"Modern tavern cuisine" is the name of the game in this family-run establishment, which has been in business for 12 generations in a quiet suburb of Ellwangen. At the helm is the son, Dennis Wiche, who has worked in several MICHELIN-starred restaurants. The menu comprises an abundance of appealing dishes, from regional classics such as Zwiebelrostbraten (roast beef with onions) and spaetzle to the chef's more modern creations, such as vitello forello. Be sure to try the house-made maultaschen! The chefs work only with the finest seasonal and regional produce – in fact, the restaurant had its own farm until a few years ago. In summer, you can dine on the terrace, which is sheltered from the wind. Overnight accommodation is available on site, in the hotel of the same name." - Michelin Inspector

It’s worth a stop for an excellent dinner. Everything is locally sourced, prepared with good care and presented very nicely. I had the small salad, the very nice fried blood sausage (recommend!) and the Zweibelrostbraten. All in all a place worth its money, service was also very friendly and everything feels relaxed. Only one thing that bothered me - that is smoking on the terrace from others when enjoying this superb kitchen, that should not be allowed - destroys the experience a bit - hence only 4 stars :) I’ll come back.

Nice, clean, quiet rooms (except for the two persons talking outside our window at 03am, which we are sure is a one-timer). Wonderful restaurant in the same place.

On the way of our travel from Nothern Germany to Switzerland by car, we stayed for one night over there. We got great impressions from a combination of old traditional style and modern facilities of the hotel. Traditional Swabian meals at the hotel restaurant were very delicious Highly recommended.

Cosy, comfortable rooms in a quiet setting near the A7 highway. Friendly staff and beautiful food in the restaurant. Great stop over.

This hotel is placed in a very small village surrounded by countryside and farming. The hotel building is new and very good-looking. Our superior room was large with a good bed and the bathroom very modern. The restaurant serves excellent modern German food for a reasonable price and with good servide. We were seated outside as the weather was good. The breakfast was more average for a German hotel. The wifi worked well.

Stayed in this country hotel for 1 night. Fantastic new nice looking and super clean hotel. The entrance is very nice, they used a lot of natural materials which gives the hotel a superb flair.|My room was perfect, with a modern bathroom very good mattress and pillow. The floor is a very thick and cosy carpet which looks not used at all. On the room there was a bottle of water for free as well. Appreciate that! The whole room looks brand new and super clean!|Breakfast is ok although I missed some warm sausages and some more vegetables. But the fresh custom made eggs were delicious.|Around the hotel there is enough space to park the car. |For me this is definitely a top hotel ... I will come back for sure.

Had a very pleasant 3 night stay. Septem er weather is superb.||The hotel is easy to access from main routes although public transport is limited.|The rooms are very comfortable, clean and leave you needing nothing.|The restaurant is exceptional.|One minor negative for me was a noisy wedding reception on the Saturday night, which I could hear even from my 4th floor room on the opposite side of the hotel. That and the flies...but it is an agricultural setting

Average hotel. In the so-called "classic" part the rooms and especially the bathrooms are somewhat shabby and worn-down. The mattresses too soft for my liking. Two times the restaurant that advertises being available until 10 p.m. was closed at 9 p.m. already. Rather disappointing - especially if you rely with your planning on that fact. Unfortunately during three separate stays the central boiler system was out of order - you can choose between showering either with ice-cold water or not at all. :-( But then not showering keeps you away from the mouldy and unhygienic parts of the shower stall!
