Check out the Menu for Lagniappe Po’Boys, Open Today in East Nashville - Eater Nashville

"Louisiana-inspired Lagniappe Po’boys opens for takeout in East Nashville today — at the kitchen counter of Eater Nashville’s 2019 Restaurant of the Year Pelican & Pig. Owners Nick and Audra Guidry join industry veteran-turned-realtor Hunter Briley for the new venture, inspired by Nick’s childhood visits to his grandparents’ in New Orleans. The menu for opening day includes an array of seafood-filled po’boys — ranging from soft shell crab to Nashville hot catfish. Beloved beef debris makes an appearance on one po’boy, and smoked sausage on another. The Guidrys also offer a muffuletta, gumbo, Zapp’s chips, pralines, and to-go hurricanes (in single or pint form). Lagniappe is open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Place orders beginning at 11:00am Wednesday through Saturday via phone for curbside pick-up by calling 615-730-8032, or in-person for take-out." - Delia Jo Ramsey

I have passed this restaurant so many times and finally the husband and I tried it tonight. My husband loved every bit of it. I liked it. I enjoyed adding the last bit of my jambalaya to the rest of my chicken and sausage gumbo. The flavors mixed beautifully! I would like to go back but try a few other items like the shrimp and grits.

4.5 stars Wanted to try Lagniappe (lan-yap) Bayou Kitchen for a while and finally had the chance - I was not disappointed. Place was clean and has a little area to buy non food goods. Staff was attentive and food came out fast. The seafood gumbo was very flavorful and had a little kick which I enjoyed. Ordered the Mother of All Grits because I wanted to try the fish and the shrimp on their grits. Gouda cheese grits had just enough smoke to add some good flavor, I would have wanted to try the fish fried in some other form. I was stuffed halfway through and thought the entree was very good. Also ordered a 3 piece Beignets, which is where my meal was kicked up another level. Those were by far the best Beignets I have ever eaten..including Cafe du Monde in NOLA. They were crispy yet light and fluffy and not overpowered with the yeast taste. The ample powdered sugar was plenty to get your fingers gooey. Overall a very good meal that makes me want to come back to try something else!

It’s easy to miss Lagniappe Bayou Kitchen, the location’s kind of hidden and unassuming. Inside, it’s laid-back. You seat yourself, order at the counter, and drinks come in Mason jars. The food is the star here, so delicious, perfect for when you are homesick and need some cajun flavor: rich, flavorful, and comforting. You can tell they put their heart into the food and the restaurant. The portions are huge. I barely made it through half of mine. We stopped while traveling, but if I lived close this would become my favorite dinner spot!

Google
The staff is very friendly. This is almost a serve yourself place. You order at the counter, you get your own drinks and box up your leftovers. I have no problems with that and I'll tip accordingly. The food was delivered quickly and hot! It was very good but a bit overpriced. This meal was $107 including the tip.

Hands-down, this is the ultimate Cajun gem near Nashville—100% worth the trip! Just an 18-minute drive from the city, it’s a must for foodies craving authentic Cajun with a chef-driven twist. Bring your crew and flex your impeccable taste! The gator here outshines any in Tennessee, bursting with flavors straight from the swamp. My standout? The Cajun pasta, swimming in a rich, homemade cream reduction sauce. The po' boys, served on stellar artisan bread, are pure perfection. The vibe? A hidden swamp diner that feels like a movie set. This spot is top-tier—don’t miss it!

Google
This place has fresh delicious food! The prices are high, yes. But it's your choice to spend your bucks here or not. The portions are decent with what we've ordered so far. The cashier was very friendly and patient, which set the vibe for a pleasant interaction. Inside has a warm family-owned intimate feel. We will be back. Plenty of parking is always a plus!! Made my 1st review 4mos ago. Unfortunately, I'm returning because I am disappointed with my shrimp po boy. Fried shrimp lacked breading and flavor, tomatoes weren't in the best shape(soggy), not a lot of lettuce and sauce. The bread was hard. Not a huge deal but the bread being sliced all the way through doesn't hold all the tiny shrimp. I was surprised. I had to assemble my own sandwich. And no it didnt fall out during transport. I know they can produce better quality, especially for the price.

Google
Delicious food, well crafted menu. Just needs some music playing in the background. Good thing I always have Curley Taylor on standby on Pandora ready to go. The frog legs (Cajun Leg Day) were exceptional.

Google
The food was great and my catfish and okra were fried to perfect crispiness. I do however go to New Orleans about twice a year primarily to eat and if you compare it to NOLA food you will be a little disappointed. To me it was more a seafood Southern comfort with a Cajun touch, if that is even a thing. The order setup is a little different, and is very casual, so go in with an open mind. Order first at the counter, you will not be waited. Everyone was very friendly, and gave local restaurant vibe which I love. Will be returning. Also my picture doesn’t do justice how crispy my catfish was. I despise soggy fried fish, so I was very satisfied!

Yelp
We've been here before almost 2 years ago and it was good. Came here for lunch and we're not sure if the owner changed, but we were extremely disappointed. We ordered: gumbo, shrimp poor boy, and a soft shell crab poor boy. The gumbo was not good. It was a literal soup. It was just broth, shredded chicken, a few andouille sausages, and rice. It was pretty bland too. The bread on the side was stale too. The shrimp poor boy and the soft shell crab poor boy sandwiches were also disappointing. The shrimp poor boy fell apart and it was mostly all tomato with a few breaded shrimp. My soft shell crab was the same with a tiny little crab. I ended up just eating the crab ‍. Two stars because I liked the French fries. For almost 60.00, this was not worth it. In the future, we will be driving to Franklin to eat at the White Alligator. Good luck to this place!

Yelp
Great food. Spicy! The remoulade sauce tastes homemade and very fresh. Fries are amazing. Portion sizes are good. We didn't have desert but the sizes of those looked huge! There aren't many tables. Small and cozy. You order at a counter and then the food is brought to you. We didn't mind. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
It guess it's pronounced Lan-Yap! You'll never guess you're not in NOLA when you visit this place. The food is so rich and comforting. It's a lot of food, so you get a lot of bang for your buck. I came for the boudin balls, and wasn't disappointed. They have daily specials so check the board when you walk in. When you walk in, you pick a table and then order at the counter. They'll bring you the food as it's ready. They have plenty of seating, and it's a great place to bring a family or meet with friends.

Yelp
Great experience this time. Solid Louisiana flavors in a relaxed casual atmosphere. More than enough, everyone took a box of food home.

Yelp
Lagniappe Bayou Kitchen has a very Cajun seafood forward menu. When you enter the restaurant you order at the counter and seat yourself. The lady behind the counter was very friendly. On our visit here we tried the debris fries, jambalaya, and shrimp po boy. The debris fries were topped with roast beef, cheese, and sour cream. I think they would benefit from a little beef gravy as the dish overall seemed a bit dry. My husband enjoyed his jambalaya, and it was a good portion size. My po boy was on a very dense bread that was hard to take a bite of, and the remoulade sauce was very spicy, so I got a side of mayo to mix the two. The fried okra I got as my side was very good. If we return I would try some of the other items on the menu.

Yelp
This place is fire! From the friendly service once you enter to the hot, fresh food. Everything that we ordered was good, with the exception of the greens, I wasn't a fan. When you walk in they have a "special" board, do yourself a favor and check that out. Duck wontons were the special on this day and O M G! Kudos to the chef for pairing them with what I think was a strawberry jalapeño jam, whoa. The Host/Cashier/Waitress/Food Runner/Busser was on her game and never looked rattled. Keep her around, she's an all star!

Yelp
The cajun food is amazing I have tried nearly everything on the menus and it is spot on.

Yelp
I have forgotten multiple times to post this review since Lagniappe opened back in 2020 but here I am finally. This is an excellent Cajun restaurant & rivals anything I've had outside & inside of NOLA as far as taste & quality is concerned. My favorite dishes are the mother of all Grits & the Boudin balls, but you can't go wrong with anything here. They also have great desserts from time to time. Entree portions are large & the price justified by size & quality, The dining area is small & shares a little merchandise area. You walk up to the counter & place your order & pay then find a seat & they bring it out to you. Drinks are self serve. Busy times & days mean you will not have a seat unless you come early or wait around to order. Luckily for us this is the closest place to eat from my house at only 4 minutes drive, but if you are traveling a ways to come here plan accordingly as it's popular & can get full quickly,

Yelp
My wife and I enjoyed a delicious dinner. The service was fast and friendly. We always look for local places like this to eat, always better than chains.

Yelp
I love everything about this place! The outside is cute and it really stands out for the area. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere just off the highway, which just adds to the appeal in my opinion. Inside it is clean & cozy and feels like a little Bayou oasis. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. The guy at the counter was so friendly and so helpful; I think he might have been the owner and/or a chef. I got a bottled Abita Root Beer (super good) and I started with the Duck Wontons on special because they sounded interesting. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was blown away! I'd maybe describe the filling like a smoky duck chowder, and the raspberry-jalapeno jelly dipping sauce was amazing. I'd buy that by the gallon. For my meal, I actually went way out of my comfort zone and tried the Crawfish Etoufee. I first confirmed with the guy at the counter that I didn't actually have to pick up a crawfish to eat it, so I went for it since it was fully cooked in the sauce. It was fabulous! It came with rice and bread, but seriously the sauce was so good. I only got a cup and it was a lot. I need to come back to try everythinggggg else.

Yelp
This place has been on my radar for awhile and I'm so glad I finally tried it. First let's start with the staff being amazing. From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed and comfortable. Everyone was happy to answer any questions we had and I love the chalk wall for kids to draw on in the dining room. Second when we asked what was good on the menu and received the answer "EVERYTHING"...they were not lying. We had several people in our party and made our meals family style trying everything. All our food was well seasoned, authentic to Louisiana, and tasted amazing! We even got a slice of the strawberry-jalapeño cheesecake to go and that was even good! Overall this is a must try!!!!

Yelp
Thought i was down south in cajun country. It was good I've been twice. Not fancy but cute and clean. Shrimp and grits were fantastic. Excellent blackened catfish. Shrimp and oyster PoBoy was good on the fresh French bread. Service was fine. Not a large staff. You may want to call ahead to confirm hours for the day. High quality seafood, so it costs a little more than you would normally pay for a meal in middle TN. But worth it!
google avatar

Brian T. H.

Yelp
Everything I've tried on the menu is outstanding. The owner is always super friendly. A little pricey, but worth it!

Yelp
Food was excellent, Red Fish was tasteful, Crab Rangoon was some of the best I have had. Can't remember the name but it was a cheese cake with apples, Amazing!!!! So was the New Orleans Coffee! Will be going back to try other dishes....highly recommend!

Yelp
Man I REALLY wanted to love this place and was SOOO excited to try it out. The setting is super cute. The staff I talked to were super sweet. ughhh... but the food. I hate having to write this but being honest, it was just not good, and hopefully from the other reviews, I was a one off. The boudain balls didn't come with any sauce. They tasted burnt and no room for any other taste from that. What was really soul crushing was the Chicken and Sausage Gumbo. I have never seen a broth-like-soupy gumbo before like this and it just seemed like a crime to call it a gumbo. It was ALL watery broth with no roux in sight. The amount of meat in it was great, but there was no flavor, watery broth and meat. No celery, onion, bell pepper, okra...Gumbo should be stick to your ribs stew, but this was a soup. And to boot...prices...a bit steep. All the other reviews and pictures look sooo much better so not sure if something has changed here recently or just an off day.

Yelp
We were in the area looking for a place for lunch and the wife found this place . We love Cajun food and we had to try it. Atmosphere very southern friendly! Started with swamp chicken which are fried gator bites . They were tasty & tender. For lunch I had crawfish tacos and wife had blackened catfish tacos . Both were a good sized portion. The staff are very friendly and gave a discount for first responders. Will come back again when in the area.

Yelp
It's that time to come back to Goodlettsville and Madison, I would never miss to drop by and have a good ol' southern style cookin'! This time around got me some Poorboy swamp chicken and man they were tasty! Better than chicken I tell you. Also, grab me a to go of Poorboy shrimp as well!

Yelp
I leave a lot of good reviews, but I am also very critical. When I say this genuinely may be the best restaurant i've ever stepped foot in, I mean it. You walk in to this totally American small town cafe ambiance, you'd never expect it to be the most delicious and dare I say authentic cajun food in the entirety of Tennessee. I love the natural flow from the moment you walk in the door. You pick up a menu, and seat yourself. On your own time you can choose exactly what you want, then walk up to the counter to order it. Side note, free refills are an instant +1 star for me, I love it! Once the food hits your table, you'll instantly see this isn't just another restaurant. Not only is every meal delicious and rich in flavor, it's presented delicately, cleanly, and beautifully. Also...they make their own chipotle sauce from scratch, I mean come on!!! Not trying Lagniappe would be a disservice to yourself, and I mean it with all my heart. You have got to try it. Maybe try the BBQ Brisket Tacos...oh and don't forget to add the chipotle sauce (;

Cary G.

Yelp
A feel good down home small business feel with big taste and big menu, one of those that there is so much you wanna try hard to decide. I had river rangoon and froglegs. Rangoon had big chunks of crawfish and excellent filling deep fried to perfection and with the frog legs also fried to perfection and not undercooked at all Duck wonton is next

Tara H.

Yelp
Took my husband for a birthday dinner & this place was perfect. It was a nice quiet spot to enjoy time together. He ordered the salmon special & I couldn't get a picture before he dug in. The corn was a good spicy flavor & the greens were amazing. I had the plate with a healthy serving of rice & beef. There was plenty left to take home. Our first swamp chicken was chewy but they quickly fixed another. It wasn't our favorite but could be yours. The manager was awesome. He came to check on us & carried on a quick conversation. We will absolutely be back & have told everyone we know in the area to stop by.

Kenzie M.

Yelp
Food was great. Cute atmosphere. We are not from the area but so glad we stumbled across this little gem!

Yelp

Yelp
Food was good, but nothing outstanding...nice atmosphere. We tried shrimp n grits along with a burger. Meals were pricey but had good size portions.

Yelp
We've spent the last week in Kentucky and are traveling back to Texas. We decided we wanted to eat before we hit Nashville when this cute little restaurant popped up on our map. So glad we stopped! As soon as we walked in a young lady greeted us with a menu and instructions on how to order. Excellent service from the get go! Between the four of us we had one soft shell crab po' boy, two spicy chicken po' boys, and a kids chicken tenders. The bread was soft and fluffy while the crab and tenders were fried well and not the slightest bit greasy. The highlight of the po' boys was the housemade roumelade! Chef's kiss, amazing! For the long road home we opted for beignets to go as well as their Cajun coffee (espresso, steamed milk, condensed milk) with a shot of vanilla. By far, this is the best food we've had all week!

Yelp
Took a little road trip to Goodlettsville to visit Lagniappe Bayou Kitchen...been following them for several months now. On their FB feed yesterday they advertised Beef Tenderloin Stroganoff as the Sunday Special, this one of my favorite "comfort food" dishes. I was greeted by Cassie who went over how things worked there and told me a bit about the place. I went with the Cajun Seafood Gumbo (shrimp and crab) along with the Beef Tenderloin Stroganoff. The Gumbo had wonderful base flavor and a heat that kinda sneaks up on you but not overly hot. Plenty of seafood in the mix and LOVED the crusty French Bread for dipping into the broth. The Beef Tenderloin Stroganoff...some of the best I've had in quite a long time. The tenderloin was plentiful and extremely tender (no knife needed) while the cavatappi pasta was perfectly Al dente and a great compliment to capture and hold the sauce. The mushrooms were nicely cooked but still maintained their bite, the onions were perfectly caramelized, and the sauce...WOW. The sauce for this dish is exceptional and really sets it apart...rich, beefy, creamy, and pleasingly satisfying. I know this was the Sunday Special...so I recommend following their FB Page for the next time it is available. The menu has some really great Cajun dishes...I'm thinking Crawfish Etouffee and a slab of fried Redfish on top??? This is a comfortable local spot where they source what they serve from the Gulf...even the bread for the sandwiches. Cassie told me they are still waiting for their Beer license. Overall this was well worth the 50 mile drive experience the food and hospitality of this place. I saw some other dishes delivered to customers, everything looked great. As for the service Cassie (Texas Native) is a gem and you can tell she loves what she does...great food and service!!!

Kaitlin

Yelp
I do not leave many reviews because I've worked in food and beverage for my whole life but if you're from Louisiana looking for some Cajun food avoid at all costs. So so so bad.... The rice wasn't even cooked in the jambalaya or red beans and rice, the staples. I hope they take this review to heart and put it into their menu.

Yelp
Delicious!!!! Cat fish tacos and banana pudding!!! YUM!!! ...and the service was excellent! Very kind people!!!

Yelp
Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the ambiance was nice. It's a cute little place. The chairs though, were not meant for larger people, so uncomfortable. Portion sizes were HUGE. We ordered a cup of chicken and sausage gumbo and a cup of crawfish etouffe and it was more like a bowl. They were both delicious and so filling. The roast beef poboy, was good, but definitely different than what you get in New Orleans. It was just like pot roast with no debris gravy. However the roast beef with debris gravy over rice was excellent. I got red beans and rice as a side and it came in what most restaurants would call a cup. The portion was great for a side, but there were only a couple pieces of sausage and way too much rice. The beignets were more like sopapillas, not doughy or pillowy. Overall everything tasted amazing. I'm just nitpicking.

Ed K.

Yelp
We had heard about this restaurant from friend in Franklin,Tn. We went on a Tuesday, oops, closed on Monday and Tuesday. Went today, May 10,2024, and it was awesome. My wife's grilled brisket/cheese with a side of grits and gouda cheese was special. I had fried catfish which was the best. I had a side of french fries which were like I have never had. They were good. The one thing I will consider the next time is the quanity of food you get. We brought food home . I saw some othe rmeals being served which looked awesome. I can not wait to return.

Kellye Y.

Yelp
We had fried seafood platters. The catfish was the best I've ever had. I'm from Arkansas so I know catfish. Don't judge the place on the outside appearance... inside the decor is small but nice and the service was quick!

Brian D.

Yelp
The food is not bad. But for the price you shouldn't have to order at the counter. The staff is very friendly.

Len P.

Yelp
Food is ok nothing great about it . service horrible wife received food 15 minutes later I received my food manager said nothing so I sent it back and ask for my money back back and a little BS from Him I walk out. I will never eat their or recommend it to anyone with taste

JoanLee S.

Yelp
Excellent authentic Louisiana food and decor. Highly recommend this charming place. We were warmly welcomed by the owner and chef. Not to be missed.

Yelp
Everything there is more than wonderful. The staff, cooks, and owner. They are all very pleasant. Its is truly a New Orleans style restaurant. I haven't had anything that I don't like. It's just things I like more than others. I recommend everything.

Yelp
You have to go to the register to put your order in and then pay first before you get service. Good place to try. Good Food and Good service. But it is expensive.$$$!!
google avatar

Patrick O.

Yelp
Mixed experience. The food was generally good but inconsistent. Biggest issue was that food came out at different times so that by the time everyone had their meal the first one was cold. Then the same thing happened with desserts. Some came out right away, another seemed to be forgotten and came late. Twice in one meal! Not good. The service issues aside, place was cute; service was courteous and friendly. Food was very good in some cases and just ok in others.
google avatar

Yelp
Not really any competition around so heck yeah if you want some Cajun food. Love their okra.

Issac H.

Yelp
Had the blackened shrimp and a bowl of gumbo, both of them real good. got your food pretty fast.

Yelp
Food was fantastic and delicious. Had the gumbo and roast beef w debris gravy so flavorful. Can't wait to go back try other items.

Yelp
Just 5 miles from home we were surprised to have never run across Lagniappes (pronounced Lan-yaps). My husband and I both have close family ties to Louisiana and were looking forward to trying it out. We checked out the menu before heading over and knew the price point was a range-you know you can get out of there at a decent cost or splurge a little-we were down. We almost missed the restaurant going down Springfield highway, it was a little set back off the road. When we went in there was no one to seat us or give direction we kind of just had to intuit the situation. We grabbed a menu and stood at the counter (I must admit I was mentally side eyeing the thought of paying for a 35$ entree that I ordered at a counter but was staying open). The woman at the register was very friendly and told us to grab a table and come up when we were ready to order which we did. We were there to try some seafood dishes and once decided on went back to the register. We ordered crab cakes, blackened shrimp tacos (touting to be accompanied by a slaw and their special chipotle sauce) French fries and the blackened shrimp dinner. We were told they were out of the "dinner shrimp" but offered my husband the dish be made of "popcorn shrimp like the po boys". My husband passed and decided he'd have the crab cakes as an entree. We got our drinks from a fountain machine and went back to our table. While we waited on our food I went to peruse the little gift shop-even bought a couple of things. Not everything was priced so I had to ask the fellow behind the counter about that but ended up getting a great shirt and some cafe du monde chicory coffee (did you know cafe du monde had a French roast? I did not). So some cute gifts for sure. Our food eventually arrives and the first to come to the table is the crab cakes. My husband is from Maryland and well there was just a certain expectation (understanding we were in TN). The cakes were about 25$ and nary a lump in site. They just weren't very good and way too much bready filler. My blackened shrimp tacos were just terrible and I really tried to stay positive about this. The shrimp was not blackened-they just weren't even pretending to be. The "slaw" was a sprinkle of finely diced green cabbage-where are you from that that's called slaw-and...the special chipotle sauce...not there. Since there is no table service I got up to ask for the sauce which I was handed almost as if it was a favor that wanted something to dip my fries in. The tacos were 17$. As we were leaving I learned that the gentlemen we'd been speaking with was the chef and lived in Kentucky. The nice woman at the counter said she live close by in goodletsville. I was a little surprised since the website describes a husband and wife operation from Texas. After leaving I saw a post on instagram where it looks like the restaurant changed hands in 6/2022. I'm sure glad I didn't splurge on my first visit I feel like I would've been pretty disappointed. Great ambiance, lots of positive attributes and potential but at the end of the day, the quality of the dishes are severely lacking in all aspects and this with the price point just makes us not want to return or recommend. I mean...a Po Boy is 24$?! Eek

Yelp
The grits alone are fantastic enough to eat by themselves. Very wholesome and filling.. Never been to New Orleans but I can taste the culinary culture in this meal. I'm curious and anxious to try out the whole menu

Aimee G.

Yelp
So we are visiting here from Louisiana so of course we are skeptical of anything claiming to be creole, cajun, bayou or anything like that, but it was delicious! I had the blackened shrimp and that was probably the best I've ever had. My son had the Fat Tuesday burger and it was huge, he said it was so good and kept making "mmmmm" noises while eating lol. My daughter had the fried shrimp and said it was good too, those fries are delicious. My husband had the muffuletta and that thing was gone! The staff was very friendly and kept asking how everything was. The restaurant was very clean.
google avatar

Yelp
How can you eff up dirty rice??? The waiter was nice tho.. But damn it, man. I was so hungry. Bitch, where's my dirty rice?!

Yelp
Great selections in the menu and the food is excellent; as authentic to gulf coast/Louisiana as you can get up here. Service was also excellent. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 for me is price. Maybe it's the cost of getting proper ingredients up here, but it's literally twice the price for comparable selections on the gulf from Pensacola to New Orleans. Yeah I just paid $35 for a shrimp po-boy and a cup of cheese grits, but it was good (Fish River Grill or Shrimp Basket in Foley/Gulf Shores would run maybe $14-16)!

Yelp
Delicious!!!!! Incredible sauces, entres and sandwiches. And the house made desserts are amazing.

Yelp
This place is a gem. If you are in the Goodletsville antique mall area, this is a must stop for some southern comfort food. Pick anything and you wouldn't go wrong!

Yelp
This place has gone from good to something less. Don't get me wrong, I love Kevin Bolton...but even his best efforts look awful, ie., no presentation. Look, this is not New Orleans cooking with French influence. It's Cajun. In other words, it's basic cookery that looks like hell which you pay a bundle for, and which comes without hurry or service. Unless you l-o-v-e Cajun, are prepared to eat it in a cafe, don't care that the front door pathway is filthy, and grease encrusted and that the food is served without service and slowly, and is not good unless you like Cajun, go elsewhere. It really has become that bad.
