"On the ground floor, there is one proper bar and that’s Lagom, translating roughly to 'just the right amount' — which is perfect since it’s a beer and wine operation." - Paolo Bicchieri

Yelp
I am in town for a biotech conference and I'm eating by myself tonight so I wanted something near my hotel and ideally fast casual. I did t realize that an IKEA opened on Market Street and interestingly they opened a food court next to the IKeA and apparently they serve food there from IKEA earlier in the day. Their restaurant was closed when I arrived but the second floor has a number of fast casual restaurants including some familiar names (aka Curry Up) and those I had never heard of. Great reviews for the Algerian restaurant - KAYMA - so I ordered their flavorful chicken bowl w couscous and a smoked eggplant salad (banaganoush) and some delicious grilled red peppers - and it was a solid portion, and every element of it was delicious. Seriously delicious. I believe it was called the Pajaj Paradise Bowl - get that !! For S.F. a $20 bowl of delicious food is a bargain. And it was in a nice, secure and inviting location. The space is clean and nice, there were communal tables with plants and nice warm modern lighting and the bar area had glasses of water as well. This close to the Tenderloin on Market street - a nice surprise. We will be back when attending the nearby theatres !! We found a new place to get a happy hour drink (M-F) and a quick hardy meal on a safe and secure place. I might even wander aimlessly in IKeA next visit. It closes early on Sundays !

Yelp
Recently we sampled the variety of food and beverages from this location. It's basically a food haul attached to an Ikea that houses restaurant "kiosks" as well as soft serve and bakery items. It's a great idea, especially when you have a group of people that don't typically agree on what to eat. There are multiple levels with lots of different options for food and most of the places we tried were very good. There was plenty of seating available and the bathrooms were clean. I'm certain that I saw multiple people inside who were not even patronizing any of the establishments and just came in to sit and chat or get some work done at one of the tables. I had a good experience here but I feel compelled to take off a star for the fact that they are not dog friendly. I understand that food is served here, but the dining section where you are seated is basically an open area and my dog is a lot cleaner than many of the humans I saw seated inside. You would think in a place like San Francisco people would be working to make things more inclusive. That being said, everyone that was with me enjoyed their lunch and our ability to socialize while all selecting different types of foods that we would personally prefer. If you have some time to kill after you eat and you still want to walk around and chat with friends, you can wander through the attached Ikea and get lost. This is a big city, but I would still most likely return here if I was with a group of people who couldn't decide what they wanted if we all agreed that a very casual location would work. I would also love to see them work toward becoming dog friendly.

Yelp
I walked 1.5 miles in a unfortunately now sketchy SF to get to where I thought I might be able to sit or grab dinner to go. I had high hopes but a bunch of the restaurants are closed early before dinner time even..... I basically wasted my time coming here and they should post the hours of the places somewhere easy too find and update them properly online....I wanted my time going upstairs to find the places I wanted to try were closed earlier than they should be... I can't say anything else good about this place other than it was clean inside...

Yelp
Beautiful, spacious 2-story food hall with their main entrance on Market Street. My friends and I went to check out Saluhall last Saturday night around 6pm before heading over to SF Playhouse on Post (a few walkable streets over), and the hall was not too crowded yet still very vibrant. They have restrooms with multiple stalls on the first floor with staff member who keypads a code in to enter. With many options to pick, we landed on Kayma Algerian Eatery on level 2 for our mains including: 1. ALGERIAN SPICED FRIES for $7 which includes French fries seasoned with cumin and ras el hanout spices with garlicky dipping sauce. Added chicken for extra $9. (Thoughts: Crispy and we'll seasoned, and the garlicky sauce was the winner. Would skip the chicken next time, it wasn't bad, just felt it didn't mean much for me). 2. BLOSSOM LIMONADE | Orange blossom scented organic limonade with mint $6 (Loved this!! Lemony and packed with flavor ) 2. KAYMA BOWL | DAJAJ PARADISE BOWL for $20 which includes Chicken breast marinated in yogurt, tomato, onion, cumin, and ras el hanout couscous with fire-roasted bell pepper hamiss (friend said this was good and a great portion, had leftovers) 3. IKEA'S Swedish Meatballs (A classic) 4. Empanada with impossible meat Plenty of seats, food options/variety that can satisfy your cravings. Would come back!

Yelp
Clean and modern food hall with lots of plant-based dining options that is right next to IKEA in SOMA. There are two floors of eateries along with a kitchen where they host cooking classes and private rooms that can be booked out for events. It's a good place to chill and hang out; the drinks selection (beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic options) seemed pretty decent as well. Easily accessible by public transit but there is also a parking garage. I had a soup and mushroom toast at the cafe that was quite yummy. Overall, I would like to come back again someday!

Yelp
So much vegan food!! This place has ample seating and several food options! The cocktails at Punsch hit the spot!! You grab your food and sit down at the bar or any of the empty tables and have a good time :) we tried vegan tacos and it was delicious!! The Al pastor and carnitas, garlic naan and pani puri! Both were amazing!

Claire C.

Yelp
Actually very high quality place to eat! If you can brave the walk down market street, Saluhall has a large variety of vendors and many are vegan/vegetarian. The dining area is modern, clean, well lit with a calming atmosphere. The vendors were all extremely nice and we ended up ordering from multiple stalls. My group who are big meat eaters (think house of prime rib regulars) loved Casa Borinquena, which is a vegan take on Puerto Rican food. The noodles at Momo Noodle were delicious and full of flavor. Prices were reasonable all around. Excited to try the other stalls!

Yelp
Saluhall is a great new addition to the Market St neighborhood between Powell and Civic Center Stations, with a variety of food options available and plenty of space to gather with friends and community. THE SPACE // There are two floors, and you can enter from Market St on the ground floor or from the IKEA side on the ground or second floors. The ground floor has high ceilings and lots of communal seating, and friendly security staff at both the street entrance and to help open the locked restrooms. The space has been clean and well-maintained on every visit so far. THE FOOD // The ground floor has a variety of Saluhall-specific food options, including a baked goods and coffee bar, a dairy-free soft serve spot, a plant-based burger bar, and a beer bar. Upstairs are more varied food options from local restaurants, including Indian, Algerian, Mexican, Chinese, and Puerto Rican cuisine. You can also order from IKEA's food area from the Saluhall side if you're craving some $1-2 hot dogs or Swedish meatballs. A lot of the food options are plant-forward, e.g. vegetarian or vegan, but there are also meat options! So far, I've really enjoyed: + From Smörgåsland (the bakery/coffee area on the ground floor): the savory farm egg danish, flat white, and Chocolate Spandauer for a sweet treat! + From upstairs: the crispy Coca Hand Pie, Dajaj Paradise Bowl (which has chicken in it), and the hot Sahara mint green tea from Kayma; and Popo's sesame and peanut sauce noodles from MoMo Noodle. My friends have also enjoyed the vegan tacos from La Venganza and the sampler plate from Casa Borinquena. + From Snöberg (dairy-free soft serve made with oatmilk, on the ground floor): not quite as satisfying as dairy milk ice cream for me, but the chocolate soft serve swirled with crushed Oreos was still a nice light sweet treat. Portion was enough to share between 2. Strong Oatly flavor. We've also tried one of the cocktails from the upstairs cocktail bar and thought it was a bit watery - even as someone who doesn't drink much. I hope more people come to check out Saluhall and all that it has to offer!

Yelp
Saluhall a new food hall that opened in April this year that's connected to IKEA. The whole food hall is VEGAN. Or was it all vegetarian? Either way, there's cuisine from all different cultures. Whether you're craving a spicy chicken sandwich, tacos, noodles, or naan & curry this place has it all. They also do trivia night Mondays! Ambiance is fast casual but also a communal vibe. We grabbed a (vegan) chicken sandwich from the burger place and sat at Lagome bar. The sandwich hit the spot but the drinks at Lagome were even better. Our guy Tony the bartender hooked it up with great recommendations & service! We got the FORT POINT CIDER & ROSE SOUR (Brokers Gin, Elderflower, Grapefruit, Aquafaba) & mannnn these hit the spot. Definitely coming by to try their coconut slushy next! And eyeing the vegan tacos upstairs for my next visit. Cheers!

Yelp
Love this food court with all the variety of vegan fare and cuisine from all over the world! The decor inside was spooky Halloween so I loved it even more. The people who work here are nice. Lots of smiles. There's even a friendly face at the bathrooms who enter the code for you to use the facilities. The dining area is very clean and gives off hipster vibes. You don't feel like you're at a food court. More like someone's enormous dining hall or a winery with all the wood furniture. Will come here anytime I can before heading to the theater.

Christina L.

Yelp
I love salulhal. Photobooths. Bars, diverse food options, open and expansive spaces.. what more can you ask for? It's a good spot to pop into after an IKEA trip, I've met people after work here and there's even a baking class tucked in the back. There's one spot with Asian-flavored noodles, another with Mexican (vegan options too), and those are the ones I've tried. All pretty solid!

Allison W.

Yelp
Came here almost at opening on a Sunday morning and it was pretty barren because most of the dining options are closed until a little later. We just wanted a quick bite before shopping at Ikea, so worked out for us. I got the Farm Egg Danish, which visually is so stunning -- love the bright yolk in the center and contrasting green garnish! I wish it came warm though. The pastry was nice and flaky, and it was the right amount of cheese without being too dominant in flavor. As a note, the egg yolk was not runny. We were a little confused at first about the clean up procedure here, but luckily the staff were super helpful in answering our questions. There's plenty of seating inside (though the benches can be heavier than they look), and there's a door straight from the dining hall into the Ikea. Love the convenience of this place!

Jolens V.

Yelp
The food is really diverse its like an international food hall. From hamburgers to Couscous. There is also a dessert place.,The Mediterranean restaurants cashiers were very nice. The place is new and clean. Theres 2 floors and the layout is very good.

Lauren T.

Yelp
Had a great experience at Burgare Bar! For just $15 (a steal by San Francisco standards), I got fries, a cheeseburger, and a Mexican Coke. The burger took a little longer than expected, but it was cooked to order, so definitely worth the wait. The fries with "forest salt" didn't wow me, but the cheeseburger was delicious! Honestly, I couldn't even tell it wasn't beef, which is a big win for anyone looking for a tasty, plant-based option. Definitely a solid meal for the price!

Linh S.

Yelp
I've heard a lot about this food hall and was excited to try it out. It's located in the IKEA on Market Street - so it's pretty easy to take public transportation or walk from an office downtown. There are two levels with diverse choices - I heard around 80% of the food is plant-based. I went for early dinner on a Saturday and it wasn't crowded at all. I was expecting long lines but there weren't any - the vendors were pretty friendly and ready to answer any questions we had. I was impressed with the decor and the seating arrangement, plenty of tables available even for the weekend! I went for noodles at Momo and baked goods at SMÖRGÅSLAND, but there were so many great options, hoping to come back and try something new!

Yelp
Saluhall is the newest food hall in Downtown SF that's located right next to the city IKEA. It's clean, fresh feeling, and has a variety of eateries to please a lot of different taste buds. La Venganza is located on the top floor as the only 100% plant based option inside the food haul, and I was happy to see them selling tacos, tortas, and fries to all the hungry vegans like myself. I couldn't resist and ordered their Carne Asada (made from seitan) Fries, which was absolutely loaded and a delicious meal with all the right fixings. It came out to $20 which is a bit steep but these are SF prices I suppose. Strangely, the hall does not offer any sort of compostable utensils so you'll have to bring your own if you are planning to grab takeout from the hall.

Yelp
I randomly decided to try Smörgåsland bakery and cafe serving breakfast, lunch and dinner which I never heard of before. Apparently Claus Meyer, who started Copenhagen's famed Noma developed Smörgåsland conce Most of the restaurants here I am not familiar with unless they are the food trucks upstairs the momo and curry up now that I heard of before. I was excited to try Scandinavian food something I am not familiar with, so why not start with the pastries first? The almond Frøsnapper is my favorite! I bought some random pastries like the Pain au cinnamon and Spandauer because they looked unique. I enjoy their texture and unique taste. Not oily at all. I would love to come back to try their other products and come earlier in day to get the egg pasty. Previously I came with a friend and we split our Momo noodle dish from upstairs and Burgare Bar that offers meat-free burgers made with patties from Beyond Meat. I was impressed with both places, the vegetarian dishes were both quite lovely and I felt healthier just eating them. LOL Yup, I would plan to come back to try more cuisines out. Great addition to downtown S.F. to make things more vibrant.

Yelp
We were able to go on the opening day just as they opened the doors for lunchtime. The atmosphere was charged with excitement, lots of smiling face, people guiding and greeting you. We chose the Puerto Rican restaurant and I can say having been to Puerto Rico multiple times that their food was on par with being there. I loved the variety of choices and seating in this two story establishment. They even have a space for cooking classes. So happy we were there for the opening event.

Rebecca H.

Yelp
Near food court with different options. The staff are helpful and keep it clean. Great option for nights when nobody can agree on what to eat.

Emily F.

Yelp
Checked this out finally. Came for lunch on a weekday and wasn't very busy. It's very clean, open, and spacious. There's a bar on each floor and love the variety of cuisines. We tried several cocktails, bakery, and food. Bakery was delish. Flaky and flavorful and good options. The mofongo cups were great. I loved how crispy they were and the "chicken" was good too. I sorta wish there was a bit more sauce is all but would get again. We also tried fried mushrooms and impossible nuggets that were great. The cocktails were ok but didn't love any of them. All the mix is premade and not made to order so can't change it up and don't know how or won't make fresh. Prices felt a bit high all around. Good place if you're vegan or vegetarian as there's lots of options for sure.

D C G.

Yelp
Amazing food! Amazing space! We ordered from 3 different stalls, and they were all impressive. I say this having just had dinner at the Progress last night. All SF residents should come and celebrate this new addition to our city.

Jon C.

Yelp
I love going to Saluhall! There's 2 floors. I believe there's 2 or 3 bars and local eateries upstairs. A lot of the food they offer is vegan focused BUT there are also meat options. It's super clean inside and noticed that there's a security guard to let people in and out of the bathrooms which I think is a great and smart thing for them to do. There's also a security guard outside or by the entrance. The inside is super modern, clean, and overall nice. It connects to the IKEA as well. It's a great space for people to hang out after work for happy hour or even just a coworking space. I see a bunch of people doing work on their laptops. I've been here several times and so far tried one of the bars, Momo Noodle, and the bakery downstairs. I'll definitely be back more to try out the other places and happy hour. ($5 beers 4-6pm on weekdays). Overall an amazing addition to the Mid-Market area to promote foot traffic.

Martin W.

Yelp
IKEA brought a scandavian tradition to the market street and I'll hope it stays and it part of the revitalization that the street needs so much. The hall is literally small food cart kiosks. All different cuisines and all are so delicious. In addition a great yoghurt ice and drink station. It is on two floors and it's so cozy you stay for longer than just eating. It is mostly self order and then they walk it to your table kind of service or at the food carts it's just pickup when they call your number. Pretty easy and simple. I had an amazing breakfast sandwich and some coffee. And I will be back often! Well whenever I am around market street for sure!

John S.

Yelp
I've only been a few times, but Saluhall may one day (soon) attain five-star status in John S.'s tattered Yelp book, and if it does, it will be deserving. I've only tried two of its restaurants so far. I don't have real criticisms, only whispers of outlines of ghosts of criticisms. Whisper of Outline of Ghost of Criticism #1: Why are there so many stairs? I understand that an upstairs-and-downstairs design requires stairs, but this many? Why didn't they pre-design the stairs better? My lazy self is more likely to walk to IKEA and take its escalators than to deal with these stairs. Whisper of Outline of Ghost of Criticism #2: Why is it so dark back in the corner? Why is it so dark overall, actually? The entire space is lovely, but it's not well lit. I guess they could have gone the opposite way and made it way too bright, but we can have nice things in San Francisco, I promise; we just need to speak our minds more and look strangely at the weirdos whose weirdo ideas get taken way too seriously by way too many people. Whisper of Outline of Ghost of Criticism #3: What's with only being to get water at the bars? As in, why aren't there self-serve water stations, and more than one of them on each floor? That's all I've got for whispers of outlines of ghosts of criticisms. The place is gorgeous. And there's plenty of room for your large group, you by your lonesome, your non-romantic date, your roommate-being-a-third-wheel date, and everything in between. This place should be a bigger deal in San Francisco, and maybe it is. I'm just not a member of any online "community" other than Yelp, so I don't know what's popular and what isn't popular anymore. It feels good being a full-grown adult, although I might trade some of the aches and pains for stupid, short-sighted decisions. Who knows? I need to return, and often, so if you see me here, don't stop by. Just leave me alone. Unless you can explain the difference between a veggie dog and plant dog.

Casey Q.

Yelp
This was a relatively new spot that shares the space with IKEA. Most, if not all, food options in this food hall are vegetarian. I did not know this coming in, but all the food was pretty good. With all the food being vegetarian, that drove the prices up a bit. There is plenty of seating and I don't think this spot would ever get too overcrowded. Also, if you want the traditional IKEA food, it is in the food hall as well.

Erich L.

Yelp
Nice indoor food court that's right next to the IKEA. You can get a variety of cuisines and they have a couple of bars. Good choice for a quick and cheaper meal option.

Cathrin P C.

Yelp
Meh and underwhelming. I've been eager to check out Saluhall since food halls have been all the latest rage. I've seen a lot of social media publicizing Saluhall and honestly in person, it seems way smaller and all the food options have a bias in favor of vegetarians and vegans. I found it hard to find a meal with adequate amounts of animal protein. A few of the food stalls don't even acknowledge your existence because ordering is done through a kiosk so it feels very impersonal -- I mean you can clearly see me as a potential customer standing there looking at your menu so the least you can do is have common courtesy to greet me. We came on a Saturday and since we didn't want to deal with the ridiculous parking and expensive lots, we took muni which was totally convenient. Downtown is definitely not what I remember from 10 years ago. Saluhall makes an attempt to provide a casual and cozy environment for everyone to grab a bite. We tried Momo Noodles and Curry Up: Tikka Masala Bowl $18.47 -only 2 pieces of chicken Deconstructed Samosa $17.38 -better ratio of chicken but a lot of potato Spicy pork noodle bowl $17.33 Spicy chicken popo bowl $20.04 -both bowls have a lot of noodles and the spicy chicken bowl was expensive for what you got... the chicken was also dry and not as spicy as I had asked for I think this was a lotta hype for a mediocre type of food hall

Cherylynn N.

Yelp
Looking for a place to hide to get work done? Or, get your day drank on? Saluhall. It's 5 o'clock somewhere. Well, except if you're in payroll cuz if you're lit...$$$$ bonuses for everyone! Saluhall is a new massive food hall next door to Ikea, an ambitious project from sister company, Ingka Centres. There's 8 food vendors open for takeout and indoor dining only. And, 3 bars. They also have Cooking/Baking Classes: $65-$165 per class. F O O D V E N D O R S ***Self-serve water at the bars*** * 1st floor: Smörgåsland (new to SF) - Scandinavian Bakery & Café created by the co-founder of world-renowned Noma and headed by a Michelin-star alum (Coi, Restaurant at Meadowood, and Saison) My Pick: Merguez & Sage Potato Flatbread w/ california lamb sausage, red peppers ($12) // 2 Stars: https://tinyurl.com/2rtcxrhx So promising yet so disappointing. The flatbread didn't look like the display/media pics. It was overbaked, heavy, and hella greasy. I ate 1/4th and packed the rest. The lamb + sage had a good gamey herbaceous flavor but the flatbread's execution missed the mark. Friendly but slow service; 20 minutes for the flatbread (no line). Total: $16.09 * 1st floor: Burgare Bar (new to SF) - Plant-Based Burgers - Didn't try * 1st floor: Snöberg (new to SF) - Soft Serve - Vegan flavors (oat milk based): Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry - Non-vegan flavor: Straus Vanilla - Free toppings: almonds, coconut flakes, sprinkles, etc. - Free samples My Pick: Straus Vanilla + Vegan Strawberry Swirl w/ almonds (one size-$5) // 4 stars: https://tinyurl.com/4cec7e7y The creaminess of straus vanilla soft serve offset the slight iciness of the strawberry one. Not too sweet. It's a huge serving, enough for two. Friendly and fast service (no line). Total: $6.92 * 2nd floor: Curry Up Now (SF based, one of OG food trucks) - Punjabi Street Food - Other locations: several brick & mortars + food trucks roaming around the Bay - Didn't try this time but I've tried their other locations. - Rec: Deconstructed Samosas (samosa chaat) * 2nd floor: MOMO Noodle (SF based) - Bàn Miàn, Taiwanese-Sichuan "dry" noodles - Other location: Food truck at Spark Social - Didn't try this time but I've been a big fan from when they first started in 2019. They're consistently solid! - Rec: Momo Spicy Noodle (ground pork) or Popo's Noodle (pork belly) * 2nd floor: Kayma (SF based) - Algerian food - Other locations: Food truck at Tunnel Tops and Valencia St. (temporary closed) - Didn't try this time but I've tried their Coca, an Algerian puff pastry. Delicious! I prefer the mushrooms over the beef. * 2nd floor: Casa Borinqueña (new to SF) - Vegan Puerto Rican food - Started as a pop-up in the East Bay. - Rec by Saluhall/business: Mofongo Cups My Pick: Mofongo Cups: Deep fried green plantain, mashed into a cup, filled w/ chopped vegan chicken or impossible beef, drizzled w/ mama sauce ($13) // 3 stars: https://tinyurl.com/yu6cvztf A good value, the mondongo cups were like thick, starchy tostones, generously filled with impossible beef. While it tasted like legit beef, it needed more spices (mama sauce low key reminded me 1000 island). A side of pique (hot sauce) would have been great for flavor and to cut through the heaviness. Friendly service, order ready in 8 minutes (no line). Total: $17.42 * 2nd floor: La Venganza (new to SF) - 100% Plant-Based Taqueria Fare - Other location: Brick & mortar in Oakland - Rec by Saluhall/business: Carnitas Taco My Picks: Al Pastor + Carnitas Taco: https://tinyurl.com/yfe2nryt Tacos are served on griddled, double La Finca tortillas (good chewy, pliable texture) w/ choice of vegan protein, diced onions, cilantro, and mild + tangy salsa verde. * Al Pastor Taco: Sweet Chile Marinated Mushroom "Al Pastor" ($5) // 3.5 Stars Better of the two - the pineapples gave a nice, sweet contrast to the earthy mushrooms. * Carnitas Taco: Smokey Sweet Marinated Mushroom "Pork Confit" ($5) // 3 Stars The "pork confit" had a stringy texture and a very strong earthy flavor. I missed the real deal. Friendly service, order ready in 3 minutes (no line). Total: $13.63 // Grand Total w/ tax, 5% SF mandate, 18%-22% tip: $54.06 B A R S Three bars: Lagom, Punsch, and Sauna. Craft cocktails: $12-$18. $5 HH Beer on Monday - Friday, 4 pm - 6 pm S T A F F Hats off to staff keeping the food hall immaculately clean. A M B I A N C E Huge, two-level modern space with a focus on minimalism and functionality with clean lines and tons of natural lighting. Free Wi-Fi and plenty of outlets. There's even photobooths. On a Tuesday, it was quiet with mainly "working" solo diners and techbros who lunch. Top 80s playlist w/ MJ, Whitey Houston, Lionel Richie, etc. Restroom requires a code from security. P A R K I N G Take public transit or Uber/Lyft. Nearest garage: 440 Stevenson. Overall, awesome space and vibe to remote work. If you're here to grub and not a vegan, I recommend sticking with MOMO Noodle or Kayma.

Yelp
I keep asking my friends to go to Ikea for dinner and they always say "IKEA?!?". After finally dragging friends here it was fun and delicious. Plenty of options and lots of plant based restaurants. This is an upscale food hall with many food stalls, seating, all within 2 levels adjacent to Ikea. Surprisingly, I did not see swedish meatballs amongst the food options.

Ed U.

Yelp
I'm so happy to see this expansive food hall open next to IKEA on the formerly embattled block between 5th and 6th Streets on Market. It gives me hope that the Mid-Market renaissance might have legs if that's what you want to call a full-blown Nordic invasion since IKEA's parent company Ingka Centres is responsible for the new two-floor, 23,000 square-foot space. Jamie W. and I visited the first week and were quite impressed. The seating was well spaced out on both floors. We didn't mind there was no escalator since we needed the steps. There are eleven separate food and drink options, and most of them are plant-based which make them a nice fit for the local food scene. So far, I've tried three options, and they've been a mixed bag. Right off, Jamie and I tried the vegan tacos from La Venganza. Made with marinated vegan soy fiber 'chicken', the $6 Pollo Taco was rather middling, but the $5 Al Pastor Taco was better served by the sweet chile-marinated mushrooms (photo: https://yelp.to/WrYDUuGo4E). I came back a couple of weeks later for lunch and tried the Burgare Bar downstairs. This was a disappointing misfire. I've had delicious Danish smorrebrod before, so the $13 Smorrebun didn't work, an open-faced Beyond Meat burger covered rather messily with vegan roe, 'cheeze', fennel slaw, and crispy onion. It was a fork and knife production that just didn't satisfy. Marginally better were the $12 Salunuggets which weren't really nuggets since they were oyster mushrooms that needed to be crispier (photo: https://yelp.to/xZ_kP9dmSn). I came back today and had a much more satisfying lunch, the $15.99 Spicy Chicken Noodle from Momo Noodle. It was a pretty hearty bowl with the chunks of tender garlic chicken amped up to medium spiciness and the egg noodles al dente and quite flavorful topped with green onion, wood-ear mushrooms, and arugula (photo: https://yelp.to/zU0C4_jTeV). That was definitely worth the inevitable return trip. FOOD - 4 stars...kinda all over the map with the spicy chicken noodle the best and that open-faced burger the worst AMBIANCE - 5 stars...those Scandinavians know how to design SERVICE - 4 stars...staff is consistently nice TOTAL - 4 stars...there's hope for Mid-Market RELATED - Exploring Western SoMa? Here's my collection of places I've patronized and reviewed: https://bit.ly/2H0vGTV

Yelp
Snōberg Pretty tasty for vegan option. Chocolate and vanilla comes out in mixed swirl, I opted for cup on a hot day Safe vegan included toppings of cacao nibs and almonds. Marshmallow is vg too Decent sized for SF price $5 and portions. Not enough to share for this guy Very slow day in mid afternoon on the 4th, just glad they were open.

Isaac A.

Yelp
Very nice ambiance and everyone working is so friendly! Lots of vegan food options which feels random but very appreciated. Different food choices so you can have whatever your heart and tummy desires. Ordered the mofungo from the Puerto Rican place, two of the vegan tacos from the (you guessed it) taco spot and the eggplant dish from the Algerian/Mediterranean spot. Mofungo and tacos were the highlights! All portions were good size, they just had the best flavor.

Yelp
Went to this new food hall for the first time and they've done a good job transforming the place! Mostly vegetarian options that are healthy and fresh. A bit on the pricey side for a food hall... But what's not pricey nowadays? It's a good option if you're catching a show downtown and don't wanna make a reservation somewhere. I would come back to try more stalls if I'm in the area.

Yelp
I'm really happy Saluhall is open. Mid-Market is in desperate need of a rival and I hope this food hall helps. Also, this fills the huge absence that La Cocina left when they closed their food hall way ahead of schedule. What I wish Saluhall had that La Cocina had was the option to order from different stalls online. But perhaps that doesn't fit with the way Saluhall contracts their space or perhaps there's other complications. It's a first-world problem for sure. As for the space - very minimalistic as you would expect from an IKEA brand. It's a bit industrial, a bit corporate, but very spacious and clean. What I'm not used to is having my dishes bussed in a place like this. I was expecting a place to throw trash and place dirty dishes, but there are employees that go around to do that. Much appreciated - it helps keep the place spotless. And frankly, people still don't know how to separate their trash so best to leave it with someone who does know. There are two floors and most of the restaurants are upstairs. It's all plant-based, though I think Curry Up Now may have real meat. Their menu says chicken and vegetarian as options. With the two-floor plan comes many, many places to sit. There's bar seating for those who are there to eat and go, and tables for larger groups. Some are set up near outlets and I have seen people take advantage of them for a working lunch with coworkers. Though it can get pretty noisy as more people come in, so it may not be the best place to host a lunch meeting. The music is pretty good, too. Last time I was there they had a pretty good 80s mix. The stairs to get to the second floor are windy and a bit narrow, especially if you're carrying food to either floor. I need to ask where the elevator is because it's not clearly marked for me. All in all, this is a great addition to Mid-Market. I hope it stays!

Yelp
Amazing new food court in downtown SF. A vegan/vegetarians paradise but there's several non veg options too. There's a bakery, burgers, tacos, noodles multiple bars and more. The ambiance and decor is really nicely done. A modern bright airy space with tons of seating that's perfect for groups of all sizes. Burgare bar - I liked the beyond/impossible burger and it was only $10 for the "cheeseburger". Service was very meh. One downside is everything was a bit on the buttery / oily side. Also they don't offer any combos. Snoberg - The vegan soft serve was among the best vegan ice cream I've tried and was only $4 with unlimited toppings! I really liked the vegan marshmallows which nail the texture of the real thing. Service was excellent. Can't wait to come back and try more spots!

Yelp
Saluhall is a brand-new, two-story food hall attached to IKEA in downtown San Francisco, and this is clear proof that this area of the city is still alive! The food offerings here were high-quality and gourmet, with a focus on plant-based options (though not exclusively). One alum from La Cocina (a local food business incubator) represented here was Kayma, an Algerian eatery, where I tried the Mezza Oasis salad, a plate of dressed greens, a purée of fire-roasted eggplant, a sweet-spicy relish of chopped eggplant/bell pepper/jalapeño, black olives, chickpeas, and whole wheat flatbread. We also added chicken, made from boneless chunks stewed in spices, and everything on the plate was flavorful and delicious. On the ground floor, Smörgasland was a Scandinavian bakery offering flatbreads, open-faced sandwiches, and pastries. The Potato Flatbreads were baked-to-order flatbreads with a choice of toppings, and I tried the Eggplant & Confit Shallot, which came with eggplant purée, shallots, black olives, dates, and melted harvati cheese, all finished with fresh herbs. This unique combination had a balance of sweet, salty, umami, and vegetal flavors, but the best part was simply the perfectly chewy, slightly sour flatbread dough! We also got the Crab Louie Open Faced Rye Sandwich, a slice of seeded rye bread topped with Dungeness crab, cabbage, asparagus, a half soft-boiled egg, and thousand island dressing. The sandwich was decent (and a creative fusion of Californian and Scandinavian ingredients) but had way less crab than I expected for the price. A final highlight of Saluhall was Snöberg, which offered vegan oat milk soft serve ice cream. They offered just one size in a cup or cone, which came with unlimited free toppings. After trying some generous samples, I got a cup of Vanilla, which was perfectly creamy and sweet with a distinct oat milk flavor. We topped it off with chocolate cookie crumbles, granulated hazelnuts, and slivered almonds, along with a sugar cone on top. The dessert was surprisingly cheap for the portion size, and made for a nice cap to a fun food adventure in Saluhall!

Yelp
Cute food hall conveniently located right next to IKEA! They also serve IKEA food on the second floor. There are a ton of different food options here, ranging from burgers to pastries to noodles to curry to tacos and soft serve and even two bars. There are a ton of vegan and vegetarian food options as well. The food ranges in price but generally is on the pricier side, but the ambiance and environment inside is quite nice. It's super roomy, has lots of seating, two floors of food options, and is well decorated and pretty clean! I tried the farm egg danish from the bakery downstairs and it was very yummy. It's a huge portion for $8, and they can warm up the pastry for you! Bonus points for a perfectly runny egg. It's a super cheesy and flaky pastry. Very savory and satisfying. Def recommend! Service here was super nice as well but it did take quite a long time, but this food hall is pretty new so I'm sure it'll get faster with time.

Yelp
I went here on opening day. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The place is clean and has lots of seating. There are two floors, with stairs, an elevator, and an escalator connecting them. It's also connected to Ikea. They had good music playing and it wasn't too loud. When I was done eating, someone cleared my tray for me. On the opening weekend, they have free photo booths and free cooking classes. I had dinner at Curry Up Now, and it was excellent. Dessert at Snoberg was also great. I'll review each individually. I'll certainly be back!

Yelp
Great variety of food. Was in the mood for noodles. The plant based burger would be 2nd choice. It's like going to different countries to sample food. Momo noodles seem to have one non spicy dish with marinated soy sauce tofu, lots of green onions, and fungus (reminds me of ctripy rubber bands) and lots of thin noodles. nutritionally good for you. It was in a paper to go bowl. Peanut sauce but was not too peanuty. It definitely hit the hunger spot. Sat near the window over looking Market Street. The dining area was pretty. Got me a ice cream from ikea. Enjoyable lunch. Momo noodles, you self order on their monitor, pay with credit card, and spits out a receipt with number. They will call your number when ready. Pretty fast since there's only 3 ahead of me.

Yelp
Generally speaking, Saluhall is a cool concept and space. I'd want to just get food from the IKEA kiosk next time. During my first visit, I tried one of the food vendors and it was fine but pricey. If you don't work in tech, this cafeteria is what the really nice Silicon Valley tech cafes feel like... but for the general public. It may be both a blessing and a curse. There is drip coffee on the main ground floor, but I hope that they expand and develop their espresso and coffee selection! There are a few different bars, and the overall space itself feels very contemporary and homey. There are public restrooms and free tap water is available.

Yelp
We happened to be in the city and decided to check out this food court. It's located on Market St, right next to Ikea SF. Love the decors and the space here. The vendors serve up pastries, curries, noodles, burgers, soft serve, and the list goes on. It's cool to see that most of the vendors have plant based options. Real meat is available for some of them too. We really enjoyed the farm egg danish from Smörgasland, and we thought the noodles from Momo Noodle were pretty solid too. The deconstructed samosa from Curry Up Now was a good dish to share. I wouldn't say that it's a cheap alternative to eat here but it's definitely a good casual spot to hang out.

Yelp
Saluhall is a really fun food hall from IKEA in Sf. It's in the tenderloin so parking in the parking garage ($20) or ubering is easiest. There's a lot of wonderful options. I ended up getting the spicy chicken noodle at Momo Noodle. The price was steep, but the noodles were so good and so spicy! The ice cream was fun to look at but honestly it did not taste good. I asked for a waffle cone and was given a sugar cone. I also was told chocolate was out. The employee seemed stressed out, and there were two managers who worked there staring at her intensely with their arms crossed while talking about her and making her and everyone so uncomfortable. I felt really bad for her and I think their weird micromanaging, uncomfortable presence is why she kept making mistakes. There's a lot of employees walking around and cleaning things up regularly so tables clear up fast. There is fun and quirky decor all over that gives the place the quintessential IKEA vibe.

Yelp
Kayma chicken couscous bowls are so good! I love how light but filling it is. Feels so fresh and tasty, would come back and order from here again. We also got noodles from momo noodle and it was ok. Got their spicy pork noodle bowl and had to add pork for $4, it was just ok. Probably would try something else next time. Downstairs we tried the soft serve - nice light tropical flavors, most of the toppings were free too. Overall, this place is a great and much needed addition to market st. Glad to have more options downtown.

Yelp
LOVE that Ikea is bringing back some energy to Market Street! Saluhall is a beautiful 2 story food hall connected to the actual Ikea as well, and filled with cool vegan options and a good mix of restaurants with food, bakery/dessert, and bars. While some of the options were definitely new and unique, I did see some familiar spots like Curry Up Now and Momo Noodles. Most of the entrees are around $16-20, which I felt was a teeny bit pricey for the portion size. However, the space and ambiance is what makes it worth! It's super clean, well designed, and very aesthetic. There's a lot of seating, and employees are constantly clearing out tables. I'm excited to see how the cooking class area shapes up in the back as well. I'll be back!

Yelp
Saluhall is a fun and centrally located place to gather at all times of the day - from cafe and bakery in the morning to bar in the evening. Food options are multi cultural and plant forward, with meat options to accommodate all diets. It's connected to ikea and their restaurant for a cheaper option. There's even a cooking school in the back. I like coming here to beat the heat or rain. I could come here by myself, with friends, a date, or family. Hope more places in the city will adopt a space like this.

Yelp
It's amazing to see new businesses open to help lift the economy in SF. The food hall is spacious, chic decor and plenty of seating on both levels. It's a food hall with vendors on each floor. They offer noodles to burgers to beer and even soft serve. Unfortunately, the quality of food and vendors here fell short for me personally. There was nothing that stood out and some repeated vendors I've seen at Spark Social and OTG. It's conveniently connected to Ikea, if you want a bite to eat after shopping just walk right across. Plenty of options, family friendly and very clean.

Yelp
Are you tired of the same old Swedish meatballs and treats that were your only choice after and before the shopping experience in IKEA? Come to Saluhall! This brand new food court next door has many food vendors and bars to choose from. OR, you can go directly to Saluhall to enjoy their plant based burgers, signature cocktails, and soft serves. Food vendors like Curry Up Now and KAYMA are on the second floor. These small business entrepreneurs have never disappointed us since La Cocina. I will definitely come back to Saluhall to try Puerto Rican or Algerian food. Curry Up Now is one of my best choices. Their hot chai is arguably down-to-earth with its extremely bold and spicy splendor hands down. Vegan lovers ought to rejoice now that Saluhall has mostly plant based options.

Yelp
Great ice cream. Nice location inside IKEA food hall. Right in front by the entrance so you can't miss it.

Yelp
Saluhall is a food court connected to IKEA in downtown SF. Met a couple of friends there for lunch because of its convenience to public transportation for all of us and we plan to meet there again! There were *so* many different offerings, mostly vegetarian/vegan places, but definitely places that serve dishes with meat, too, for those of us who crave it. I ended up with a BLT chicken wrap from the IKEA kiosk and it was pretty good for the price. The only thing that would've made it tastier would be an inclusion of some kind of sauce because, without it, it was a bit on the dry side. My friend ordered the same thing, but she received a packet of ranch dressing with hers. She shared her dressing and it did improve the wrap. This place is great for anyone who wants to gather a group for lunch and is on a limited budget; lots and lots of options as far as food goes and the dining area is huge and clean. We'll be meeting there again!
