The Best Filipino Restaurants In NYC

"Lahi is best known for its sisig tacos, which first became popular at the Queens Night Market. Each order includes a few bite-sized taco bowls filled with crunchy, sour pork sisig and mayo drizzled on top. Come to this super casual Elmhurst spot with a few friends, grab seats outside if you want more of a vibe, and be sure to get the turon (deep-fried banana rolls) for dessert." - neha talreja, nikko duren

Lahi - Review - Elmhurst - New York - The Infatuation

"Lahi is best known for its sisig tacos, which became popular when this Filipino spot was vending at Queens Night Market. Each order includes a few bite-sized taco bowls filled with crunchy, sour pork sisig and mayo drizzled on top. If you’re going to try something else at this Elmhurst spot, make it the arroz caldo, a chicken and rice porridge that smells like it gets a healthy dose of calamansi just before hitting your table. Come with a few friends, grab seats outside, and be sure to get the turon (deep-fried banana rolls) for dessert." - Nikko Duren

The food was definitely delicious and lived upto its expectation. We went on a weekday for lunch and there was no crowd. The service was good and the food was of small portions but it is good for us as we don’t eat a lot. For others, the portion might be an issue. Will definitely be back to try other items.

We sat in and ordered three dishes. Everything was delicious and came out in a timely manner. Then we ordered Halo halo after and that was so good. Brought me back to my childhood in the Philippines. Overall, a pleasant experience. Every dish was about $15-$18 and comes with white rice. You can add one dollar to get garlic rice. We brought our little one and they had a high chair and were super accommodating. We ordered crispy diniguan (pictured), pancit (pictured) and chicken sisig (not pictured).

Craving Filipino food? Look no further than Lahi, conveniently located near Grand Avenue Station. This place hits the spot with authentic dishes like bangus sisig, crispy pata, chicharon bulaklak, and chopseuy. While you might wait 10-15 minutes for your food, it's worth it! All your dishes arrive together, piping hot and ready to enjoy. Definitely worth checking out for a delicious Filipino feast!

Best Filipino restaurant ever! I go food shopping in Elmhurst very often and saw this place is on the way. I decided to try and this place is one of my favorite restaurant since. Food is great and server are friendly, happy and polite. The restaurant actually expands to another room and has bigger space and table. When the restaurant is busy, you will hardly see the server because they are running around doing stuff. I love Dasilog (brunch menu), Deep fried milk fish with garlic rice and fried egg. Tosilog (brunch menu), Sweet red pork with garlic rice and fried egg. Bistek Pinoy, beef sauteed with onion Sisig Bangus, chopped crispy milkfish with onion and seasoned. my favorite desserts are Halo and Leche Flan.

This is the real taste of the homeland! The pork sisig will make your mouth water and is perfect for introducing people to filipino cuisine. I also got the bangus because that gives me happy memories of when my mom used to cook it for me. This is one time when I wish the portions weren't so generous so I could have had more room for halo-halo!

Google
We ordered the pork lumpia, pork sisig with garlic rice, and noodles. The lumpia was outstanding. The sisig was good but not the best I've ever had. The noodles weren't that great (too much vinegar). I would come again if in the area but I wouldn't go out of the way to eat here.

Google
Came here for dinner tonight I would say probably first time in over two years for sure , hasn’t changed their food is still outstanding to me had their sisig tacos with the pork and lemon mayo, beef nilaga (beef broth with veggies) beef was very tender make sure you ask for patis (fish sauce) and put some not too much over the broth so good! And the beans with squash in coconut milk oh so good too, and lastly beef kaldereta (Filipino beef stew) , we were the last customers of the evening but everything was still so good enjoyed my time their even though it’s been over two years definitely one of the best Filipino restaurants in Queens and in the city!

Yelp
I'm not an expert on Filipino food but I certainly like this place. When we walked in they seated us right away and gave us menus. Inside was small and simple with some artwork decorating the walls. My sister who has been here before ordered for us. We got lumpia, sisig, a shrimp squash dish, fish and garlic rice. Everything was tasty and seasoned perfectly. I recommend this place for good food in general.

Yelp
Comfort food that makes you feel like home :) It was American Filipino day and I happen to be in New York during this time. I came with the Fam, was always curious if there a difference between NY and Cali or was it all the same. The restaurant didn't look to big from the outside but once you get in you'll realize its pretty big. Greeted with smiles all around, very welcoming. We had a table right away, our server was helpful when we had questions. Once the order was placed, it didn't take long at all. The food was delicious and had there own flavor to each dishes. The difference in my opinion is the sauce, the sytle was there own which makes it great. I'll be back ;)

Yelp
We've always driven past Lahi but never took the time to check it out, and I'm so glad we finally did! As a party of 4, we were seated rather quickly on a Friday evening (around 7:15pm), but the restaurant did fill up a bit shortly after. The space is a bit on the smaller side, but gives a home-y vibe. Between the 4 of us, we initially decided on the pork lumpia, chicken adobo, sisig bangus, lechon kawali, and palabok. Unfortunately, they were out of the palabok and chicken adobo, so we subbed with the adobo pork and held off on another noodle. Garlic rice is a must, and it comes with each of the entrees for an additional $1. I was honestly really pleasantly surprised by each dish. The lumpia was super crispy & tasty, and I could snack on these all day long! 12 sounds like a lot until you start eating - I could finish a plate of these myself (I think). The sisig bangus came out sizzling, and it was so fragrant! Adding the lemon in gave it that extra acidity that tied the whole dish together so well. This was really delicious, and definitely a highlight for me. Lechon kawali and adobo pork were both good, but nothing to write home about. The adobo was a little saltier than I expected, and I almost wish it had just a little more vinegar. We decided to add on two more dishes after a while, because the 4 alone didn't seem to be quite enough. After looking through some yelp reviews, we decided on the bihon and the sisig pork. The bihon was quite large portion wise, and really tasty in my opinion. It looks like such a simple dish, but the flavors are well balanced. Sisig pork was one of my faves - I enjoyed this a bit more than the sisig bangus, because I loooove the extra flavor from the fat. The staff is really kind, and they were quite apologetic when they notified us that they were out of some items. Service was paced well - we never had to wait too long for any of our dishes. Prices are reasonable - total came out to $123 after tax and tip. Overall, worth a visit, and I'd come back! Highly recommend getting a sisig and lumpia!

Yelp
Came here twice! Local Filipino restaurant in Elmhurst. They have a decent selection of food & a good amount of seating as well. - The first time I went, I got the Lechon Kawali and Pork Sisig Tacos. Yhe lechon was super fatty and flavorful and went well with the rice and sauce (4.5/5). The sisig tacos were good, I felt like there was too much flavors going on though but still super tasty (4/5). - The second time I went I got the Pork Sisig Hot Plate and Chicken Adobo. The pork was good but some parts were very tender which, over time, my jaws started to hurt from chewing (3.5/5). The chicken adobo took a while to come out as well. The flavor was good but I found the chicken to be a bit dry (3/5). Overall, this place is pretty good and the prices are not bad. I would come back to try the halo halo because they ran out of the ube ice cream when I went. The food is a bit greasy but tasty!

Yelp
This restaurant is definitely one I would go back to for a good Filipino family meal. Everything tastes so home cooked and delicious. Seeing local Filipino customers dining in as well, assured me that this is the place to be for an authentic Filipino meal. The food was flavorful. The garlic rice is the must get and I highly recommend. No matter what dish you try, you must get an order of garlic rice. It is so worth the extra $1 for it. The rice porridge with tripe was delicious. The tripe was tender and easy to eat. The pork sinigang was tangy and savory. There were lots of vegetables. I will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Customer service was good. Clean resto and bathroom was okay. Food tasted so good specially the bistik, it was so tender and flavorful as well as the pancit. Although the Leche flan wasnt that smooth and silky. But over all i got satisfied and full.

Yelp
Small little place that serves authentic filipino food. My friend and I were craving filipino food so we made the drive to queens and we weren't disappointed! Everything came out sizzling hot and full of flavor. We ordered: - BBQ Pork or Chicken - Garlic Rice - Chicken Sisig Plate Definitely recommend coming here if you've never tried filipino food or you're just in the sudden mood for it!

Yelp
We were craving for Filipino food while we're in queens so we decided to try this place. Reasonable pricing, friendly staff, and food was very flavorful. Would come back again!

Yelp
We wanted to try a Filipino spot in Queens and found this on Yelp. Close proximity to Elmhurst train station and easy to spot on Queens Boulevard. This review is for take out only. Their phone number wasn't working so I ordered through the website (had to set up an account). Easy process and the food was ready by the estimated time. Got a few staple items per other review recommendations. Sisig chicken - this was my favorite dish. I love the combination of flavors and cut up chicken with onions. So fragrant. Adobo Chicken - classic, must-order. It was yummy and I loved drizzling the sauce on the rice. Kare-Kare - I loved the tender, big oxtail and appreciated the amount of meat in this meal. I didn't enjoy the peanut sauce and could do without it. But the meat was cooked really well. Tokwa - fried tofu in a soy sauce and vinegar dressing. It's a pungent bite at first and can be a tad salty. Three entrees and one appetizer was a total of $53. A bit pricey for the portion size and order amount. Similar to Thai food pricing and portions. The location is good and the flavors of the food were satisfying.

Yelp
WOW. Came here with two friends, one of whom is filipino so she was able to recommend the best dishes and dessert. The Milk Bihon (a bit on the salty side as there was a lot of sauce added) and Inihaw were average. Kalderetang Baka and Bistek Pinoy blew me away, both seemed to have spanish inspired flavors and were very flavorful. And for the dessert, what my cultured friend had described as merely "fried bananas" turned to be one of the best desserts I've ever had. Total came out to be just under $100 excluding tax. Worth it for the amount of food we ordered. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Before COVID-19: This might be one of my hidden gems in Elmhurst for Filipino cuisine. It's out of the way from Little Manila's restaurant scene. The trek there from anywhere outside of the area can be annoying with only local trains around the area, but the deliciousness that is the lechon kawali was a win. The presentation of the food was nice. We also got a sizzling pork sisig plate. The spot was clean and the staff were super energetic and accommodating with singing in between services. It feels like you're visiting a family or a friend's house. The portion was big and we were full with only two dishes. The place is a homey mom-and-pop feel. When in Queens, come to Lahi for authentic Filipino food! Price is decent and reasonable for the location. Bathroom available. Accepts cash and card. Take out available. We did dine before covid hit. Mangaon ta!

Yelp
After many delicious meals and a number of outings, I feel safe in declaring Lahi as one of the better Filipino establishments in the borough. While an overwhelming majority of them are located in Woodside (#1), they have chosen Elmhurst as their homebase, along Queens Blvd with a slew of other Southeast Asian businesses. As with many eateries in the area, it's small. We're talking only a few tables small. I've managed to eat here solo many times, but group dining always had to be arranged ahead of time. Pre-pandemic, they might be able to sit 15 to 20 folks, even if the latter sounds impossibly cramped given the tiny dining area. Naturally, the food shines and in a big way. I wouldn't consider it super cheap per se or big on portions, but the presentation is on point. Things I would recommend ordering for all curious palates: * Pork BBQ Skewers: Succulent, juicy, and even a little sweet. * Any of the "log" breakfast sets: tocilog, tapsilog, dasilog etc. * Lechon Kawali: They might serve the best one I've had so far. Don't forget the liver sauce. * Sisig Baboy + Sisig Bangus: At the same damn time. * Gingataang Langka: Jackfruit + shrimp in coconut milk broth? This is a must have. * Garlic Rice: This should be the default rice out of all of them. * Halo Halo: I'm not the biggest fan of HH, but I did appreciate their massive version. Not overly sweet, but particularly clutch during summer time. And then there are a number of other solid items ranging from pancit bihon to crispy pata. I haven't had as good of luck with their kare kare, dinuguan, or their semi-laughable sisi tacos. I am sure I caught them on a bad day, will certainly give it another shot during a future visit. Lastly, the service is good. They've been polite and sweet on the phone for takeout orders and have indulged me whenever I've come with a large group. To cap off any good meal here, I'd always recommend finishing it off with a lovely avocado shake. __________ (#1) Little Manila. It's really a thing.

Yelp
I usually dine in and it's pretty good Filipino food, however today I ordered the pinakbet for delivery. The order was $13.99 and so small it was barely a serving. it came in a small container and not even half full! I will never order take out from here again
google avatar

Terri C.

Yelp
We had the sisig, pinakbet, kare kare, and some appetizers. Great location, very convenient to get to, and the indoor part of the restaurant itself is spaced adequately. There are outdoor dining options if you would like. The service is great. During the evenings, most tables are generally filled up. Restrooms and overall interiors are generally clean and tidy. I also noticed some reviewers mentioning 'authentic'. As an avid filipino-restaurant go-er, it all depends on the region where people are from/used to. I think the food on Lahi's menu is generally what we expect in terms of offerings, but given that we have had experienced this cuisine genre in various forms (fusion, fast food, regional, and even by price levels), they offer a consistent variety. In addition, their flavors were really great. Most tables ordered that similar appetizer: sisig tacos. That seemed to be mostly photographed too! It is a wonderfully presented and will not disappoint in the delicious category!

Yelp
We had sisig Baboy and stuffed and grilled bangus. Perhaps we were starving but everything was really very good. Only halfway in, we thought the bangus was a bit bitter from such immense grilled, pretty much charred flavor that permeated even the sofrito inside. But fear not, filipino soy sauce cut with vinegar and prolly a toss of sugar really elevates everything. Sisig was on point as was the garlic rice, I assume since I'm not allowed any. From my recollection, this spot has The Best garlic rice. This one or Renee's. Mango drink for the win- I did hav 2 sips and it was sweet, cold w a splash of milk cream.

Yelp
I've never had Philippine food before so I wasn't sure what to expect. I came here with a couple of friends and two of them were philippino so I just followed there recommendations. I ordered the lechon kawali which was like a fried pork belly dish with rice. The pork was super crispy, but wasn't really seasoned. I think that is because you are supposed to eat it with the sauce which was pretty sweet which isnt my cup of tea. My philippino friends also felt like the food here wasn't the greatest and that their mom can make the dishes better and cheaper. In terms of price it was around 15 dollars for each dish which is decently expensive in that area. I also ordered the halo halo cause my friends talked about it a lot. They really enjoyed it, but again I wasn't a fan. I may just not be big on philippino food, but based on what others thought about it I felt the food was OK overall. Lahi for dinner time on a weekend was pretty much empty so you should have trouble finding a seat. I think most of their business is through takeout, at least during the weekdays.

Yelp
Lahi is a small Filipino restaurant in Elmhurst. The food was good but it's not as good as my favorite Filipino restaurant. The way the food was presented was very nice. My friend and I had the kare kare, sizzling chicken sisig, beef stew and halo halo. Each entree comes with rice. The kare kare is mild and goes great with rice. The oxtail in it was very good. The chicken sisig was good with a kick of lime juice, but I prefer the pork version better. I enjoyed the beef stew the most. It tastes a bit like the American beef stew with carrots and potatoes. It was really flavorful. The halo halo is huge! I suggest sharing it. It has all sort of things in it, some ube ice cream, a piece of flan, jelly, and red beans. It was good at first but it was too much as time went on and too liquidy.

Yelp
Delicious Filipino food! The place is small but clean. It can be somewhat crowded. Staff were polite. We'll definitely go back. Street parking is easy to find.

Yelp
Short story: Food is good, service not so. Between the pork sisig tacos for an appetizer, the garlic fried rice and the beef rib soups, the food certainly hits the spot. My work associate and I reveled in the comforting embrace of each dish. Sadly my lunch experience mirrors a recent 3 star review with the same points of: - didn't approach us after our food was dropped off on our table no one asked how we were doing (a lady was standing in the corner watching and did not approach us). - We had wanted to order dessert but instead left due to poor service. (see above). - did not approach once for the receipt (we're trying to tell you to take our money). Our experience felt like our presence was a imposition on them, to quote a prior review. I hope it is a temporary problem, but based on this experience, I will likely take my dining dollars to other establishments.

Yelp
Loved it here. It was my first time trying Filipino food. Usually Filipino cuisine is so heavy with pork that I haven't been able to try any. This place had a variety!! The sizzling chicken was decent. It was a tad too crispy. The lime juice on top was a great way to add more flavor to the dish. I got the beef stew, which was packed with flavor. The portions of the food was massive. Our server was so sweet in telling us not to get the tacos because it was prepared the same way as the sizzling meat. We then got the halo halo icecream which we never had before. Let me break this down. It's icecream on top of shaved ice and all the way on the bottom is all kinds of jellies. Me and my friend was eating it like ordinary icecream. Top to bottom. Our server walked over again and broke down how to properly eat it. So you're given a long spoon. The point is to dig all the way down to gather all the jellies along with the icecream on top. That way you get to try all the flavors at once. When the ice starts to melt, it becomes this sweet creamy liquid which you can just inhale honestly. But we had a lot of food and were done. Loved the flavors and I'd be back to try more dishes.

Yelp
This is a slightly newer and medium sized Filipino restaurant. The place is not fancy but it is clean and modern. We ordered several dishes to share: chicken adobo, lumpia shanghai, beef kaldereta, and chami noodles. Everything was very authentic. I felt that the lumpia was the best quality out of everything. They were super crispy and came to the table freshly fried. The other dishes were great as well. However, what prevents me from giving this place 5 stars is that I have been to other Filipino restaurants with bigger portions and slightly more flavorful dishes. The portions here are average size and the food was a tiny bit more bland than other restaurants. For example, their chicken adobo was light on the soy sauce and vinegar. Still an excellent choice for those who are the mood for some Filipino cuisine.

Morlene C.

Yelp
Oh Queens, you've done it again. I find myself venturing into the borough whenever I'm looking to grub on really authentic food with a large group at a low price point. Lahi fits the bill perfectly. We had several Filipinas in the group who attested to the authenticity of the dishes. It tasted like home. As a Southeast Asian myself, I felt this way too. As you'd be able to tell from the photos I've posted, our groups' eyes are bigger than our stomachs, so we ordered a lot. Here are some of the highlights: Camaron Rebosado: Large pieces of shrimp battered and served with a side of hot sauce. Hard to go wrong with deep fried food. Delicious Escabeche Tilapia: Crispy tilapia served in a sweet onion red sauce. The fish was very fresh and crispy. Sauce tasted great with garlic rice. Ginatang Sitaw: shrimp, string beans and squash in coconut milk. I've had this dish elsewhere, but it's never tasted as good as the one made here. Pancit: stir fried egg noodles and vermicelli on a sizzling plate. This dish could've used an extra kick, so we added hot sauce and that did the trick. We washed down our food with avocado shakes and finished with some turon and leche flan. I think their savory dishes are stronger than their desserts, but I try to leave room for dessert whenever possible and leaving the restaurant with the taste of delicious flan in your mouth is not a bad way to live. One thing I'd be mindful of is to confirm how many dishes you've ordered in total, particularly if you're with a larger group. We ended up with additional orders of items like avocado shakes and garlic rice that we did not ask for, and ended up with too much food left over.

Yelp
Was craving Filipino food and found this spot out of the blue. Their lumpia was pretty good decent, but their most impressive dish was the lechon kawali. It was fried to perfection and very crunchy. Their garlic rice was very good too. We also got their kare kare. It was very flavorful and tasty, but isn't worth the price it's listed at. Definitely would recommend getting their sunny side egg for any rice dishes. I saw some customers eating their halo halo and it looked really satisfying, but didn't get a chance to have it because we had so much to eat. Will definitely come back for it one day!

Yelp
I had food here when this place opened and it was okay so i decided to try it again today via food delivery app and it was utterly disappointing. I love to support filipino restaurants i love filipino food but the food that i ordered was inedible. this is what i ordered: Grilled Pork belly - burnt and inedible it's like straight charcoal i don't get how this gets sent out like who does quality control? I work in the food industry and restaurants aren't supposed to be sending out inedible food. Mike Bihon - Also inedible because it was swimming in soy sauce looked like they accidentally pour soy sauce in it. Crispy Dinuguan - nothing on this dish taste anything or closely resembles dinuguan and it's not even crispy. You can only taste the Lechon Kawali that came in large chunks that is not crispy at all. Dinuguan supposed to have vinegar on it but the sauce of this dish is BLAND as in you cannot taste anything, the only thing that you'll taste is the pork. I'd rather order lechon kawali atleast that is crispy. It was a disastrous experience for me.

Yelp
This place is cozy. I walked in and noticed a New York Times article hanging on their wall. This was the second time dining here. Both times I went there was a lot of people eating here. The second time I went was with a Filipino. He suggested food for us to eat. We ate a few dishes which he said is somewhat authentic and his mom makes these dishes. I wouldn't know what is considered authentic. I did see quite a few people eating halo halo as a meal. It looks quite filling and I would never know that a dessert can be a meal in itself. We ordered garlic rice for our meal, the lumpia pork, the bbq chicken on skewers, the lechon kawaii, and last but not least the turon. Who doesn't like fried stuff?? I definitely like it so I chowed down on it. I may return to try the other items on the menu.

Yelp
This is one of the best Filipino restaurants I ever got to try in Queens! I love that their menu is authentic Filipino--something most people grew up with and definitely has that warmth of homecooked food. But they also have impressive twists that elevate classic Filipino dishes like the sisig tacos (which is a must-order!!!) and their take on Bicol Express with pork belly. My mouth is still watering just thinking of those two dishes alone!
google avatar

Yelp
Lahi is the new kid on the block. Its on Queens Blvd so there are quite a few blocks. If you find out how many, I would really like to know. Message or compliment your king! Lahi is a small corner spot that is often packed (-good sign). It also helps that there are not a lot of tables. I was surprised by how quickly we sat as there were quite a few large Filipino families before us. Bangas Sisig. What did you call me?! Sizzling Milkfish Platter! You're lucky I like fried fish topped with tons of chopped onions, long peppers, and seasoning. The Lechon Kawali is always a crowd favorite. Crispy pork belly for the uninitiated. Both dishes go very well with the garlic rice, I would recommend asking for the sweet and sour sauce that usually comes with their calamari dish for the lechon dish. The vinegar helps cut through the oil and fat. The lemon on the bangus also helps when added to the heavy homecooking. We added two fried eggs to the sisig so I spread lemon around them and the rest onto my rice and lechon. Happy Eating!

Yelp
100% recommend. This is exactly why I love Northern Queens: truly authentic, inexpensive food, nice people. Loved everything we ordered (including: sizzling pork belly, BBQ prk, calamari rings, tacos.) Recommended by a Filipino friend, and the entire restaurant filled with Filipinos (the best recommendation you can get), my entire party will be back often. Soooooo very delicious.

Yelp
Bland This place made me think I was eating at a Filipino Hospital. Everything was so bland. I ordered the chicken adobo, maybe it's just me because I like it with a nice strong vinegar taste and this was just bland. The lumpia was served with a dipping sauce that was watery. The Poncit had no strong flavor at all. If you're not familiar with Filipino food and just want to try some then this is the place for you but if you have experience a flavorful Filipino food then this is not.

Yelp
Food is well prepared. Their sisig are both good - either pork or the fish. They make excellent crispy pata. The crispy pork in dinuguan sauce (black like squid ink) is also very good. This is true Philippine home cooking! Not greasy

Yelp
Filipino food is my comfort food and this place does not dissapoint! The food is on point but the only thing is that the place is tiny and service needs to improve. I went there with my bf and luckily we got seated right away. Theirs 2 servers which I think is enough since its a tiny place. We ordered letchon kawali or deep fried pork. Pritong bangus or fried milk fish. Sinigang na baboy or pork sour soup. All of this dish is delicious! The fried milk fish is my favorite above all of this 3 dishes we ordered. Its boneless and crispy on the outside and taste so good with soysauce, chili and vinegar. I'm glad to have another Filipino food around my neighborhood and hopefully their service will be better. They're not rude or anything, its just that they don't really pay attention like when we just got there and we sat then we didn't get the menu so we just got it ourselves. I know theirs a lot more to improve and I'm gonna come back for sure to eat some yummy Filipino food and hoping that time to see more progress.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of Filipino food and I've visited many restaurants in the Woodside neighborhood so when Lahi sign "Coming Soon" appeared I immediately set a date. We visited on a Saturday for lunch to catch their lunch special. I ready wanted to like this place but was disappointed as soon as we walked in. We were there at 2pm and the place was 3/4 empty but the management put us into a side table with a tiny table. Why? Maybe she is expecting a huge crowd at 2PM? We order two lunch specials: Sisilog- the sizzling pork was not sizzling and was very dry. Rated 2/5 Tapsilog- again the meat is so dry it was hard to chew. Rated 2/5 We also ordered addition dishes from the menu: Daing- the fish was good but I did not realized this missed given us three sides with this fish dish. I found out only after reviewing other photos posted by other reviewers. How did the kitchen, waiter, and manager missed this? Rated 2/5 Lumpia- was the only enjoyable dish we had. It was fresh and hot. Rated 4/5 We were ready disappointed by the quality of the dishes; especially when the owner/manager lady was right there over seeing the operations. I may return and try the other dishes; hopeful better experience.

Yelp
Lahi is a new Filipino restaurant and probably the only Filipino restaurant located in Elmhurst! I'm pretty happy this joint opened because with so many Filipinos living in Elmhurst, I was surprised there hasn't been a Filipino restaurant. My boyfriend and I decided to come here for "brunch" on a Sunday because we were craving Filipino food and pretty much ate everywhere else in Elmhurst. Once we got there, we were surprised by how clean the entire place was. The restaurant itself is small but enough room to walk around and get to your table. We were greeted right away and seated right away and given our menu right away. My boyfriend got the sizsling and I got the dasilong? I think that's how you spell it. Anyways, my boyfriend's dish came out first and then about 3 minutes later my dish came out. It was so delicious looking and definitely FRESH AF! The food was piping hot and I quickly devoured it because I hate cold food. I really enjoyed the garlic rice compared to other Filipino restaurants I've been too. The price and the amount of food that was given is simply worth it. The atmosphere is also very welcoming and friendly and it really feels like I'm going to my mom's house for food. I definitely recommend coming here!

Yelp
Oh my gosh. This restaurant was delicious. My friend and I were hesitant on going in at first because it was practically empty. Boy were we wrong. After being seated more and more people started coming in and there was even a wait time shortly after! Parking can be a bit difficult in the area but that's a given for queens Blvd. My friend and I ordered way too much. We ordered off the brunch menu (served until 2pm). I believe it was the dasilog (fried fish) and pork sisig. Wasn't a fan of the fried fish. It was missing sauce or flavor but the sisig was suuuuper flavorful. Sizzling and delicious! We also ordered this noodle dish and topped it off with lumpia. Way too much for 2 people but I'll definitely be returning for more.

Yelp
Take-out Review: I was super excited to hear that an authentic Filipino restaurant had opened up somewhat close to QCM. I went over to grab Sisilog, after having had the most amazing Sisig in Nevada. It was fairly dry and tough, but that signature lime flavour definitely powered through. I also had Sinigang Bangus(milkfish stew) to make myself feel healthier but there was a good 3/4" of oil floating on the top of the quart container that really wasn't appetizing. There isn't anything worse than drinking a sip of soup and feeling oil coat your lips as well as your tongue. The fish meat itself, though, was cooked perfectly. Lastly, I had to grab the classic Chicken Adobo because that's the staple and I am sad to say that it was still a lot drier than I would have hoped. The garlic rice was beyond dry and contained pieces of uncooked rice throughout the container. It didn't taste of garlic at all, but I would say that this is true for most of the Filipino places I've been to. Avocado shake was nice and standard. And the staff are really nice. Basically for food, the fish(boiled, not grilled) was good, but I would find it hard to scarf down the other dishes that I had eaten again. Huge letdown. I am still open to going again to try the lumpia.

Yelp
This place was so cute! I have been dying to try a Filipino restaurant and I am so glad I came here. I had the lumpia pork and then the inihaw na manok. The sauce compliments the lumpia so much that I told my friend to try it and after she put it on her noodles, haha. I wish they gave a bit more rice with the chicken but everything was amazing. I will definitely come back, thank you so much for the great food & service!

Yelp
The food is amazing as always ! Has been a special spot to visit when in Elmhurst. The food as always was delicious but was surprised to see the place was empty on a weekend, especially during the evening time. Perhaps due to winter, most people order out instead :). Was very sad to see that their service has gone down. I haven't been there for over a year and the warmth and welcoming spirit is gone. The moment I come in no one greeted us nor assigned a table, I had to ask if they were open and just find my seat. As it was just my small group and one other person present in the restaurant, it took them a while to take our order. And they didn't approach us not once for the receipt (which in the past was given to us when checking in on us) nor after our food was dropped off on our table no one asked how we were doing( we had wanted to order dessert and remind them of the additional plate they had forgotten but instead left due to poor service). We had various plates and had several plates pilled up from our appetizers and as they passed by our table no one came to clear our table nor ask how we were doing (a lady was standing in the corner watching and did not approach us). I had to approach the cash register to pay, even though their staff was still standing in the corner watching us. I mentioned to them they had forgotten a plate and our server apologized ( She was nice when we extracted with her) but instead got stared down by the older lady beside her as If I had done something wrong. As I had left my family member who was disabled said thank you because it was his first time trying the food, and instead got ignored completely. Our experience felt like our presence was a disposition to them and truly miss the warmth and hospitality the staff had in the past. Overall I would order pickup or delivery next time and skip dining in (It may seem as the rest of the locals are probably doing the same)

Yelp
We had a great experience dining here! Outdoor seating felt safe - we sat by a window so there was still air flow. Service was friendly and fast. Restaurant was clean and felt safe to eat in. We ordered the lumpia for appetizer. It was pretty good, although i feel like it could have been a bit more flavorful (but i had been craving lumpia for a while so i didn't really care haha it did it's job). For the main course we ordered the pork sisig and escabeche tilapia (both come with a serving of rice). The sisig was sizzling (great for an insta boomerang might i add lol) and tasted great. I really enjoyed the escabeche, though I think the sauce could have had more flavor to it (or maybe I'm just comparing too much to my mom's cooking) but still very good. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and would go back!

Yelp
This was my first time trying Filipino food, so I'm not sure if I still need time to get accustomed to it before I begin to appreciate it, or if Lahi just wasn't for me. A friend and I started by splitting the fried shrimp appetizer. The shrimp were huge and meaty, and perfectly fried. A light but sturdy batter that didn't flake. It came with a sweet spicy red sauce, like a cross between sweet chili sauce and Sriracha, but not quite like either. This was our favorite item. We split two entrees, the Sisig Baboy (crispy pork belly with onions on a sizzling hot plate) and the Kare Kare (oxtail, tripe, and vegetables in a peanut stew and shrimp paste). Each came with rice, we ordered one regular white and one garlic. My friend enjoyed the Sisig, saying it reminded him a bit of pernil. The pork is crispy to the point of being gummy sometimes, sticking to my teeth. There was also a bitterness to the dish that I didn't care for. The onions and the lemon wedge helped cut through that a bit, but I wouldn't order this again. Neither of us cared for the Kare Kare. It's a truly huge portion and we had an entire takeout container of it left. I really enjoyed the tripe, it had such a unique texture, almost spongy, my tongue able to trace each crevice, and it soaked up the stew. But the oxtail was just alright, not as rich or tender as I like it. The shrimp paste (I'm not positive this is what it was, it smelled like some type of seafood paste) came on the side but didn't seem to add much to the dish. The peanut smelled strong but tasted mild. It was hearty food and generously portioned. The restaurant is small and when the sun sets it hits their big windows directly, causing them to draw the shades until it's less piercing. Music was top 40. They brought out one entree before we were done with our appetizer and tried to clear plates away before we were ready, then the other entree didn't come out for another 10 minutes. I'd come back but I'd like to try other Filipino restaurants first.

Yelp
My coworkers and I decided to grab lunch to go from here. Upon picking up food, the place was 3/4 empty, and this was around 1 p.m. on a weekday. Most of us ordered from the entree menu, with one of us ordering from the Brunch menu. A few of us ordered the pork belly with rice, including me. I was starving by the time the lunch hour came around, and I dug right into it. Much my dismay, my entire pork belly portion was burnt, and had a VERY strong burnt carbon taste to it. Not just a little singed, but it was charred on the bottom. Half of it was not edible. Interestingly, the burnt pieces were turned to the bottom of the pan, so from the pictures I took, they just look like regularly grilled pieces. Also, the protein-to-rice ratio was disproportionate. There was a lot of rice compared to the small amount of pork belly, and then only a teaspoon worth of pickled veggies. The entire lunch was quite disappointing. On the other hand, another co-worker of mine got the tapsilog beef brunch special. His came with two fried eggs, garlic rice, pickled vegetables, and grilled beef. He told me that his dish was not only appetizing, but filling as well. I'd like to give this place another try, especially for the brunch special. Now if only they delivered... =( I had high expectations for this place, which is why it hurts me to write a review giving them less than 3 stars.

Yelp
The best Crispy Pata in NYC area! the crispiness of the skin is firm but easily broken when chewing! The meat inside is soft juicy! It is so good with vinegar ad soy....I am hooked!

Yelp
During Covid restrictions, the restaurant extended dining area to maintain safe distancing in seating. All the staff wore mask and hand sanitizer was available. The food was amazing. I look forward to returning.

Yelp
Stopped by for some Filipino breakfast. Huge portions and the fried runny eggs were done perfectly. The sisig tacos were amazing here!!! Cute little gem on Queens Blvd, can't wait to go back

Yelp
I've eaten here a handful of times and always thought the majority of menu items that I've tried were solid, like the sisig tacos, dinuguan, bihon, and sago't gulaman. The only thing my husband and I did 't really like were the lumpia. Since it's a good place overall, this weekend, I ordered food for pick up and asked for less salt so that all of my family members could enjoy restaurant food. It was a hit! My Dad, who almost exclusively prefers homemade food, gave it a thumbs up! We all ate well.

Yelp
Extremely rude staff. They ignored us and gave attitude when we asked for anything. -10 stars out of 10, would never recommend. Respect yourself and eat somewhere that at least wants your business. Also the kare kare tasted like nothing.
