The Bird Will Close in Logan Circle and Become Frenchy’s Naturel Bistro | Eater DC

"After a two-year run at 1337 11th Street NW, the Bird will cease service on Monday, January 21 so ownership can wipe the slate clean; they felt the restaurant was not delivering consistently and cycled through several chefs after the kitchen—originally designed around inaugural chef Michael Bonk’s poultry-focused menu—proved difficult for successors to replicate. Fans can get a last taste during Restaurant Week (January 14–20), with the final night offering half off food and drinks. The Bird’s popular brunch will largely remain intact, keeping chicken and waffles and fried chicken Benedict, while adding new items such as a croque madame and steak and eggs." - Tierney Plumb

$24 after tax and tip for a ‘yogurt parfait bowl’ and coffee. The parfait was served on a plate with a small dollop of yogurt and minimal fruit/granola. Extremely poor value for a hotel lobby breakfast. Server was sweet, but this was highway robbery. Convenience doesn’t justify this level of quality or portion size.

First bad review in 20 years: I would’ve been better off getting a McDonald’s hamburger, it was disgusting, frozen, burnt patties, the fries have BBQ seasoning on them but you are never told, was also brought BBQ sauce instead of ketchup, finally figured out there’s also BBQ seasoning when I finally got ketchup and the fries were cold, had to go up to the bar for refills, and my stomach hurt the rest of the night from the awful burger! The pasta/veggies were somewhat flavorful but soggy and all this with proud hotel prices and sorry service/atmosphere. Total spent $50 on two horrible meals, service, no music & overrun with teenagers yelling- will never return!!! And here to warn people RUN the other way! The pictures really fooled me, no vibe, it’s a hotel lobby essentially.. it was overrun with people just hanging out, no music, even tried to ask and no one knew how to put music on? Disappointing that Hotel Indigo would even have this pathetic fast food in their lobby.

Loved my Thanksgiving dinner here (the broccolini, jams and bourbon pecan pie were especially FYRE)! Also enjoyed the bat martini. Great service and vibe. Will return!

Google
Great tasting food and awesome service. After a long trip, dinner close by the Indigo was preferable. Very convenient being in the hotel. Spacious seating where you don't feel crowded. A couple of tvs in the area (one behind the bar) if watching while eating is your style. Bathrooms are near the elevators in the hotel. Not sure about parking since I utilized the hotel valet for parking. Pricing per person with an adult beverage will run around $45. Great menu options, including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. My dish was the lemon---(forgot the full name) salmon and my spouse had the braised beef short ribs. He loved his dish and so did I. The salmon dish came on top of risotto with fresh green beans and broccoli. Portion size was perfect. Very tasty, I only had to add a pinch of salt to the risotto, otherwise absolutely delicious. The bar tender acted as our waiter for dinner and was personable and very accommodating. Would definitely recommend. The restaurant has a street entrance and one within the hotel. Seating lends to the large wall of windows and doors facing the street. If being on display is not your thing, you can sit off to the side. I do believe the windows are tinted, so while your view is clear to the outside, non-patrons need to come in close contact with the glass to see in.

I don't think I can blame the waitress at all, she was great, but this place is slooooow. It took me over 20 minutes to get an order of toast to go! The restaurant nor bar was full either so it wasn't a volume issue.

Google
Highly Recommend!! I was staying at a hotel close by but came across this place & the service was INCREDIBLE!! Our bartender Iltze took very good care of us! & even the people around us she engaged with were having a good time. Next time I’m in town I am definitely coming back!

Google
This is unfortunate since I rarely leave bad reviews. We came in here for a quick breakfast since we were in a rush, NO waiters or waitresses were out here. We saw a waitress but she looked as if she saw us and hid in the back rooms. When we called someone over, the waitress came out and started to talk to the people who arrived 5-10 minutes after us. When she came over we asked for an iced latte, and she brought us out the wrong order. I normally am alright and understanding of this but she sounded very rude and like she didn’t want to be there. My knife had food on it, and the utensils didn’t seem properly washed. I loved this hotel, so I’m a little disappointed with the food here. We are still waiting on the food as I type this, it’s been 30 minutes.

Google
Martin the bar tender was very nice and energetic while pouring us the drinks. The food service was finished by the time we reached but he definitely saved our night with drinks. Very cheerful bar tender keeping the conversation light and funny. Will drink more if he is serving next we stay here. Cheers.

Yelp
Pretty standard fare for hotel breakfast, but the ingredients were of good quality and well seasoned. Very quiet in the restaurant so service was what you would expect. I'm not sure if we would have eaten here if it weren't for being attached to the Indigo, but it met the need to fuel a day in Austin

Yelp
The menu was in transition and it was clear that the hotel/restaurant are under new management. This resulted in some confusion with the opening hours for breakfast and staff still being in the middle of training. On multiple mornings I had the berries and yogurt, and on a couple of other mornings I had the breakfast tacos with brisket. Both options are solid choices. The portion size is generous as well. Morning time was generally quiet with the exception of one morning which involved a large group checkout and a lot of loud conversation. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat breakfast here, but I stayed at the Hotel Indigo and think it was an easy and reliable choice. I could have explored other breakfast options but was happy to eat here each day of my stay.

Yelp
Waited 35 minutes for pancakes and avocado toast. Ordered it to-go and got pancakes with grapes on it with no butter or syrup.... That's just weird... The avocado toast on the other hand was probably the worst I've ever had. I could barely take a bite it was incredibly soggy and just overall BAD.

Yelp
The coffee shop was coffee in a canister, that was poured and mixed with a flavoring syrup if wanted and cream. The term "coffee shop" was pretty misleading. Coffee tasted great and the server at the bar who gave me my coffee was nice.

Lena G.

Yelp
Loved my breakfast tacos with brisket. Maria who served us was extremely attentive and friendly. Highly recommend for breakfast.

Yelp
Located inside the Hotel Indigo this bar has solid cocktails and fantastic service. Martin the Bartender served us a Lemon Ginger Collins that was super refreshing (nice, strong ginger flavor) and a negroni with Aviation gin complete with a dried citrus wheel. An easy recommendation for a chill cocktail experience.

Yelp
Eggs and toast came out undercooked - part of one egg was raw. Service very slow. Bartender was friendly and apologetic.

Yelp
We stopped in for a quick drink in a Sunday morning when visiting. We asked our bartender, Martin, for some Sunday Funday suggestions and he didn't let us down! Thanks, Martin! We will be back on the next visit.

Yelp
I went to Ladybird for a friend's husband's standup comedy show. It was an amateur comedy show and several acts. I didn't eat here, but I did have wine which was very reasonably priced - less than $10 per glass. The restaurant is a part of the Hotel Indigo. I thought the staff was very efficient and friendly. It's a cool spot to see something like standup or live music. I think it would serve well as a spot to grab a drink and meet up with friends, before heading downtown.

Yelp
Shoutout to Tunji - he was the bartender both nights I stayed and knocked it out of the park. He understood my love for tequila and created an amazing mezcal cocktail fit for the Texas summer along with a reposado that was perfect on the rocks. Great presentation and prompt service.

Yelp
TUNJI X SMILES, feat. Lady Bird. Certifiably the best duo in all of Austin! Amazing service, amazing cocktails, amazing energy. They make this place

Yelp
Lady Bird is in the Indigo Hotel. The Hotel is in a great location to tons of bars and restaurants, and we did our last drink here. I highly recommended Martin our bartender. He was extremely friendly, helpful in helping select cocktails, and most importantly made a great tasting drink k.

Marion E.

Yelp
Good service the cocktails good !! The dinning area was clean and cozy yet spacious. The nachos promised to have ceso cheese . The wings good ! There was one server tending bar and dining area he did a great job . He was busy . Two servers would have been better since the place started getting busy .

Lisa C.

Yelp
I did not enjoy my ribeye and mashed potatoes at all (9/22) BUT the comedy show the night before (9/21), Tunji's drinks and customer service by all, are definitely worth the visit. Laugh a while if you can catch the show, have a beverage and then walk down the street for dinner someplace else.

Maxx M.

Yelp
Came in last minute, Tunji and Smiles hooked it up. Smiles the comedian made us laugh, and tunji made us the best drinks. Great atmosphere

Yelp
Stayed at the hotel where this restaurant was and it was the worst experience ever. To start off the menu was very limited. When we received our food we were very disappointed with the taste. I ordered 6 jumbo shrimp cocktail and it just came with 5 raw shrimps on top of some greens. Very disappointing presentation and extreme lack of taste. There was also a roach crawling around our table that I killed and asked the server for a broom to pick up. He then asked me "do you want me to pick it up or do you wanna do it?" I couldn't believe someone who works in customer service asked me to do their job. I told him I'd do it and he proceeded to give me paper towels to pick up a roach from the floor. The food was very overpriced and very underwhelming. Taste was bland and made with very poor ingredients. I ordered a sprite and it tasted very watered down. The beef nachos are mostly filled with 80% tortilla chips 15% greens and 5% beef. The manager should be ashamed of how poor quality the food is and how bad service was. Training is definitely needed in every aspect of this restaurant.

Tayja C.

Yelp
Tunji was so friendly and knowledgeable at the bar, such a pleasure to talk to! Food and service was excellent!

Shane O.

Yelp
Bartender or waitress was was not passive aggressive at all. Food was also very nice.
