La Tienda Mexicana El Oaxaque Review - Beacon Hill - Seattle - The Infatuation
"We wish we could walk into any convenience store and come out with a cob of Mexican street corn. La Tienda Mexicana El Oaxaque is a tiny bodega with hand-painted signs and a big rainbow umbrella that sells mostly groceries and dried grasshoppers, but they have a cart in the front where you can order elotes on a stick or in a cup. It’s $3, incredibly satisfying, and goes perfectly with a few slices of fresh mango topped with chile, which you can also get here.

This is a small Mexican centered grocery store and also a great place to buy decor, cooking and gifts supplies or generally items full of color and personality.
For Dia De Los Muertos you can buy fresh carnations here for your ofrenda or skates

This is a small store where you can find odd or specific traditional items like Pits, piggybacks, bags, dry fruits, seeds, casseroles and many other items you might not easily find on a larger store, be aware that if you are looking for fresh produce you might not find it here.

This was the only store I could find Pan de Muerto last minute for a party. Lots of the day of the dead things for sale as well that time of year. Great general Oaxacan grocery store!

I live 50 min from Seattle. My grandma wanted to cook a rooster soup for her son. So we ordered 2 roosters 🐓 they came in a bag. One was very frozen while the other one was a bit softer the moment we got home we put them in our fridge ready to be cooked for this Saturday. I opened our freezer today I opened the bag because I was curious to see how the roosters looked like. When I take a closer look I smelled fish 🐟 I stuck my head in there for a closer smell and gosh I almost puked 🤢 I was like what the heck is this nasty smell ! Honestly I felt so unsure I followed my gut and decided to throw them away. We spent 70 bucks for both !! The people there do not follow FDA guidelines and need their food handlers card revoked or they need to retake it again and follow fresh poultry guidelines. They may be good for their piñatas but not for fresh food. I do not recommend that place. Please save your money and gas ! There are better places out there.

Owners and workers block disabled access on a regular basis. Today they have taken over the entire corner making a right turn a hazard to pedestrians and cars.

Very lucky to have so many unique stores catering to the diverse communities in White Center. 5 stars for the incredible queso oaxaca and 4 different mole pastes straight from the source (Oaxaca, MX). Lots of other great Oaxacan wares to explore each time I visit!

A very nice store, with many Oaxacan items that you just will not find anywhere else, pretty much short of actually visiting Oaxaca. Absolutely indispensable if you are interested in Oaxacan things, and it feels so nice, so welcoming, and is absolutely packed with so many little treasures and amazing smells.

Yelp
Stopped by here for the first time today hoping to pick up some Oaxacan chocolate and pottery for Christmas gifts and was very impressed. I love pottery so I really enjoyed checking out all the handmade Mexican ceramics at this store. They also sell jewelry and other handicrafts and well as a wide selection of spices, dried chiles, breads and anything you'd ever need to cook Oaxacan food. And they have many kinds of Oaxacan chocolate as well - the perfect thing to drive away the winter blues. The staff was incredibly helpful, welcoming and knowledgeable. If you are looking for a unique gift or need pantry staples, this is the place to come.
