The wife and I went here for a Restaurant Week promotion. A set menu at a * Michelin restaurant for 50€? Sure, why not? Neither of us had eaten truffles before, and though we've eaten at nice places, we've never eaten at a Michelin star restaurant. The service was nice, though they do try to upsell you on the truffles right off the bat, but the set menu looked good from the onset and we were excited to try it. The host brought out both white and black truffles to smell, and they did smell lovely.
It began with a sashimi salmon, pheasant foam with croutons, and a Jerusalem artichoke broth served in a test tube type vessel. The salmon didn't have much flavor, and while I liked the Jerusalem artichoke broth, the wife didn't care for it much. The foam was probably one of the best things of the night, though it had maybe too many croutons. This was followed up by a langoustine ravioli in a potato sauce, which came with black truffles shaved on top. I thought the truffles were good, and added a nice flavor, the wife didn't get much from them, though. The ravioli, although good, was just fine. It didn't really awe us like we were expecting.
The main course was a pheasant, with pistachios and a sweet potato puree, that was accompanied by green peas and a lovely pear with cranberry. I bit on the upsell and had white truffles added for an additional 20€. I didn't think they had as much flavor, and while the pheasant was the best dish of the night, especially with the addition of the pear with cranberry and the sweet potato puree, it was, again, merely alright. Desert was pretty disappointing, a Mandarin "soup," with dark chocolate and orange sorbet. I liked the sorbet and the chocolate combination, as it reminded me of one of those chocolate oranges you get at Christmas, but it wasn't really presented well, as it was on a plate and hard to get the "soup" on your spoon. The mandarins also didn't really have any flavor to them. At the end though, they did bring out a little platter of treats, chocolates, and little candies, and it was actually better than the desert course.
All in all, while the meal was good, it wasn't what I expected from a Michelin star restaurant. I don't think we'll go back, even if it happens to be on Restaurant Week promotion again.
