Wow, what a place. We came for the cocktails which were great but were blown away by the food. The cocktails all have a unique Peruvian spin and Alonso explains it in perfect English when they're served. They're excellent.
The food was amazing. We had the Sea Urchin special, scallops, mussels, rib eye and caramelized bread for desert. The Urchin, Scallops and Mussels were better than anything I've had at a tasting menu place including the French Laundry and Pujol. They each had about 4 flavors that presented themselves in succession. Each bite was amazing. A perfect blend of savory, seafood, sweet, bitter -- very imaginative and amazing in execution, presentation and experience. I'm not schooled enough to explain it but can appreciate the skill.
We got lucky with a same day reservation on a Wednesday. Apparently they're very booked up. The place is small and has an indoor/outdoor concept. We were seated at a table but told them we'd love to sit at the bar if possible. 10 minutes later they took us to the bar. You can tell the whole staff (waitstaff, hostess, bar staff, kitchen) are invested in the success of Lady Bee and they all work as a team. It's refreshing to see. Would love to come back!
