The 31 Essential Restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

"Làng Nướng Nam Bộ is loud and boisterous, a favorite spot for local Vietnamese families. Large ceramic sculptures and bamboo announce the facade, while the interior is massive and deafening, with groups laughing, glasses clinking, and plates full of food being slammed on the tables. It’s been open since 1999, and people come from all over the city for the specialty whole-roasted baby suckling pig, served with fried baos. You can take your pick of fresh seafood too, and top it off with an ice-cold glass of Saigon Bia." - Linh Phan

A big restaurant with option to sit non air con or air con. The servers cannot speak English, order by pointing and showing pictures. The sucking pig is good and buns is hot and crispy on the toasted surface. Please note the serving size is good for 7-8 people for salads and spring rolls dishes. The beef hot pot soup is tasty but the beef slices were too thick.

We and our Hongkong friends had very good experience in this restaurant. They're quick and friendly. We 11 people had hotpot as well. Flavorful and good looking dishes.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable grilled meat feast in an authentic, no-frills setting, **Làng Nướng Nam Bộ** is an absolute must-visit. This place left such an impression on our group that we ended up having **both our dinners here** during our **3D2N boys’ golf trip**—because why fix what isn’t broken when the food is this good? ### **The Star of the Show: Roasted Pig with Crispy Skin** The **whole roasted pig** was a masterpiece—**crackling crispy skin** that shattered with every bite, revealing **juicy, flavorful meat** underneath. The perfect balance of fat and lean made each piece irresistible, especially when paired with their tangy, herbaceous dipping sauce. Hands down, one of the best roasted pigs we’ve ever had. ### **Awesome Roasted Pigeons – Small but Mighty** Don’t let their size fool you—these **roasted pigeons** were packed with insane flavor. The skin was **glazed and slightly smoky**, while the meat remained **tender and rich**, almost gamey in the best way possible. A must-order for anyone who loves bold, savory bites. ### **Live Sturgeon Two Ways – Grilled & in Soup** The **live sturgeon** was another highlight, prepared **two ways**: - **Grilled sturgeon**: Firm, meaty, and smoky, with a beautiful char that enhanced its natural sweetness. - **Sturgeon hotpot (soup)**: A light yet deeply umami broth, with silky sturgeon slices and fresh herbs—perfect for balancing out the heavier grilled dishes. ### **Local Vibes, Zero Tourist Traps** What made the experience even better? The crowd was **almost entirely locals**—always a good sign. No gimmicks, no inflated prices, just **honest, incredible food** that keeps people coming back. The lively atmosphere, paired with cold beers, made it the ideal spot for our post-golf feasts. ### **Final Verdict: 10/10, Will Return** Làng Nướng Nam Bộ isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a **culinary experience**. From the **crispy roasted pig** to the **succulent pigeons** and the **two-way sturgeon**, every dish was a winner. If you’re in Vietnam and want **real, unfiltered flavor**, this is the place. We’ll definitely be back on our next trip!

Loooove the atmosphere and service was great in our private room, BUT I was disappointed with the food. Some items lacked flavor while the others were too dry. I couldn’t eat the roasted duck or pig because it was tasteless and tooooo dry for my liking. I did like the snails/escargot, and the side of the shrimp were huge, but other than that, I was not a fan. Maybe it was the dishes I ordered, but I did not care for the food as much as I wanted too…

Not a great place if you are a tourist. None of the staff speak the language and do not engage well with Google Translate. Most of the dishes we asked them to bring they either said were unavailable or got us the wrong dish. The food quality was not great either. Best to avoid

The best restaurant of any kind in saigon located in district 10. Huge dining room areas with many VIP dining rooms. Delicious foods prepared fresh. Grilled fish on Charcoal is the best.
