"Lahore’s grilled lamb chops are famous for good reason, and this big Pakistani grill in Whitechapel is something of a classic establishment for groups, or really anyone after a good-value meal. It's open until 1am, and anything off the grill should be priority. That said, the curries and biryanis are crowd-pleasers too." - jake missing, sinead cranna
"If the queue at Tayyabs is longer than your group chat after an evening of questionable decisions, then Lahore Kebab House is where you want to go. Its canteen-like space in Whitechapel was built for big groups of hungry friends and family. The Punjabi menu covers a lot of ground—from korma to karahi gosht—but the skinny sizzling lamb chops rubbed in a moreish curried marinade are a favourite off the grill, along with gently spiced pieces of mutton tikka." - jake missing, sinead cranna
"Out of all of Whitechapel’s canteen-style restaurants, often filled with the pungent smells of marinated meats and curries past, Lahore is surely the most famous. The kebab house off of the Commercial Road has seen many a solo diner and many a big group through good times and bad. Their skinny lamb chops in a yoghurty thick spiced rub are the kind you could get through a troughful of, but if you’re coming with friends then you’ll want to get karahi, naans, biryani and daal as well." - jake missing
"Lahore Kebab House is a certified legend of east London. The roomy Pakistani restaurant in Whitechapel has been making tadka daal, karahi chicken, biryani, and of course, lamb chops for going on half a century. Call them skinny, call them slender, call them whatever you like - you’ll be able to put these away in large quantities. The rub is of the thick, yoghurt variety (our favourite kind) and full of garam masala, chilli, and lemon." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing
"Another legendary Whitechapel restaurant, Lahore is an institution for excellent value, deliciously daal-filled, group meals. That isn’t to say you can’t enjoy their onion bhajis and a portion of softly spiced chicken karahi alone. But the more the merrier is the way to go at Lahore, with family, friends, and dishes on the table." - jake missing
