The 13 Best New Restaurants in Orlando Right Now

"The restaurant’s playful name pays homage to the longstanding lamp store that occupied the space since the 1960s, so no surprise lighting is a central focus of this Mills 50 hotspot’s interior design. So is artist Sumner Mormeneo’s throwback mural, as visual a feast as chef Ryan Stewart’s Asian-influenced tapas fare. His squid-ink squid, charred baby bok choy, and Caesar salad bites are worth the trip alone. The sizeable bar is yet another focal point in a restaurant full of focal points." - Faiyaz Kara

We had so much fun! Chef Ryan Stewart and our server Alvin were an absolute pleasure. The decor was phenomenal. Definitely felt like we were transported into the whimsical but classy world of Lamp and Shade. So the food, wow! I am vegetarian and my friends are not but we all enjoyed every single dish! Literally not a bite was left. Chef Ryan Stewart is a culinary genius. The details from the crispy garnishes to the indulgent sauces complimented the dishes so well. The pacing at which Alvin and his team brought out the dishes was perfect because we got to enjoy everything without feeling overbearing. I had a lychee cocktail that I am still salivating over. Super fragrant and smooth. Kudos to the bartender! 10/10 recommend for a very pleasant and delicious night out or early date. Thank you Lamp & Shade team for an awesome birthday!

Avery was our waitress and she is a gem! She made our experience wonderful so definitely keep her around. The food was excellent and the vibe of the place was great! Will definitely be back!! Thanks Avery for taking care of us on our girls night out!!

We had a great time at Lamp & Shade just recently. The dishes were quite ingenious, delicious and well portioned. The cocktails were also very tasty, although not as quite memorable as the food. The ambience was lively and even though it wasn’t a busy night, the vibe was very pleasant. The staff were friendly and took very good care of us. The only disappointment is the “service charge 20% applied to all checks” which, even though it was disclosed, it’s nothing but a money grab. Considering the great experience we had, I would have happily conceded a 20% gratuity anyways but, why force all customers to do it?

Absolutely loved my experience at Lamp & Shade Craft Kitchen and Cocktails. The food was top-tier — beautifully presented and full of flavor. Every dish felt like a piece of art, and you could tell the chefs care about both taste and presentation. The service was solid and professional, though a small step behind the food in terms of that wow factor. What really stood out was the atmosphere — cozy, modern, and just the right vibe for a date night or a chill night out with friends. Highly recommend trying their oysters and any of the chef specials. Dined in, and I’ll definitely be coming back.

From the industrial-art deco chic decor to the beautiful dishes to the antique book check holders, every moment at Lamp & Shade Kitchen is punctuated by comfort and style. Our experience here edges out several other Michelin rated restaurants in terms of service, ambiance, and food—both quality and creativity. Every dish we tried was perfectly executed and generously portioned. We started with mocktails, two hot plates, and two cold plates. Everything came out pretty quickly, and finished plates were also cleared away without sitting long. We had mushroom risotto and skirt steak for entrees, and the portions were so big that we had leftovers (we almost never have leftovers, especially not from small plates-style places). The flavors, preparation, temperature, and plating were all perfect. We finished with two desserts that were just as good as the rest of the food, which is pretty impressive as many places with fantastic food have mediocre dessert. All of the staff we interacted with, including our waiter, were very kind and made sure we had everything we needed. They pointed out the 20% gratuity and starred it on our check, which was appreciated. We went early in the evening and were able to get parking spots close by, but it would be definitely worth arriving early if you have a later reservation to make sure you find somewhere to park. All in all, this restaurant instantly became a top 3 favorite in all of Orlando for us. Can’t wait to go back again soon!

Every single dish was delicious. Best to bring more than 2 people because sharing is caring and you get to try more offerings. The Spicy Rigatoni with Lump Crab is my absolute favorite. Will definitely be back with more friends to spread goodness.

The vegan options are beyond on point! We had the vegan crab cakes, which the seasoning made it taste better than more crab cakes. The plantain pancakes are a must for vegans and non vegans. Best vegan pancakes I have had. We got mocktails as well and they complimented all the dishes so well. Loved everything! Everyone was so nice. Tatiana was attentive and connected with us. The place is definitely a vibe.

We had a fantastic experience! The service, food, and atmosphere were all top-notch. Charlie was our server and she was amazing friendly, attentive, and really made us feel welcome. Everything came out perfectly, and she made sure we were well taken care of the whole time. Highly recommend, and we’ll definitely be back. Thank you, Charlie!

Yelp
OUTSTANDING! It's been a while since I've been to a dinner where I was thoroughly impressed by EVERYTHING. This place is amazing! Upon entry the location is very trendy and sets a great vibe for a date night or a get together with the girls (which is what I was there for) and it was perfect. Our table a mix of items including dumplings, sushi squared, shiitake risotto, spicy rigatoni, burrata cheese, shrimp lettuce wraps and the Caesar bites. My top favorite was the spicy rigatoni! Although all the dishes were phenomenal my least favorite may have been the ceasar bites but only because I felt they were a bit on the saltier end (although still very good). For drinks I ordered the silk and emerald which was a very different cocktail than ones I've ever tried before. It had matcha and coconut milk in it, I'm not sure if it was a favorite of mine but it was definitely different. For dessert we ordered the ube cheesecake and the coffee creme brûlée, both were so wonderfully made and melted in your mouth! Shout out to our waitress Tauto she was very sweet and knowledgeable of the menu. She made sure we were taken care of. We'll definitely be back! Side note: some of the pictures of the food are already eaten... it was just too good we couldnt wait!

Yelp
I am so happy to have tried this restaurant as I always pass it on the way to work. It's very spacious inside with wonderful lighting and decor. The menu is small but everything looked delicious! We opted for risotto, tartare, duck, and short ribs. Nothing disappointed! The plating was beautiful and I like how things came out as they were ready. My favorite was the tartare and risotto, but the gochujang butter that came with the duck also surprised me. I also thought the light bulb scale of strength for the cocktail menu was charming and helpful. Definitely be prepared to spend some money to get full, but it's totally worth it for the atmosphere and wonderful food!

Yelp
Recently got the chance to visit Lamp & Shade in Orlando and let me tell you the ambiance in this place is like no other! Super cool space and a DJ on weekends (visited Saturday evening). When I checked online there were no reservations available but we walked in and got seated right away at the bar. We tried some tapas and drinks and here is what I think: Definitely order the Caesar Salad Bites these were 10/10. The Korean garlic bread was also very tasty! The LA Short Ribs missed the mark for me the meat was too fatty and I was not a fan. We also ordered the Sushi Squared and this wasn't bad if you are into raw sushi! Desserts were phenomenal - we had the Ube cheesecake and the Coffee Crème Brûlée and both of these I would order again. The cheesecake was tasty not too ube flavored but super creamy and rich. The crème brûlée was so good you can def taste the coffee in it which I loved! As far as drinks I had an expresso martini and the Morning micro dose - both coffee based drinks. I preferred the traditional expresso martini as the other one had a little too much going on for me. Overall I enjoyed this place but I do wish they had more tapas style protein options available. They had a shrimp lettuce wrap but I just wish there was a little more variety of meats available in smaller style dishes to share and try!

Yelp
What an absolutely incredible restaurant! From the tapas style & shareable plates, to the Eastern influence in each of their items, everything was absolute perfection! Small plates but definitely shareable. We ordered two small plates first and then shared a noodle dish, split a mocktail and split dessert- it was the right amount for two adults. When you order the food is made to order, so it comes out when it's ready. I love the fresh and not sitting food idea. We ordered the Sushi Squared, Squid Ink Calamari and Egg Noodles for our meal. The Coconut Mocktail was good- too much ice so it was only a few ounces of liquid but the flavor was on par and awesome! Pass Sushi squared and the best bluefin tuna I've had in a long time! Perfectly Placed on the nori square, rice, aioli, micro greens and radish slices were excellent. Don't let this one sit too long because the nori gets soft from the rice and then trying to bite it in a classy manner doesn't happen. At. All. The squid ink calamari was perfectly fried. Not oily at all. Crispy to the point of crunch when you chewed and so flavorful I wanted to keep eating it. The slightly spicy sauce was a nice touch to balance the umami calamari bites. Lastly dinner item was the egg noodles that were the star of the show! My boyfriend doesn't like mushrooms but obliged for my birthday. He LOVED the dish. Creamy. Decadent. Truffle flavor but not over powering. And the "bacon" shiitakes were so crunchy and Smokey they made him think it was bacon. Get the Egg Noodles. Oh and ask for an extra cured yolk- splitting one is tough and you'll want your own. Believe me. We rounded out the meal with a slice of Ube cheesecake which was balanced and not too sweet and not too sour. The shortbread crumbles and crust were a nice flavor profile to add to the cheesecake and the meringues were excellent too.

Yelp
Delightful and quirky decor! Lamp lounge wall mural. Funky squirrel wallpaper. Lots of servers bringing you / taking orders. We tried nearly everything on the lil menu. Everyone was pretty pleased. My favorites were the Beet salad was beautiful and yummy, Cesar salad bites were delicious. Mushroom dumplings were quite flavorful.

Yelp
Lamp and Shade lures guests with its lounge-y vibe and contemporary design, and it's easy to see why people are drawn here. However, I'm giving it 4 stars because, while it's a solid choice for ambiance, food, and service, the plates (you can choose from hot or cold) are quite small for the price, and the lighting could be cozier -- less lamp, more shade, in my opinion. - Bluefin Tartare: The horseradish avocado aioli and lotus chips were unique and made this dish stand out. - Squid Ink Calamari: This was my first time trying squid ink in the crust, and I was pleasantly surprised. The accompanying red sauce, with sesame seeds and a good amount of spice, made me think it would pair well with white rice. Even though it wasn't on the menu, I ordered a side, and I was right! Our server was very attentive, fast, and knowledgeable. He suggested adding the green curry sauce to my side of white rice, which turned out to be an excellent call. Valet parking at such a busy spot was a nice touch!

Yelp
Our experience at Lamp & Shade was nothing short of incredible! The service is top tier, I knew it was going to be excellent the moment they sat us down at a high-top table and offered me a purse hook. All of the food we order absolutely stunned me. Even though the prices for tapa-sized plates are quite high, the elevated dishes are worth every penny. We started with a half dozen raw oysters, and the vinaigrette/sauce it comes with has my mouth watering as I type this review. I could have drank the sauce alone, but the oysters were so fresh and delicious, and I loved the charred lemon they are served with. Since happy hour was wrapping up, we ordered the Korean garlic bread, which was fluffy and slightly sweet and so delicious. The sushi squared had huge pieces of fresh crab and tasted so refreshing. The absolutely star of the dinner was the sirloin cap, cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. But, oh, when you add in that crunchy, flakey salt and to-die-for garlic butter..... oh my gosh you'll never want to have a steak any other way ever again. I almost forgot to talk about the cocktails!! If you're coming to Lamp & Shade and not ordering a signature cocktail then you're doing it wrong. I ordered the Silk and Emeralds and it was the best cocktail I've ever had. It was so unique and I've never had anything like it. So if I haven't convinced you to book a reservation for Lamp & Shade yet, just go ahead and do that now and thank me later!!!

Yelp
We were looking for a brunch spot to try with some friends who were in town for the holidays and I suggested Lamp & Shade since none of us had tried their brunch before. Everything on the menu sounded really interesting and delicious, so we decided to give it a go. We didn't have a reservation, but the 4 of us (plus a baby) were able to snag a lounge spot by the Christmas tree. I loved the holiday vibes they had going on and that they also had some holiday special menu items. We started with some drinks and I got the ube coquito which was phenomenal. I wish I could get this year round! My friends got "Let's be Clear" which was their unique take on a bloody mary and the "Heart of the Dragon" which had more of a tiki vibe. We all decided that we just wanted to order a few plates to share, so we got the deviled eggs, duck dumplings, breakfast sandwich, plantain pancakes, and crispy rice. Literally every dish was so good. The deviled eggs are probably the best I've ever had. They brûlée the yolk and it's just pure magic in your mouth. I'm usually not a pancake person, but I really enjoyed the plantain twist. I was probably most surprised by how good the breakfast sandwich was. It sounded fairly simple, but the flavors paired with the chipotle aioli on it was delish! Needless to say, we'll definitely be back for brunch soon!

Yelp
I've been a couple times for drinks but this was my first time having dinner. I love the ambience with all the quirky furniture and art, it's very open and unique. We got a bunch of dishes to share and everything was wonderful but we especially loved the Caesar salad bites (they totally live up to the hype) and the burrata (the sauce was sweet and complimented the dish well.) The server made some great recommendations and the food came out sporadically. The drinks were a bit slow and although we loved the dirty martini, we did not love the spicy margarita.

Yelp
The food was amazing. It's tapa style and the portions are shareable. We had the potatoes, calamari, and mussels. Food was A1. Our server was Alvin, as he describes it, like Alvin and the Chipmunks. He was so helpful and thorough with the menu and we had some amazing options. The ambiance is nice and open with not only bar tables and dining tables, but they have patio-style tables/chair which is really cute. I will be back.

Geeg S.

Yelp
Food is tapas style- order several and share. The menu changes weekly so try everything. The service is great - people are friendly. The food comes out as soon as it's ready. The ambiance is fun! For seating, I love the couches that can be casual style sitting around a smaller table. The high tops are like bar-style seating with high top tables. It's quite noisy so be ready to speak up. Finish your night with lampshade pictures by the bathroom. Be aware of parking. Valet is free so tip nicely. Finding parking will be challenging. Overall it's become one of my favorite spots on Mills.

Yelp
If you want to impress someone bring them to lamp and shade! Everything about the interior was so clean cut and fun to look at. We order the skirt steak with grilled broccolini & the stone fried rice with shrimp. The steak came with an amazing butter that paired so well with it. We also ordered a few drinks (not pictured) and they were very unique cocktails but made well. I definitely can't wait to come back again soon!

Yelp
Finally got a chance to try this lovely gem and it did not disappoint. I ordered the green curry mussels and black ink calamari. Portions are tapas style so it's best to order two to three plates at a time. The service was fabulous, even the valet guys were extremely nice. The vibes and ambiance is exactly what you leave your house for. Perfect for a nice girls night or date with your special person!

Yelp
My husband brought me to Lamp & Shade for my birthday & it was a nice vibe . The DJ was jamming and the place was packed. We had a reservation and were seated shortly after arriving. We ordered a few food Items & drinks. For food we got the L.A. SHORT RIBS, HASSELBACK POTATOES, & street corn . For drinks we ordered the UNDER THE SAME SUN, SUNDAY STAPLE, & SILK AND EMERALDS. Everything was delicious!! The customer service was Amazing our waitress was very informative & attentive. The food is tapas style so to get full you may want to order 3-4 items per person . I would def come back here . The ambience is beautiful. The lamp shade props for pics were nice

Yelp
The food and service and ambience was all a 10 out of 10. This is now one of my top three restaurant picks in Orlando. The squid ink calamari was my favorite and I will definitely be coming back soon to get more!

Yelp
Love love love this place! The vibe is awesome- great music bumping on a Friday night, fun atmosphere, beautiful interior and awesome seating areas and outdoor space to hang and get drinks. The food is phenomenal! Spicy rigatoni was so good I prefer an extra to take home! Hassleback potatoes were a hit - so much flavor! The Caesar bites were bomb!! So damn good! The mocktails were also great! Perfect girls night out, or date spot! Can't wait to go back. Also they have complimentary valet

Yelp
Located near the intersection of Mills Ave. and Virginia Drive (right next to the 7-Eleven), Lamp & Shade is easy to miss. Lamp & Shade is named so as an homage of what the space used to be: The Lamp Shade Fair. Parking is not an easy feat, so my friend and I opted for the complimentary valet service. While we had reservations, it took 45 minutes to get seated and we opted for a high top as our reserved seating was not available (to no fault of the establishment). The rest of our experience was great. Lamp and Shade is a tapas-style restaurant with a Japanese spin on menu items. I ordered the purple sweet potato dumplings, hasselback potatoes, burrata cheese and corn ribs. All were good, but my favorite was the burrata cheese followed by the hasselback potatoes. My friend ordered the heirloom carrots, sushi squared, Jack's crispy rice and the L.A. short ribs. She liked all of her dishes as well but especially loved the carrots. We loved the kitschy decor and the service was great. The prices of the dishes were a little high, but so was the food quality. We both said that we would definitely come back another time to try the other offerings.

Yelp
What a great night and experience! My friend recommended we try this place as she was here a few weeks back. I told her I read a number of good reviews on Yelp so let's give it a go. Lamp and Shade has a fantastic vibe (it was an old lamp store) and based on my friend's comment that this place is always packed, I would agree. We came on a Saturday night and were on an Open Table waitlist for a reservation. At 4pm. I received a text from Open Table stating there was an opening at 7:30. I tried to book it, but received a message stating their "server" could not connect and to try later". I was never able to confirm the reservation. The Lamp and Shade website stated no reservations available. (Like I said above, this place is popular!) We went anyway and decided to wait for a table while having a drink. The hostess was so nice and accommodating when I explained the Open Table issue that she was able to get us a table within 30 minutes. Kudos to Lamp and Shade. We had the most amazing waiter, Alvin! He was so much fun and entertaining while explaining some of his favorites on the menu and answering all of our questions. He came back regularly but also knew when to give us space. Five stars for him alone. The items we selected were fantastic. Alvin said the Caesar Salad Bites were a "staple" and patrons come back specifically for them. The dish comes with 5 bite size delectable, toasted brioche bread squares with a delicious Caesar salad mixture on top. You need to start off with this item! it is that good and quite unique. Amazing flavor for a small bite. We added the Hasselback Potatoes (finger potatoes sliced with herb aioli, truffle oil, and parmesan). Be sure to dip them in the sauce underneath to get the flavorful experience of this item. We also selected the Curry Mussels and there were a lot of them in the order. The green coconut curry was just the right amount of zing that danced on your taste buds. Use the charred bread that comes with it to dip into the curry sauce. Heaven! The drinks we had consisted of the Bee's Knees (gin, honey and lemon) which was delicious but rather a small portion for $13) and the El Diablo (tequila, creme de cassis, lime and fever tree ginger also for $13). Both were very good. The last thing I wanted to point out is the automatic 20 percent tip they put on the bill. Alvin noted this required tip when he provided us the bill. (The bill comes in an old book, and you can write comments in the book if you so choose. Really cool!) I added an additional tip for his service and thanked him for pointing this out. I was not so lucky at the bar when we arrived. Once I received a text that our table was ready, I requested the check and immediately put a 25 percent tip on the receipt. It wasn't until the next morning when I checked that bill that I realized I paid over $13 in a tip for two drinks due to the 20% add-on! My recommendation to management - please have ALL your staff be consistent in pointing this out. I appreciated Alvin's attention to this detail. Although this mishap at the bar did not diminish my overall 5-star review, it sure did not make me happy once I checked the bill the next morning.

Yelp
I stopped by Lamp & Shade on a Friday night to check out the new spot, and I'm so glad I did! They offer valet parking, but we opted to park about a block away in the Fresh Market lot, which worked out just fine. The space itself is really impressive! We were seated in comfortable lounge chairs, but they also have regular tables and bar seating available. The drink selection is fantastic, with plenty of unique options. Our server was super friendly and even gave us some great recommendations, which was much appreciated. A DJ was spinning, adding a fun, lively vibe to the place, making it feel like the perfect spot for a night out. Overall, Lamp & Shade is definitely worth checking out. I'll be back for sure!

Yelp
Lamp and Shade by Chef Ryan Stuart is a true gem! I've had the pleasure of dining here for both dinner and brunch, and each experience has been fantastic. The food is consistently delicious, with each dish perfectly crafted and presented with care. The flavors are creative and well-balanced, showcasing Chef Ryan's expertise. The cocktails are just as impressive, beautifully made and complement the food wonderfully. The ambiance is cozy yet upscale, making it a perfect spot for any occasion. Highly recommend Lamp and Shade if you're looking for a memorable dining experience in Orlando!

Yelp
I recently dined at Lamp & Shade, and while the experience was pleasant, I felt it didn't quite live up to the prices. The presentation was incredible - a solid 10/10. However, the flavors left something to be desired. The noodles were the biggest letdown, tasting like plain boiled noodles with nothing but overwhelming spice - no salt or balance, just intense heat. I also tried the fried rice, which, for the price, I expected to be more elevated. Instead, it tasted no different than what you'd get at a low-cost Chinese restaurant. Overall, we had a good time, but for the price point, I expected a lot more in terms of flavor.

Yelp
The Lamp & Shade is located in Orlando's vibrant Mills 50 district. Its inviting atmosphere, complete with a variety of seating option makes it an ideal spot for gatherings. There's also an outdoor area with convenient access to the bar. We chose to sit inside at the bar, the bartender was attentive and offered excellent recommendations. While the food looked and smelled delicious, our focus was on the cocktails--and they did not disappoint. We look forward to checking out their happy hour and brunch. Cheers!

Yelp
Went for happy hour with my husband and 1 year old. We had a great time! My husband liked his martini. The El Diablo cocktail was awesome. The short ribs were tasty, but my fave was the Caesar salad bites. I also liked that caviar was on the HH menu. I was able to try it for a great price, without fully committing lol. The bread was great too. I loved the interior. They had awesome lighting for pics too, while still seeming intimate

Yelp
Now due to my previous review, I'm not a huge fan of the food at lamp and shade. However, I did enjoy branching out and trying some of their new cocktails. There will be a cookie to cocktail was amazing. They're not a cocktail is really good even though I had way too much ice but I really loved it there daiquiri that's probably what I fell in love with the most. I did get to sit at the bar and service was very quick and precise. I didn't have any issues.

Yelp
I came here for a friend's birthday dinner. The Espresso Martini is good here and I should've started with that instead of getting the Buried in Pearls. The drinks are strong and tasty. Trust your instincts on the notes/flavors you like. The oysters were not worth the price for me. I think I just got excited and wanted them. They were fresh but kinda... bland. The Squid Ink Calamari were SO GOOD! The color threw some people off but it tastes amazing! I would come back just for this dish. The Sushi Squared was satisfactory, nothing to write home about. Dumplings (purple sweet potato) were very delicious! I like that there are a good amount of vegan options. This is a dish I would reorder and I'm partial to meat dishes. Stone Fried Rice was definitely a shareable portion. It was good. Maybe I would've liked it better with shrimp or if I had some of the runny egg over the rice. I didn't have any egg, which was my wrong choice. Things at the table that I didn't try but people raved about: -Hasselback Potatoes -LA Short Ribs -Caesar Salad Bites

Yelp
The reviews and pictures online made us want to try this restaurant, so we went one day for brunch. It started out well, but quickly went downhill. The restaurant is very cool and the staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered cold brew coffees with cream, which were hand crafted and shaken by the bartenders. We ordered the crispy rice for an appetizer and really enjoyed it, although we both wished the cream cheese was flavored. They top each bite with a fried caper and we wondered what it would taste like if they blended the capers, a little soy, and some lemon into the cream cheese. It really needed something to break up the monotony. Then we ordered the eggs benedict and the king crab and grits. They have a policy where they bring out the food as it is ready instead of bringing it out all together. They brought out my husband's eggs benedict first. He didn't want to eat without me, but our server assured us that my dish would be out soon. He didn't like it at all. The mushrooms were under seasoned and gave the dish had an earthy, dull taste. 15 minutes later, they finally brought my dish. By this time my husband had finished his breakfast and his plate had been cleared from the table. The server apologized but it was awkward. I was really hoping to enjoy the crab and grits and was expecting delicate king crab meat like I saw in some of the pictures. Instead, my crab was feathery and greasy. I couldn't tell if they microwaved it or cooked it on the flat top with butter but a lot of the crab had crusty hard bits. Finally, they brought out our check but the prices didn't match the menu. I alerted them to this and they quickly fixed it, but by that time, I was already annoyed. I know, I'm probably just being picky. You can tell these guys take a lot of pride in what they are doing. I'm sure this less than perfect dining experience was a fluke. A lot of people seem to really like Lamp & Shade, but it just fell flat for us.

Yelp
We love this place for the location, friendly service, tiki cocktails and delicious shareable tapas-style apps and entrees. We have dined twice and tried different drinks and dishes each time. The drink menu does indicate alcohol level... pretty useful if you plan to have multiple. I have loved Afterglow and Silk and Emeralds. Because I am a bit hard of hearing, I struggled with the noise level, but when I sat in a booth on the periphery it wasn't an issue. There isn't really a good way to buffer the sound in that style building, which is completely open with very high ceilings. This place is an easy last-minute date night option for those of us who live close by!

Yelp
If you are like me then I'm sure you are trying to stay on top of the new and upcoming places popping up in the Central FL area. There are so many things surprising us with their ambiance and Lamp & Shade is one of them Pictured Are: Chicken & Waffle / Was good, had a sauce on it that was a little spicy and tad sweet with the syrup but overall good flavor Heart of Palm Crab Cakes / we didn't realize it was heart of Palm even though it says it right in the name (lol). I wish the server would have said something BUT it was of no fault of his because it says it in the name. Definitely our fault. Was not a fan...AT ALL Oyster Rockefeller / Good flavor but would I order it again....probably not. Morning Micro-dose Cocktail / Best thing I had there and honestly would go back for it. Delicious! Overall, would I go back? MAYBE....for dinner or Happy Hour. The drinks were better than the food and the music was EVERYTHING. They played a lot of old school funk and r&b...and the service was top tier. Anyways don't take my word for it. Try it on your own and lmk what your favorites were

Yelp
What a cool place! The ambiance is very unique and a large space with nice booths, tables, and bar area. The menu is definitely shared plate style so recommend going with a group to try a lot of different items! We went for happy hour which they have 4-6 Monday - Friday with discounts on cocktails and certain apps. The servers were very attentive and felt like there was a lot of staff in completing different tasks and cleaning up the table as we finished different plates. The mix of flavors in the dishes is very unique and I'm excited to go back and try more!

Yelp
Brunch review. My friend and I sat at the bar during prime brunch time. Even though it was busy, we were able to snag two seats at the bar. The bar staff was super nice and made really good cocktails. Espresso martini, Yummo! The food was also amazing! A must try.

Yelp
We visited lamp & shade on a Saturday night around 4pm. We were seated fairly quickly, and ordered some plates to share. We got the squid ink squid, spicy noodles, sushi squared, dumplings, and some oysters. Everything came out pretty quickly. The oysters were east coast, not gulf, so that was nice. The oysters were fresh and the mignonette was nice. I loved having the charred lemon too, it was a great touch that I'd never seen before. As far as the actual meal goes, some of the food fell a little flat. The dumplings were fine, and so was the sushi squared. I wish it had been served with some wasabi and ginger. The noodles were pretty good, although I think they could've used more peanut. The highlight of the night was definitely the squid. This stuff was crispy and tender and perfectly done, but the sauce took it the extra mile. We ended up getting extra sauce because it was so good. Overall, I can't say I'd go out of my way to return to lamp and shade. It felt overpriced, and the quality and portion didn't warrant that dollar value. That being said, the atmosphere in there is cool. We didn't love the super deep couches that we were on because they didn't encourage good eating posture, but the place was well decorated and had a very unique look to it.

Yelp
Very nice place for tapas, unique food and drinks. Our server was excellent. The environment was very comfortable, not too loud, or crowded. The food was great and we enjoyed the signature cocktails.

Yelp
I finally got around to checking out Lamp & Shade with a friend. We visited on a Tuesday night and the restaurant was a lot busier than I would have expected. We sat at a table near the window but there's plenty of lounge seating and bar seats. They have a special cocktail menu for Halloween, how cute. All of the drinks look so insta worthy. For food we tried a few things. My favorites were the Squid ink Squid, the goza and the spicy noodles. The squid was the most unique with the black color and Asian flavored sauce. It was a little on the salty side but I still really enjoyed it. My next favorite was the goza with purple sweet potatoes. They were the prettiest bright purple. The spicy noodles was a nice large portion to share and the spice made me keep eating. They do add 18 % tip to your bill regardless of how many in your party. If you're looking for some unique food and drinks this is your place! Lots of cute places to take some pictures too!

Yelp
This was quite a unique dining experience with different twists on appetizers and cocktails. Everything we tried was delicious and unexpected. The squid ink calamari stood out the most because wow it looks extraterrestrial, but tasted so good. The interior is beautiful, I loved the large bar as well as the comfortable sofa seating. A great place to hang out and grab some small plates and drinks. It's on the pricier side but you're paying for the overall experience.

Yelp
Happy hour menu all day on Thursdays!! Love the decor and tribute to a classic Orlando lamp store. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. The deconstructed Caesar salad was the best. Great craft cocktail menu. Fabulous friendly servers. Free valet helps with limited access to parking. Everyone was so nice and welcoming.

Yelp
This place is my new go-to for happy hour! It's got a modern but cozy vibe, with fun, artsy decor everywhere you look. The big windows, high ceilings, and comfy seats make it a perfect hangout spot. The food? Absolutely mind-blowing. The flavors are so unique--I've never had anything like it. If you're up for trying something different, you have to check this place out. I tried the duck dumplings, mayak deviled eggs, compressed watermelon, and caviar. Everything was 5 stars. Each dish had a fun, unexpected twist on the classics. I also tried the daiquiri which was super refreshing and flavorful. Service was on point too. Our server was super friendly, gave us great recommendations, and checked in with us regularly. Even the chef came out to say hi and ask how we liked everything! I'm already looking forward to going back.

Yelp
The food is awesome, great offerings in both cold and hot plates, tapas style. The one thing I forgot to photograph was the Green Curry mussels! Don't miss those when you come, the broth is just the right amount of spicy that it keeps you coming back for more. The hasselback potatoes are so decadent and the herb aioli they are sitting in is so good. You must love truffle though! Sushi squared was a fun play on an open faced sushi bite. Everything on the menu is very shareable and presentation is thoughtful. They have a great happy hour with small plates and martinis! I have been on a martini kick lately and they were excellent. I have been two times and the only issue is that service can be a little slow. Both times I experienced this it wasn't very busy. For tapas style, happy hour etc it was a little frustrating trying to track someone down to keep putting in orders. The servers were great both times we just wish they were a little more attentive to empty drinks etc. We definitely would have ordered more but ran out of time on one occasion before a concert. Very cool ambiance with very open lounge and dining room. That said, it can get loud inside quickly. Overall, the food and beverages we had were great but will probably try sitting at the bar next time.

Yelp
I went for Sunday brunch. It was pretty good. Some things were overpriced, like 4 tiny pieces of duck dumplings for $14. The oysters were good. Heart of palm cakes were good, deviled eggs were also solid. They had a nice selection of things. Sharable and "entree" style. We did more tapas to try more things. Service was pretty solid. But the menu had random things like a tomahawk for $98 and seafood tower for $150. Tt doesn't even fit the vibe. So hopefully, they get rid of that and just do a spicy cevice and a churrasco dish. They also need more lampshades fused in their decor though. There were none; such a shame for the name, they could have really made it eclectic and unique. They also follow suit with other new restaurants and tack on auto gratuity @18%. So be careful not to double tip unless you want to, that's all you. The fight for parking is on as well. Best bet to to grab a spot somewhere behind by the warehouses and neighborhood and just walk a couple minutes.

Yelp
This has been on our bucket list for quite some time and we finally made it here ! Great choice and recommendation from fellow peers and friends. Loved the vibe and everything from inside out it gave me a reserved yet social ambiance. Server was heat and she had spectacular food and drink choices. Although food was tasty, the drink stole it away for me at this location. Delicious , tasty , and just unique and different. Drink is called Silk and Emeralds. If I had to pick a favorite dish... I would have to say the dumplings and sushi square. Delicious and definitely something different to what I've had and tasted before. Great spot ! Side note.. parking is limited around mills so you would need to find parking behind the restaurant or on side streets or if possible, spots on mills by the main drag.

Yelp
We were search for a cute space to enjoy food/drinks and decided to try this spot. Parking is very limited, I suggest trying to find parking on the street. I also suggest not coming here unless you have a reservation or just want to sit at the bar. The hostess told us it would be a 30 minute wait for a table, took down our information and said she would call when it's ready. We got a drink at the bar while we waited - they never called despite tables being cleared. I'm honestly disappointed at the hostess service. The bar tender was great and the drinks were good. We ended up ordering an appetizer at the bar - the spicy noodles. The noodles were spicy, flavorful and a good portion size. It a decent experience but I'm not sure I'd recommend it to a friend or if I'll be back myself.

Yelp
I LOVE this place. Nicely decorated bar lounge and restaurant very spacious inside. A great place for small bites and craft cocktails. All of the food servings are creative and delicious. Service was great as well. This will be in my cocktail lounge rotation for the weekends.

Yelp
Cocktails were on point! Waitress had several great suggestions for drinks. Food is served tapas style and comes out fast! We had the burratta with the jam, Ube cheesecake, oysters, noodles, tuna tartare, ribs and steak- everything had such unique flavors awas more than enough to share for 2 people. Parking is a small lot but besides that can't wait to go back again!

Yelp
Cute spot in Mills 50. They offer valet parking on the evening but have a small parking lot. They offer cocktails and small bites. My friend and I just had drinks, but the food menu look d elevated and interesting, but can't speak to if this is more a pre-dinner snack option or full meal worthy! They have many interesting and unique cocktails and, as it was December, they had some nice seasonal options! We arrived early on a Friday, at around 4. The bar was full but all the table seating was open! I did make a reservation which ended up being a good call. While we would have been happy at the bar, it helped ensure we were able to be seated. It was the only kind of weird part of the experience as it seemed like they would have been unsure what to do with us, despite the empty appearing dining room. I assume the tables were accounted for, but it was an interesting look.

Yelp
Seriously SO impressed with this new culinary addition to the Mills District! Usually when a new spot just opens, you can notice the kinks they are still trying to shake out as they navigate figuring out the flow of things, but this was not noticeable here whatsoever. If I hadn't known they recently made their debut, I would have never guessed they recently had opened their doors. My fiancé & I made our way in on a Sunday afternoon just as they were opening at 4PM and grabbed 2 bar seats. There were only a few other people but very quickly, it began to fill up. By 4:30, there were no vacant seats at the bar and the tables in the dining room were beginning to fill up fast as well. So verdict is, if you're not able to arrive as soon as they open on a Sunday, you might want to consider making reservations. The staff was so welcoming and friendly! We were unfamiliar with the cocktail list and had no clue what to order. I wish I had remembered the name of the bartender, but she was very kind and assisted us in making a selection. I love banana, so naturally I opted for the Basic Instincts. I was a fan but not gonna lie, the cocktail did have an odd smell (but tasted good). My fiancé enjoyed his "Express and discard" because it tasted similar to an Old Fashioned (with a twist), which is usually something he orders. Onto the food.. One word.. WOW. We didn't try much, but what we did sample was out of this world great. The dumplings were absolutely delicious (they are very popular for good reason) but the cesar salad bites stole the show for us. I would come back simply for these and probably order twice as much because they were THAT good. If you're a Cesar salad lover, these will surely hit the spot. After having just a small portion of their menu and being thoroughly satisfied, I'm very much looking forward to returning very soon and trying more delicious goodies! I whole heartedly predict Lamp & Shade will be very successful and become a cherished Mills staple.

Yelp
Lamp & Shade new must try spot in Mills 50! They have an innovative yet accessible menu, excellent staff and unique vibes. To drink, we tried the Meet Me at the Mobil, their twist on a traditional Brazilian cocktail that is spirit forward, and the Silk and Emerald, a sweet fruit forward drink. They were well balanced with unique flavor profiles. The plates here are meant to be shared. We spilt the dumplings, the hasselback potatoes and the LA short rib. What stood out about each dish was the sauces and accents. The dumplings are on top of a soy miso butter, the potatoes on an herb aioli and the short ribs on a celery root puree. With every bite, we had to go back for more sauce and toppings because they were so good and we couldn't get enough. Do not skip the dessert! We tried the castella cake with salted miso caramel ice cream. It was absolutely divine. Shout out to our bartender Micheal! He was fantastic to us the entire evening and shared great recommendations. I recommend getting a reservation to guarantee a table and it is a must for larger parties. They do have walk in accommodations at the bar.

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Lamp and Shade, and it was an experience to remember. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the tone for a fantastic evening. One of the highlights of the night was exploring their unique drink menu. The "Silk and Emeralds" caught my eye immediately, and it did not disappoint. The combination of flavors was unlike anything I've tried before--smooth, refreshing, and with just the right touch of elegance. They had other intriguing options as well, each crafted with a level of creativity that's hard to find elsewhere. The service was nothing short of stellar. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely seemed to care about making sure we had a great time. It's clear they take pride in what they do, and it made the experience all the more enjoyable. And then there's the food--unbeatable in every sense of the word. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Whether you're a fan of classic dishes or looking for something a bit more adventurous, the menu offers something for everyone. Overall, Lamp and Shade exceeded all my expectations. Between the creative drinks, impeccable service, and outstanding food, it's a place I'll be returning to time and time again.

Yelp
Have an amazing experince at Lamp & Shade. This is a gem located at Mills 50, Orlando. The ambiance is so chic with elegant decor. An upscale restaurant with unique food and craft cocktails. As you walk in you get greeter by the friendly hostesses. Food is so unique, tasty with fresh ingredients and great presentations created by the amazing chef Ryan which we have the opportunity to met. We order sweet potatoes dumplings, ceasar salad bites, burrata cheese with yuzu jam, blackberries, tomatoes and grilled bread and hasselback potatoes. Everything was so delicious and flavorful. Cocktails and mocktails are so delicious. Our server was so friendly and knowledgeable of the menu, help me to choose a delicious craft cocktail. They have a big inside seating area with great decorations perfect to take pictures. Restrooms are very clean. Gratuity tip is already included on your check. Parking is very limited only for valet, they have street parking avariable but be prepared since is hard to find one.

Yelp
Lamp & Shade recently opened back up and is open for drinks and food. Their food and cocktail menu is unique, offering a variety of speciality cocktails and small tapa style plates. The atmosphere is very bright and open, filled with color and vibrance as soon as you open the door. It's certainly a great looking environment and one that I'd deem as instagram friendly which as we all know is very important today. If you don't have a reservation it can be a bit tough getting seats on just a walk in on the weekends. We were able to get some seats by the bar after a slight wait. I can't speak on the food as I just came here for the drinks. As mentioned they do offer unique cocktails as well as the classics but we opted for cocktails off the menu. Off the bat I'd say the bartender we had wasn't exactly the friendliest at times we had to signal to get her attention because it felt as if she forgot about us. I got the Silk & Famous cocktail which contains vodka, pineapple, coconut, matcha and few other things as it was recommended to me. I wasn't a fan of this the match taste was a bit overpowering and it felt like a bunch of things were just thrown into a glass. The mix was off to me. The bottom line, the vibe and aesthetic is very upbeat and the environment does look very nice. Although my experience with the cocktails wasn't pleasant, the bartender I had wasn't very attentive, the host also isn't the friendliest. If you're looking for a nice looking environment and would like to bring some friends it could be a good option for you. If you care about service and quality in my opinion there are much better options in the Mills area.

Yelp
What a wonderful ambiance, good food and drinks. It was my first time here and it will not be my last. I went with some girlfriends. Our server Trent was very patient with us as we were trying to decide on happy hour and what to order. He did a great job explaining the drinks and the food. I ended up ordering the bees knees, and my girlfriends each ordered wine the bees knees is one of my favorite drinks and it was very well done and well balanced. We then ended up ordering some tops style dishes, including the Caesar bites, which was basically what seemed to be a deconstructed Caesar salad and it was delicious and very creative, we ordered also the ribs, the shrimp lettuce, wraps, and the Korean garlic bread I would order each of those again I will say the ribs meat for me was a little tough, but the taste was good. This is a great spot with a great vibe and great food and drinks.
