The 38 Best Manila Restaurants | Eater

"Located on the second floor of a nondescript apartment building in Poblacion, Lampara serves a generous selection of hearty neo-Filipino cuisine and cocktails. It’s run by young chefs RJ Ramos, Prince Tan, and Alphonse Sotero, who all build on experience in the kitchens of other fine dining restaurants. Favorites include a starter of rice cups (inspired by lumpia), dinuckduckan (a duck version of the Ilocano dinakdakan), and pork (crispy porchetta, star anise reduction, and pork floss). Don’t leave without trying the inventive desserts, specifically the yema and tsokolate (sweet custard and chocolate)." - Toni Potenciano

Excellent modern twist on traditional Filipino food. Very attentive service. High quality tasty appetizers and entrees. Great cocktails as well all in a quaint nicely decorated establishment on 2nd floor.

It's just perfect. Cocktails are also so good. Salpicao is good. Even plain rice is well cooked with pandan.

Food and service were great! Staff was very friendly and accommodating (place was dog friendly provided the dog is behaved). The food was delicious all throughout our dining experience (from appetizer to main course). Would highly recommend!

Food was lovely, ambiance was good, perfect lighting, not too dark and not bright. The price is just enough, however, I felt kinda sad that the food that caught my attention was not available that night :( Also we could have enjoyed our dinner if we didnt felt rushed because of the waitstaff being too pushy, we understand that this is business, but as a food lover and a slow eater we don’t like being rushed and felt like we don’t have peace of mind coz we’re getting pressured by the waitstaff pushing us.

Lampara is an exquisite experience of tastes, top-rate service, and Filipino culinary craftmanship. This hidden gem tucked in the tranquil side of the loud red light district of Poblacion, Makati, offers a dining experience like no other, giving customers a unique, fine dining-esque feel that you'll usually expect in 5-star hotels. Truly, this is the ideal place for a romantic date, a family get-together, or reunion with friends. My college friends and I came in here to talk about our life's latest happenings but each time they serve our food, we can't help but talk about the amazing flavors and my friends even sometimes reminisce about happy memories (like something out of cooking-themed animes). Worth a slot in my go-to place for dates and friends or guests requiring special care. Thank you Lampara

Wonderful and delightful restaurant. You might not easily find it and parking will be a challenge but do take grab and spend time looking with a lampara on hand cause it's going to be worth all that time and effort. We tried everything on their menu, not a wide selection but just a perfect range or variety. We actually felt good we tasted everything on the menu. The food quality was consistently excellent and elegant. The rice cups, dinuckdukan and tofu were way up in my scale. If you are big eater you might need to double the order but the price won't be a surprise. Very reasonably priced dishes. Even their margarita did not let me down. They take their cocktails seriously. So if you love a sip of a delicately made cocktail this is a perfect place to dine with dear friends and family. Definitely coming back!

Absolutely fantastic from cocktails to meals. Do make sure you ask the price of the special before ordering.

Yelp
On a recent trip to Manila, a good friend of mine took us to Lampara in Makati's Poblacion area. Lampara is a modern take on traditional Fiilipino cuisine. While I realize Filipino food has its detractors, there are many dishes that I enjoy, but what I appreciated about Lampara's style was that the food wasn't overcooked and tasted lighter than a lot of Filipino dishes tend to. I highly recommend the pulpo! The atmosphere is as if you're in someone's house, and there is a quaint outdoor seating area. Parking can be difficult, but there is a paid parking lot down the street. This is a great place to try if you want Filipino food, but a little more unique, especially if you have guests in town. The drinks were also very creative and delicious. Service was also very good, attentive, polite, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend, but definitely make a reservation!

Yelp
We had a lovely dinner at Lampara last minute on a Saturday. They were able to squeeze us in at 8:30 with no wait! The restaurant is cute and on the smaller side. We ordered the Dinuckdakan (duck sisig), the Tanigue (fish), and the Duck Confi. The duck sisig was good but a bit heavy for an appetizer. I actually prefer the unelevated version. The duck confi was perfect!! A must try. The skin was crispy and the liver empanada was a nice touch. The fish was also good, not a stand out, but worth ordering. We also had the tres leches which was a creative take on the regular dessert. Loved the tuile that came with it! The absinthe drink was excellent. The only item I wouldn't recommend was the peach mango "die" cocktail. It tasted like a sweeter peach bellini and didn't have any craftsmanship like their other drinks. Dinner was just under 4000 pesos for everything! Great prices for the quality and service.

Yelp
Popped in for a quick dinner on my last night in Manila. The food was fantastic. Had the lengua in truffle sauce and it was AMAZING. Highly recommended. Just note, sometimes they close before the posted hours.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem in Poblacion. Innovative and delicious food and drinks. You must try what I can only describe as an alcoholic Uber shake!
