La Tienda Grande

Absolutely fabulous! We’ve been meaning to try out La Tienda Grande for a couple years now and finally got the chance last night for my birthday. We opted for the 8 course tasting menu, which is curated for your palate. They offer a little post card in the beginning for you to fill out, and that gives you an opportunity to tell the chef what you like and what you aren’t so interested in. For a tasting menu, the portions are large. By the 4th course we were wondering if we’d be able to make it through! We did, but only because the flavors were so fantastic that we couldn’t help ourselves! Highlights (which are hard to pick out because everything was great) were the duck with mole, the sweetbreads, and the pumpkin pie. The ceviche, beef, and pork belly taco were also great out-of-this-world! Cocktails were inventive and tasty. The service was 10/10 and they executed perfect cross-service amongst two waiters and the host. All were lovely and extremely educated on the menu. We will absolutely return, likely within the next 2 weeks as we have family coming to visit and we’re eager to share this experience with them.

Wow this place is good! It's worth coming out of your way even if you're staying on the coast. We did the 7 course tasting menu and everything was absolutely fantastic. The drinks were top notch as well. This was our best meal of the trip.

An excellent experience!! Well worth the trip to Ixtapa. The restaurant is situated in a cool Mexican neighborhood and is very unassuming on the outside. The interior is decorated nicely and feels very comfortable and homey. The staff are friendly and professional with a good knowledge of the menu. The wine list, while not extensive, has a nice variety of wines at all price points. The food is nothing short of amazing!! Every dish is presented beautifully and the tastes all combine to produce a party in your mouth. We all sampled each others dishes and couldn't pick a clear winner because they were all delicious. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes. This place is definitely a keeper!!

This was an exceptional dinner! We ate at several fine dining restaurants in Puerto Vallarta and I think this one was my favorite! The food was impeccably prepared, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was beautiful. You should definitely eat here!!

Awesome dining experience! Best meal we had in Puerto vallarta. They start you off with complimentary cheese croquettes. Awesome! We had pork belly tacos, calamari, short rib pasta, shrimp on a table grill and more. All the apps and entrees were outstanding. You can't miss here. The severs were excellent as well. Don't miss this place!

Always so skilled with the most detail to presentation on each plate. Last night I had the Sous vide'd Tenderloin with silky Foie gras...cooked to perfection! The incredible detail that went into the Eggplant was otherworldly & that sauce hidden at the bottom is was the star of the show was. Pumpkin cheesecake was a slice of heaven!

La Tienda Grande is a hidden gem that's worth braving rush hour traffic and narrow roads for. Tucked away on the outskirts of Puerto Vallarta, this culinary oasis offers an innovative take on Mexican classics with an international flair that could rival restaurants in any world capital. The 5-course menu is a gastronomic journey that delights at every turn. From the perfectly crisp cheese croquettes to the playfully named 'Child's Play' - a masterfully seared tuna in a spice crust - each dish is a work of art. The plantain empanada with Venezuelan corn and lentil stew is a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. Don't miss the 'Taco Chino' - a fusion masterpiece featuring braised pork belly on a blue corn tortilla. The slow-cooked short ribs with maple lacquer and dark beer au jus sauce are fall-off-the-bone tender and paired beautifully with a honeyed sweet potato puree. Even the dessert, a unique bolillo bread ice cream, showcases the chef's creativity and skill. La Tienda Grande isn't just a meal; it's an unforgettable culinary experience. It was easily the best restaurant we ate at in Puerto Vallarta and possibly the best we've experienced all year. If you're in the area and consider yourself a food enthusiast, this is a must-visit destination.

Super cute dining room, inventive food, good pairings, very friendly staff. Some courses were brilliant, some were a miss. Worth the long trip out to ixtapa.
