The Best Food at New Orleans’s Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo | Eater New Orleans

"At Xanh I tried a rice paper salad, the Viet-Cajun crawfish bread (noted as returning from Xanh Nola chef Anh Luu), and spinach and artichoke bread, showcasing a fusion of Vietnamese and Cajun flavors." - Clair Lorell

Takin' this goodness to go, still so good a half hour later on an outdoor excursion. Crisp and clear were all the ingredients in how they interacted with one another, fresh bites and just enough flavor to savor for the holy moment. Lasting memories which I'm grateful Laksa could be a part of. Yee haw n' yippee kai-yay 🍜🍣

Excellent experience. Had been watching Uncle Roger so much that it finally hit me to find a Malaysian restaurant in Nola. So glad I found Laska Nola. Excellent authentic food. So flavorful. I cleaned my dish and ramekins. Stellar customer service by the owner. What more can I say? I will definitely return soon and highly recommend this gem. Thank you!

Try all the soups 🍲! Best laksa I've had outside of Malaysia. Very friendly and accommodating service. Outdoor and indoor seating available.

This food is fire. The chef was so accommodating and personable. Got the spring rolls, satay and chicken laksa. Highly recommend it all. I could eat this broth everyday. Everything was so fresh and flavorful! Will be back for sure

Delicious Burmese food - my introduction. Nice spicy curry and lovely cold peanut noodles. Would love to go back.

When I worked at MARFORRES I saw a flyer for Laksa. Then there was the Asian Foodie Fest and had a plate. It was yummy. Then this past weekend I was in the area and stopped to give them a try. Actually turned around and came back to them. Had the shumai and was some of the best shumai I've ever had. Could have used a little ginger I'm the mix but still damn good. Then went with the Laksa bowl. That broth was creamy and perfect. Had the shrimp and chicken with the egg noodles. Asked for it spicy and had to get more of the chili pepper mix. Wish I could have added whatever they top off the shumai with to add a little sweetness but still it was really good and filling. Would do it again.

Not the biggest fan of the food. I have little to no experience with Burmese cuisine, so I don’t want to be critical and say it's not authentic because I don’t know. I will say to me, the noodle dishes tasted like soy sauce and ketchup. Everything needed more salt, and a lot more spice. Stir fry had overcooked oily veggies as opposed to a nice crunch. The roti was very good, the thai tea was pretty good. Everything else not really. For what you pay, I think the portions make sense. It was a pretty good amount of food compared to what others say.

To preface this review, the food here isn’t authentic Malaysian food, so you will be disappointed if that’s what you’re expecting. However, it’s not bad and worth the trip if you’re craving laksa or nasi lemak. The food here tends to be on the bland side of the real dish. The nasi lemak came with a curry side, which isn’t a combination I’ve seen before. The chicken satay tasted good, but it needed more char on the outside. It also wasn’t marinated thoroughly and was very bland on the inside. I enjoyed the Burmese ice tea, it tastes very similar to milk tea. I would come again if I’m craving food from home.
