Lamonica's NY Pizza

This is the go to spot in West LA for pizza. The pizza is very good quality probably one of the closest to actual NY pizza. Pro tip - ask for the pizza extra crispy. Wings are also top notch. Service is very fast and the establishment is clean. Definite recommend!

Last week i called 10 times, and nobody answer?? What kind of service is this? This place used to be good to enjoy however now There are many more better pizza places in LA with better service and lower prices. Over price pizzeria, and the inside sitting area not as good. I'll avoid this place next time I'm craving pizza.

Too expensive for an average slice. Doesn't seem like real NY Pizza either Most NY pizza in LA is awful so this one at least somewhat satisfies a craving

Though I still drive through Westwood at times, the parking situation is so bad that I haven't had a slice here in about 3 years. I found parking recently. In 1980, John Lamonica opened Lamonica's NY Pizza in Westwood. He brought the dough in from New York for 11 years. Then in 1991, John started making the pizza dough for Costco and other retailers on the West Coast. Lamonica's Pizza Dough Co. has two locations, one on the West Coast in Vernon, Calif., and the other on the East Coast based in Brooklyn, N.Y. I now think John is too busy with the dough gold mine to mind his one and only restaurant. The regular cheese slice and the Sicilian slice used to be great. Now they're both dense, seemingly only brief fermentation and over baked. The kids doing the baking look like they're 18 and want to be someplace else. All well, you still got that Costco dough business. And the pizza slice at Costco is better than your place!

Pretty classic NY style pizza place. No frills, slightly quirky. Pizza by the slice for ~$5. Solid pizza. More than passable for a quick bite.

Garlic knots are great. Pizza is really good, but I think it's a bit overpriced. I brought a New Yorker here once, and he felt it was very authentically NY style pizza.

I ordered here for the first time delivery to my house. I have to say I was disappointed. My friend hyped this place up so much, and although they do have good dough I just felt like first, for a $30 order there should have been more cheese on the pizza but I could have forgone that issue had it not been for the fact that the pizza delivery was cold. Not even lukewarm warm, but cold. To me, it's just unacceptable to deliver cold food, especially to a first time customer. I would have given one star but I give credit to how nice the girl who took the order was and the fact that the delivery included plenty of Parmesan and Chili flakes. Sorry, I was really rooting for you guys cause the crust was thin how I like it and flavors were good.

As close as you're going to get to NYC pizza on the West Coast of the USA. Probably not a fresh take if you go look at the other reviews here but it's true. Whatever Lamonicas does (on top of importing the dough) they do it right and they get the taste of NYC perfectly. I used to work around this area so a visit to Lamonicas once a week was usually in order. It was cheap, it was fast, it was greasy, and decadent. What more do you want? Personally I was a big fan of their Sicilian slices but you couldn't really go wrong. Sometimes it's a bit packed in here for lunch given the proximity to UCLA but if you time your visit outside of core hours it's no problem. I recently visited again after a long time not having a slice here and it was still just as good as it used to be. Bravo!

Pizza by the slice. Slices are warmed upon ordering. Whole Foods next door also has pizza by the slice so depending on the type and deal it could be cheaper and fresher here!

Still my favorite pizza place in LA but hadnt been here for a while ! I just made it there before closing and they still had 4-5 varieties to pick from . Parking was fairly easy this time and staff was friendly - hope to be back soon !

Good pizza with cool ambiance in the middle of UCLA's Westwood. Pizza was served by the slice and reminded me of pizza from New York.

The last three times I was in here the pizza was overcooked and terrible. I went back in again to see if the cook had changed but it was still the same woman who burnt my pizza the last three times. Will not return. Too bad they let this place go. Now I have to go to silver lake to get a pizza of the quality this used to be.

Good pizza, but a little bit on the doughy side for a proper NY slice. Best to order your pie well-done. The people are really nice and it feels like the kind of place you end up in Manhattan at 2am - which is very much a feature, not a flaw. It's a little bit on the pricey side, but I wouldn't hesitate to visit if I'm in the area. A-/B+ pizza joint.

Not a hot take, but Lamonica's is amazing. Every bite is absolutely invigorating. Right off the bat, the pizza is steaming hot - so fresh. As it should be right? You'd be surprised at how other pizzerias miss on the freshness. I couldn't wait to get into it, and when I opened the box I was treated to a massive helping of the topping I ordered. It feels really nice to see that value. The NY style pizza passes every test. Crispy crunchy crust married to a floppy triangular perfection. The mouth feel is wonderful and satisfying. The sauce is great, cheese is great, topping was fresh....loved this pizza. Parking in Westwood is tough. When I went there was a premiere at one of the theaters and it made parking + driving a little extra complicated. If you can walk I recommend that. Amazing pizza. Better than some pizza in NYC. Legit through and through.

I used to come here for the large pizza deals in college. The cheese pizza is perfectly made and can be easily frozen and reheated for a quick meal. This is the best NYC pizza I've found in la. I have only gotten toppings twice - pretty expensive, but good quality. Cheese pizza is a solid go to.

The pizza was delicious. From the amazing crust to the huge portions of toppings it's an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend others try it.

We tried the Barbecue Chicken and Cheese and they were both BOMB . Service is very welcoming! They seem proud of the place and we felt that vibe. This is your pizza slice craving spot in Westwood Village. Pro Tip: Parking will be mixed, depending on what time of day. If you can walk there, do so!

I really enjoyed the this place. Not only is their pizza selection great but all of the ones I've tried have been very tasty. Both times I've visited, the sitting has been ample and the tables have been clean. I've also had good service with each visit. The staff is friendly and very much concerned with the costumers having a good experience.

I love this pizza. My family loves this pizza. Only con is the parking. I promise the food and the staff make up for the headache you get from the parking. Lamonicas is so good that they have garlic powder for the pizza in addition to their BOMB parmesan cheese and chili flakes.

The best pizza. The pizza dough comes from New York City, made with New York City water. The crust is amazing, the toppings are delicious. If you love pizza, go here. If you don't love pizza, "what's wrong with you!?!" Lol.

Popped in for a quick snack and ordered their pepperoni pizza by the slice, says $4.50 but after tax came out to $5.35; The pizza was SO good. Kinda pricey just for a slice though IMO but very tasty and I loved how crispy the crust was and there were lots of pepperonis. Service was also very friendly and quick. Tastewise, spot on to how pizza by the slice was when I visited Mahattan and Brooklyn-- size wise, nothing special. However I would definitely come back for a full sized pizza.

Friendly people and good tasting pizzawith a crispy crust, but the. Slices are way too small. Pizza by the slice should be a large foldable slice. I couldn't get a fold on mine it was so small. You'd think they'd at least have a two slice special or something if they're going to be so little.

The sausage slice is as fab as the meatball one. How do they heat up a slice so fast? I don't like chicken bbq pizza but the just out of the over pie had tons of topping piled on. Service was adequate this time but the consistently amazing pizza is what brings me back!

I've heard of this place but never had the opportunity to stop by. Deep Dish pizza was great. I can safely save one of the best pizza I've had in quite some time. Service was very quick and all the staff was really nice. Everyone made me feel welcome. I would come here again next time in on the West Side of Los Angeles.

Delicious Pizza & friendly staff! Classic NY slices right by Santa Monica Cheese Pizza

Thin crispy crust was great. Greasy meaty slice hits the spot. Just not as large a slice as I expected. More like average size, not NYC size.

After being spoiled during my time living in Brooklyn, I finally found a great NY style pie in Los Angeles! It's my go-to delivery when I have friends over and they always ask where it's from. The ranch is also a perfect rich dipping companion.

The pizza tasted good, but would I come back? NOPE, mainly because of the staff & service. I ordered ahead for pickup, was told it would be ready in 30 minutes, drove 30 min to get there, only to wait almost an additional hour and still didn't get everything we ordered. I get that they were swamped, but there was clearly a mix-up between the staff and kitchen, and they even charged us for items they didn't have. Hardly any communication, and it felt like they were avoiding me whenever I tried to follow up with my order. Finally, an employee admitted they couldn't complete our order and offered a partial refund which is FINE, but wish they had told us upfront instead of the unnecessary wait. I did enjoy the pizza though!

Best pizza place in Westwood! My girlfriend and I often come to Lamonica's because it's so good. Some notable foods: - the italian sausage slices - cheese slices - Garlic and nutella knots - buffalo chicken wings Everything here tastes great and the prices aren't too bad for the huge slices they give. Service is really great as everyone is always really friendly and it definitely feels like everyone there is family. I will be coming back again! Note that tables inside might be limited.

One of the best slices I've had in awhile. I came here with my boyfriend and sister and we ordered: -cheese slice -buffalo wings -pepperoni slice -sausage slice The pizza was so delicious! The wings had a generous amount of sauce but we wished they were a bit more crispy. We came a half hour before closing so they were out of a few items, I definitely want to try their knots next. The staff was so so friendly. I will definitely come again!

Had pizza here for ages, and I miss the deals of the past like for lunch. The biggest line is obviously when the pizza is crazy cheap on the anniversary day. They don't do pi day deals anymore. Also, a bit annoyed by the extra charge for credit card. However, the pizza still tastes great, and the staff is very friendly. My go-to is now the Calzone for which you can add 4 "toppings" (yeah I know it is inside) for about $11 if paying by credit. For the pizza, I like the chicken options like the bbq. Have heard the garlic and Nutella knots are good though I never tried them myself.

I've come here for close to 15 years and never had a problem until today. After spending $70 and driving here for almost an hour to get here, they refused me to use the restroom. The manager is extremely rude and doesn't care for customers.

Decent NY style pizza in Westwood that is kinda cheap (for todays standards!) it was like $50 dollars for an 18 inch pizza, wings, garlic rolls, Nutella knots. That's a lot of food for $50!

Best pizza I have ever had. The crust was perfectly cooked and crispy, the cheese wasn't runny or messy, a perfectly balanced sauce. Everything about this pizza was really great. And the 18 inch is way bigger than I thought it would be. Before we knew it we had eaten all but one slice of it! Couldn't get enough!!

Very delicious pizza. We tried Hawaiian, pepperoni and cheese pizza. Everything was so yummy! Amazing flavor and thin crust. Only downside is no restroom to use.

The owner of this place is a rageaholic and the pizza is nothing special. They also make the pizza dough for Costco.

This is the best pizza place ever I haven't been to no New York but, so far this is the best pizza ever no joke!! We drive all the way from Orange County to Santa Monica just for the pizza. We also love the guys behind the counter, Customer service is great.

Lamonica's pizza is great for a quick slice. It's kind of like New York Pizza, and that makes it better than a lot of LA pizza, but still not the same as you'd get in Manhattan. I do like the crust and how it looks like a subway station - but it's a little pricey for what it is and maybe I'm super critical when it comes to pizza. Definitely a college spot - the fact that you have to pay for parking if you're not just in Westwood docks it a bit. Solid. I looove Lamonica's! I live 45 min away and will still drive all the way out just to have a slice of their pizza!! I got a slice of the mushroom and veggie pizza. Both were fantastic! I love their New York style crust. Literally so crunchy! They also have Detroit styled slices which are also super delicious! The interior of the restaurant is such a cool vibe. Everything is New York themed and they even have TVs with a slide show shuffling through pictures of the subway. Their by the slice menu is always rotating and I love coming back to see what else I can try! Definitely one of the best pizza places in the LA area!

Again I'm saying it, being a born and raised New Yorker in Los Angeles is tough when it comes to the search for good pizza. But after learning of this place a few days ago, oddly enough living near by, I came in today. Now I asked if they had zeppoles and the kids working behind the counter all looked at me as if I was speaking a different language. One even said no other New Yorker asked that before. Very strange. But LA pizzerias aren't true to our New York culture. My fiancé and I ordered a few different slices and a calzone. I will admit it, and for the record it does hurt me to admit this haha but their pizza is delicious! I didn't like the customer service very much for darn it I'll be back for the food. Their not my favorite Los Angeles wanna be New York spot but their already top five. My family and I will be back and I do recommend for a really good slice. But don't ask for zeppoles, their not real like that.

I know pizza. This is the best pizza in LA. I vouch for the mushroom and olive slices. Been eating here since college and have always had a great experience.

The food was soooo tasty. The Lady who helped us was so friendly. I also liked the decoration. It was old and authentic.

A decent slice, but far from being an authentic NY slice. It's significantly more expensive (which is totally fine given their location) and the slices are probably only 2/3 of what you'd get in NY so unlike NY slices, it doesn't offer the same value for money. That being said, it's a quick, hot, decent slice that you can grab relatively late at night (I think they close at 10pm).
