"The former second of Substance, Sylvain Courivaud, is determined to kindle our appetites in this contemporary venue entirely devoted to wood-fired cooking. Whatever the method from Japanese barbecue or Big Green Egg to a smoker, Sylvain combines consummate technique with a love of high-quality produce. The vibe of this trendy eatery is warm and welcoming." - Michelin Inspector

The meat dishes (Black Angus fillet and fish fillet with asparagus) were excellent, and the dessert was equally delicious. The staff is very kind and friendly. The only (minor) downside is the lack of an English menu, but the staff speaks English well and is very helpful, so it’s not a problem at all.

We were recommended to visit this restaurant, known for its signature beef cuts. Two days before our visit, I emailed to change the reservation from two to four guests. Having received no reply, I called the next day (i.e. the day before our visit) and the change was confirmed by phone. However, upon our arrival, as we were taking our seats, the manager came over and abruptly asked, “Who made the reservation!?". I explained the email exchange and the phone confirmation. No apology followed, only a dismissive “Anyway, we would have accommodated you.” The attitude was unnecessarily rude and unwelcoming. The dinner itself did not reflect the expectations we had and the reviews we read; the meat was of decent quality, though not exceptional enough to justify the price. The presentation of the dishes was rather plain and unappealing (just few lettuce next to the meat) , while no sauces were offered, which would have added value on the dish. The pork dish (pluma), served dry and without sauce, was particularly disappointing, while the carpaccio was overly salty and presented in a questionable manner. The wine, however, was good. Fortunately, the rest of the staff was pleasant and attentive, which helped make the experience a bit more enjoyable despite the poor welcome. Overall, we left disappointed by the unpleasant first impression and felt that the overall experience was just average. A pity, as the place had been recommended. Personally I don't recommend the L'abraise and will not return.

Disappointing experience. Initially we booked a table for two. Two days before the visit we emailed to change the number of guests to four. As we did not receive a reply, we called the restaurant and received the confirmation that the change was made. Upon arrival the manager rudely asked “who made the reservation?” We explained the situation and without even apologizing he turned to walk away saying “anyway, we would have accommodated you”. The food did not reflect the expectations, reviews, and justify the high price. A plain peace of meat accompanied with few lettuce leaves and no sauce. The sauted potatoes were dry, over seasoned with rosemary. The pork pluma was dry, again accompanied with few lettuce leaves and the potato puree (ordered as side dish) nothing special. The carpaccio was over-salted and presented in a questionable maner (rolled around lettuce). Although it was specifically mentioned to the waiter that the dish was very salty, no excuse from the management was given. We left the restaurant disappointed. Not to recommend.

The good was delicious. The service was great and very helpful. The frog legs and escargot was the high light of the dinner. The meat was cooked to perfection. We really enjoyed our experience.

Just chanced upon this place because their neighbor was booked. We loved everything we ordered. Our waiter was extremely friendly and helped us make selections from the menu that were extremely popular with all of the family, even our 5 year old. Our 9 year old Jasmine says: “I wanted to go to a real French restaurant and that’s what I got. The waiters are super nice and the food made me think of France! If I could I’d give this place 100 stars!”

Disappointing experience in all areas. I honestly think that the person in charge should have some training of how to welcome customers.I found him extremely rude and patronising . The food does not justify the price we paid . One of the main dishes was not eaten by one of us as it was too salty, the waiter told the person responsable he didn't bother to come over to ask why .It was obvious he didn't care. It is sure that I will not go back and it's ashame because I just live around the corner.

We stumbled upon this cozy little gem around 10 p.m. and were warmly welcomed, even at that late hour. The service was absolutely exceptional — friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. We started with a delicious entrée, escargot with mushrooms and gravlax. For the main course, we had the hanger steak and a comforting, flavourful stew — both were outstanding. To finish, we shared a rich chocolate dessert that was the perfect end to a five-star meal. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour. You can truly feel the care put into both the food and the ambiance. Highly recommended — we’ll definitely be back!
