Cafe Landwer Review - Century City - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"One of its four U.S. locations and its sole California shop, this Tel Aviv-based chain has excellent brunch options that include an entire menu section devoted to shakshuka. The standard version comes as a silky smooth tomato sauce with two poached eggs and a side of nutty tahini and labneh. The original is always great, but sometimes we like to upgrade to the Med Shak with feta and roasted eggplant, or the Sinia Shak with tender beef kabob if we’re craving something heartier first thing. The great range of options make this an easy option for when we’re on the hunt for a casual brunch, but we also have a soft stop for their za’atar crusted pita bread." - Sylvio Martins

Landwer in other branches can be nice - but not in Azrieli. There was one waitress and one hostess, with dozens of tables, all busy. The food was underwhelming - the avocado toast was a bit of a joke, especially compared to how it is advertised. Overexpensive, bad service, long waits, underwhelming food. There are much nicer cafes in the area including plenty of kosher.

What an awful experience. I’ve ran restaurants in Florida/miami and I’ve never had an experience as much as a joke as this one. As any normal customer would want to speak to a manager when having issues with food (cold potatoes, after waiting 40 minutes for the food) and the manager told his employee that he didn’t wanna speak to us and to offer us a desert. Honestly hilarious. Makes sense as to why this place has 2.3 stars. If the manager can’t even accommodate paying customers how does he plan to run a Resturant in one of the busiest malls in Tel Aviv.

Instead of a refund, a waitress charged me twice. It happened on 26 December 2024, I asked the waitress for a cheese cake to take away, as I was in a hurry to catch my train. I paid for it and she ensured me it would be fast. It was a very long wait, and then the waitress told me they ran out of cheese cake, and that I can either order something else, or get a refund. As I was in a hurry, I asked for a refund, which I thought she made. But when I checked my card history a few days later, it turned out she charged me again (!!!) for the same cake. I tried to reach the cafe's customer service, but neither of the three numbers provided are working. I wrote a complaint on the website through their form, and didn't get any reply. What kind of customer service is this, and how come a waitress doesn't know how to do a refund?

I ordered a croissant which took forever to arrive and finally arrived hard and dry like wood so I had to cancel it. My daughter, a who is vegan, ordered a veggie burger and after waiting for more than 40 minutes we discovered that her order had not been registered. She ordered it again and it arrived after another delay in size of a kids' meal with a baked potato full of oil and for 72 shekels a very small meal that was neither filling nor tasty. Bad experience. Waste of time and money

Food was poor, and rudest staff I've seen in a long while. First they were out of everything I initially ordered (which my server was not aware of), then I ordered tea and got just a mug of hot water, no teabag. The final straw came when a server told me they're closing soon and I said I'm leaving in 5 min and she said fine. Then my server came _immediately_ to my table and asked that I leave. I said that the other server said I could stay 5 min and he said, "no we need to mop the floor" and "5 min is a lot of time". Only time in my life that a dining experience felt like bootcamp. Will never set foot in this cafe again.

Landwer is one of the famous coffee house in Israel. A little bit expensive but always good. Try the famous last dish: Rozalah. :)
