Lamill Coffee Boutique Review - Silver Lake - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Is this the best coffee in LA? For our money, yes. The place is certainly more of a restaurant than an all-day hang, but come here any day of the week and you’ll see a solid mix of laptops and groups of friends catching up. The food is simple but good, the wifi is free, and you can usually scrounge up an outlet too." - Brant Cox

Google
It’s a very spacious spot where you can chill or work on a few stuff. The matcha latte I ordered hit good! I didn’t expect their matcha was decent. Their burrito was pretty good too. The combo of guacamole and spicy sauce. The only downside is the price of it. It was kinda pricey for two items. Total came out to be around $30 plus tips. But for the vibe, service and food quality, it might be worth it.

Google
Good selection and crafting of coffee and food. Ate there three mornings in a row. All was delicious.

2025 update: we came back after a while, the quality is definitely going down, maybe for cost saving, but please brjng back the old days Lamill! Breakfast sandwich is SCRUMPTIOUS!!!! We come here every two weeks and only order the breakfast sandwich with sausage, it is amazing!!!!

Google
Adorable cafe in Silverlake - the interior was cute with nice framed pictures on the wall, good seating, indoor and outdoor, and the service was good. There’s a free water station but the water tasted like tap water and it didn’t taste as appetizing, they have a limited gluten free menu but I tried the arugula peach salad and my friend had their nachos dish (forgot what it’s called but it’s also GF) and it was okay. The salad was good but it was a salad; not mind blowing by any means but healthy and light. It’s a typical coffee / cafe shop and fun to stop by if you’re visiting in the area!!

Such a cool place. Quiet and trendy all that a coffeshop needs to be

I had some time to kill before a Pilates class across the street and ordered a decaf cappuccino and butter croissant, dine in. The price was 13 dollars including tip which is a little steep but for the location, to be expected. My croissant was perfection. Flaky and golden on the outside and a nice chew on the inside. My cappuccino took a while and arrived rather cold. I enjoyed the service and music selection (music also wasn’t too loud) but the banquette seating was literally falling apart. For such a posh establishment with the prices to match, my seat shouldn’t be coming apart beneath me.

I come here every Saturday and have tried a variety of tea, coffee, and food. They are very busy on weekends, but I love the atmosphere and food!!!

Google
Super cute coffee shop with giant tables and big comfy chairs perfect for getting work done. They have an excellent assortment of baked goods and coffees. I only took one star off because they didn't have any decaf coffee and I ordered a decaf espresso, which they gave me cold. Otherwise, I loved the vibes and food here!

Yelp
LAMILL coffee - silver lake location has great coffee and food, located in LA near everything. Interior is really picturesque & spacious, cute for photos and also a great brunch spot! Service was good I found something in my rice and the refunded me and gave me another order of the rice immediately. Very attentive & the food is delicious. Their specialty is coffee, definitely Recommend this spot if you're in LA! What we ordered : - chicken adobo fried rice 10/10 - caprese chicken sandwich - Ube coconut cream matcha latte 10/10 - honey cinnamon iced latte

Yelp
The line took so long, we probably waited around 30min on a Saturday at 11:00am. The staff was really nice though. They greeted us with such fun and upbeat energy, which is an amazing feat thinking about how many people he had to interact with. I ordered the spinach feta danish pastry, and then the mixed berry pop tart. Spinach feta pastry -- delicious. Yum! The pastry part was so buttery and flaky and well baked. So delicious, I would definitely get it again. The mixed berry pop tart was good... I wouldn't get it again though. I don't know. Nothing to write home about. What I was most excited about: The Ube Cream Coconut Matcha Latte -- it was okay. The matcha latte part was meh, the ube part was meh. It just didn't hit that well. I miss Porto's ube matcha. I don't know. Flavors just didn't go crazy, so yeah. It was a wonderful vibe, but I don't think I'd necessarily come back. Although I might because it's kind of the only coffee place nearby the reservoir and I love walking around.

Yelp
I have never been here before; only enjoying their teas at a spa that I was familiar with. I had swiped an Earl Grey from there to give to an associate, and they loved it so much that they came here to buy their own box, in addition to getting me one of my favorites, Moroccan Mint. I know this has nothing to do with the taste of the tea, but the box design is beautiful. Long overdue, I wanted to return the favor, and knew I'd have to make my way over to their shop to do so. I do not go into this neighborhood often, so I tried to map everything out prior, including checking out yelp. One thing I was immediately put off by was the fee that is added to the checks. It didn't appear as though this could have the option of being removed either. Either way, this was one of the rare times I'll just take one for the team. Parking is tricky, but I found a spot just past the light on the corner. Walking over, I encountered a tiny line, but glad I checked out photos on here as I knew exactly where to find the boxes of hot tea. Once I arrived to the front, a friendly girl greeted me and asked if I wanted anything else. Of course, I gave into a chocolate croissant since I saw it sitting there, so I might as well. Offered me a bag after ringing me up, and handed me the requested receipt. I hate to say, but the croissant was pretty darn good. Quite flaky where pieces were falling off (but if you know me, I still ate those fallen pieces). Pleasantly surprised as I checked out my receipt, there was no fee tacked onto this purchase; perhaps since it was a retail one (although the croissant was not, but it was to go?), it was just the appropriate tax charged, and that was it. I still wanted to kick myself for spending nearly $30 for those three items, but it was a trip that was worth it after all. Due to the nice girl, selection of items being in stock, and the really good chocolate croissant, I won't mind visiting again.

Yelp
Such a cute vibe!!!! Had such a nice time at LAMILL Coffee! The pastries were fresh out of the oven--warm, soft, and so good. I got the sweet matcha and it was delicious, not too sweet and super smooth. The staff was really friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The inside is adorable--cozy, stylish, and a perfect spot to chill or catch up with a friend. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
I sincerely hope this makes its way to the owner and head chef, because this is an important quiche related matter that needs to be addressed. Lamill Coffee in Silverlake used to serve THE BEST QUICHE I've ever had in my life. I'm not exaggerting. It used to melt in your mouth. The texture was soft and custardy which contrasted perfectly with the incredible crisp of the crust. I enjoyed this glorious quiche for years!! But then something tragic happened :( Around a year ago, maybe a little more. I went to Lamill and ordered my favorite quiche but this time was bland, soggy and not good. This wasn't my quiche. I couldn't even finish it, and I left disapointed. At first I thought it was just an off day but over time I've given it many additional chances hoping the original magic would return. But it never has!! At this point, I've given up and stopped ordering the quiche altogether, because it's truly terrible. But I need to know!! WHAT HAPPENED?!? Was there a change in the recipe and WHY? Please bring back the old quiche, the one that I'd constantly crave (and still do) PLEASE!!!

Yelp
Great place for a chat and a bite. First, there is some parking in the back but it's likely full. It's more of a hassle to go into the lot and get turned around and then back out onto the street so I would recommend grabbing a two hour spot on the street. All the tables and chairs were occupied inside but it was easy to find a table outside. They all had sun protection. It seems like a place people hang out and do some laptop camping. It has a good vibe so maybe they feel it and get some good work done! The food: Chicken Ceasar Salad. $19.50. First of all, I don't even like it, but my friend does and we each picked something to split. This was her choice, and you know what? It was really good! I was afraid the chicken would be dry but it wasn't. It was moist and tasty. Thumbs up! I ordered avocado toast. $15.50. It was delicious. It was a little difficult to cut. I actually would have preferred something other than a bread knife to cut it. Still, it was excellent and so was the presentation. They really prettied it up! Big yes on the avo toast! This is a great place if you want to get a feel for the Silverlake scene. If you have a friend from out of town, this would be a place where they can get a slice of LA life. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Loved it and you will too!

Yelp
Convenient spot if you want a coffee on the go as it's not too far from the Silver Lake reservoir. It was my first time here and I didn't realize how much space there was inside and even more seating space outside. The line can build up and look overwhelming, but it goes by quick!
google avatar

Autumn L.

Yelp
The bacon cheddar chive scone was delicious!! So good and fluffy. The actual shop was also very cute and bustling. The coffee itself was...not good. Like really not good. Stopped by while I waited for my car at the mechanic and will return for scone.

Yelp
This is an oddly specific review, but, coffee doesn't have to be burnt to bitterness. The line was all the way out the door and down the sidewalk and took a really long time. I understand it's busy that's fine but I wrongly assumed it must mean the coffee is worth the wait. I saw they had Ethiopian coffee and was soo excited as that is one of my favorite beans. I got my coffee to go only to leave and try it to find it was incredibly bitter. So sad :(

Yelp
Lamill is the perfect semi-upscale neighborhood coffee spot. There's something for everyone on the drink menu, as well as a bountiful pastry case. There's lots of indoor seating, as well as side patio tables. Street parking where you can find it is the name of the game here.

Yelp
Spent a Saturday morning at this cafe to do some work and had a somewhat decent experience. The staff was very welcoming and kind. I loved the atmosphere and bright interior design. The almond croissant I had was amazing and freshly baked. The only unfortunate thing that happened was that they forgot about my ube coconut cream matcha latte that I ordered. I gave them some time and forgot that I was waiting on a drink as I was doing some work at a table. When I asked about it, they did admit that they didn't have it up on their orders and forgot about it. They were able to make my latte and issued a refund though after I showed my receipt, so that made up for it since I wasn't in a rush. Overall, this was a lovely place. The parking lot in the back was a bit small but I got lucky finding a spot in the early morning. It got quite crowded and busy as the morning went on. Will return to try out their other pastries and drinks when I'm back in Silverlake but will probably find a quieter coffee shop if I'm planning to do some work.

Yelp
I tried their seasonal drink, Ube Coconut Cream Matcha Latte. The Matcha flavor isn't evident (although I requested an extra scoop but I was told that they make it by batch). Ube flavor is evident though which I love! (because I love anything Ube). The staff are welcoming and the place is pretty nice and neat. Looking forward to our next visit to try out other specialty drinks as well as their coffee and the food!

Yelp
The pastries? Legit. The quiche? Delicious. Coffee? It's brown go juice that tastes good. Service was friendly, team seems to work well together. Tons of seating inside with some out front as well. Banana Nutella pop tart was ridiculous.

Yelp
Love Lamill! Such a nice space to hang out and their drinks and food are amazing. I love the matcha and the banana date cake, but you can't go wrong. The staff is always kind and quick. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Came here for an early morning breakfast on a Sunday and there was a line! But they were pretty quick with our to-go order which was nice. I got a latte, vegetarian breakfast burrito, almond croissant, vanilla latte, mocha, sausage breakfast sandwich. The vegetarian breakfast burrito was AMAZING! As a vegetarian breakfast burritos are a hit or miss but this was really good. The almond croissant was also incredible! My BF said it was probably that best one he has ever had and we get almond croissants almost anywhere we can so that's quite high praise. The coffees/breakfast sandwich were pretty underwhelming. Everything here is REALLY expensive so I was hoping the coffee at least would be good but unfortunately it was really watery and just not good. The sandwich was a little dry and lacking in flavor. Overall, while some of the food we got was really good, overall for the price, I would just expect a little more.
google avatar

Misa O.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I tried the Avocado Toast and Breakfast Sandwich through Doordash, and it was one of the best Avocado Toasts and Breakfast Sandwiches I've had. The Breakfast Sandwich reminds me of a sandwich version of the Wake and Late Burrito because the potato added a perfect crunch and the eggs were fluffy. There was a perfect balance of all the ingredients. So unfortunate that the prices are high ($17 for an Avocado Toast is crazy) because otherwise this place would've gotten 5 stars from me.

Midsy D.

Yelp
I love this place Coffee great Food always consistently good Service fast and efficient Hate the interior decor but love the outside patio
google avatar

Yelp
What's not to love? Great coffee and drinks , food, and ambiance. You can people watch and bring your dog. Great spot close to the house that is always working their hardest. The ham and cheese croissant was amazing and then had a cinnamon roll for dessert. So good I forgot to take my photo !

Yelp
Lamill has lost a customer.. When I think of Lamill, I think of a great work space, consistent coffee and friendly staff. However, today left me disappointed and leaving with a sour taste in my mouth. I can fully respect working during a tough day and not being in the best of moods, but today our served provided the rudest service i've ever experienced in LA. His interactions were bitter, snarky and stand offish and his general disposition made us feel patronised and unwelcome.
google avatar

Denis S.

Yelp
Somehow this place has become our go-to spot for weekend mornings with me and my five year old. It's cute and food is pretty good, but as others have mentioned, it's incredibly expensive. I'm sure their rent isn't cheap, but the prices are crazy for what you get. The service is ... ok. All I'm saying is that if you change an arm and a leg for three slices of bacon, maybe don't forget to bring it.

Tony F.

Yelp
i am kinda of really like this good food and coffee place.! good food and yes service, good ambiance and a place of many to be enjoyed for the people and with by the people for nice things. and epic too. with what you can combine to make a special occasion it's all in the name,; LA Mills!

Yelp
LAMILL Coffee in Silver Lake is a gem. The breakfast burrito is hearty and the salsa is spot-on. Great food, good vibes--definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
This morning my friend and I stopped to have breakfast after trying to locate the "Hidden Stairway in Silverlake". This place is amazing. Everything was so freshly prepared. We had the veggie quiche, banana walnut chia muffin and a ube coconut cream matcha. So delicious. We will definitely be back. Definitely made up after walking the stairs.
google avatar

Janie F.

Yelp
Ruined UBE matcha by a new guy working there who loaded half the cup with ice. Seriously disappointing and to tip someone who wasn't trained properly. ‍
google avatar

Earthchild R.

Yelp
Nice place, happy they have many bathrooms, large space with many seating areas. Good coffee. Good bakery, nice place to sit down and get some work done. Street parking. WiFi yes. Soft seats. I wish they opened later than 3pm, because when I have to write and they close I find myself having to move to another coffee shop and it disrupts my work flow.

Marcus D.

Yelp
This is a place for locals. There is no parking, and it is expensive. But if you live in Silverlake, you can afford to go here. You are banned from using your laptop over the lunch period (how very how bouche quoi), but I understand that no one wants to listen to someone else's zoom call over a stale coffee cake which happens to taste like sick. Instead you can listen in on other peoples conversations due to too many seats inside with no room for customers at the till. The place has the atmosphere of a wet sock and the coffee, from one who is well traveled and European, is not coffee as far as I am aware. It should be a one star rating, but the staff are always nice to me and I get the occasional wink which is the only reason I have been more than once.
google avatar

Sevana W.

Yelp
A great place to chat or do work, but definitely not the best coffee out there. My iced salted caramel latte was much too salty for my taste, and I didn't finish the drink. It was also super expensive, even relative to other LA coffee shops.
google avatar

Harry O.

Yelp
Starting the day with pleasant smiles, fresh aromas, positive greetings and new friendships!!

Sue S.

Yelp
The ***best*** quiche anywhere Savory with excellent thin crust. Very friendly staff
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
Coffee is decent but I came here Thursday morning and the guy taking our order was so rude. This was one of my go-to spots in the neighborhood but sadly will not be returning

Betsy M.

Yelp
I like their coffee. I like their pastries. But DON'T expect items you order for delivery to be available. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant. It was on the menu and they accepted the order. The dasher had to inform me they only had chocolate. I canceled because I couldn't get what I ordered. Couldn't get a refund. $20 out of pocket for nothing.
google avatar

Max M.

Yelp
I love this place. The baked goods are incredible, chocolate pistachio croissant is amazing. You need to be prepared to publicly shame yourself to eat it because when it say that b is messy, she messy. As a self proclaimed black cold brew d-bag, I can confidently say that it is easier to make a $40 million dollar withdrawal from an English Bank on Christmas morning than it is to leave LAMILL with a cold brew in hand. I have been here over a dozen times, sometimes first thing. Too early for the cold brew to be ready. Sometimes I've shown up at 11:00am, too late. lol. This place has friendly and professional staff, amazing pastries and is exceptionally clean...but I don't like obtaining a cold brew to feel like a game of "Where's Waldo?". I will seek out an employee and bribe them to save me a cup of cold brew if that's what it takes. I will camp out the night before. I will do what it takes. Please, LAMILL, I want to love you. I am confident that with my horrible credit and pathetic income I could qualify for a 6 bed/5 bath home loan a block away from this shop before I could get the coveted liquid gold known as LAMILL cold brew. I shall not rest until this matter is resolved. No pets allowed inside (but one time I was there this mf had a CAT on his table). 4.5/5
google avatar

Danna K.

Yelp
The Poblano and cheese pastry was adored by my partner. I had the weird sounding french toast which tasted like a normal good french toast without hits of rooibos and enough cinnamon for me to not get it again. Register lady was super nice but they did get our order wrong and we had to get it right. Cool crowd. Nice inside and outside. Lots of and writers chilling as they're in strike. Pretty flours blooming. Limited parking in the back.
google avatar

Sheryl C.

Yelp
They don't have one single vegan pastry anymore. The little banana and date bundt cake was my favorite.
google avatar

Sam R.

Yelp
Lamill is a great work/study spot with comfy chairs and quick, friendly service. It's in a fun part of Silverlake and just down the street from an auto shop I had dropped my car off at, so it made for the perfect spot to hang out while I waited. Unfortunately, pricing here is sooo expensive, even compared to other spots in Silverlake/Echo Park area. It was almost $12 for a black tea and pastry - the pastries are super tiny as well. I also was never told that there was a service charge added, which would have influenced my tip, so that was another $1 needlessly added on.
google avatar

Carl N.

Yelp
Coffee makes me user friendly. Lol. With that said let's begin this new cafe review. LAMILL Coffee is a modern full-service café that serve great coffee and tea. As well as fresh pastries, donuts and breakfast/lunch. They're located in the trendy area of Silverlake along Silverlake boulevard. Their eclectic interior decor and layout were modern and spaciously well conceived. The large leather colorful lounge chairs makes this cafe imbues a classy restaurant. Atmosphere was quite relaxing. Moreover, their splendid menus make this cafe a favorite hangout destination among locals. And their outdoor street patio has good view of Silverlake boulevard. I came here on a rainy Thursday morning (12/29) to grab a hot drink. I was perfunctorily greeted by a male barista. I perused their menu and ordered a Valrhona Mocha - a dark hot chocolate mix with milk and double shot of espresso topped with foam. It was delightful and perfect way to treat yourself on a rainy day. Staff was cordial and professional. Service was bloody excellent. Prices were fair and match the quality. Plenty of street parking. Overall, I highly enjoyed my hot drink and service. I recommend this cafe.
google avatar

Irene Q.

Yelp
Lamill has new menu items you must try! Today, we tried the Adobo Fried Rice and the Ancient Grains Salad; both were delicious! I got the Roasted Pablano and Oaxaca cheese croissant to go; also delicious. They have new breakfast items that I would like to try, but they start serving breakfast at 11:30 am so get there early. Service is good as usual. Ambiance is always bright and beautiful. They have outside seating, which is a plus. Will have to come back to try more new menu items especially the breakfast items.

Yelp
This place deserves every single star. To me, it operated like a full service restaurant once we found our seats. The people who took our orders, brought us our food, checked on us, and cleared our table were wildly warm and genuinely nice. As a service s*ut, I fell in love. I met a friend here to just relax and chit chat. Our drinks were perfectly made and our quiche and salad orders were divine. I purchased coffee beans that they ground for me-espresso grade. The coffee tastes like enchanted chocolate with whispers of charity and thick and lusty rhododendron honey. Parking: It may be a bit challenging. We found parking along the street in front of the shop.
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
Just ok! The line was long and I didn't get the hype but in a cute area that's up and coming. Also when we went there were a bunch of bees flying around it was scary. The scrambled eggs and lattes weren't anything to go crazy about
google avatar

Ashleigh M.

Yelp
Matcha girlies, this place is a skip. An iced matcha with almond milk is almost 10 bucks and it comes in a pre-mixed jug in the fridge. Immediately no. I enjoy treating myself to a matcha at a cute shop and I'll pay over 6/7 bucks but this one sadly missed the mark for me.

Kevin A.

Yelp
Ordered a drip coffee. Waited 15 mins. Tried to ask the food runner. He didn't want to look at me. Went to the register and asked for a refund. No apology for it not coming out, no offer to actually make the coffee. Had to bring in a second employee, same non apology, non offer. The coffee shop couldn't / wouldn't make a drip coffee. I live a block away, wish there was another coffee shop on the strip. I gave it two stars, because I did get my refund.
google avatar

Laura E.

Yelp
The salmon toast was absolutely . So very well spiced and presented as well as super YUMMY! Got this thru UberEats, but didn't let me rate chai and toast. Chai was brown watered down nonfat.

Yelp
Lamill Coffee is an old favorite of mine. I've always been a fan of their coffee, their pastries, and their menu in general. So, I was excited to make a return visit after several years to try what was new. Parking is still not terrible. Often I've parked in the street, but if you're lucky, you might be able to snag a spot in the back parking lot. For lunch, I got the Italian sandwich, which was so good and I really loved the inclusion of giardiniera. I also got a really delicious coffee as well! It was just as I remember it. Still a must-visit place if you're in Silver Lake!

Caroline C.

Yelp
Came for a quick bite and study session after a run around the reservoir. It was a short and pleasant walk. Almond croissant was amazing and was incredibly flaky and balanced. Latte was also excellent. Inside is a wait service and you get a number and choose your own seat. Couldn't figure out the WiFi situation but there are other outlets inside. Also an abundance of outdoor seating.
google avatar

Olivia S.

Yelp
A good place for work lunches. Good coffee and I've enjoyed everything I've tried on the menu so far. Really love the breakfast burrito and their potatoes are excellent!
google avatar

Sandra Y.

Yelp
A bit pricey but consistently friendly service and good food every time I've been (which is about 5-6 times over the last few months). I've had the avocado toast, the burger, coffee, pop tart, croissant, and probably more that I can't remember. Parking can be difficult in the small lot they have, though I've been able to find a spot more often than not. There is also street parking available, and you can usually find a spot out there. They have ample seating inside, though sometimes it can get a little noisy and crowded so I prefer to sit outside if the weather allows. The outdoor seating is to the side of the establishment and spills into their small parking lot. A lot of it is shaded so that's a bonus as well during warmer days. I appreciate the service, the spaciousness, and the consistency. I've already been here multiple times, so obviously would return. Give it a try!

Yelp
Just got a 7 dollar iced coffee black and then a dog peed inside. I'm not sure what was worst to be honest.

Yelp
I am truly baffled by why this place only has 3.5 stars on yelp. The ambience is fantastic, the cashier was friendly, the coffee was great. It's no skin off my back anyway since I'll be returning and that means more room for me .

Yelp
This place is an institution, but it has fallen far from the heights. First and foremost the barista working today must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed because he wasn't just rude, but confrontational with customers. Saw some guy put the cream back in the wrong spot on the counter and the barista growled at him. Not at all helpful. Food is ok. Coffee is still good.
