The Bird Will Close in Logan Circle and Become Frenchy’s Naturel Bistro | Eater DC

"After a two-year run at 1337 11th Street NW, the Bird will cease service on Monday, January 21 so ownership can wipe the slate clean; they felt the restaurant was not delivering consistently and cycled through several chefs after the kitchen—originally designed around inaugural chef Michael Bonk’s poultry-focused menu—proved difficult for successors to replicate. Fans can get a last taste during Restaurant Week (January 14–20), with the final night offering half off food and drinks. The Bird’s popular brunch will largely remain intact, keeping chicken and waffles and fried chicken Benedict, while adding new items such as a croque madame and steak and eggs." - Tierney Plumb

First bad review in 20 years: I would’ve been better off getting a McDonald’s hamburger, it was disgusting, frozen, burnt patties, the fries have BBQ seasoning on them but you are never told, was also brought BBQ sauce instead of ketchup, finally figured out there’s also BBQ seasoning when I finally got ketchup and the fries were cold, had to go up to the bar for refills, and my stomach hurt the rest of the night from the awful burger! The pasta/veggies were somewhat flavorful but soggy and all this with proud hotel prices and sorry service/atmosphere. Total spent $50 on two horrible meals, service, no music & overrun with teenagers yelling- will never return!!! And here to warn people RUN the other way! The pictures really fooled me, no vibe, it’s a hotel lobby essentially.. it was overrun with people just hanging out, no music, even tried to ask and no one knew how to put music on? Disappointing that Hotel Indigo would even have this pathetic fast food in their lobby.

Loved my Thanksgiving dinner here (the broccolini, jams and bourbon pecan pie were especially FYRE)! Also enjoyed the bat martini. Great service and vibe. Will return!

Great tasting food and awesome service. After a long trip, dinner close by the Indigo was preferable. Very convenient being in the hotel. Spacious seating where you don't feel crowded. A couple of tvs in the area (one behind the bar) if watching while eating is your style. Bathrooms are near the elevators in the hotel. Not sure about parking since I utilized the hotel valet for parking. Pricing per person with an adult beverage will run around $45. Great menu options, including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. My dish was the lemon---(forgot the full name) salmon and my spouse had the braised beef short ribs. He loved his dish and so did I. The salmon dish came on top of risotto with fresh green beans and broccoli. Portion size was perfect. Very tasty, I only had to add a pinch of salt to the risotto, otherwise absolutely delicious. The bar tender acted as our waiter for dinner and was personable and very accommodating. Would definitely recommend. The restaurant has a street entrance and one within the hotel. Seating lends to the large wall of windows and doors facing the street. If being on display is not your thing, you can sit off to the side. I do believe the windows are tinted, so while your view is clear to the outside, non-patrons need to come in close contact with the glass to see in.

I don't think I can blame the waitress at all, she was great, but this place is slooooow. It took me over 20 minutes to get an order of toast to go! The restaurant nor bar was full either so it wasn't a volume issue.

Highly Recommend!! I was staying at a hotel close by but came across this place & the service was INCREDIBLE!! Our bartender Iltze took very good care of us! & even the people around us she engaged with were having a good time. Next time I’m in town I am definitely coming back!

This is unfortunate since I rarely leave bad reviews. We came in here for a quick breakfast since we were in a rush, NO waiters or waitresses were out here. We saw a waitress but she looked as if she saw us and hid in the back rooms. When we called someone over, the waitress came out and started to talk to the people who arrived 5-10 minutes after us. When she came over we asked for an iced latte, and she brought us out the wrong order. I normally am alright and understanding of this but she sounded very rude and like she didn’t want to be there. My knife had food on it, and the utensils didn’t seem properly washed. I loved this hotel, so I’m a little disappointed with the food here. We are still waiting on the food as I type this, it’s been 30 minutes.

Martin the bar tender was very nice and energetic while pouring us the drinks. The food service was finished by the time we reached but he definitely saved our night with drinks. Very cheerful bar tender keeping the conversation light and funny. Will drink more if he is serving next we stay here. Cheers.
