La Taberna Steak & Tapas Bar

Very nice place in Dumont. Service was on point and attentive to our needs. The Sangria, appetizers and main courses were prepared very well and delicious. Definitely would go back.

My girlfriend and I went here on a Friday. I have to say, the price was fantastic. It was $75 for 3 drinks, an appetizer, and two mains. The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was great. They have great music playing but it's not insanely loud, we could still hear each other. We decided to go back on Saturday for the football game. Same exact experience. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, and the service was fantastic. We'll be coming back weekly. Even with the large family here, we could still talk and have a great time. Definitely recommend!

They're open again! I believe this is a sister restaurant of Sayola in Tenafly. Love the easy picking bar food menu. Food is good and presented well and I have no complaints about the alcoholic beverages. Great service & attentive wait staff.

We had an amazing experience! The steak My husband and I went over to Taberna this weekend. My husband ordered a ribeye and it was cooked to absolute perfection and the vegetables were seasoned well and not overcooked at all. The staff and bartenders were very attentive, friendly, and on top of everything. We’ve been here a few times already and we have never been disappointed. Definitely one of our go-to spots! Highly recommend!

I’ve been here several times, always with my wife as second opinion of the review. In all my visits, I always had a good or great experience here, and I cannot wait longer without a review. The drinks, food and service are great. The prices are affordable. I really like the drinks: the mule, Dumont sours, martini and sangrias. My wife loves the octopus, black paella, empanadas and pastas. I recommend the crab cakes and quesadillas. I definitely recommend this.

My cousin went last week to set up a reservation for XMAS Eve for apps & drinks. When we got there there was a "Holiday" menu with half the apps we reviewed and you could not order burgers or sandwiches. Place may be adequate for a quick bite but do not plan a gathering or a party.

Came here for a weeknight dinner. Plenty of open tables. Simple decor. Staff were quick and very nice. Food was a winner here. The octopus was tender, perfectly cooked, tasty, and much larger than the usual small octopus portions you get at most restaurants. My skirt steak was also tender, juicy and flavorful. They had a surprisingly nice selection of draft beer, including local and international breweries. Would definitely go back here

PROS: The staff was very nice, food tasted fresh, prices were good, menu had many sections, food came out quickly, and good atmosphere CONS: only 3-4 choices per section on the menu and there's only street parking OVERALL: I recommend coming here since everything about this place is great. Had the fresh Branzino for dinner, it was amazing. It's nice to have a Resturant close to home that serves delicious food with a family atmosphere and fantastic service.

Before I begin my review, I must admit that I'm the worse at remembering to take pics before eating, so the pics are already after my party began to eat. So, for my review, this place is really good. I have only complaint and that is their crème brûlée; stay away from it. It's not the traditional tasting/texture. It's more of a Spanish style that I tasted in Spain. Anyways, paella and appetizers were really good. The grilled octopus melts in your mouth; it's so soft and easy to eat. The sangria was also perfect. The service is excellent even with a fairly busy time; waiters/busboys were very attentive. Ambiance was comfy; reminds me of a pub look. All-in-all, I highly recommend this place.

Wonderful time at La Taberna their first sip and painting class -first time doing this activity with family and friends. Such a great experience as you see the painting evolve to the end -thank you Taberna for letting brushes and berries use your space for a very fun night -and at the end some of the girls had a very nice drinks and appetizers . Thank you Patricio for being so attentive.

Nice and quaint atmosphere in my opinion. Gives me the feel at home vibes. Service was excellent and welcoming. No pretensions ... Non-judgmental. Their freshly baked roll for starters was the start. Steaks were cooked on point on a sizzling rectangular plate. Price ... spend $155 for all this food including pitcher of white sangria. Highly recommend this place.

I was back at my loc spot a few days ago and like always got great service and a good time. I was drinking margaritas all night as they were so good I couldn't stop. The bar was packed all night and the DJ was playing some great music. I always have a good time at this spot.

Stopped by last week on a weeknight. Great service, good food, spotless and friendly. Will definitely try again. The sever was superb and didn't rush us and was super attentive. I am a local and want to see businesses in the area flourish but it must be hard due to the pandemic. Please try this place out if you haven't already and if you have get take out! Stop by! Support our locals. The sever even gave us extra bread to take home with our leftovers which was super thoughtful and generous.

Chris is the best bartender ! My husband and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary there . We had the blush sangria ! The best !

We went for dinner on a Tuesday evening. We had tapas and ordered the Pulpo a la plancha, albóndigas and the tapas sampler. We also ordered a side of guacamole. All the food was well presented and prepared. The pulpo was outstanding and the guacamole was fresh and flavorful. I had a lycee martini which was delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here and recommend without reservation.

The food is AWESOME! The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the main dining room only had one waiter.

Good service, the food was pretty good, too. I was happily surprised with this place. There was a DJ playing in the bar area when I went on a weekend night. The decor was nicer than I expected for a small town spot. Seems like a good pick for a date night or dinner and drinks. Family friendly but nice enough for a night out with just adults.

Food - meh Ambiance? WOW! What a fun place! DJ on a Friday night had everyone dancing and singing. People literally doing the hustle between tables of folks eating pizza and empanadas. We will be back!

Love the place. My I Deserve A Break Today place. Chorizo, neuron paella, creme brulee. All overseen by great Sangria.

We came in on Mother's Day because my mother and aunt wanted to try a place we haven't been to before. We made reservations for 9 people around 5pm and had no problems being seated right away when we arrived. There was a live DJ by the bar on the left side of the restaurant and we sat in the dining area to the right. On Mother's Day, there were drink specials and a set menu. We ordered Sangrias, Calamari and the Spanish Tortilla to start. We also received a basket of bread and butter. I'm really a fan of their Sangria. The wine was strong enough that you could still taste it, but it didn't overpower the fruit. The Calamari was perfectly crispy and we really enjoyed the sauce that came with the Spanish Tortilla. I ordered the Sesame Tuna (medium rare) Entree, which came with Sautéed Spinach, Balsamic Vinegar and Mango Tequila Sauce. It was amazing. I usually don't get ANYTHING medium rare, but our waiter recommended it and I thank him for it. Both dipping sauces paired perfectly with the tuna in different ways. The Sautéed Spinach was the best I've had in a while. There was not a bit of food left on my plate! At the end of our dinner, our waiter gave not only gave my mother and aunt a rose, but also my sister, cousins, and I roses too because we're dog moms and we deserved one too. I loved that and was definitely appreciated! It was a great evening and everyone at our table enjoyed their meal. All 9 of us would recommend giving this place a try! I'm definitely coming back to try everything on the tapas menu!

Came here for my mothers birthday because we live in the area and we always wondered how this place would be. The service was fantastic - our waiter Manuel gave us great food and beer recommendations and was incredibly attentive to us without hovering. Food was delicious, had the special black paella (black from squid ink), skirt steak, grilled octopus, steak tacos, and the Taberna combo. The Taberna combo and octopus were my parents favorite and everything was almost just as delicious. Would definitely recommend/return to this place

We went to La Taberna on Sunday after a late lunch for some drinks while watching the games. A long bar with seven wide screens to watch the games and the menu has items like pizza, flatbreads and wings - plus sandwiches, burgers etc... Service was very attentive and friendly. I would go back and actually try their food next time =]

When you live in a town, I feel like it's very common to overlook the restaurants in your own downtown area. That was the case for me, but I'm glad that one night my boyfriend pointed out the red and black building and said "let's eat there one day" lol We came on a Friday night and we were greeted by the hostesses once we walked in. We were able to sit anywhere that we wanted, so we chose a 2-person table in their dining room, which is to the right of their bar area. The waiter came quickly with water and brought us the drink menu, which had wines, and a smaller drink menu that had their cocktails and beers. What I loved about this restaurant is that there's a "cocktail of the week" - this week it was a mango martini. The cocktail of the week is $6, which is a great price. I ordered one of those and my boyfriend got a whiskey mixed drink on their menu. After looking at the menu, we ordered the arugula beet salad, chorizo, meatballs, and ham and cheese board. My least favorite was the meatballs - I thought they were too bread-y and tasted like meatloaf.. not the most impressive dish. The other three dishes were great! The chorizo came with a small salad that was delicious and spicy! Everything was presented so well, it made our meal feel even more special. For dessert, we ordered the homemade flan. It was delicious and very authentic! Lastly, the overall waitstaff was EXTREMELY attentive! They read our minds and knew to bring an extra table for our food because we ordered quite a few dishes. They asked us if we wanted additional drinks when we finished and constantly asked us if we were having a good time. That in itself is reason to come back. Thank you La Taberna for an amazing experience!

I really wanted to like this place. But I cannot be okay with ordering a $30-$40 steak and it not being cooked to the right temperature. I ordered medium rare. It came out on one of those sizzling plates. I wasn't expecting that. I asked that's not going to make it over cooked right? Right. Wrong. Not a touch of pink in my tbone.

Date night here was very nice. We started with crab cakes. OH EM GEE. Do not eat here without trying them! I was surprised since this wasn't a crab cake specialty place but they were awesome! We had drinks called coquitos(?) Which tastes like rumchata. A little too sweet for me. We ordered our meal- I had the salmon and my husband had the pork chops. My salmon was a little rubbery. I was sad about that. My husband's pork chops were so good! I would totally order the pork chops next time. They fell off the bone and had so much flavor. I believe it was an applesauce type coating on them. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and always made sure we had everything we needed. The food came out relatively quickly. The ambiance here is wonderful. Perfect for a date night. It is very large inside and dimly lit. The light fixtures are beautiful. I will def be coming back to this neighborhood YUM spot. I will just order something that is not the salmon.

My husband took me to La Taberna for my birthday. The skirt steak is my favorite, and I was not disappointed... we added beet and arugula salad with goat cheese topped off with a nice glass of Cabernet and I was a happy girl!!

Good food and friendly servers. They are a little pricey. We come here often and they never disappoint. They should offer Caldo Gallego though, it's a typical very tasty Spanish soup that hits the spot.

This is the sister restaraunt of Sayola in Tenafly (another fantastic place). This is romantic place to take a date for tapas and traditional Spanish fare. The sangria is the best, taken with their paella. We've had birthday parties there and they will accommodate any request like serving cakes from outside. Good service and good food.

Me and a friend came here a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier the food was good and the real shining spot here was the service. The waiter was attentive and very kind. Our food took a while which we didn't really notice but he did and kept apologizing he felt so bad he offered us a free drink and a free dessert. This is old school service you rarely see anymore, it was enough where we said we would come back just for that!

OMG they are the best. I recently catered my daughter's bridal shower from them. Yorett Was amazing. She made sure that everything was perfect. Everyone was impressed with the food. My daughter couldn't have been happier with our selections. Thank you for making my event a total success with your delicious food.

We tried this spot on a Saturday night for the first time. The bartender was great and attentive. Live DJ was awesome! Great selection of beers and drinks. Had a few different apps which were all average and served room temperature. You would find The garlic shrimp cooked with a generous amount of garlic in olive oil but this was just olive oil so not much flavor. The Spanish chorizo normally has a nice char, but this was undercooked and a rubbery texture. Bar pie was just ok. Overall, would return for the drinks and ambiance.

Worst brunch display I've ever seen. The selection was narrow. Food was insipid. It's a place I'll never go back to.

Great exceptional customer service! I brought two rambunctious kids and all the servers that day were very kind to the tables with kids. As far as the food I ordered something very authentic and it was divine. I prefer to eat authentic rather than Americanized burgers and fries but there is definitely something for everyone on the menu. The drinks were very good. My husband ordered the burgers and fries and he remarked that they were not as good as he expected them to be. Again I don't think this is a type of place that specializes in burgers and fries. If you want burgers and fries there is a Wendy's that can take care of your needs. But I love the authentic food here and I will come again. We started out wanting to go to Fricks but they were packed and the wait was going to be too long. What now? Then we saw this red and black brightly lit place across the street. Steak & tapas ok let's give it a try. We were not disappointed. Our party of five were greeted and seated quickly. A cozy but not cramped dining room just past the lively bar. At first glance the prices looked high, but we pressed on and ordered several Tapas to start and our entrees. Grillled octopus, wings W/ mild hot sauce, mixed Croquettes, shrimp in garlic. Expecting each to be just a small bite, out came plates loaded with enough of each selection for all of us to really enjoy the dishes. The tapas plates were cleared and our entrees were presented. Three of us had the skirt steak which came with potatoes and vegetables. One had chicken and one Paella. Everyone agreed the steaks were cooked to perfection and were tender and tasty. The chicken was also cooked perfectly juicy with a ton of herbal flavor a dish of salsa verde was on the side which just gilded the chicken. I got some salsa verde for my steak which added an extra punch of flavor. Now back to the price, the quality and quantity of the food justified the prices they charge. IMHO you definitely get more that your moneys worth. You know you had a good experience when the conversation at the end of the meal is what you are going to order next time.

Me and the Hubs first time out for indoor dining since the pandemic. We are sooo happy we were able to get a table and enjoy this great place! We have been here many times (pre-covid) so we knew how good it is. Ketisia was the most amazing server! Very attentive, so sweet and made our experience here all the more better. She overheard that we were celebrating our anniversary and the restaurant sent over complimentary cheesecake and dessert shots. Thank you so much to La Taberna for a fabulous experience!

Pros: local, huge bar and dining area, lovely decor, ambient lighting, friendly staff, prices appropriate for the area, good music (band and playlist), drink specials, happy hour specials, weekend and weekday specials and drink of the month special is $5-$7. Get all the pizzas; you will not regret it. Steak sandwich is best for the buck. Choose the red sangria over the the white. Marinara sauce for calamari is tasty. Chef can cook all your food to your liking as you wish. Con: slow refills on water and ice (offer a pitcher if it is bothersome)

Everything was perfect. My sister and I dropped in to get an appetizer and wine. The Rioja was perfect and the crab cakes and empanadas delicious. I will be returning!

I passed by the spot many times because I live locally. For some reason I took it for granted and never gave it a try. That was my loss. My sister was visiting from MD. and it was my mother's birthday so we decided to give it a try on this rainy night. The food was outstanding from the appetizers to the main courses and we all had something different. I was so pleased finally to have good portions of food that do not lack in any way and quality taste preparation and presentation. Everything here was five star. I am thrilled that a restaurant that is so close is so good and I will make up for lost time.

One of the better restaurants on the Island. Portugese fare, and some Spanish dishes. Superb steaks, and seafood. One of the few places you can get fresh grilled Sardines. Great service, and drinks. Just go.

The food and drinks were great. Atmosphere and ambiance was cozy and cool. We had assorted Tapas and sipped beer and cocktails. Good music was playing in the background and the wait staff was friendly and attentive. The owner even came over and chatted with us for a bit. We will be back with friends soon. Thank you La Taberna.
