Lake Shore Commissary

The girl that works here has such a bad attitude and is always on her phone. Don’t care of someone being on their phone if they are friendly. The guys working here are always friendly and cool. It only takes one bad apple to shop at the convenient store next door, that has a bigger selection. I signed a petition to keep this convenient store in the building. The least I expect is someone not to reflect their attitude and ruin my day.

I m greatful the new owner has such a great section of wine,beer and liquor. Also the Groceries section is amazing. I could everything I need this location.

Building resident for 25+ years...new owners have made significant changes and implemented progressive ideas that are quite obvious as soon as you walk through the doors!!

Well stocked but expensive which you can expect because it is incredibly convenient. Overall 10/10 experience everytime.

The convenience store gets the job done when you're in a pinch. I'll usually stop by for chips, candy, or a soda. I wouldn't have qualms with the price if they made sure the snacks weren't past their "best by" date but there have been several times I would check after eating to realize it's several days past. The family who owns the store is friendly and it is kept pretty clean. Staff may not be at the register when you first come in but somehow they know when you're ready to check out and will appear out of nowhere.

The convenience of this is great. But I am sick and tired of the bad service. If you go shortly before the close, they rush you. On rare occasions they have closed a few minutes EARLY. Today was the most disturbing experience. I bought a box of plastic forks. When I took it to my unit, they all fell out of the box, because the box popped open when it should not have. I went back to the store, asking to exchange it. First they said yes, then went back and forth between making me pay again and not about 3 times, despite me emphasizing I shop there many times per week and this has NEVER happened before. Finally, when I said if they wouldn't exchange it for that reason I would take my business elsewhere, they said to take the exchange and not pay. This is unacceptable service. Also, not sure why it says San Francisco on here, but I live in Chicago and shop at the commissary every week.

I ordered grubhub during the quarantine. This is product I received. Expired ice cream from September 2019, today's date is March 26, 2020.

This is a great store!! Family-owned, they have a great selection of quick items. They stayed open during the Pandemic the whole time, so I didn't have to put myself at risk. If I ever had a problem, one quick call, and they would do anything they could to fix it.

Really convenient to have this in the building, and they have a great selection of alcohol. They also have the regular organic stuff I run out of often, such as eggs and almond milk. Really love the sweet couple that runs this place too! Excellent hours, and they check to make sure that if you buy something a little unusual, it's not expired. Love them!
