As we were parking, I felt time slowing down as I took in all the signage. Throwing my Sportage into park, I felt like Clark Griswold arriving at Wally World. We're here for craft beers, right? We're going to have a lot of fun, right?!
Screaming children ran by as we made our way past a giant dog fashioned out of wire & plastic turf. As I approached the hostess, who was appropriately bedazzled with piercings & tattoos, I flashed on the food court at Disneyland or the county fair. Long wooden tables & a small bandstand make up the non-bar area, largely serving families.
We ordered a couple of drafts off the seasonal menu - you'll be hard pressed to find many options that aren't IPAs. The food was essentially bar food - sandwiches & fries of all kinds, nachos, etc. Not bad, not the highlight of a trip to Petaluma.
If I were rolling with a large group that included children, I would come here. That said, if you're looking for a Sonoma County experience, Heineken's full buyout of Lagunitas has certainly influenced the heavy marketing & overall corporate-sponsored energy of the place. Our server was extremely kind, but this was not my scene.
I would not a protest a return visit, but it's not at the top of my list. Que sera!
