"At this hot pink bakery in Harlem, “L.A.” refers not to the West Coast city, nor the Lenox Ave. location, but to owner Loretta Alston, who opened this spot in 2017. L.A. Sweets specializes in fluffy, moist slices of cake, as well as slightly denser cupcakes topped with polite amounts of icing. The fluorescent red velvet is one of the most popular slices, and it tastes just like a homemade sheet cake. But the toasted coconut pineapple is the slice to prioritize, with brown coconut flakes and chunks and shreds of juicy pineapple peeking out of its icing layers. The various by-the-slice options make this a good spot to swing by if you need to bring dessert to a picnic around the area. How has it taken me so long to discover this place?!? The shop is adorable and the owner is a true delight. Had a cake and cupcakes made for 30-35 people for a 2 year old birthday party and everything was amazingly delicious. Did a vanilla cake with strawberry filling and everyone raved ( and I mean couldn't stop talking about) about how good and moist it was. I also requested a dozen vegan cupcakes which were equally as tasty. I ordered cake and cupcakes about 3 weeks in advance. I dealt with the owner directly on design and what I was looking for and she made the perfect suggestions to help me execute it. Communication was great and all was done on time and ready for pickup. 5 stars all around and would absolutely order from her again!

I ordered two 8 inch cakes for an office party. From start to finish, the process was smooth and easy. The vanilla cake with chocolate icing was delicious as well as the red velvet with cream cheese icing. Highly recommend this bakery and we will definitely return for future events!

Omg... this place is a GEM!! I simply love the owner Loretta. She's an absolute sweetheart. And the vegan cupcakes that I have tasted are beyond DELICIOUS!! So far I had the chocolate and the caramel cupcakes. I brought one and I just had to come back that very second to get some more. I don't even have a sweet tooth but I would go for her cakes. They can custom- made your cakes as well for any occasion just give enough time to make the best vegan cake ever. And, might I add that I love decor as well!

This place smells amazing as soon as you step into the bakery. They have many options, both vegan and non-vegan. I purchased the vegan vanilla cupcake, vegan vanilla and chocolate frosting cupcake, the vegan strawberry cupcake, the vegan double chocolate and a slice of vegan napolitan. I liked all the cupcakes but the strawberry one, it tastes like artificial strawberry flavor. I didn't like the taste of the slice of cake at all. The frosting on top was ok, the chocolate frosting in the bottom layer tasted delicious and both the strawberry frosting in the layer and cake I didn't like. I wish that they had a vanilla vegan cake. Staff and owner were very nice and accommodating.

Got this cake for my mom's BD I described what I wanted and it was on point, exactly what I wanted, colorful and beautiful, cake was for 15 people, cost was $150, taste was amazing! Super happy with my purchase, would recommend to everyone, service was awesome

Came here scrambling to find a cake last minute for my sons party. Not only did they have what I was looking for, they were willing to make a cake last minute to be ready in two hours FROM SCRATCH! Very impressed and satisfied with the service, and of course the food! The smells walking in are simply delightful, and the staff were making baked good right behind the counter. Could not recommend this place enough!

ordered a red velvet birthday cake for my party and was given vanilla. the quality of the sweets here was good the first few years but unfortunately deteriorated. they hired new people who give me hot cupcakes with frosting that obviously begins to melt off in seconds. the only nice person is the owner the other younger girls are incredibly rude with no customer service skills. save your money.

Loretta is amazing! I've been going to her bakery for years. When I got engaged she was my first choice for my wedding cake. She designed the most beautiful and delicious cake. We absolutely loved it! I highly recommend hiring Loretta for any special event. She makes it extra special!
