Phoenix’s 10 Best Breweries | Eater Phoenix

"This 3-year-old brewery in North Phoenix’s Deer Valley neighborhood punches above its weight, pouring solidly made beer. It’s fun, straightforward, a great neighborhood brewery. Lake Pleasant has extensive knowledge of and impressive skill with German and Belgian beer. They execute classics like maibock, schwarzbier (black lager) and Bavarian hefeweizen (Southern German wheat beer). As a bonus reason to visit, know that a few hard house-canned seltzers and cocktails are available. Don’t sleep on the food truck schedule, which brings a river of great options." - Chris Malloy

Google
Great Local Brewery!! Lake Pleasant on Rose Garden just south of 19th ave is a great find. Super friendly owners and staff greet everyone whom comes in. Allie is the best!! She also introduced me to her husband Nicolas, great guy, and the Brewer!! On a previous visit, I met Dustin (also an owner), friendly nice man as well. Seems to me they have the right ingredients for success in this business!! I arrived shortly after they opened around 3:15, few customers were there, but within the hour, they got busy. This tells you they have a really good following. Fantastic selection of Beers, Sours; etc. Snacks are available behind the bar, but around 4-4:30 a Food Truck arrives; nice, real nice for the hungers while having a great brew. I think their Pleasantly Hazy IPA might be my favorite. Also, they have a sour named BOSS that was very good. Mouthful of flavor, not to sour, very fruit-forward on the palate (crisp and refreshing actually), I would recommend to try. And not to forget they have something special I've never tried before (anywhere),, "Hop-Water",,, Allie gave me a glass to drink... oh boy, that's some good stuff, right there!!! They also sell it in cans to go!! Try it, you'll love it! Met a couple of nice people at the bar, good conversation, overall good time!! I will be back!!

First time to this place last Saturday evening with a couple of friends; I hadn't even heard of it until I was called and asked to join them. It was a great experience. Very friendly environment and good people working there. And the beer was excellent. I had them mix me up a black and tan with their Oatmeal Stout and their American Light Lager. It was so delicious; one of the best I've ever had. I even brought home a 4-pack of each.

Google
If you love breweries, you MUST try Lake Pleasant Brewing. The best beer in the valley, brewed all by the owners! A variety of options to choose from and a space in the back for arcade games (that are free!) We recently held a gender reveal party here and the entire brewery shared in our excitement. This place is truly special!! Home away from home vibes ✨

Google
Finally a brewing company that checks all the boxes. My son took me and I was impressed with everything. 1st the beer menu has beer that is very good. By that I mean u have more then 1 choice. Place is family friendly. We had .y grandson with the 1st time. Nice big area in the back 4 family fun. Bags, foos ball table Bunch of old pinball machines. The 2nd time they had a pizza vendor out side making some really good pies. Add yes the beer was COLD

Google
Had a chance to sample a few of the beers today. Not only are the beers fantastic, but the vibe in the place is great as well. If you’re in the area swing by and grab a pint or 4. You’ll meet some fun folks and perhaps find yourself playing a retro arcade game or some cornhole. The crew at Lake Pleasant Brew Co are simply a chill group that you’ll want to grab a pint with. Don’t have a taste palette for beer? No worries - they’ve got some refreshing seltzer options as well. Just go check it out. You’re welcome!

Google
A hidden gem! If you love breweries then you’ll love Lake Pleasant Brewing Co. it’s nestled in an industrial area but don’t be alarmed, the space is great. It’s a typical brewery, there’s no food served but they do have food trucks and pretzels and chips for sale. The beer menu has a variety of great local beers and the menu is easy to follow. I’m a huge fan of IPA beers and had their Diamondback and Sidewinder IPA!

Google
The best brewery there is. Anyone that says otherwise is lying to you. The beer and great food trucks. 100 out of 5 stars. They will always treat you like family.

Google
Relaxing atmosphere. Friendly staff. I asked my friend to recommend a new place for me to try out and she wanted to take me here. We were greeted right when we walked in. We were asked if we would like to sample any of the beers. I sampled a Scottish ale and ended up getting it. Love the smaller glasses they poured the beers into. The place is spacious. They have a game room in the back. You can buy merchandise or brews to go. Can't wait to go back! Highly recommend.

Yelp
The owners take pride in crafting their beer & involving the community. Everyone is welcome! Great for families with open space for kids with board games & old school arcade games. The beer is exceptional! Some unique flavors that you can only find here! Wide varieties & they've got some food trucks set up everyday to pair their offerings! Highly recommend!

Sue P.

Yelp
Great beer, friendly service, and family friendly. TVs, games and food trucks- cheery ambiance with great music always playing. Enjoyable place to spend an afternoon/evening with friends or family.

Yelp
Went for craft night. Enjoyed the blonde and a couple of their seltzers. Both were great. It's a big open building with picnic tables. The service was great. We went for craft night so that was fun too. I'll totally go back.

Yelp
Our favorite PT uses this place to celebrate their anniversary and we're happy to come by! The space is great for gatherings. There is plenty of seating, arcade games, shuffleboard, and cornhole. The vibe is very casual. The staff is always so accommodating and pleasant. They keep a good rotation of offerings too and I noticed since last time we were there, they did start carrying some beer alternatives like cider and seltzers. Depending on the night you come, there are events going on and a food truck parked outside with some delicious tacos!
google avatar

Prima A.

Yelp
I sat down at the bar and was passed over four times by the bartender. Perhaps women over 45 aren't welcome :(
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
If you want to support a local business and have fantastic beer, look no further than Lake Pleasant Brewing Company. They have solid staples and some excellent rotational brews; the owners and staff are super knowledgeable and friendly. They often have food trucks, which makes it easy to have a delicious bite to eat while you're enjoying their beer. The back end of the brewhouse has a lot of awesome arcade games, cornhole, and they also have board games available as well as some snacks for purchase (chips, pretzels, soda etc). Make this place your local tavern and you won't regret it!

Yelp
I drove up from central Phoenix to meet my friend for a beer. She had the Pleasantly Hazy and I had the Munich Dunkel. They both are solidly good beers. The atmosphere here is great. They have a couple of tv's with sports on and music playing, but not too loud. They also have a food truck outside today. Everyone is super friendly and helpful with selections as well. We had a nice time.

Yelp
Quite possibly the best kept secret in North Phoenix!! We discovered this place when we were nearby for an appointment and since we enjoy checking out locally owned breweries such as this one we figured it was worth a try. This place does not disappoint. With a large selection of their own drafts to choose from there is something for every beer lover. Also this place is very kid friendly with free arcade games, shuffleboard and bags in the back warehouse area. Mix in a variety of food trucks throughout the week and other events like bingo night makes this place a must visit for the entire family.
google avatar

Yelp
This place has everything you're looking for in a local brewery - a great selection of beers, nice open vibe with plenty of seating, and incredibly helpful and friendly staff. I stopped in when I was in the area and as soon as I mentioned I hadn't been in before the bartender immediately gave me some great recommendations when I asked about IPAs and suggested a flight. I picked three on his advice (Citraville, Diamondback, and Leap of Faith) and added an Oktoberfest for my 4th and all were fantastic. I just wish I had time to stay and try even more. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
Super Friendly folks! I got to try 5 overall, they were all awesome. The barley wine is definitely my fav, I can't wait to go back for another. The blonde is a perfect summer beer. Clean, crisp and refreshing. This is the beer you want on a hot summer day.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in last Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately I missed any notices that it was their second anniversary. Not ridiculously busy but enough busyness I wasn't able to chat up the staff nor chat about the tap list. By the time I was done w my flight of a Basic Blonde for my mom and for me; the Cucumber Lime Time Sour, Vacation Boss Sour and the Coffee Chocolate Stout the front tap room had thinned out a lot. We sat in the back by the brew house. It was comfortable seating of picnic tables back there. I noticed a small arcade in the corner. I bought some Dunkel and a 57 Heavy to go. Lake Pleasant came highly recommended by two east valley brew pubs. I liked that it was small and that there was also the brew house seating. Parking was easy in a private lot. Great light with a small wall of floor to ceiling windows. Thanks Lake Pleasant for the flight I look forward to a second visit when I can indulge in some beery conversation, cheers!

Yelp
Excellent place for a few drinks and conversation! We live in the neighborhood and frankly have given up on bar scene until we found this gem! Atmosphere is casual & family friendly. Owners get to know everybody. Craft beer selection is fantastic & we also like the in house seltzer. Food trucks r there daily as well. Watch sports, play boards games or free video games...just a great place overall! Support local & stop by..

Yelp
Checked this place out yesterday and it didn't disappoint. The Lake Pleasant Hazy IPA was juicy with hints of grapefruit in it. Their porter was impressive and makes you want to have a glass on a cold night. The Blonde was crisp and would be a perfect pool beer. The cucumber sour has a great taste but could be even more sour especially for people who love sours. A lot of new breweries beers lack taste when first opening. Lake Pleasant brewery hit the ground running. The interior is nice with a place to play corn hole or watch the game. There is a fridge where you can pick up canned beer, and I would pick up a 4 pack as soon as you know which beer you like because the cans went fast. It's quite a large space with a lot of seating at the bar or tables. Both owners are super nice and engaging and answered questions that I had. That LP Hazy will have me coming back and right now its the best Hazy on the west side.

Yelp
This place is fantastic! This place is a must-add to anyone's list when brewery hopping in Phoenix. All though it won't be a hop, it will be a stop-and-stay! They have a wide variety of beers on tap, but I went for an IPA flight and didn't regret trying any of them. They had a great west coast style and a phenomenal couple of Hazy IPAs. They were all so good, I had to also try a few others, which then I purchased a 4 pack of the Bavarian Hefe. They don't serve food but had a great food truck outside, and I believe have a regular schedule for them as well. So if you pop in, make sure to check their website for when they will be there. I always love a brewery with a great brand, so I made sure to check out the merch as well. They have a ton of stuff with a lot of shirt and hat options. To finish this great review off, they also cornhole in the back. You will stick around for a while.

Mike ..

Yelp
There are a lot of nice people working and drinking here. Good beers and free games. We like to come here with a small group of friends. There have been different food trucks each time we go and they have all been pretty good so far.:0)
google avatar

Angelia M.

Yelp
I enjoyed the atmosphere. The beer was great! The pizza outside was also great. It's off the beaten path so make sure you look for it. Parking is a a little tight. But worth it.

Jason R.

Yelp
This place is awesome. It's in the industrial district of north Phoenix but they have free video arcades, shuffle board, board games, corn hole and foosball. The beer is great, my personal favorite is "Tenacious C" and when the food truck "Just the T.I.P" is there I'm having the best night ever. Keep up the good work. Oh and they also sell some cool merch.
google avatar

Taylor B.

Yelp
I would argue this is one of the best breweries in the valley, and I'm so grateful it's in north Phoenix (close to home)! You cannot go wrong here, anything you order will be phenomenal -- the IPA's, the sours, the lighter beers. All amazing! And the owners are all about hospitality and making you feel welcome. Love the spacious environment and all the games available. Very family friendly. My one critique would be that they need to bring back the country line dancing night, make it a monthly staple!
google avatar

Dakine B.

Yelp
First visit and I am happy!. Nondescript strip mall exterior. Large warehouse interior. But it is welcoming. As are the employees and the customers too! I tried all 7 beers. Really solid for a new brewery. Nice people. Cornhole. Shuffleboard. Some free video games. I found nothing to complain about. Well, the two bearded 42 year olds that beat our butts at shuffleboard...I could complain. But nah. A bit of humility is healthy. Welcome to the valley LPBC!
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
Place was packed on Grand Opening, good for them and good if they can handle a full house. Found a seat at the bar, right as someone was leaving. Full. All tables taken and people milling around the back occupying the few standing tables and playing games. I had the sour and the blonde. Sour was okay, not nearly sour enough but the blonde was good. One thing I did notice that most other breweries in the area are closed on Monday, so this place decided to be open Monday and have off Tuesday, hmmm. Will be back again, maybe for that fifth star. We'll see.
google avatar

Jim J.

Yelp
Some of the best beer I've ever had in my life and my wife agrees. Plus the owner was extremely friendly and the service was amazing. Excellent vibes we will be coming back.
google avatar

Megan S.

Yelp
Lake Pleasant Brewery is located in a quiet little strip mall just off the 17 and Rose Garden. The inside is huge and offers a bar, table seating, and an indoor beer garden area with games which are great for groups like cornhole. The beer is really good. I sampled the chocolate coffee stout and the dunkel and I really liked both! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the products. I will absolutely be back!
google avatar

Jimmy D.

Yelp
First time at Lake Pleasant Brewery and won't be last. Excellent variety of craft beers; had a Jalapeño Lime Time sour and BOSS blood orange smoothie sour both were unique/outstanding. If hungry they have food trucks which are just outside the front door. Service was excellent, place had a nice positive vibe. This is my new favorite brewery in the Phoenix metro area!
google avatar

Nate K.

Yelp
This is an excellent place to grab a beer. It's so great hitting up a brewery that makes excellent beer coupled with great service. They've got a culture of community-building too, which is helping to reshape the craft beer scene of North Phoenix. If you haven't made it out yet, definitely don't wait! It's worth the trip. Also, I'm a huge fan of their rotating food truck schedule!
google avatar

Mick N.

Yelp
F**#%g Fantastic Well worth the drive from Mesa. Tried 4 different beers and all of them were great. Cool place, tons of stuff to do while drinking beer. Board games, video games, cornhole etc!! I wish these guys the best!!
google avatar

Dylan R.

Yelp
The most amazing beer selection from the most amazing people you will come across. The love that both families put into their beer and service is unmatched in the North Phoenix area. They'll remember your name and your order every single time if you come in more than once. Couple it with the rotating food truck menu for anything you could ever want, a large event space, and all the stand up video games to play with? An amazing brewery with an upwards trajectory that will take it to "out of this world"

Yelp
As a craft beer snob... I'm always on the hunt for something incredible! Our family loves to support local and I'm so happy PHX is continuing to grow its brewery scene. Lake Pleasant Brewing is a must for anyone who loves beer. I haven't found a beer on their menu that isn't f-ing fabulous. The owners make this location feel like it's home to any and all! Hands down this is our families favorite spot! The free play ol school arcade games are an added sip of awesomeness.
google avatar

Rosemary V.

Yelp
This is one of the best breweries that we have gone to in AZ. Everyone who works here is so nice, takes the time to talk with you and get to know you. The beers do not disappoint! I rave about how good they are to everyone and when family comes to visit I always make an effort to bring them to this brewery and they also enjoy the beers. My 12 year old also enjoys coming with us to this brewery because they have games for him and for the family. It's one of our go to spots! We love that they always have a food truck outside or we could bring in food too. If I had any complaint it would be that they don't allow dogs, but we understand since they don't have a patio area, but still our favorite brewery.
google avatar

Vanessa P.

Yelp
Had the best experience at Lake Pleasant Brewery today! Great service, great beer and great music! Can't ask for more than that on a Sunday funday!
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
My favorite local brewery! The owners are absolutely amazing! They are friendly and very passionate about what they do! Super chill vibes inside! You can kick back and watch sports, play video games, or grab a board game to play with friends. Most important, the beer selections are always great and if you can't make up your mind they are happy to offer a little taste to help you decide!
google avatar

Chris K.

Yelp
We have visited several times and love the service and beers. They have a great German Dunkel. Good variety of beers. Huge area to sit and enjoy your pints. The service is outstanding. This Brewery has become a favorite of ours.
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
Though it's not really near Lake Pleasant, I was impressed with this newer brewery. It was pleasantly busy on a Thursday night. They had a few special beers (triple ipa, imperial stout, barleywine, ddh ipa) for their one-year anniversary, and they were all good. I also had their flagship hazy ipa, which was excellent. No kitchen, but they have regular food trucks. A large space in back can accommodate crowds, while the front area is more intimate. Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable service with no pretentious beer snobbery or unnecessary hipsterness. They also have nice merchandise for sale. I would highly recommend visiting.
google avatar

Ana P.

Yelp
One of the best breweries in town. They understand what it takes to create craft beer, and a great selection at that! You will always find what you were looking for. Check out their social media to see what food vendors they have.
google avatar

Ben M.

Yelp
I like German beer and they happen to make some tasty brews! I enjoyed every beer I tried. The kids also enjoyed the free play arcade games.

Carly A.

Yelp
Such a fun environment, GREAT beer and even better owners. Nick and Allie are by far the best owners I've encountered in a brewery who truly put their heart into their beer.
google avatar

Berta L.

Yelp
Can't go wrong with any of these home brews! Fun atmosphere, also entertainment for the whole family. Board games, bags, shuffle board, and more! The owners are always there and super friendly. Different food trucks to try and a good spot to hang out between sport games at Reach 11.
google avatar

Christina Y.

Yelp
Awesome spot! They have a great selection of beers and a few varieties of each. Love the warehouse vibe and the amount of space inside. They've got multiple arcade games, bags, and board games so there's plenty to do. The bartenders were very friendly and helpful, happy to answer our questions as first timers. Will definitely be going back and excited to have another local spot!
google avatar

Andrea A.

Yelp
Met two of the amazing owners and sampled several of the beers and we are both very impressed. We love a large range of beers and are usually thrilled if we find one or two from a brewery that we love, we had a hard time picking a favorite, high praise! Highly recommend! We took two four packs to go and look forward to seeing them continue to grow and flourish!
google avatar

Dewayne C.

Yelp
They have only been opened a short time, but have a pretty good selection of beers. A nice Scottish beer would be a great addition "hint, hint". Really casual and super clean. You can play cornhole and shuffleboard in the back by the brewing tanks. Both times I have been there (on Mondays, as they are the only brewery in the area open that day) and they have had a food truck.
google avatar

Diana C.

Yelp
New to the state, looking for local breweries. Found this place, great place to hang out and have great beer. Check their Instagram for food truck options. Clean and family friendly. Didn't notice an outdoor space but there is plenty of room indoors.
google avatar

Rich W.

Yelp
First time here... Good beer [tried the chocolate coffee, stout and the N64 IPA]. Indoor foosball... Shuffleboard... Video games... Kids are all occupied while parents are having a good beer. Pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff.
google avatar

Eric Y.

Yelp
We were in search of an ale house to wet our tongues. We were pleasantly surprised to hear word of such an establishment only a few minutes from our current location. We mounted our wheeled steeds and set our course to the East. We rode swiftly and didn't encounter a soul on the journey. We arrived only to find there was nowhere to lock up our wheeled beasts. I entered the establishment and asked the bar maiden if it would be okay to rest our steeds just inside the door. She was accommodating. We both ordered a 10oz brew. I chose the Ryes and Shine, the taste satisfied my thirst. My beloved chose the Blood Orange Smoothie Sour. She enjoyed it just as much as I did mine.

Henry W.

Yelp
My favorite brewery in Arizona. Incredibly high quality brews and very unique options, can't go wrong with any of them. The employees and owner are very friendly and knowledgeable. Lots of fun things to do there as well such as arcade games, board games, and for hole. Check it out!

Jas M.

Yelp
Delicious beer and very friendly staff! Favorite neighborhood bar! We'll be back often.
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
Love this place. Owners were awesome, beer was fantastic. Highly recommended if you want to have a few good brews
google avatar

Tabitha _.

Yelp
I've visited Lake Pleasant Brewing a few times and always find something not only tasty but interesting, too. Of course, they have IPAs galore and they're great--from hazy and juicy to grassy and bitter. But they have more than IPA! Their hefe is a big favorite of mine amongst local breweries. The vibe is very friendly and less "bro" than some other beer places :). You should defo. check it out for a few sips whether you're alone or with a group.
google avatar

Jen N.

Yelp
Listen, if you're going to make a raving review and you're legitimately happy, overall, with your experience...then give this locally owned, amazing business 5 stars and nothing less. Lake Pleasant Brewing is fantastic and anyone who has only good things to say yet omits one star needs to stop being a silly Karen who thinks they're some kind official paid critic. These two owners are doing a great thing for this community and they're doing a phenomenal job! The service and beers are outstanding. Even if I thought the sour beer could be a little more sour (which I don't), I'd give 5 stars because these guys are DOING THIS THING right and everyone has different taste. Cheers!!
google avatar

Eric E.

Yelp
Coming from the land of many breweries (just outside Portland OR), this place is everything you would want. Great beer, friendly staff, and free games that make you want to stay and have another. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Brandon S.

Yelp
Nick & Dustin are awsome I've been coming here multiple times a week for the last couple months very knowledgeable when it comes to beer friendly and they have a passion for that they do.
