L.A Sweets

Bakery · Central Harlem

"At this hot pink bakery in Harlem, “L.A.” refers not to the West Coast city, nor the Lenox Ave. location, but to owner Loretta Alston, who opened this spot in 2017. L.A. Sweets specializes in fluffy, moist slices of cake, as well as slightly denser cupcakes topped with polite amounts of icing. The fluorescent red velvet is one of the most popular slices, and it tastes just like a homemade sheet cake. But the toasted coconut pineapple is the slice to prioritize, with brown coconut flakes and chunks and shreds of juicy pineapple peeking out of its icing layers. The various by-the-slice options make this a good spot to swing by if you need to bring dessert to a picnic around the area. And they usually also have a couple of whole cakes for sale if you’re faced with a sudden cake emergency. photo credit: Sonal Shah photo credit: Sonal Shah photo credit: Sonal Shah" - Sonal Shah
