L'Angle Saint-Laurent

You must have a reservation for dinner in Bayeux. Restaurants either open at 6:30 or 7pm and the majority of seatings seem to occur at 7 or 7:30. We were able to get a reservation for 8:30. On arrival, the restaurant was mostly empty. I thought perhaps there would be a second seating, but no. Guests just continued to leave until there were just a couple of tables left. My wife selected the set menu with fois gras, white fish, cheese, and dessert. I chose the smoked herring appetizer and the daily special of risotto. The food was tasty. With only a couple of tables left, service was very slow. Also, it was very awkward with staff clearing up, closing down for the night, and getting ready for the next day. Additionally, our bill was wrong. Not a big deal, 5 euros, but still it was wrong. I was charged for the fois gras instead of the herring, instead of the fois gras being included with the set menu.

We had a fantastic dinner here but felt a little let down in terms of service. We arrived slightly early and were asked to come back at the time of the reservation, which is perfectly acceptable. However, when we returned it took at least 10 minutes for anyone to ask us if we wanted to have a drink... Food was beautiful, very tasty and well presented but towards the end again the staff spent most time speaking to other customers (French probably) and we felt a bit ignored in our corner. Finally, for a place with a mentioning in the Michelin guide the toilets need some attention...

The staff was wonderful at helping us pick wine with food. Oysters were delicious starters. The chefs special was the best risotto I’ve ever eaten. It’s a leisurely French dinner curated to please your palate. Wonderful!

Let me share an experience that you absolutely cannot miss. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was captivated by the exceptional service and the food—oh, the food! It was nothing short of spectacular. Hats off to the chef, a Michelin star well earned! Having worked in the fine dining restaurant industry for quite some time, I thought I had seen it all. But this experience was a delightful surprise. The presentation, the taste—everything was flawless. The risotto was the best I’ve ever had, and the duck with polenta was simply divine. Every dish we tried was a masterpiece, and I couldn’t resist ordering more! If you’re looking for a dining experience that will leave you speechless, look no further. I would return to this restaurant time and again for a family dinner. Don’t just take my word for it; experience it for yourself! You deserve a culinary adventure that will leave you craving more.

This was by far our best meal in Bayeux. The set gastronomy menu was extremely good value for money & very generous portions. The restaurant was a little loud initially but I put that down to a number of large bookings but they had all finished and left prior to our mains & it felt a lot more intimate and relaxed after they had departed.

Coming back to say that this restaurant is definitely the best in Bayeux!!! Excellent. Service was on point. Gorgeous food presentation and excellent flavors. We loved our salad, foie gras, l’incontournable (smoked pork), and the duckling/cannettes. The apple desert was sublime. Best place in Bayeux. Highly recommend it and get a reservation!!

My partner and I had been looking forward to this dinner for days and were not disappointed. We both ordered the 4 course set menu and were each blown away by the quality of the food. The wine was also fantastic and overall, the evening was worth every Euro. I cannot recommend eating here enough if you find yourself in Bayeaux

I visited this restaurant during my Christmas trip in 2023 and still couldn't forget it now. The restaurant made Bayeux more colourful. The chef was very talented and friendly. The staff were nice too. My friend and me didn't book a table and we waited in rainy and cold weather outside the restaurant, hoping we could have a meal there. Luckily we had one and the chef and staff welcomed us warmly. The atmosphere was cozy and the chef would come by and ask about the food. We tried a dinner set and it was super delicious. We returned another night and had dinner there again. Definitely the best in Bayeux and I wish I could visit again.

Wow, what a treat in this charming Normandie village. While one might not expect to have a lot of dining options in Bayeux, you are in for a pleasant surprise. This restaurant has a corner spot on a side street with two dining rooms. We sat in the rear one at a lovely table with a banquet. You also have the option of a prix fixe or a la carte. Either way, it's a total bargain in my opinion. My husband started with some sort of raw fish preparation, the exact type I cannot recall. It was gorgeous in appearance and teaming with flavor. I opted for something lighter in the way of a salad. Who knew a salad could be so refreshing and creative?! I continued with the vegetarian theme and was blown away by the vegetables served with les cereales which was a mix of rice and quinoa. It was delicious and hit the spot after days and days of big meals on vacation. My husbands fish entree was also wonderful. We opted out of dessert but the ones we saw at neighboring tables looked quite nice. If you're in town or visiting the Normandy area, I highly recommend hitting this spot!

I understand this is a husband and wife owner and operated business. Must make reservation with a credit card 'deposit' to ensure your reservation. While we were there they turned away multiple parties without reservations. Small, quiet and nice area. Number of choices was limited as they use local fresh ingredients for menu. The beef filet was very tender and delicious; the wait staff ensured us the fries were made in a dedicated fryer which is important for my celiac gluten free hubby. She also brought out his sauce stating what was in it-nothing with flour. Others in our group had a pollock and another white fish which were delicious and beautifully presented.

Fabulous food, delightful service and interesting menu. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening here. In particular, the Paris Brest dessert brought back delicious memories.

I was able to snag a last minute reservation at L'Angle Saint Laurent before leaving the cute little town of Bayeux and it was arguably the best meal I had in all of France this past trip. Seriously. The husband/wife duo that's been running this place for the past eight years is focused, polished and running a tight little ship. I opted for the five course prefix menu and every dish was executed so perfectly. The best part, the set menu was 42 euro. Unreal. My Mother opted for the same menu but, ordered opposite mains so we could taste everything that was being prepared that evening. My favorites...the lamb medallions, chilled foie, turbot, chocolate dessert. The foie was was one of the best chilled lobes I'd ever eaten. So. Damn. Good! I also loved the fact that they had a nice wine list complete with splits (375mls or half bottles) which I think are perfect for prefix mune based restaurants. The Chablis and Bordeaux I ordered were spectacular! Lovely family owned business, killer food and a cool estetic. Make sure to reserve ahead before stopping by. It's an awesome restaurant. Visited from NY. It was the best meal we had in Normandy, and it's not close. Service was amazing. The space is also really nice -- very comfortable seats, quite good music, tasteful decor, etc. terrific and highly affordable wine list. Chatted with the chef, who was a great guy. I wish I found this place sooner. I could have eaten it for every meal we were there and avoided some otherwise pretty mediocre food. Can't recommend highly enough.

We spent 7 days scouring France for the best food we could lay our hands on. This place is it. Pay no attention to the small number of reviews. It's because few yelper Americans venture to this quaint little corner that sits slightly off the beaten downtown Bayeux path. First thing you'll notice is that this place is classy. Very classy. Your hostess speaks great english, and is poised, polite and friendly. This is French dining, where the details matter. This is the food that rocked our world: ENTREES Biscuit croustillant de rouget et livèche (Red Mullet): The sauce almost killed me, I barely resisted licking the plate. Poireau bio pané à la Catalane (Leek): This could not have been a leek, it tasted like fluffy, crunchy happiness PLATS Pièce de veau Normand prise dans le filet (Veal Filet with Gnocchi): If I could get these gnocchi at home I might try to sell them on the black market. Dos d'églefin laqué miel-sésame (I think?): This one I'm not quite sure what it was... some kind of amazing seafood in a cloud-like foamy sauce with bacon. I've twisted my wife's arm for 8 years to eat seafood and she said it was the best thing she ate in France. DESSERTS Dôme fondant chocolat-pailletine (Dark Chocolate with Vanilla Ice Cream): Chocolate that's more chocolat-y than you've ever tasted, with Vanilla that's more vanilla-y than you knew could be possible. With gold on top. Tartelette à l'orange (Orange Tart with Orange Sorbet): This is VERY important. If you don't take anything else away from this review, you must read this. Navigate to Orbitz.com. Buy a ticket to Paris. Drive to Bayeux. Walk in to L'Angle Saint Laurent and tell them you want the orange tart. Eat it slowly. You have never tasted orange like that because oranges don't reach that level of citrusness on their own. Take the time between each bite to realize that the Nepal pepper they added to the orange flavor to jack it into the stratosphere is literally illegal in the United States. Why? Who knows. Maybe because peppers that taste citrus-y are witchcraft. But after we tasted this miracle we read the menu carefully and started pouring through Wikipedia, which sent us on a weeklong hunt to try to find some and and smuggle it through customs (sorry Trump, we couldn't find it anywhere). To top it all off, our final bill rang in at 74 euro (we don't drink though). Should you eat here? Yes you should.

What a delightful evening and delicious dinner. The husband/wife team is fantastic and the food was excellent. More than just a meal...a wonderful experience!

We have one more night to go, but our favorite meal so far. Cozy and intimate, and staff was the friendliest. We were told by another hotel guest that the chef was a famous chef from Paris. I picked from the three course menu and my first selection was a squash curry soup with snails. It was delicious with no real hint of snails. The bread was delicious. They also served a mini biscuit coated with cheese that tasted like a popover. And another tiny taste of a fish bite that was excellent. My entree was smoked pork medallions with celery root. Excellent. Dessert was a chocolate panna cotta. It looked like a festive chocolate wafer cookie and when you pressed your fork into it, delicious creaminess oozed out from underneath. I would describe the meal as a surprise for your tease buds. Excellent!

I don't know why this place doesn't have any more five star reviews. We came here based on a recommendation from our local tour guide. She advised it was hands down the best restaurant in Bayeux and that the chef has vast experience from working in Paris at a six star restaurant. This was the best dinner we had while traveling two weeks through Europe. I'll post pictures, however with warning that they do not come close to doing the food justice. It was mouth watering. You just want to savor every single bite. We saw on the menu outside they offered a variety of scallop dishes (our favorite), however when we asked the waitress she said it was the end of scallop season and they just sold out at lunch so they would not be serving it for dinner. When she went back to get our wine, she had spoken to the chef, also her husband I might add, and he advised he had enough left to make two plates so my husband ordered the squash soup with scallops & truffles appetizer and I had the scallop with risotto meal. Everything we ate was absolutely incredible, the service was perfection and the atmosphere was comfortable. Unlike America, you don't have to dress formal to enjoy a fine dining experience. Nice jeans are always appropriate! I would recommend calling for a reservation the day before, but if you show up at 7 when they immediately open you may be lucky to get a table like we were!

This was our last restaurant of the 3 nights we spent dining at Bayeau. I have to say that the restaurant is very elegantly decorated in a simple understated way. We were initially given an amuse bouche of some kind of salmon pate that was delicious. The table again ordered foie gras to share and 2 of us got the local Normandy duck and 2 got the sea bass with gnocchi. All of the food was very understated in terms of seasoning as I think the chef likes the extremely fresh local ingredients to speak for themselves. We finished the meal by sharing a lemon biscuit topped with some creme and a lemon sorbet which was one of the best sorbets I had in my life. I would recommend this place.

Service was amazing. We got the set gourmet menu and highly recommend that. Standouts: Foie gras Duck Chocolate dessert We ended up spending about 125 euro with our two menus and a bottle of wine which isn't too bad for this type of place. Be careful on the cheese course if you don't like soft cheese. Would absolutely go back here and recommend it to anyone visiting. Pretty easy to get reservations in late May.

Very very good. This was our best meal in Bayeux. Ambience is understated eloquence, food presentation is excellent. Ingredients are fresh and well cooked. Wait staff is attentive, courteous. $$$

I have done only one or two reviews. So just me taking the time is remarkable. We were in France three weeks. This was my favorite place. So good we ate there two nights in a row. Seems like all French restaurants have good presentation. But the flavors, the variety, the service here were truly remarkable. You will not regret spending time here.

We found this place on our last night in Bayeux. The owners were very thoughtful, and the food was spectacular. I had the coquilles St. Jacques with lentils, which had a subtle smoky flavor and were incredibly good. My husband ordered the red mullet - also extremely good, and my daughter had a smoked pork dish that was out of this world. They started us off with gougères and a squash soup as an amuse-bouche - both wonderful. For dessert, we split the citrus cheesecake and a chocolate vanilla panna cotta. The decor was gentle, even the lighting, which can often be a bit harsh in French restaurants. Even the music choices were lovely - can't go wrong with Leyla McCalla! I'm so sorry it's our last night - we'd definitely go back!

Charming and elegant interior with adequate space between tables. Two fish options and two meat options. A few starter options. All creative and well executed dishes. Staff very attentive and competent. The owner and his wife are super nice and diligent. Wish we could return.

This has got to be one of the best meals of our entire trip! Innovative without being weird or fussy, delicious choices, top notch service, friendly staff, and truly delicious food!

Had an amazing meal here. Attention to detail at it's finest. Every item on the plate has purpose and tastes amazing.

A very charming restaurant with excellent regional food. The restaurant is intimate and comfortable and the service is attentive but not cloying. All of the food reflected a high degree of attention to the details. I had an excellent duck breast for the main, and it was perfectly prepared. The desserts were outstanding, and one amuse-bouche -- a carrot mouse with grated wasabi and tiny slivers of dried ham -- was so good we want to try to recreate it at home.

Absolutely delicious. We had a wonderful surprise looking for a place open Sunday night. Walked in and had a most delicious and interesting meal, beautifully presented. A few too many Americans, but this is a tourist town.
