This was one of my first time trying Mediterranean food. It’s been my favorite since. Food portions are huge, the rice is so good and the chicken and lamb are cooked to perfection. The drinks are also very good and they don’t take long to bring you the food, wait time is minimal. The lentil soup is one of my favorites, taste is perfection.

From appetizers to soups, salads, and mains, everything was cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. I tried sambusak for the first time—both the veggie and chicken versions were delicious. The lentil soup was served hot and was full of rich, comforting flavors. Marin’s portion sizes are generous—we had the chicken kabob and the NY-style chicken shawarma plate, both of which were excellent. I do wish the Adana kebab came in a chicken option. The yellow rice was incredibly tasty. Amazing food overall—I’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu!

La Shish Kabob is hands down our favorite spot for Middle Eastern cuisine! My husband, who is from the Middle East, introduced me to this gem while we were dating, and we’ve been hooked ever since. It was my first time trying Middle Eastern food, and this place set the bar incredibly high. We’ve ventured out and tried a few other spots in Charlotte, but nothing compares to La Shish Kabob. The food here is always fresh, warm, and absolutely delicious—it hits the spot every single time. The menu is full of flavorful options, and we genuinely love everything we’ve tried. The staff is wonderful, always so kind and attentive, and they bring the food to you as soon as it’s ready. The service and quality are unmatched. If you’re looking for authentic Middle Eastern food in a welcoming atmosphere, this is the place to go. We can’t recommend it enough!

Google
Very solid restaurant, we went and got the mixed grill and it was good. Food was fresh, meats were cooked well and were tender. Only thing is that the food was a bit bland but that is what this type of cuisine is. Price was reasonable for a counter serve type of place, not a bad spot for a quick lunch!

Google
Bought shawarma and sweets yesterday. The food was tasty, but unfortunately, everyone who ate it suffered from severe food poisoning afterward. This is extremely concerning and unacceptable. No one should get sick after eating out. Be very careful with this place.

Google
1st time going to LA Shish but definitely won't be the last time. The tastes and flavors was great and tasted so fresh. I loved everything from the kebabs, to the lamb chops, the rice, even they salad. No Diddy, try the white sauce frfrfr it's like Crack Ranch. We got extra sauce and we we loved the Meat Sambusak...I just say it was Sambussin'...lolol It was like a hamburger patty. 5 out of 5...love it and now in my Fav 5!!!..

Google
Absolutely loved this place.❤️ Service was amazing and even though I haven’t ever eat there culture of food before the last was so nice in suggesting a good dish. All around was amazing we will be back.

Google
Okay, I have been eating at this restaurant for 3 years and I have ordered over 100 chicken shawarma plates, so I know the portion size very well. They generally fill up the entire plate with lots of chicken and rice and salad. Because of that reason, I continued to shop here, but the last 10 or so orders, the portion size has decreased significantly yet the price is the same. Very disappointing and I am officially stopping my business at LaShish Kabob, unless the portion sizes return to normal and they are tricking people. Attached is a photo of the plate, mind you, original portion size was filled to the top and now nearly 50% less food.

Yelp
La Shish is like the neighborhood staple of delish food. We have been coming here over and over, different days of the week, different times of the day and the consistency is the key to their success. Their atmosphere is simple, laidback so you can focus on the food. You order on the counter and they bring it back to your table. Their seasoning is on point and makes every bite a special one. They offer yogurt drinks and different juices sodas for you to try. We attended their special all you can eat buffet offered during Hamadan Festival and that was amazing as we had the opportunity to try all their menu and even different dishes all at once. I wish they would offer that more often. In the meantime I'll go back to try their dishes one at a time!

Yelp
We just found a new favorite Middle Eastern restaurant in Charlotte: La Shish Kebab, tucked away south of the University area in East Central Charlotte. We shared the Vegetarian Combo Sampler and the #21 New York-Style Shawarma Meal--a generous plate of tender chicken over seasoned rice, topped with fresh lettuce, onions, tomatoes, pickles, and more flavorful goodness. The sampler plate featured some of the best falafel I've ever had--crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful inside--alongside delicious grape leaf rolls, creamy hummus, and smooth baba ghanoush. The pita bread was warm and tasty, though a bit thinner and less fresh than I'm used to. I also tried a Barbican malt beverage--a non-alcoholic drink originally from the UK and now hugely popular across the Middle East. I went with the peach flavor, which was refreshingly sweet and lightly fizzy. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we're already looking forward to going back. We've heard great things about their Ramadan buffet, which sounds like a must-try next time.

Yelp
I'll update my last review, they havn't tried to hustle me in a while. I have learned to be very specific in my ordering if calling it in. They are pretty quick with the to go food too though, so it's normally easier just to order there. I did read in another review that they substituted chicken for a cornish game hen they run out. I believe it, especially after hearing about all the drama on the news and the PPP loan fraud stuff. They have gone up in pricing on a lot things, but that's just how the world goes these days. It's kind of cheesy/cheap looking how they just covered up the old prices with the new ones on the big menu board above the kitchen, but I guess I get it. Most things are still a relatively good deal, just more of an FYI if you havn't been there in a while. You can still get a gyro, burger, cheesesteak, and some other stuff around $10-12. And most of the other dishes are under or around $20.

Yelp
The young woman who's always at the counter is always so friendly and accommodating and willing to explain what something is if need be. I got the vegetarian combo even though I'm not a vegetarian. It had baba ghanoush, hummus, falafel a little lettuce and tomato and pita bread. The food is absolutely delicious. I decided to stay and eat. The music is rather welcoming as is the decor. I have tried many things here like the Shawarma, the chicken kebabs and the tomato cucumber salad. All are absolutely delicious and you get plenty to eat. I decided to try Shahi Kulfi ice cream popsicle. I got the almond. Over the top delicious! So creamy with bits of almonds. With the ice cream and a water, the total came to 20 bucks so worth every cent.

Yelp
Enjoyed a nice lunch here at La Shish Kabob. Plenty of seating as the restaurant is quite spacious. Service was friendly & helpful and it was easy to navigate the menu. Loved my chicken kabob platter with rice; the salad that accompanied was delicious & refreshing! Chicken was cooked perfectly and the rice was delish. The hummus platter was plentiful enough for two and we were thrilled to have leftovers. Staff was so nice bringing us all little containers so we could take every morsel home and they even gave us extra pita; so accommodating! Thank you so much for a great meal!

Yelp
I love this place, as I came back from dropping my daughter at the airport I decided to stop by to pick up dinner. I hadn't gotten to go orders before, and the flavor is as delicious. I ordered their lentil soup which is by far the most delicious lentil soup I've ever eaten; they make it different than the traditional way it's blended instead and they serve it with their homemade mayo sauce and a green chillli pepper sauce which are both very tasty. I also ordered the shawarma meal which is their chicken wrap and comes with fries, pickles on the side and mayo. On too of that I ordered the Kibe which is stuffed with ground beef and it's one of my favorite dishes "appetizers " they have. Their service was fast and friendly as usual and the ambiance is the same, it's a dinner feel.

Yelp
This is an order at the counter sit wherever kind of casual restaurant and the lively environment really exemplified how solid this restaurant is for lots of middle eastern people in charlotte. To start, The service was quick and the workers were very kind. I ordered the hummus and pita bread which comes served warm and the hummus is creamy and flavorful with a side of spicy green pepper and mayo which all complimented each other very well. I ordered the half chicken with yellow rice and while the flavor was unique and the rice was wonderful, the chicken was admittedly dry, which was a let down. The lentil soup on the side was creamy and had great flavor. On the flip side, my dad ordered the Greek salad with chicken kebab on top and that chicken was phenomenal with a great char and was super moist- I'll be sure to order this if I want chicken from here again. The salad was a very generous portion and came with loads of chicken, pickles, tomato, feta, olives, and the dressing was simple but paired perfectly- it was basically lemon juice and herbs. I also ordered the coconut-like cake (?) that they had on a side counter by the register where you can take as many slices as you want but I just took a pre portioned serving of 4 pieces. It was a mildly crumbly cake but it was incredibly moist with what I presume is a sweet syrup and coconut flakes on top. It was a great way to finish the meal. Overall, great food and would love to come back and try more menu items

Ben H.

Yelp
Food was great, just a little pricier than desired. A number of menu options are about 2x what they were a few years ago. Also be aware when ordering the Cornish hen that if they're out they'll just give you chicken without notifying you about the substitution.
google avatar

Jeffrey H.

Yelp
Excellent Mediterranean food, I've had orders catered from this restaurant for large parties and gone there for lunch. You'll never be disappointed with the mix grill kebabs! The hummus is smooth and freshly made.

Sherri G.

Yelp
Why haven't I been here sooner. Authentic Middle Eastern dishes. I had the shawarma over rice with a salad and lentil soup. Delicious. The order came back quick. Nice spot with a friendly vibe.

Yelp
First and foremost, the young lady who rang us up was a gem. She was friendly and helped us make choices, all of which we were happy with. The gyro was the best of the savory food. Then the two desserts - can't remember names, but one was like baklava but with a different filling, and the other had coconut in it. Both were great. Place itself is casual, seems they operate as a quasi market as well. Look forward to being back!

Katie P.

Yelp
Constantly closing before the listed hours and on random days. Very inconsistent and irritating when you drive to the restaurant only to find they have closed early AGAIN.
google avatar

Donald L.

Yelp
Food was okay, maybe just what I had that day. Seems to be a popular location for food its a selfservice location where you order at the register and the food is taken to you at the table. Staff is nice and friendly, they might want to consider some additional service to ensure sitting area is cleaner. Probably a more take-out location.

Yelp
This place has such great reviews and I really don't understand why, to be honest. It's upsetting because those reviews definitely enticed me to give this place a shot. La Shish Kabob was somewhat busy when I arrived -- several people in line. The decor is nothing fancy. A few tables, grub behind the glass...you know the deal. The food looked promising. So I ordered the lamb with yellow rice which came with some pita too. Utterly bland. Utterly disappointing--shockingly so. Everything. Even the pita. Maybe I'm used to the kebab spots in NY or something but this was really surprising given the reviews on here. I don't know what to tell ya. I won't bother trying this place again and I wish God speed to anyone who does.

Yelp
I decided to check out the Ramadan buffet they have during the month of Ramadan. This is quite the buffet, and it is laid out differently than most of the buffets you can visit. This buffet is so popular that it is best to make a reservation. Though there are plenty of tables, this place gets filled up for the buffet. The buffet does not start until 7 PM, and I recommend getting there a little early. Once the dinner is served, everyone gets in a single line to be serve a plate full of perfectly cooked lamb and white rice and/or chicken with yellow rice. Then, there are around fifty other items to choose from on the steam and cold tables. The servers were all very friendly and attentive. (and cute!) I came for the lamb, and I was a happy camper. I do not think I had ever eaten as much lamb as I did last night. It was very good, and the chicken quarter was nice, too. The lentil soup was so good that I had three servings! Before this month is over, I think I will be going there again. Sorry, I did not take any pictures this time, but I will my next visit.

Yelp
My family took me here for my birthday and I had a very good time. The vibe was very nice, service was great, and the food was really good. The woman at the front was very nice to us even though we took a long time to order and the waiter was very hospitable too. I got three different entrees and desert. I went a little late at night but In the back they had what looked like a buffet which I will definitely be going back to try. 10/10

Yelp
Drove over an hour to dine for a special occasion and our evening was ruined by the horrible food. Food arrived cold. Chicken and beef kabobs were so dry and burnt we couldn't even chew or swallow it. Had to keep washing it down with water. Especially the kafta kabab - it was SO BURNT. Incinerated. Like charcoal. The "yogurt" side was so watered down, it didn't even taste like anything. Just cucumbers swimming in white colored water. The rice was mushy and puffy - tasted like microwaved instant rice in a bag. The baklava was so soggy, not fresh at all. Hardly any pistachio and a strange rubbery texture. And the prices are high - we paid $150 to feed 4 people (entree, drink, dessert, nothing else). Staff was nice but food was absolutely horrible.

Estefani A.

Yelp
Food was great. I can't remember the name of the plate I got but it was really good. The ice cream was great. The Dubai chocolate was good as well. Service was alright. Ambiance wise - not many people in there
google avatar

Salma M.

Yelp
Underwhelming and lacks flavor. The "tzatziki" sauce or whatever this white sauce is, is bland. The pitas are nothing special.
google avatar

Lesley W.

Yelp
This was the most flavorless middle eastern food I have ever had. The chicken lacked salt. The garlic sauce was even bland. The baklava was soggy and flavorless. The falafel was greasy. I would save the time and energy and go somewhere else.
google avatar

Angela M.

Yelp
amazing service and amazing food!! Ordered a half chicken and rice with veggies, it was cooked perfect and the flavor was amazing!!! will be back many times !!
google avatar

Z A.

Yelp
Food is eh I went here to try a variety of more authentic dishes and was disappointed. I was expecting more flavor than what I could get at the halal truck but they missed bad. I will say the food portions are plentiful. The people are very kind and friendly. It's a very laid back atmosphere for a quick bite.
google avatar

Tameka G.

Yelp
I love their chicken shawarma plate. It was so filling and the price was affordable. I was able to share some with my children and we all were full afterwards. The food is well seasoned and their white sauce is the bomb. I always order through door dash. So I haven't been able to experience the customer service inside but they give you a nice amount of sauces in the bag. I look forward to my next meal soon!
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Perhaps the most underwhelming food I've ever had. Desperately lacking flavor and care and certainly devoid of any culinary passion or effort. This is some of the most basic takeout that leaves you wondering- did anyone plan to serve a dish like this? Could anyone have possibly consciously put that together? Bland and blatant store bought pita, comes in the original store bag of four (then gets split into twos!), not even warmed before they ship it out. Disgrace to Charlotte and Mediterranean food- I can't believe the rest of you are fooled hey this place....
google avatar

Nick P.

Yelp
We do a good bit of takeout so packing off the food is important to us and they did a fantastic job. I love Mediterranean food and have struggled to find a good spot in Charlotte but thankfully we have found it. Everything was cooked great, fresh, and tasty. Will be back!
google avatar

Diana P.

Yelp
Love the food here! This was my first time eating at La shish kabob and it did not disappoint! My group and I tried the falafel, NY style schwarma, lentil soup, schwarma wrap, and their cauliflower. It came out really fast and hot!
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
A regular go to if you want good Middle East food. There is a nice variety and the staff is very helpful if you need help deciding. I usually get a variety of items so that I can nibble for days on it.
google avatar

Phoebe T.

Yelp
one word: AMAZING!!! if you love middle eastern food this is the place to go. it is not in the best location but the food is simply amazing with large portions. it is enough to take home for another one or meal. i got the lamb shank with rice with the salad. the meat was so tender it fell just comes off the bone. rice was very flavorful and the salad was very refreshing with a strong mint flavor. their appetizers were very fresh and delicious. the falafels come out hot and one of the best ones i've ever had. I went with a group of 10 and everyone loved their dish. the servers are super friendly and helpful. you usually order up front and then find a place to sit. def making this my go to place for middle eastern food!
google avatar

Devina M.

Yelp
I was so disappointed. All I wanted was some real garlic paste. The food was dry, stale. Flavors were not Mediterranean at all. Will not be back. I don't understand the good reviews below. Maybe they had a bad day. Gyro and shawarma both bad. BABA ganoush was just okay.
google avatar

Hamzeh S.

Yelp
So good!!! And Palestinian owned food was fresh and the seasoning was perfect will definitely go again

Yelp
After my work out, I decided that I wanted to try a new restaurant today. I have had a constant craving for Mediterranean cuisine and this restaurant was one of the top restaurants that came up in my google search. The moment I walked into this restaurant, I definitely felt welcome and this is the first restaurant in the U.S. that has Mansaaf on their menu! When I saw Mansaaf, I knew this place was going to be legit. The cashier was super hospitable and was helping her father who owns the business. This is something I could relate to because I helped my parents with our Chinese restaurant business growing up. I ordered the chicken shawarma meal and it was absolutely delicious. The seasoning on the chicken was super flavorful and this is definitely one of the best shawarmas I have ever had outside of Jordan. If you are in Charlotte, NC and are craving for Mediterranean cuisine definitely check this place out! I love finding small family owned businesses and I am glad I discovered this one. Support your local businesses!
google avatar

Iwona A.

Yelp
So good! Service was awesome. The servers are very friendly. The food was well seasoned and spiced. Definitely order the babaganoush and the falafel for appetizers. The lamb shank meat was so tender and just fell off the bone. The 18) Mix is great cause it comes with three kinds of meat, lamb, hafsa, and chicken. There is parking. We got the baklava, pistachio flavor. flaky and delicious.
google avatar

Sarama D.

Yelp
Yum!! First of all the fact that they have mansaf would probably have me giving the 5 stars alone! But really every single thing we ordered was amazing. We got : an appetizer combo ( falafel, kibbeh and babaganosh) , a Turkish kabab, a NY style sharwarma plate with lamb and Of corse the mansaf. Teh porrions for everything is huge and this order has basically lasted us all weekend giving me a nice break from cooking. Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu.
google avatar

Ameya D.

Yelp
This place deserves 5 stars for outstanding food in a family owned and operated restaurant. Location: in a non descript strip mall, easy to get to and plenty of parking. I have ordered for pick up several times and sat down for dinner just once. So my review is skewed heavily in favor for pickup. Food: My favorite is lamb shanks. Absolutely juicy and delicious and with yellow rice. The Adana labs are my 2nd favorite. Any of the signature dishes are prepared well. They do have some desserts as well but I've mostly focused on appetizers and entrees. Con: not a fan of the side salad, and I am bummed they don't serve a roasted tomato along with the rice when I get a platter any more. Wish they bring that back.
google avatar

Nikhat J.

Yelp
LOVE the food. Very tasty, cooked perfectly. The quantity is generous too. Clean and spacious. Great service! Would recommend.
google avatar

Lauren V.

Yelp
Ordered the Turkish Adana Kabobs with rice and lentil soup on the side. Kabobs were delish! Lentil soup was OK, could have used a little more flavor. My meal came with yogurt sauce and schug. Yogurt sauce is always great IMO. I tried a little bit of the schug, but I'm a spice wimp, so my portion was sub-respectable. That being said, I feel like the flavor was SUPER good and if you're a spice person, you'll be into it.
google avatar

Bailey D.

Yelp
Great food! Recommend the hummus. The portions are huge and the service is great. The meat on the mixed meat platter is to die for.
google avatar

Sumith S.

Yelp
Great location, we went in on a Saturday night, they had a selection of food items at the buffet. Decided to get buffet instead of ordering from the menu. Food was really good for the price. I saw other customers had ordered from the menu and their plates were huge. I wish I ordered from the menu instead of going to the buffet since the meat selection was small.
google avatar

Nicole V.

Yelp
YUMMY!!! I'll definitely be going back to try their lamb shank soon. I had the ny style schwarma plate which will now feed me for two more days. We got some baklava and tried the kanafa, which was some sweet cream and phyllo dough dessert. Strongly recommend checking them out

Marcos C.

Yelp

Madow N.

Yelp
Service was friendly - no complaints there. You order from the counter and seat yourself. Ambiance is casual but nice. Food came out pretty quickly. It all looked great but it was a bit bland for my taste - definitely needed more seasoning. The desserts were also a bit disappointing - did not taste as expected. The beverage choices weren't great - a lot of sugary juice/soda drinks coconut water and plain water. Some seltzer would have been nice but I guesss that's not popular thing in NC. for the food and drinks for the service
google avatar

Alekhya P.

Yelp
Food tasted great! First time in CLT and was craving kabobs. I got the grilled chicken kabob's and would highly recommend! The chicken was juicy and flavorful. It was a great balance with the rice and chicken!

Holly D.

Yelp
This was my first time at this restaurant, My nephew had the lamb and rice, and ate every bite. I had the vegetarian it was good, but I will try something else next time the french fries were delicious
google avatar

Moe B.

Yelp
Excellent food and friendly service. The NY style chicken and rice was better than NY. They even gave me samples of items I inquired about.
google avatar

Gerard S.

Yelp
Delicious fresh Lebanese food. Excellent customer service. Comfortable ambiance. If you're craving Lebanese dishes, this is the place.

Yelp
I'm from New York, I guess I am used to food with more flavor. I do not recommend this place.

Yelp
La Shish Kabab has been on my list to try but I feel like this visit wasn't a good representation of them. My visit was Easter Sunday. La Shish Kabab was open and was having a buffet. I decided not to do the buffet but to order off the menu. I got the NYC style Sharma plate. I got my nibblings a cheeseburger to share and my friend order the Cornish Hen plate. The whole ordering process was quite an ordeal and I was ready to go. I never felt like I knew exactly what was happening. I ordered at the counter then when I said it was for here I was directed to have a seat and told I could pay afterwards. No one helped us with drinks or silverware. It was kinda a free for all. Once we got our food there were some slight issues. One my rice was cold and hard and needed massive amounts of the white sauce to make it edible. I requested some extra sauce and then I needed more but was told that it would cost 5.95 for more sauce. If you know me you know I hate paying for extra sauce when the entree is extremely dry. I would say that the dish overall was ok but it would have been better if it was fresh and hot. I hate to say this but I've had better off a food truck downtown. The other issue was that they tried to exchange a half a hen for a Cornish hen. When it was brought to their attention there were excuses made and ultimately we had it taken back and removed from our check. But they decided that we would be still charged for the salad that came with the dinner. I was so ready to go and for the experience to be over that I just paid for the items and didn't make a stink. I love Mediterranean food and this was not a good experience. I would like to say I would come back and give them another try but I have found other restaurants that offer great food and service and so I don't see myself coming back anytime soon. Yelp
COVID must have really hit them hard. The baklava, as pictured, was extremely dry, stale, and old - worlds apart from the other baklava pictures I saw on Yelp. The mixed kabob came in a much smaller portion than pictured in others' reviews, and it was dry and did not taste fresh at all. The rice was moist and flavorful, but the meat too lacked flavor. I did like their spicy green sauce to spice up the dish. The restaurant was empty when I came in during lunch time, some food was out, and all the raw meat for kabobs were out. I'm glad I came during lunch so that the food was a tad fresher than it would've been later on in the day. Also, the food was most definitely overpriced for the quality. However, I must reiterate that the food I received looks different (and less tender/fresh) than the pictures others posted, so my guess is that COVID has been difficult for the restaurant.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a Monday night. We ordered hummus, Tabouleh, and #14 huge pieces of meat and tons of yellow rice. Food was already cooked and prepared so it literally took two minutes for the lady to serve us our food. I highly recommend this location for authentic middle eastern food. If you come during lunchtime I highly recommend calling in your order they are extremely busy.
