WHEN IN FRISCO CHECK OUT THESE TACOS!! TRUE STREET TACOS MEXICAN STYLE NOT TEX MEX IF DONT KNOW WHAT REAL TACOS TASTE LIKE THIS ISN'T FOR YOU. GREAT TASTING FAJITAS, BEEF STEW OR CALDO DE REZ AND MENUDO!!! BEST IN TOWN. THE BURRITOS ARE OFF THE CHAIN!!

Nelly Corbitt

Google
Caldo is on point! Coming from a Mexican, this place is as authentic as it gets. This place never disappoints!

Google
Have been eating here for 15 years. Love the owners and the amazing traditional Mexican food. Please give this place a try … I personally love the guisado which is the best I have ever had.

Google
I’m from California just moved to Frisco, and this is the only real authentic street taco I can find. Well flavored meat, the vibe is so cozy and quaint, it’s low key and feels like home. Highly recommend

Google
This was a really nice find with my friend, really tasty food, not to mention completely fresh, with great service. I gave it a 4 star out of 5 because I don't really believe in a perfect resteraunt but I'd say try this place out!

Melissa Mann

Google
Wonderful Mexican diner and they work so hard preparing delicious food! Simple menu with incredible taste!

Google
We went to La Unica with an open mind. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. The carne asada and salsa are good by themselves. The taco platter and burrito were a huge disappointment. They were bland and we had to add salt and salsa for flavoring. We received 1 napkin and a cup of ice with no water. My husband and I had to share a napkin because the staff was no where to be seen while we are our food. I really wanted to like this place because it's a small business, but we will be taking our money to the other taquerias we like.

Yelp
This was the worst place I've ever eaten two enchiladas with beans and rice. Enchiladas were pulled out of a can or something $20 for what horrible service.
google avatar

Lam B.

Yelp
The owners are really nice but the food and restaurant were bland. I had the menudo and it was just okay. Nothing good about the coffee. Only two people running the show so service was slow.
google avatar

Yelp
Lengua taco and Caldo de Res was good. Wish they would have had a spicy salsa alternative. The salsa had no heat. I did not enjoy their carna asada taco. They are very nice people but don't come here if your in a hurry. I most likely will not be back.

Yelp
My husband and I moved to Frisco from Dallas. We thought it would be very difficult to find an authentic taco place in Frisco, come to believe we found this little house no more than a mile from where we lived! We stopped in one evening and their tacos were amazing! Fast forward to this past Tuesday, I fell ill with the flu and wanted some warm soup like my mom makes. I called and the lady said they offered caldo de Rez which is beef soup. I went and picked it up and it literally saved my life and will definitely be back for more! I highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Like the others have said this is a great mom and pop taco shack--converted to a house--the front yard is a parking lot and it seats about 50 people total, so it's cozy. The Barbacoa is awesome here, not too greasy--definitely cachete not brisket. The prices are your typical cheap taco [1.25] and the portions healthy and the red salsa is hot. If you are delicate to the chilies, definitely ask for it on the side. As for the onions--they put plenty on them. I would have liked a lime--I was enjoying the tacos that I forgot they could have lime in them. These tacos disrupt the bland soulless food desert that is most of Frisco. On the weekends they have menudo which looked delicious. Unfortunately they are closed on Sunday.

Yelp
When we walked in, there was no one to seat us in the empty restaurant. We chatted for a little while, thinking that someone would hear us, but after a few minutes we realized that wasn't the case. I basically had to walk into the kitchen to get anyone's attention. Then, the waitress sat down at the nearby table while taking our order...very strange. We had a super burrito and taco plate. The food was extremely bland and disappointing. What was advertised as a salad was two cut up pieces of iceberg lettuce. The burrito was $6.50 for beans, cheese, lettuce, and a little bit of meat! I had to go into the kitchen again at the end to ask for the bill. Everything was completely overpriced and the service was horrible. Do not come here. What a waste of money.

Yelp
Cool little Taco place. They have a limited menu (no chicken for example), but their tacos are good and cheap. The barbacoa is great. But heed the warnings of the other reviewers about the hot sauce. It tastes good, but it'll burn your tongue off!

Mariano A.

Yelp
I came here in search of a Taqueria that is more like the Dallas county Taquerias. The food was okay. I had the taco plate (2 tacos, rice and beans). I thought the unspoken rule was that a taco plate is going to have three tacos, but this place only has two. I had one Barbacoa taco and one Lengua taco. I was disappointed that they don't have more meat selections, such as al pastor. The meats were actually really good and the only reason that I gave this three stars. Even though the tacos were pretty much the tiniest I've ever seen, even by street tacos standards they are small, the meat in each taco was incredibly good. The rice and beans were the blandest rice and beans I've ever had. I had to cover them in salt and salsa. The salsa is smooth tastes OK, but lacks any heat whatsoever. I had also ordered chips and salsa, but they never brought that out to me. It definitely wasn't like the Taqueria's I am looking for. It's more expensive than any other Taqueria I've ever been to, had less food, and was less tasty overall than any Taqueria I've been to. I'm glad I came here, so I can market off the list, but I will not be returning.

Yelp
been going for year and years and food is still great. the family is the sweetest and every order we've had is delicious!

Yelp
Oh my goodness this place is absolutely amazing. I've been coming here for years whenever I come to Frisco and it never fails that I walk away with a smile on my face and a full belly. I HIGHLY recommend the barbacoa breakfast tacos. You can't go wrong with those. The homemade salsas are amazing. It's just a little restaurant in a house in the middle of a residential neighbourhood, and it's absolutely delicious. Not a big fan of the owner playing religious channels on the TV, but I just went ahead and popped in my earbuds and turned up the volume.
google avatar

Aubs J.

Yelp
This is a quaint little restaurant tucked away in Old Town Frisco. Breakfast tacos were good but I was disappointed that they don't make their own flour tortillas. I would expect that from a little place like this.
google avatar

Bobby K.

Yelp
My favorite Taco place in the world! It's a converted house tucked away on a residential street in old Frisco. It's also an actual Mom and Pop operation, you'll find the same couple in the kitchen everyday which keeps the food consistent. Most will find the menu limited but hey it's a taco joint you just grab a soda out of the old tropicana fridge and prepare for the best barbacoa you've ever had the priviledge to taste. There are three taco variations Carne Asada (steak), Barbacoa (BBQ), Lengua (tongue) the Lengua isn't for the squemish but I encourage you to try one. Personally I can go through 9 tacos a sitting but I was recently informed of a gentleman who trumps me by 3 so I might have to go in on a particularly hungry day and take back my crown.
google avatar

Alma B.

Yelp
Had a nice Sunday lunch here. 2 tacos de carne asada and 2 tacos de lengua. After eating the lengua tacos, I can assure they were not lengua but cabeza. Which on my part is even better! The asada tacos were also good. My daughter had the caldo de res, known to me as "cocido" a beef and vegetable soup that was delicious! Only thing was missing was the bolillo bread toasted with butter, they serve tortillas instead. I wasn't a big fan of their menudo. No cilantro on the side or green onions? It had an odd smell to it, so it was mostly left untouched. But I didn't care too much for Mariana's menudo either, must have something to do with what I'm used to where I come from. The couple there is really nice and I suspect they do all the work and they do it very well. If you want good Mexican food at amazing prices, this is your place!

Jasmine J.

Yelp
Unfriendly people don't even greet or smile at customers. Attention is trash. Stated I had to pay more for asking for my cilantro/onion and limes on a separate plate. Would not recommend!
google avatar

Khimberly A.

Yelp
I got the Caldo de Pollo and let me start with, NOSTALGIA. Nostalgia of my old babysitter back when I was 3, yes 3 years old, and she would make this soup for me. It was definitely authentic and soo delicious. I gave some to my pregnant mother and she was also thrilled to just smell it, and after she tasted it I had to give her a second cup. The staff was working their butt off and constantly going back and forth to the kitchen. So if you want to get food, get their attention, it's not really hard and I don't understand why so many people talk about that being an issue. Such kind women and they will make sure you're taken care of(:

Yelp
The food taste really good. I always order the guisado de puerco. It tastes so good, not spicy. I am glad I found this place.
google avatar

Montanna O.

Yelp
A sweet family owns and runs the restaurant. The food is made fresh everyday. With a little patience sit back and enjoy your meal. They do not have a whole crew helping them out. The soups are my favorite and the beef tongue tacos. You would never know, the meat is so tender. Their salsa is made fresh, it's not a thick sauce. Definitely make this spot a regular experience for my family.
google avatar

Orlando O.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican food! I'm back again. Order the caldo (soup). They don't make the chicken soup everyday, but today they have it!!!!!! The Caldo de Res is good too!! It's like being home and mom and pop are cooking for you here. Love it..

Yelp
Well if being overcharged and watery taco sauce with store bought chips (at an extra charge) is your thing, then please by all means get down here asap. I'm all about hole in the wall taquerias, especially since my boyfriend is Mexican and has spoiled me with authentic Mexican cuisine but this place fell short. The service was not great either. My tamales were average at best and the "salad" they advertise on the menu that accompanied the dish was literally shredded iceburg. No dressing no nothing. Boyfriend had some tacos and again, average. Tortillas weren't even homemade. To top off our mediocre experience, the owner didn't give us an itemized bill just a total that sounded more than we had figured. Sure enough when we busted her she just fixed it and didn't apologize or explain. Kind of shady. Sooooo in short, I'll take the drive to OakCliff next time my man doesn't feel like cooking.

Melissa W.

Yelp
Went there for lunch, i wanted a burrito with cilantro, steak, chhese and onions, because i didnt want beans, lady said then 2 small.burritos, i said fine Well got 2 tacos with just steak, i explained i wanted cheese, cilantro and onions, came back rolled them and it was orange cheese. The meat was hard, no taste. I would never eat here again, many more Mexican restaurants in Frisco.
google avatar

Cesar G.

Yelp
No good service the lady no friendly, maybe because I wasn't from this town but onset good food , good food bad service I lost my appetite
google avatar

Yelp
We were looking for a place to eat close to Toyota Stadium and this place did not disappoint! The cheese Tamale plate was excellent! Guiso de puerco was also delicious! Kids had breakfast tacos for dinner and couldn't get enough! Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Found this little gem by accidentally turning the wrong way. Stopped in because I have been looking for a good taqueria since I have been in frisco. The location is very clean and did not disappoint. I tried the Migas and huevos rancheros. Both were very tasty and were served along side some beans and potatoes. I also ordered a lengua taco and a carne asado taco. The meat was tender and tacos came dressed with cilantro and onion and tasted freshly made down to the tortillas. The salsa was good, I thought it to be a little mild but the heat began to build up in the back of my mouth as I kept eating it. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They even helped me carry my food out to the car since I had my baby in my arms. I will definitely be back to try more things.

Yelp
Tacos took awhile to make despite there only being one other table there. Ordered takeout and the tacos were a lot smaller than I thought. Also, my boyfriend who hoovers everything, only ate two and left his other two in the fridge til we had to throw them out and he HATES to throw out food. I had two tacos and they upset my stomach. I really wanted to like the place since it's got that homey, supporting local-economy feel to it, but it just didn't work for me at all. :(

Pamela M.

Yelp
Best Authentic Mexican Food! I was planning a birthday party and wanted good Mexican food to have for our guests of 60 people, this is the place! Everything from the Tamales to the Barbacoa Tacos were delicious. The owners were very kind and made it so easy for me to pick up and serve at the party. So much food for a such a great price. If you're planning a party this is the place to go. Thank you for making our party special. We will be back!!
google avatar

Ted B.

Yelp
Awesome place to bring your family and have a real authentic Mexican meal! The tacos are the best I've had in a very long time.

Robert A.

Yelp
I found this mexican restaurant out driving one day thru Frisco, TX. I got to say that this is now one of my favorite places to eat. We go there and eat at least once a month. You'll find that this place is clean and the owners very attentive and friendly when you come in. Some of our favorite items on the menu are the barbacoa (Mexican Style BBQ) and Carne Asada (Steak) tacos with a lot of hot sauce. The beef stew is pretty good too. For the kids we like to order the enchiladas. At the end don't forget to wash it down with Mexican Coca Cola. I would highly recommend this place to anybody who is looking for a mom and pop joint to eat.
google avatar

Joe B.

Yelp
I had the enchiladas and chips and salsa. The food was good, though I wish I'd checked Yelp before I came here: I was really hoping for tacos al pastor and they don't have any. My mistake. Also, I hope I missed it somewhere but for parking they had four spots in front of the building and nothing else.
google avatar

Chris D.

Yelp
Great mom and pop taqueria. I love their carne asada and barbacoa tacos. The carne asada burrito is one of my favorites anywhere. The salsa is hot and spicy just like I like it.
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
Greasy spoon down and dirty authentic Mexican cuisine and run by mom and pop, hard to find, and easy to find yourself going back again and again. Mom is a saucy lady that is chintzy with her ice cubes, so feel free to poke fun at her and tell her to give you more ice for your tea, and she will grudgingly add maybe two or three more cubes if she's in a good mood. The tamales and the caldo del oro soup are comforting on a rainy gloomy day and worth driving from Little Elm when I'm in a wandering mood. I wouldn't recommend the beef tacos or burritos because the meat is cut in tiny tough cubes and not that good, but dang, the lingua tacos are fantastic. Definitely a good place to bring your laptop and get some work done on a rainy day!
google avatar

Eric M.

Yelp
We've been fans of tacos plus and decided to check out the competition. The location is a bit off the beaten path in Frisco, adding to the charm of the restaurant, however, the food is just okay. The barbacoa tacos came with hot sauce and cilantro per our request but I would have enjoyed fresh lime and more onion. Overall I would have to say that it was fun to check out but I probably won't go back.
google avatar

Danny R.

Yelp
My wife and I tried this place today. Food was great. I had the taco plate of carne asada with a barbacoa taco and my wife had the enchilada plate. If you like great Mexican food, this place is worth it, but don't expect restaurant type service - it's not it's strong point, but you will enjoy it.
google avatar

Yelp
First of all this place is only getting one star because I don't have the ability to leave zero stars. We get here it seems like it's mom-and-pop running the joint which is fine. They charge extra for chips and salsa which is ridiculous and on top of that the salsa was not salsa at all, in fact it seemed to be some kind of watered down red looking liquid with seeds. My girlfriend orders the tamale plate and it said it came with a salad instead it came with diced up iceberg lettuce. I ordered two barbacoa tacos and two potato egg and cheese tacos. Barbacoa tacos were small and so were the other tacos. They came rolled up very greasy. We ordered waters to drink and they gave us ice cubes that were obviously from and ice tray with only 3 cubes per glass. We could hear from the table it was faucet water. They never checked on us. Poor customer service. The lady that served us even seemed a bit rude. It seems this place likes to cut corners any way they can. I totaled up my bill before paying because I had a feeling something shady was gonna happen. Sure enough when we go to check out the lady is adding things up on a calculator and gave me a total of $19.87. I figured 16.25. I asked how she got that. Then with a nervous laugh she began to re add and gave me a second amount for $17.59. She didn't apologize or explain the discrepancy. She just nervously giggled. I paid and got the hell out. DONT GO!! These people are CROOKS!!!

Mimk M.

Yelp
And old fashion mom & pop business. They offer real authentic Mexican food. If you are Mexican and miss the homemade meals from your country, this is the place. Nothing fancy but real Mexican food.

Victor R.

Yelp
Wonderful mom and pop shop for AUTHENTIC Mexican food for those looking to try it, love it and/or grew up on it. It's neatly tucked away in a residential part of old Frisco, this is a converted house turned business so don't miss it. It literally is a mom and pop as those are the only staff. The menu is extensive for the size of the place in my opinion. Tacos of all sorts, huevos rancheros, Caldos i.e. chicken stew and beef stew, and my favorite Menudo. Their menudo is so good I order two so I can take it home to freeze. This place reminds me of home cooking I'm used to my mom and aunts making.

Kristi B.

Yelp
So I spent some time in Mexico for work and I know that the food (tacos) they serve are pretty close to what I had when I was there... I love little local places with cheap, limited menus. We went there for lunch today and there were a few other regular customers in the place. My problem is not with the food or service, I thought the prices didn't make sense...I ordered a "taco plate" with 2 tacos, rice, and beans. The bill was 6.97 for the "taco plate" altogether. The tacos are priced at $1.25 individually, but the taco plate costs nearly 7 bucks when you add a small scoop of rice and refried beans? Doesn't make sense....the price for the Taco Plate was not listed on the menu, but I assumed it would be around $5.... not major, just dissapointing....

Yelp
I was so happy to see this place on Yelp! I have looked for a mom and pop mexican place since I moved here 5 1/2 years ago. Had to go! Cheese enchiladas were ok, rice and beans were good. There was one other table occupied besides me. The woman who waited on me acted like she could care less if I was there. It was very quiet and almost uncomfortable in there. Crushing moment came when I orderd chips and salsa. A bowl of salsa that looked like something poured out of a bottle! Nooooo! Salsa threw me over the edge! So disappointing.

veronica a.

Yelp
I had the barbacoa, lengua, and wuevos mexicano taco and they were fantastic! fresh, hot, sooo good! the food was authentic and flavorful. I won't be going anywhere else for breakfast tacos in frisco anymore! can't wait to try other iitems on the menu!

Yelp
Today we went to La Unica after trying to go to Marianas Taco Shop, which is like .5 miles away. Mariana's didn't have enough employees show up so she had to shut down early. She was super apologetic. I bring this up because we went to La Unica right after that and had the EXACT same problem but a COMPLETELY different experience. We first made sure that there wasn't a ton of people in the restaurant. There were only about 10 other people so we sat down. We waited a full 5 minutes with the lady walking by us several times before we got up and asked if we had to come to the awkward, weird window to order or if she took our order. She had the rudest tone and her response was "I didn't see you come in. Where are you?" I pointed to our table and she walked into the kitchen. I first thought it was a language barrier but she spoke PERFECT English. We waited a few more minutes and she finally came to our table. My friends placed their order and then I tried to order "Huevos Con Chorizo" because there was nothing on the menu saying that they stopped serving food at a certain time. She immediately gave me a face and started shaking her head and just said "Nope". I asked why not and she said "I'm not going to make breakfast. There's too many people in the restaurant. You want tamales?" I love tamales so I said sure. We waited about 10 minutes and realized that we should go ahead and pay for our meals so when they came out, we could just eat and leave. I went back up to the weird, awkward window where she was and said politely "Hey, can we go ahead and pay for our food now so when we get our food we can eat and go?" Her response was one of the rudest I have ever received, along with a huge sigh. She said "I'm way too busy to do this. You need to just pay as 1 group to make this faster." My response was "We haven't even gotten our food yet so don't we have time to pay separately right now?" Again, rude tone "Fine. Which food did you order?" At this point, I was flabbergasted and shook my head and said "Geez, louise." Her response to hearing me was "I'm very busy and can't do things like this right now so that is why I'm saying that" to which my response was "I'm still the customer, right?" She just shook her head and grabbed my card from my hand. Then she said "Well, your food is going to take forever so if you're in a hurry then you're not getting your food anytime soon." This was the best thing she could've said because it gave us a reason to leave. I snatched my card back from her and told her we would never be back. Keep in mind; apologies go a long way- as we never heard an apology from this woman for any of her extremely rude behavior. Thank you for giving us a reason to ALWAYS go to Mariana's Taco Shop because she was extremely busy YET was able to be courteous AND apologetic. People get busy but it doesn't mean you have to be rude.

Heather F.

Yelp
I can't even believe I've read some of the negative reviews on here that I have!! I've been going here since I was a little girl. My dad learned about this place from one of his coworkers and introduced me to it and I've never found a place that serves better tacos since. This isn't your typical place to sit down and order "chips and salsa" at. So the people complaining about the watery salsa for their chips, I have never personally tried having the salsa that way. It's meant to be put on your tacos or whatever other food you're ordering. I've brought plenty of friends here and told them the same thing, "just order the food you want to eat, you don't order chips and salsa here." We always get the carne asada tacos and they are ALWAYS delicious!! This place has a wonderful atmosphere, one of the things I've always used to describe it to people who have yet to go is it's a home turned into a restaurant run by a husband and wife and they are GREAT people! I used to have to go every weekend until we moved and the drive became 30-40 mins for me. This place will always be my go-to taco place!

Yelp
Okay, so I decided to try this place yesterday as it is in close proximity to work. First of all, it was a tad warm inside so if you're looking for a nice cool place with a/c during these sweltering Summer days, this isn't it. Moving on, I love caldo de res so I decided to try theirs, much to my dismay, it was mostly bone and broth and the corn tortillas are the worst I have ever had. Oh, and don't be in a hurry because it took forever to get served and checking out at the tiny window was a joke. If you want authentic Mexican tacos, try Lulu's taqueria. Don't let the fact that it's a hole in the wall in the back of a convenience store fool you. Her food is authentic and her made as you order flour tortillas are the best in town!!! Try Lulu's you won't be disappointed. Here's the address and as soon as I can find a way to add it to Yelp I will. Lulu's Taqueria 7227 W Main St, Frisco, TX 75034 (located inside of Beverage World) (214) 436-4715
