A Food and Wine Lover’s Guide to the Loire Valley | Eater

"Langlois has been making award-winning Crémant de Loire for over 100 years. Founded in 1885, the winery makes sparkling wines in the traditional method, like its Crémant de Loire Rosé Brut. It’s a blend of cabernet franc and pinot noir, similar to a Blanc de Noirs but with a unique Loire character. The decadent, effervescent sparkler tastes of just-ripe wild strawberries, peaches, and cream. You can visit the winery, a 19th-century château with a view of the Loire River, from May to September. It offers horse-drawn carriage rides through the vineyard as part of the tasting experience and a tour of the underground cellar." - Lee Musho

Had a great experience at l'anglois Winery! The tour was informative and fun, and James was a fantastic guide- knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate. The caves were impressive and the wine tasting was generous and tasty. I highly recommend! I came alone and James was very friendly and made me feel part of the group :)

Excellent visit. We joined an English tour where we learnt all about the grapes used in the production, how wonderful is produced before starting the tour. Be aware there are 80 steps from the entrance up to the production area so not suitable for those with limited mobility breathing issues etc. The wine tasting was great - we tasted 4 sparkling and 3 still

It was a very welcoming place. James was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. The wine was beautiful. Would definitely recommend a visit - you get a decent variety of wine and sparkling wine for €5 per person.

I visited with my parents in May and it was amazing! We did the tour with James and his passion and knowledge was definitely a highlight of their trip! He was so great at explaining everything so they could understand it, a real professional who also did us a fantastic tasting. Thank you so much James and Langlois-Chateau I cannot recommend highly enough!

A special place with special wines! The tasting was great, and the red sparkling was our Xmas present, absolutely delicious!

The tour cost 5 euros. We booked a place in the morning for that afternoon, but on our tour there were spaces available for people turning up beforehand. Our guide, Pierre, was friendly and informative. The tour lasted about an hour - including a short description about how wine is made, a tour of the factory showing how automation has improved bottling techniques, and look around the caves. This was followed by a half hour tasting of 7 or 8 wines, which was included in the price. The tour cost is refundable if you purchase 3 bottles of wine. There is ample free parking outside the venue.

The 4-part experience was fantastic! It involved an in-depth lesson into making wine, a tour of the factory, a tour of the cave cellar and a tasting. For €10 per person, it was such good value for money as we tried 9 wines (a mixture of still and sparkling). Our tour guide was very informative and knowledgeable. A great experience - thank you!

Although Mathilde was only on her second professional tour guide we thought she was very well informed and enthusiastic about the wines and their production. She had some lovely little stories to add to her commentary which we will remember. We came back today to buy our favourite wine selection to take back home.
