The Boston Restaurant Trends You Loved (and Hated) This Year | Eater Boston

"A Boston Globe critic observed, "A few years ago, I didn’t think Boston was a particularly good bakery town. We had our standouts, but there wasn’t a strong bakery culture. So it’s exciting to me that now bakeries just keep opening and expanding," and added she was "thrilled" to see it will open in Charlestown — framing this new arrival as part of a broader bakery boom in the city." - Erika Adams

A small coffee shop that is cute and charming. We ordered two sandwiches and the bread was cold, and at no point did they ask if we wanted them warmed up. The sandwiches definitely would have been great if the bread was warm. The mocha my husband ordered was around an 8/10 My pistachio matcha was a 7/10 because I found the matcha flavor too weak It’s a cute place, I wouldn’t go back, but I do recommend trying it!

We were on our way to a birthday dinner at a famous restaurant in Boston when we happened to see a bakery that was still open a little late. I went inside to check it out, and even though they only had two kinds of cakes left, it was definitely worth it! One of them was a raspberry-strawberry cheesecake, it had a delicious icy, sweet-and-sour flavor that we loved. I couldn’t resist and bought some because it was so yummy! The bakery itself was quite spacious and definitely worth trying. Loved it!

This shop was recommended by my girlfriend, so we went together to try their coffee and baked goods. We ordered the pistachio croissant, pizza, and coffee. The pistachio croissant had a lovely nutty flavor, was creamy, and not overly sweet — just the way I like it. Everything about it was spot on. As for the pizza, I really enjoyed the contrast of the crispy crust and the soft, fluffy inside, along with the juicy, flavorful sauce. Overall, I was really impressed. This is definitely a place I’ll be coming back to — can’t wait to try more of their bakery items!

This place is one of the best bakeries/cafes in town. Super aesthetically pleasing and the food is just top level. Get the fruity paistry or the flatbread. Cookies are pretty good too and the matcha is soooo good, great quality powder and mixed. Their saffron syrup is delicious and you can add it to any drink. Honestly don’t miss this spot (this is written out of passion and love for great quality spots)

Loved this cafe and its unique latte flavors! The halva latte was delicious with a nice tahini flavor, they also have not just coffee but a lot of teas as well. They have nice looking pastries, I especially like that they sell ones from the day before at a discounted price. Don’t miss out on the pizza though, the sausage and cauliflower one was delicious with a really fluffy thick crust, would definitely recommend!

La Saisson Café consistently goes above and beyond. Connor and the team bake their bread and pastries fresh every day — especially their incredible sourdoughs, the custard and fruit tart, and that unforgettable pistachio pastry. The service is humble, warm, and genuinely welcoming, and they even take the time to learn your name. This is a true community-first café that makes everyone feel at home. A real neighborhood gem.

If you are looking for a bakery, a quality bakery, in Charlestown (or Boston as a whole), this is it. The food is excellent. The scones are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside as they should be. The bread is fantastic and unique. They have sugar that is flavored with saffron, cinnamon, and cardamom for your coffee. There is an attention to detail (the artwork, the music, and of course, the food) that is refreshing and really makes the experience of eating here worthwhile. Yes, the food is excellent (as noted above) but it’s also what you want for a breakfast conversation, or study spot, or reprieve from the daily grind. I like this place and you will too.

Wifi available but a bit unreliable for me. Do yourself a favor and get the halva latte (nutty, not too sweet), orange cardamom cookie, feta zaatar scone, orange almond scone, pear lemon thyme scone. I might’ve messed up the names but they’re so damn good

Yelp
One of my absolute favorite cafes I've tried in the Boston area! There are so many delicious and beautiful pastries offered, you honestly can't go wrong with any option you choose. I love their lattes as well! I highly recommend the halva latte with tahini if you want one of the specialty flavors. The staff is really nice and gets drinks out quickly. I love the vibe of this spot and there's some seating inside and outside when the weather is nice too!

Yelp
Food: Omg their kale quinoa salad with burrata is SO good. It tastes super fresh. I got their lavender coffee which was fine, but would try a different drink (and pastry) next time. Service: It was fast. Ambiance: Very cute inside. There is a warm cafe ambiance, and it's in a great area!

Yelp
I've been able to try a few items from this new (to Charlestown) bakery, but I really need to come back and try their specialty latte flavors like pistachio, halva, and rosewater. What I can say though is that their Chocolate Pudding Cake and Chocolate-Hazelnut Souffle Cake has me ADDICTED. I am about to make it my monthly craving ritual, if you know what I mean; the rich, velvety chocolate decadence in both cakes melted away my stomach cramps. They also make their own bread, with lots of sourdough variations. I brought home the Barbari bread, which was excellent served with hummus. Their Pain au Chocolat was also delicious (if you couldn't pick up on my bias for chocolate already) and I enjoyed its ratio of chocolate to flaky croissant more than the Pistachio Croissant (mostly because I thought the mascarpone frosting makes it too sweet). There's so many other treats to try, like different cookies and sandwiches. I'd highly recommend stopping in!

Yelp
The pastries I've tried here are among the best I've had in Boston, with exquisite flavor pairings like the pistachio croissant with saffron mascarpone frosting and lavender eclairs. I'm especially impressed by how fresh the pastries are, the tender crumb, thin flaky layers, and full flavor profile. They also have biscuit cookies for the pups, which is super cute. There's a small amount of seating inside the cafe, which can get busy quickly, and a couple tables outside the storefront which are nice to sit at on sunnier days. Service is quick & friendly.

Yelp
Amazing cafe with homemade foccacia bread (the everything/sesame is incredible). I got the turkey sandwich which was super fresh and refreshing. The garlic aioli and crispy onions were a great touch. Super friendly staff who hooked me up with a free brioche-donut with vanilla filling (which they only serve on Sundays). I'll be back to try some other sandwiches and homemade pizza!
