La Tienda Mexicana El Oaxaque is a vibrant corner store bursting with Oaxacan specialties, fresh elotes, and colorful finds that capture the essence of Mexico.
"In the early morning hours July 5, a two-alarm fire that investigators believe started at the Lumber Yard ripped through the bar and damaged several neighboring businesses, including Dottie’s Double Wide, an under-construction boba tea shop called Nuggi, and Mexican grocer La Tipica Oaxaqueña. Almost immediately after the full scope of the devastation was clear, the White Center community started pitching in to help impacted businesses recover. The family-owned La Tipica Oaxaqueña still has a fire damage recovery fund set up on GoFundMe." - Gabe Guarente
"We wish we could walk into any convenience store and come out with a cob of Mexican street corn. La Tienda Mexicana El Oaxaque is a tiny bodega with hand-painted signs and a big rainbow umbrella that sells mostly groceries and dried grasshoppers, but they have a cart in the front where you can order elotes on a stick or in a cup. It’s $3, incredibly satisfying, and goes perfectly with a few slices of fresh mango topped with chile, which you can also get here. photo credit: Erin Lodi" - Aimee Rizzo
