"Brian tells us there are plenty of fine motels closer to where the Amish live, but that he recommends friends and business associates stay at the Lancaster Arts Hotel, which is “near the best coffee shop, easy to get to, and housed in a beautiful old brick tobacco warehouse.”"

"The Lancaster Arts Hotel, housed in a former Lancaster tobacco warehouse, embodies the steady revitalization of this Amish country city. Behind its plain brick exterior, the look is impressively glossy—think coffee shop meets art gallery—with cool furnishings, quirky artwork, and sculptures that hint at the building’s history. (Picture armchairs covered in tobacco-leaf fabric and a handcrafted Victorian-era Dentzel carousel animal.) The creative flair you see in the lobby extends to the guest rooms, where refurbished wood floors, exposed brick, and high ceilings lend the industrial feel of an artist’s studio; gallery-style lighting and original artwork heighten the impression. Take one of the hotel's bicycles into town—it's a good way to explore the area, without all the hassle of parking." - Nancy DePalma

"So, can you tell us a little about this place? The Lancaster Arts Hotel, housed in a former tobacco warehouse, embodies the steady revitalization of this Amish country city. Behind its plain brick exterior, the look is impressively glossy—think coffee shop meets art gallery—with eclectic furnishings, quirky artwork, and sculptures that hint at the building’s history. (Picture armchairs covered in tobacco-leaf fabric and a handcrafted Victorian-era Dentzel carousel animal.) Plus, it’s within walking distance to town, but removed enough that it still feels like an escape from the hustle and bustle. What’s the crowd like? It’s a mix of business and pleasure travelers, with many Europeans visiting during the summer months. How was check in? Did you get all the information you were looking for?Check-in is very friendly, with thoughtful questions about plans during the visit and suggestions for area restaurants and activities. Now, onto the good stuff: Tell us about the digs. The creative flair you see in the lobby extends to the guest rooms, where refurbished wood floors, exposed brick, and high ceilings lend the industrial feel of an artist’s studio. Gallery-style lighting and original artwork heighten the impression. What can you tell us about the little things, like the minibar or the shower goodies? Anything that made your stay more comfortable? The hotel provides pencils and notebooks, which is a fun feature if you have a creative streak. Wine refrigerators are a nice touch, too, as are the Egyptian cotton linens and bathrobes. How about dining options? What's on offer?Complimentary continental breakfast is served daily in the spotless breakfast room. John J. Jeffries, the on-site restaurant named for a tobacco inspector whose ticket was discovered during renovation, is an up-market spot located just off the lobby; the chefs' skills, coupled with the restaurant's commitment to sourcing from local farms where possible, make it as popular with area residents as with hotel guests. As such, reservations are often necessary. Any other services or features you'd like to shout out?Handcrafted jewelry and art are on display, and both are available for purchase. The hotel also has bicycles available for guests to use—a handy perk if you want to explore Lancaster without the hassle of parking. So, bottom line: worth it, and why?Definitely worth the visit. It's like SoHo before the commercialization (only, in Lancaster)." - Nancy DePalma

Highly recommend! We were in the area to attend an antique show in Lititz and decided to try this hotel based on traveler ratings. We were very impressed with the very friendly and helpful guest service with check in, beautiful room, comfy bed, and the entire concept of the hotel in keeping historic charm. We enjoyed walking all the floors to see all the artwork on the walls. Our room was very quiet on the 5th floor. Pleasantly surprised to find a long stem red rose and chocolates after returning to our room! (Learned Lancaster known as the red rose city). |Everything was super clean. Breakfast was good, plenty of options for us with yogurts, variety of muffins, bagels, cereals, fresh fruit, an egg dish, and cheeses. |Looking forward to another stay! Everything was perfect! |(Vegans will appreciate a vegan eatery in walking distance which was amazing)

This historic property has been beautifully converted to a classy hotel. I loved the original brick walls and wide plank floors. The classic carpets add color and comfort on the floors and it was unique to see so many framed art pieces covering the walls in the rooms and halls. Most of all, I appreciated a very comfortable king bed with very soft and luxurious bedding. The long stemmed red rose on the bed upon our arrival was romantic and classy, as was the chocolates left on our pillow with the turn down service. While we didn't have time for a full dinner before our show, we enjoyed several delicious small plates in the bar which were prepared and presented beautifully. The breakfast the next morning was so much more than a typical free breakfast that included a variety of specially prepared egg dishes, fresh fruit, baked goods, plus yogurt and cereals and assorted juices, teas and coffee. My vegetarian needs were graciously met. We will certainly plan to stay at Lancaster Arts Hotel again. The experience was worth it!

This was the most unique Hotel I have ever stayed at, and I've been to many. I really appreciated the design as it steps away from the standard cookie cutter hotels. The rooms are an absolute delight. The artwork is delightful. I really enjoyed the different artwork in the elevator each day. I am already planning a family trip for the fall and can't wait!

We always enjoy our stay at the Lancaster Arts Hotel. Everything is always very clean and the customer service is excellent. All of the staff are friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are always spotless and fresh. Shoutout to all of the staff and especially the housekeepers and the maintenance supervisor, DWAYNE. He works extremely hard to ensure that everything is functioning properly and safely. He is the MAN!!! Keep up the great work everyone. What a blessing to have such a historical hotel in the perfect location downtown. All of you need a raise for what you do! Thank you for always ensuring that our stay at the Lancaster Arts Hotel is phenomenal. May God bless each and every one of you!

Just to get this out of the way: I'm not giving my beautiful room 5 stars because the walls were pretty thin - I could hear every word from the VERY talkative person next door. Luckily she went to bed early, but wow, I heard every single word. (Also, my room was right next to the elevator, the ice machine and the cleaning closet so there was all that noise too. But those noises were only occasional, unlike the chatterbox next door.) Aside from that, I loved the Lancaster Arts Hotel and I'd happily stay again. We were greeted very warmly by the nice man at the front desk, and he gave us loads of advice on the town. I wish we had known there was so much to do because he really sold us on Lancaster but we only spent one night there. The hotel has its own (free) parking lot on premise, which was great. Breakfast was just ok (but included in our rate). We had a drink at the very lovely bar and I could have sat there all night. My room was gorgeous -- I had a single, and it had all the new amenities while keeping the charm of the old building. Ladies, be advised: there was no hair dryer in the room which I found odd in this day and age, but for one night I survived. I'd love to stay here again, it really was that charming.

Fantastic hotel. I stayed four nights and found myself really enjoying this place. It's clean and quiet. My room had a nice bathroom. The restaurant inside is also one of the best in town. The Fridge is also right next door which has a beer for everyone (you name it, they have it) and excellent pizza. The location is great for walking about Downtown as you can get to most places within 10-15 minutes max. Plenty of free parking on the property. The breakfast in the morning was always well stocked and also impressive. GM Ahmed was very kind and ensured a warm experience. I highly recommend this lovely hotel to anyone traveling through Lancaster.

Google
This place was great! You can walk to the downtown area, rooms were very clean and spacious, lobby was beautiful with all the art and sculptures. The restaurant downstairs looked good too but we didn’t get a chance to go. The only critique is that the breakfast was very carb heavy, and not as balanced as we would have liked, but still appreciate them serving it and the staff was very kind!

We reserved a room block at the Arts Hotel for our wedding and it was a great location for our guests to be able to explore downtown Lancaster. The initial process of working with the Arts Hotel was somewhat frustrating with lack of responsiveness and a few different points of contact turning over, but the experience was much better when Jacob took over the role. He was proactive in reaching out to me about my room block and responded promptly. Overall, we were happy with our room block and it worked out well for the wedding weekend.

Kathleen B.

Yelp
It is a beautiful and unique hotel with Art work throughout. Our room suite was spacious, and comfortable. They thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and memorable. The only downside was the restaurant attached. The food was awful and over priced. None of the four of us finished our food.

Bill S.

Yelp
The Lancaster Arts hotel was a hidden gem. It's wasn't a luxurious hotel by any means, what made our stay special for me was its charm. We left our car in the covered garage and walked into the lobby. We were greeted by a friendly hotel employee who offered us cold water with slices cucumbers. This automatically puts me in a lovely mood. We're told every morning there is free breakfast and check out is at noon. Enjoy your stay. The hotel is deceiving because it's very large. We walked down this beautiful brick hallway to our room. Our room was just the right size for my wife & I. The bathroom shower was a nice size, what was missing was the nice shower products. They gave us a small bar of soap with liquid soaps mounted on the wall. Yuckk.. and one of my towels were ripped? Any hotel where I rest my head, I want all the small details to be special. Ripped towels? Uncool. Putting the bathroom products to the side, the hotel is next to a nice market where they're making fresh doughnuts. Lancaster just oozes charm, this was another nice feature. Breakfast downstairs was nice, they had three different types of cereal as well as breads for toast. There was a automatic pancake maker that I had to figure out. I made a mess, haha! Also, a bunch of Jimmy Dean bagel breakfast sandwiches were available, To heat them I had to use the microwave. Bagels in the microwave really don't work so I ate the middle. Overall, a nice spot to drink a cup of coffee. The arts portion, they encourage hotel guests to draw in sketch books and they are displayed throughout the hotel. Another nice touch, we've seen some beautiful drawings from other guests. Lancaster Arts Hotel, we had an enjoyable stay. Thank you for the hospitality.

Yelp
Wonderful stay! We had just the one night there as we were passing through on our honeymoon & wish we could have stayed longer. The room was fantastic and the service was top notch! I asked the front desk gal for recommendations on where to eat and drink and she was ready for all the recommendations for me, and she even brought up a bottle of champagne for us once I disclosed we were there for our wedding. Can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
Recently had the opportunity to visit the charming city of Lancaster. Met some friends towards closing time at the bar of the Lancaster Arts Hotel. The Hotel also very charming in an artsy way. Food needed to be ordered from outside the hotel and eaten in the lobby(not at the bar). My friend went back into the dining area to grab napkins. The bartender then followed her and proceeded to yell a string of profanities. It was very disturbing and unsettling. Witnessing that poor level of customer service would cause me to not recommend this boutique hotel.

Lindsey O.

Yelp
OBSESSED with this hotel. One of my favorites I've stayed in lately and one of the best in a city the size of Lancaster. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, with beautiful brick lining the exterior and interior, fantastic paintings, beautiful carpets, and just overall incredible decor. The service was friendly and helpful. I stayed in the presidential suite which was sooooo nice and huge! It has a full living room with a kitchenette and couches, a giant bedroom, a huge jacuzzi tub, and a very nice bathroom and shower. The bed was comfortable, and the decor was very pretty. I would absolutely recommend anyone coming to Lancaster stay here and only here! I loved it SO much.

Dominic M.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed in the LAH for four nights and found the service and amenities surpassed our expectations. The rooms were quaint, clean and comfortable. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and professional. I'd stay again without question.

Kirk F.

Yelp
I liked this place; convenient to both F&M and downtown (short drive or long walk to each). Quirky and nice reclamation of an old building. Excellent bar with nice bartenders. My only hesitancy and recommendations are--my room, and I think all the rooms in the annex wing, are not as unique--so book early to get a full choice of rooms. And there were a few humming sounds in my room that were annoying but not deal breakers. Overall, great place and I'd go again.

Yelp
An absolutely wonderful time away in Amish Country. My husband and I spent a relaxing weekend in room 506 and it def won't be the last time. My husband had a beautiful basket made and we spent a romantic weekend in this hotel. Despite covid we loved the on-site restaurant and classy touches to make our stay memorable. They also did a great job cleaning and making sure breakfast was safe for all the guests. The room was clean and the amenities were nice. Even the special bath salts for our private jacuzzi were a nice touch. I wouldn't stay here unless it was for this room. Thank you for a memorable stay.

Yelp
Stayed here on an overnight in July 2022. What a wonderful Boutique Hotel! Place is beautiful and love the art all across the hotel. Staff is nothing but friendly and helpful. As with many boutique hotels, the rooms very unique. Repurposed brick. I loved it. Bed was comfortable, and bathroom had modern feel. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! Gun to my head, breakfast was just OK, but it was free, so how can you complain. I've stayed in LOTS of hotels and Bed and Breakfasts in the area, this will be my go to from now on.

Ryan L.

Yelp
Stayed at hotel in suite. Only to be awoken by a bat flying about the room. After speaking with the night time person, this has been an issue for some time. Yet they are renting a room with an animal that can carry disease. We also had bed bugs in the bed and ended up just leaving for another hotel. There were mold in the shower and water leaking from the ceiling

Rto A.

Yelp
Very nice property. Always enjoy the boutique hotel experience. Conveniently located to the downtown area and my conference at the Marriott (saved a bundle vs. staying at the host hotel). Ample covered parking. Room was comfortable. Everyone was super friendly. My only issues: a) breakfast was unexceptional; b) specifically requested a quiet room away from elevators, stairs and vending - they gave me a room next to the elevator and ice machine and the dumpster was right out side the window so I could hear someone dumping trash all night long.

Tamara G.

Yelp
I have stayed here so many times in the past 6 years that I have lost count! You will not find the charm, history & ambiance that this boutique hotel offers in any chain in Lancaster. Plus you have the bonus of a great restaurant/bar on the premises plus free parking in the city! And you can walk to virtually all the great other bars & restaurants downtown. Staff is friendly & on our 5 day visit in November 2021, which we extended by the day, due to a death in the family, the front desk staff were fantastic in accommodating us. The rooms are very cool with original floors, exposed brick, nice bathrooms & comfy beds. Sketch pad & pencil in the room and you're encouraged to leave your artwork behind for display in the hotel. The downside? It's an OLD building, so floor creak, noise travels. If there are rowdy guests or randy guests (you get my drift) you will hear them. Bring ear plugs just in case. Wine fridge in room. Beer Fridge (place next door) has every craft beer you'd ever want. It's a gem & I will continue to stay here when I visit my former hometown.

S J.

Yelp
Really great location and free parking. The building is very cool looking and the lobby is cool and comfy. The rooms are very attractive and the seats and the bed are comfortable. The breakfast is very nice and the seating area is nice, especially the outside area which is charming. My only complaint would be that the first room we were put in had a very loud noise. We were moved to another room, but this could have been a bigger problem if a room had not been available.

Brenda E.

Yelp
I would not recommend the Lancaster Arts Hotel. I stayed at this establishment for a weekend with my husband and after discovering a dirty comforter and pillowcase we requested them to be changed when we left for a baseball game. When we got back we had sheets waiting for us but no comforter. We had to wait over an hour to get clean linens to sleep on. With paying over $500 a night I would expect a clean bed and then even after bringing it to the attention of the staff to have it handled. Very disappointed with the service.

M. J.

Yelp
Another great stay in Lancaster. This place is so cool. Super sweet staff. Room was tiny but well appointed. Had that kind of groovy distressed feel. Real unique fixtures. Breakfast was great. Staff really informative. Small, bar for a beer off of lobby. Really like the place.

Louisa M.

Yelp
I travel to Lancaster about 6 times a year for business, and was excited to find this boutique-ish hotel. Thankfully when I received my confirmation, I noticed the wrong dates, called immediately and they admitted it was their mistake. I originally asked for a room in the old end, but got a room in the new wing. Not what I wanted, but it was just two nights. Some idiot pulled the fire alarm about 11:30 pm the first night, woke me up, but not the hotel's fault. But my fav part was the guy on my terrace at 8:45 pm the 2nd night laughing and yelling putting up XMas decor. Not happy when I had to get up at 4 am. What is the hotels fault is their complete lack of customer service. I asked to get a late checkout the next day which they wouldn't do even though I offered to pay for it. Their excuse was they needed to get the rooms cleaned, not happy, but understood until I got to my room. Nobody had been to my room when I got back at 6 pm, and had been gone since 6:30 am. I tried to call the desk, but they don't answer. I went downstairs to ask about new towels and coffee supplies and she told me if you're not staying four nights, you have to request new towels and whatever else you need. Then I was handed towels, coffee packs and sugar. What hotel does that? So, although it's a cool hotel in ways, I wouldn't really recommend.

Yelp
DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!! I stayed here with my family last night and we had the WORST STAY! From midnight until 2am there were 3 SUVs in the front parking lot with all car doors open - blaring their music. There were about 20 guys drinking and screaming and they would surround every car that attempted to leave... POUNDING ON THEIR CARS AND SCREAMING AT THEM TO ROLL DOWN THEIR WINDOWS. The cars were forced into traffic and several collisions almost happen. So much honking. It was the scariest thing I had ever experienced. When we checked out the next morning after getting NO SLEEP, the lady at the front desk asked, how was your stay? I said is someone working the front desk 24 hours a day? She said yes. I said were you here last night? And she said no. I explained what we had been through and she said she was aware of what had happened and that the gang had rented one of their party rooms and they couldn't get them to leave?!!??? UNBELIEVABLE! No cops were called , no discount was offered. WE PAID FULL PRICE FOR THIS HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE. DO NOT STAY HERE. I repeat... DO NOT STAY HERE.

Mark B.

Yelp
Avoid this place at all costs. I booked 2 nights for 3/24 and 3/25 via Agoda which ended up being registered for 3/23 and 3/24 due to their mistake, but I still had the dates. I called last night (3/23) and spoke to Ryan, the gentleman at the desk, who assured me that he would put me as NOT a no-show and could come for my date tonight on 3/24. What happened when I arrived was embarrassing to say the least. I was told that I WAS registered as a no show despite what Ryan said the night previous. They told me that the change had to be registered through Agoda, but when I reminded them that that was not what their agent said the night previous, they just kept saying that it was not in the system and they could not refund my money, refusing to take any responsibility for their miscommunication. Agoda can not give a refund to me because that window to talk them closed due to the hotel's misinformation. They didn't even have another room to make up for their mistake. I lost at least $220 because of them, could not get another hotel, and had to drive home 1.5 hours away.

Marie L.

Yelp
TLDR: If you like solidly 2 star hotels, book this place via booking.com and NOT direct. First, we had issues booking the hotel on their website for a Wednesday night stay due to an alleged two-night minimum stay. Based on a stay about 10 years ago, we believed this to be our best hotel option in the area, so we called the hotel. They said there was no minimum stay and that they had a room available. When we arrived, as we were checking in, I noticed a rate $50 less on Booking.com than what the employee had just quoted us. The employee checking us in stated that "oh, yeah, they always have much lower rates than we do but I'm not allowed to match it." I asked if I could book through Booking.com instead and they said "I've already checked you in, so no." Hotels should do everything they can to discourage third-party booking. Empowering your employees to provide good customer service by matching rates for services you OPT-IN to is the bare minimum. It benefits the business and the customer. We got up to the room and it was filthy. Furniture was stained, the rooms had not been thoroughly cleaned in a while (note dust and food in bedside table photo) and the shower was stained and moldy (photos included). Only perks of a stay here include Mean Cup coffee and a nail salon in an adjacent strip mall building and free parking. The staff was "nice" -- they always told us they couldn't help us with a smile. I was given an email to get in touch with a manager who "might" be able to help me. I never received a response.

Colin M.

Yelp
A nice enough hotel, but I don't think I'd stay here again. The room and bed were comfortable enough, and the A/C worked more than great. For some reason, they charged my card twice and then refunded me as opposed to just putting an authorization hold on for some apparent reason. The front staff during check-in wasn't overly welcoming and didn't tell us about the room, breakfast (which was incredibly disappointing) or seem open to answering our questions. Don't even get me started on how slow the elevator is for a hotel with 5 floors.

Deborah T.

Yelp
We reserved 4 rooms for a family wedding. Reservations all mixed up. Told my room was canceled when we arrived. Did find us a room. When my son arrived, they had overbooked & gave his room away. Sent him to the Holiday Inn. Although the hotel is very nice, who overbooks on a regular basis & cancels rooms. This was a very stressful experience. I would not return or recommend for that reason. Stayed 5/20/23. Poor management

Karen G.

Yelp
Let me preface my review with I did not choose this hotel. It was part of a group booking. I will also never book at this hotel again and I frequent the area twice a year. Rooms are dark. Wood floors give splinters and have turned my kids white socks black. Upon check in I was informed my room was only 2 nights not 3. They told me nothing we can do because we are booked. I provided my conf # and then they gave me a key. We get to our room after traveling for hours and it's a king bed. We lug all our stuff back to the lobby because a family of 4 can't fit in a king bed. We get another room, luckily it's right outside the garbage and recycling dumpster so we can hear all the glass and aluminum being dumped. On Monday, we were lucky enough to hear the garbage truck with back up beeps emptying the dumpster at just before 5am. There's no housekeeping service daily. Our room garbage piled up. There's dispensers in the shower for soap and hair products. They don't work unless you are Ironman. To get anything you need, you can ask the front desk. They will give you 1 , say they are out or will bring it to you. The bar / restaurant is not for us. No TV on a big football weekend And nothing is in walking distance. Not kid friendly. Someone must have been smoking and it was coming though the walls or windows. I'm sure it's someone cup of tea but not ours. Final straw. Group booking rate was documented in confirmation. At check out tried to charge us $20 more per night. Not only us but our entire group. Seems like some shady business practices at that hotel. How many people don't notice? They made it right but leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

L S.

Yelp
great hotel and staff gave us a free room upgrade. Interior very nice and not your typical holiday inn etc...

Tony B.

Yelp
Really cool "theme" hotel in a big old industrial brick building with art on the walls and doodle pads in the rooms. Rooms have high ceilings, exposed brick, stunning wood ceiling beams, spacious bathrooms with nice fixtures. They did an amazing design job working with the original factory space while adding both modern chic and cozy touches. A few minuses keep this from being top notch: The service was a little bit "staring off into space" and not overly welcoming upon entering...though everyone was friendly enough once you engaged with them. It was just missing the special touch, ya know? But maybe that's part of the artsy theme? The staff are all wistful artists?? The free continental breakfast was also pretty lame. Not terrible, just not much of a selection. Mostly bread, cereal, a basket of oranges of bananas but no other fresh fruit or pastries of any kind. They also had these weird donut holes that I almost chocked on. Coffee was decent at least and the room it's served in was nice. But those are minor complaints. The building, art, and rooms are the selling points, and on those marks it does not disappoint.

Dave K.

Yelp
Reserved a room, what appeared to be blood was everywhere on window/room curtains. Chemical smell. Was told we were getting a room swap, and then the manager intervened and said there was nothing they could do - so we left. We were really looking forward a weekend away, but didn't work out. I would not stay here under any circumstances.

M M.

Yelp
Only one nite. But super cool funky hotel. Would definitely stay again. Nice free parking garage. Bfast included. The room was just delightful huge beams, unique lighting old industrial style desk. Nice toiletries. Slept great big comfortable bed.

Sandra P.

Yelp
We have stayed here in earlier years, and were really pleased with the value received for the money spent. Just finishing our two night stay, and I must say we were rather disappointed this time. Management seems to have used Covid as an excuse to cut back on the services and amenities we had come to expect here, There is no room or bathroom cleaning unless you request it with 24 hrs. notice, and this is announced by a paper sign in the elevator, The pleasant personal amenities have been replaced with a mere sliver of soap, two cheap sanitizing towelettes, and some pumps on the shower wall. Most importantly, one of the mattresses in the double queen room was lumpy and had a deep indentation in the middle. Only sleeping on the very edge of the bed provided some level of comfort.

Gail G.

Yelp
Very nice stay recently. Room was nice and not just clean but spotless. Bkfst set up very nice with enough to choose from and the girl taking care of it does a nice presentation and keeps it clean. Door unlocked for us both mornings to enjoy bkfst outside instead of taking it back to the room or eating in lobby . Location good for Lancaster attractions.

Yelp
The Lancaster Arts Hotel is one of the most unique places I've ever spent the night. Walking up to the main entrance you immediately understand that this was once a factory that's now been converted into a hotel. They've kept the charm of the brick exterior and its so lovely. Inside is something a little different... for me it was a modern artsy lodge with hints of deco thrown in. There were brick walls, glass panels, exposed and raw wood columns, a curved staircase dividing seating areas with oversize red leather lounge chairs and colorful lights. And there was art everywhere! After checking in we all dispersed to our respective rooms and get ready for drinks down at the bar [https://www.yelp.com/biz/john-j-jeffries-lancaster?hrid=l2quQQ8fLaAIZF8kvfeF5A&utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct) ] To my surprise the room I walked into was huge and so beautifully decorated. The contrast of exposed brick and dark gray/sage wall color were perfect and I loved loved loved all of the shaker style furniture. The room only had one window but instead of feeling dark it made the room feel cozy and so comfortable. And speaking of comfortable - that bed! SO comfy. The bathroom was lovely and also very generous in size. Two sinks, open glass shower, dark walls and floors. So so lovely. Back downstairs for breakfast the next morning we found a nicely laid out spread of all things breakfast: fruits, bagels, english muffins, cereal, yogurt. Plus tea, coffee and a bunch of juices. The room also had a tv airing the local news, newspapers and plenty of tables. Overall - between the super comfy rooms and the pleasant staff - this is a great place to stay for the night, or for a weekend if you're bopping around Lancaster. A few other misc notes: There was a little bit of traffic noise from outside. I was up on the 5th floor in the front of the hotel and could hear a little bit of traffic in the am... but nothing crazy. As mentioned before there is artwork everywhere. My room (and I'm sure all of the other rooms) had large pieces with info about purchasing. And there's a sketch pad in each room with a note that tells guest to leave a drawing. The gals downstairs at the front desk said "if its not vulgar we'll put it in one of the books in the lobby." The single elevator is larger than expected but super slow.

Yelp
For the price I've stayed in better dive motels. Parking garage is meant for mini cars. The Rooms....they look nice but looks are deceiving . Walls are paper thin. Had upstairs neighbors going at it for hours sounded like a porn movie, so loud it sounded like it was our room. Packed up went down to front desk ..complained..and they were not surprised about our complaint . Moved us to smaller room on lower floor. Wooden blinds let is a decent about of light so no sleeping late. Had snow plow in neighboring lot wake us about 4:45 am. Shower wasn't bad lots of hot water. Contential breakfast was a joke so check out and headed home . Watch out if booking with a hotels.com or other site they won't give you a receipt . But watch for the 75 dollar charge for your room in case of damages. Waiting to see if this is removed from the credit card charges . So in all Avoid at all costs is my recommendation. Update Hotels.com removes truthful reviews especially if the hotel in question doesn't like it .

Yelp
What a nightmare. Booked a room here through Orbitz AND PAID FOR IT IN ADVANCE. Because that makes it a guarantee, right? Get there, they say "It says here your room was cancelled." Um, no, it's paid for and we're here. Call Orbitz. Orbitz says, "Yeah, this is an active reservation, not cancelled." The hotel's reply: "It says here your room was cancelled." No attempted to fix anything. Orbitz calls hotel--can't even get through, or the hotel just wouldn't answer their call. So finally Orbitz moves us to another hotel, no extra charge. It took THREE HOURS of talking with Orbitz to fix the mess, because somebody at the Lancaster Arts Hotel either a) cancelled our reservation in error, or b) sold the room out from under us. Either way an awful and disappointing waste of time.

Yelp
This is the hotel to stay at when you're in Lancaster. The staff are very polite and courteous. The rooms are very well put together and clean. Make sure you got to the restaurant inside the hotel as well. The food was terrific.

Yelp
I would go back to Lancaster just to stay in this beautiful hotel and visit with the friendly staff. Before my visit, I called and spoke with the general manager. She's a gem! Not only did she give me a little spiel about the city over the phone, but she also emailed me a list of places that she recommended for me during my stay. The hotel used to be a tobacco warehouse, some of the original framework remains, while the rest has been renovated and restored to a real masterpiece. When I opened the door to my room, I immediately fell in love with the exposed brick wall. But there was so much more to love about the room from the bed to the jacuzzi, a nice big bathroom, a comfy couch, huge TVs, and it was very clean and neatly decorated. If I didn't have such an ambitious agenda to discover the city, I would have been perfectly comfortable staying at the Arts Hotel the entire time! There is a small gym, but they also offer a free pass to the YMCA which is right across the street. Then, adjacent to the checkin lobby, there's a nice sized bar. I had a cabernet (or two!). And one other perk that I was all about: free bike rental! There's plenty of parking structures and on-street parking around the city, but I prefer to pedal rather than pay! So that's just what I did. I was zipping all over town in that beach cruiser! It even had a convenient basket for me to hold my bags and my iPad. Many thanks to all who made my stay a pleasant one!!

Yelp
Location was convenient, staff were helpful & friendly, hotel was clean, loved the turn down service and the charm of it being an old warehouse with modern touches & cool art! Brick walls make it noisy but I wear ear plugs to bed because I'm a light sleeper and I was fine.

Yelp
I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. 1) it is CUTE 2) impeccable service 3) comfortable 4) Quaint 5) CLEANNNN I stayed in one of the suites and absolutely adored my stay. I want to come back just to stay here.

Yelp
Nice spot, hotel is cute in the main areas but through out is insane poor condition. Left much to be desired and looks nothing like it does online and booking sites. Front desk was very sweet though

Yelp
The ascetic at this hotel is great. Great location and it's very clean. Rooms are super cute. However, reason for the 2 stars is that the subfloors in this place are just absolutely terrible. We stayed on the 2nd floor and you can hear people way too clearly outside the hotel, below you on the first floor, and every single movement your upstairs neighbors make too. If you're a light sleeper like myself this place is NOT for you. There are no fans in the rooms either so you will not be able to drown out the noise with a fan. I had to wear headphones and play white noise music just to fall asleep. I've never stayed at a hotel where I can hear so many different noises at once. If a door opens within a mile of the hotel, you will hear it.

Yelp
The Lancaster Arts Hotel is fabulous. My husband and I stayed in a Loft Suite and it was pretty perfect. The whirlpool tub was big enough for both of us, the bed was very comfortable and the room was beautiful. It was also really reasonably priced. The whole hotel has a really cool aesthetic, which is what attracted us. Friendly staff and ample parking. Also, the hotel restaurant is freaking incredible. Not just for a hotel restaurant, but for any restaurant. Seriously amazing. My only real complaint is the elevator situation. Which is to say, there's just one for 5 floors and hundreds of guests. Other than that, it was perfect!

Yelp
Lovely hotel with art for sale all throughout the halls and rooms. My husband and I visited Lancaster to start off our honeymoon and the hotel kindly upgraded us to a loft room. The loft room is romantic and includes a Jacuzzi tub and the most comfortable bed! We chose the Brewmaster Package as an add-on. We received two cans, a $25 gift card to the brewery, two pint glasses, and a VIP tour with the head brewer at Lancaster Brewing Company. It was difficult to schedule the tour (requires calling the brewery multiple times) but that's no fault of the hotel. Overall, wonderful stay!

Yelp
We love staying here! The rooms are clean and comfy, the staff is courteous and the turndown service is extra special! The location for the hotel is also ideal when you want to visit the Lancaster area.

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE this hotel! Love the deco! Love the service! Love the chic feeling of it and how each space is decorated with a different piece of art. The conference room is even used as a rotating gallery. Love! Let's not forget the restaurant and bar that is attached downstairs. There is no gym but who needs one here when you are busy with everything else. John J. Jeffries is a great restaurant that tries to stay with local foods. If that is not satisfying for you, if you go a little further, there are additional chains of restaurants and eateries.

Yelp
All around great stay. The breakfast was decent and the room was clean. The bar/restaurant downstairs was excellent. Convient location with a lot to walk to and very convenient free garage parking on-site. Monica at the front desk was awesome! She went above and beyond.

Yelp
This is a comfortable alternative to traditional hotel chains. Location is convenient to downtown Lancaster making walking around town easy. If you do stay here you must reconfirm your reservations multiple times and make sure to check the fine print and be prepared for significant credit card holds or last minute changes.

Yelp
Extremely nice hotel with wonderful service. I was surprised by the complimentary rose and chocolates before bedtime. Very clean, a lot of fresh towels and very very comfortable beds. Rooms are spacious and decorated in a modern style. Centrally located and garage parking. Nice restaurant next door. Friendly staff and helpful.

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel where we stayed for four nights. The room was large (a deluxe king) and beautiful with very nice art on the wall. The staff was so helpful. It is a few minutes drive from downtown. And at the end of the day you get lovely chocolates from theSweet Shoppe and a rose

Yelp
From the time we checked in until the time we drove away we had an awesome time. Erica and the rest of the front desk staff couldn't have made us feel more welcome. We've stayed at oh-so-many similarly priced venues but have never felt more pampered that at the "Arts." Every minute of our get-away weekend was picture perfect, including the meals we had at both the John Jeffries (attached to the hotel) and "Checkers," located a short walk away. If you're looking for a romantic trip, you can't go wrong here. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
My Husband and I stayed here on a Friday night for a little "staycation" after his company Christmas party. This hotel is lovely and so neat to explore. It's a nice little gem in our own city. Very unique and of course artsy. Some really fun touches like a doodle pad and pencil in the room, and fun art at every turn. It's also in a nice location for walking around and exploring that part of the city. We had a standard room, with a queen size bed (which was plenty comfy). All the extras you need like free wifi, a flat screen tv, robes, coffee maker, etc. everything was clean and tidy. Front desk was pleasant. My only complaint was 1. Someone had the iPhone dock/alarm clock set at 6 am and so it started blaring extremely loudly long before we planned to be up. In our groggy state it was difficult to get turned off. I suppose we should have thought to check it the night before. And 2. There was a TON of noise/talking, by housekeeping, in the hall outside of our room very early that went on for quite some time. With 3 small kids we had really been looking forward to sleeping in! Definitely a hotel worth seeing and a local business to support vs the big chains!

Yelp
They have a round check-in desk, 3 masked employees were facing the entrance behind the desk. A voice from the back side of the station called to us saying she could check us in around the back. We followed the voice, only to see a seated woman, hidden from the front view, NO MASK. I asked whether she was required to wear one. She said no. It was incredibly uncomfortable to check in, and we stood back very far from her. I referred back to their Covid policies on the website, clear as day it said all staff would be masked. The manager said there was a health issue that prevented her from wearing a mask. How she is permitted to interact with guests, be the first impression of the hotel, and be alongside 3 other workers in a tight space is mind-boggling. One and done. RISKY, STUPID, UNPROFESSIONAL.

Yelp
I agree with most posters here that the hotel is very beautiful, the artwork is spectacular and the hotel has a unique look and feel. However, if you stay here, avoid the 1rst or 2nd floor, the noise from the bar and restaurant is terrible. We had a problem with a strong druse smelling odor on the second floor last night 3/15/14. The receptionist handled the problem right away and called her manager. Because of the smell and noise we were moved to the third floor which helped with the bar noise, but because the hotel is an old factory, the walls are thinner than most hotels I have stayed at, and the old wood floor make lots of noise from people walking . Because of the noise issue, next time I will go for a more standard hotel in the area, 200.00/night for all the problems I encountered is a bit much!
