Lane Beach

A relatively quiet slice of beach geared towards children and dogs. I highly recommend swimming before or after the life guards are on duty (when the beach isn't "open") if you want to be in water deeper than 4 feet, because after 11 am you will not be permitted to go any further. Do be warned, if you attempt to swim when it's dark out, you will be shooed out of the water by police for your own safety.

Our favorite family beach in the city. Very clean!

Wonderful place to spend time alone as well as with family. Beautiful, clean and serene Beach. Looking deep into the lake, the sunrise and the horizon is like meditation. The ducks playing around un the water and in lawns nearby alongwith squirrels brings out the child in you. Lovely place indeed.

A small, overlooked beach on Chicago's north side. Doesn't get as crowded as other more popular beaches during the day. Very chill and peaceful at night.

Lane beach is the perfect beach for families. It's small enough and quiet enough to take small children. The beach is protected by a huge break wall and the water only gets to about 3 feet. There's a nice playground for the younger kids. Parking is a challenge though. (A few drone photos of the park/beach)

It was lovely! Gentle waves lapping at the shore. The water was so very blue with a wonderful contrast against the rocks and sand. There were ducks which just the sight of makes me happy. A very soothing pleasant experience.

Small neighborhood beach with an accessible ramp. Lovely pocket away from the crowds with a park for kids at the end furthest from the water. There are dedicated lifeguards also. No bathrooms or other amenities and it doesn’t connect to Osterman beach (there’s a rocky divide against a building the lifeguards won’t allow people to traverse), but it is a welcome respite from the crowds and noise of busier spots.

Lane Beach Park on Labor Day was a pleasant surprise. The water was warm enough for a refreshing swim! Even though it was super crowded, it was still really pleasant and great vibes all around. Plus, it's easily accessible by public transit. A short walk to Whole Foods and nearby restaurants made it convenient for grabbing beach snacks. A great spot!!

Beautiful small beach! Peaceful also, and water calm. And great place to watch the sunrise. I love taking walks here in the early morning; it's a awesome place for that, and meditation. There is also a playground for kids, and a book recycle box also, so you can read while your child or children play. Enjoy!
