Riad Hotels in the Old Medinas of Morocco

"You can only make a riad hotel so big. But if you’re stuck for size, you can join them together — La Sultana, for example, combines four traditional Marrakchi courtyard mansions into one contiguous complex, and in so doing creates one of the medina’s most complete luxury hotels. All that makes for plenty of space to spread out, and the pools, fountains, courtyards and rooftop terraces are seemingly endless." - Mark Fedeli

Best hotel ever with amazing architectural details, great food and the best staff ever!!! Stayed for 7 days on the last leg of a 3 week tour of Morocco for my 70th. The location was perfect with easy access to everything of interest. Our room, La Dromedaire was perfectly appointed with everything we needed. It was luxury at its best without “trying too hard .” The service was impeccable yet unobtrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Without a doubt this will be our go to restaurant in Marrakech the next time we visit.

Paradise on earth! This place is situated just jnside the Medina but that said it is an oasis of tranquility and beauty with wonderful staff that provide the best service i have ever experienced! Exquisite in every way. From the amazing rooms to the hammam and roof terrace with its cool down pool, loungers and bar this place delivers on every level. The staff are immaculate, friendly and so very attentive. You will be greeted on the bustling street outside by one of the brilliant staff who bring you inside the Riad (actially 4 riads make up the hotel) into the cool calm with an offering of stuffed dates and almond milk to refresh u after your journey. We stayed in the Lion Suite and the Rhino Suite both glamorous and sumptuous with traditional Moroccan treats and fruit every day. We can highly recommend the in site hammam and massage both wonderful options in the spa. Make sure to take the cooking class with Miriam and chef Boushka its on the roof terrace kitchen and was such a lovely experience. This is unfortunately not an adult only hotel so the quiet was occasionally punctured by the noise from child guests who were not kept under control by their indulgent parents but with nothing to occupy children on the roof terrace this was undoubtedly the best place to go to avoid them

Excellent property in every way. A feast for the senses. Stunning architecture, outstanding service, scent of jasmine and rose throughout, high quality cuisine with an emphasis on local products and vendors. Our room, with semi-private pool and courtyard was extremely clean, comfortable, modern. A dyson hairdryer!! The semi-private courtyard with small pool was a calming retreat after the cacophony of sites and smells in the souk. Staff is genuinely hospitable. Every detail attended to - water bottles filled regularly, concierge service at your fingertips (using your personal direct service telephone line), your room is chock full of goodies - nuts, fruit, sweets abound. Excellent location within the medina, yet still quiet.

Such a wonderful hotel. An oasis in the heart of the medina. The staff were attentive and very professional. The service was exceptional. The hotel itself was beautiful, full of interesting artefacts. Our room was elegant and comfortable. We enjoyed a delicious meal in the restaurant. Had the best massage ever in the spa and immensely enjoyed a cooking class on the rooftop. We felt pampered and relaxed here. The location was perfect for exploring the medina.

La Sultana is a gem in the wonderful city of Marrakech. Located in the Kasbah, it is a very short walk to the main souks and several museums and gardens, all of which deserve a visit. The hotel is of the highest order with the guest wanting for nothing. Great ambience, professional and attentive staff, every detail has been considered. Be sure to avail yourself of the spa, and book in for a hamam during your stay. La Sultana is a great way to start or finish your Moroccan adventure. A treasure in Marrakech

Accommodations and décor are stunning. Service was impeccable! There wasn't anything the staff wouldn't do to make our stay amazing. Highly recommend La Sultana vs going to a large hotel with a tour bus full of people. Well located near the Medina, but in a quiet spot.

This hotel cannot be beaten in terms of decor and staff service. The title of this review is not an exaggeration. My wife is an interior designer and sold Moroccan furniture. The attention to detail of the design, patterns, and color mix is beyond anything we have seen (that's why there is a book for purchase). The service is intimate rather than snobbish. The staff knows your name, language(s) you speak, how you like your coffee, etc.

I went to the spa and it was great. The lady at the front desk was friendly and answered all my questions. I booked a time via email to make sure I could attend. The property is beautiful and the spa itself is very relaxing. The spa treatment was amazing and I’d definitely return. I also had lunch at the restaurant which was delicious. The waiters are very kind and accommodating. Thank you for such a nice afternoon.
