The 38 Essential Milan Restaurants

"Langosteria is a temple to seafood, especially crustaceans. Since the first location opened in 2007, followed by a bistro nearby in 2012 and a cafe in the city center in 2016, Langosteria has established itself as a stronghold in the Milanese seafood scene, and rightfully so. With raw fish platters (make sure you choose the one with shrimp from Mazara del Vallo), seafood-topped pastas, and Catalan-style main courses, Langosteria manages to deliver an upscale experience without the cold formality usually associated with high-end seafood restaurants." - Elizabeth Jones, Angelica Frey

Langosteria

"If you are looking for fish specialities, you will find this restaurant a real revelation. Raw dishes, oysters and seafood take pride of place on the menu, alongside freshly caught fish. An excellent wine selection and a glamorous ambience complete the picture." - Michelin Inspector

Langosteria in Milan was incredible! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was elegant but relaxed, and the service was top-notch. Honestly, it deserves a Michelin star it’s that good. Highly recommended!

Google
The food was great- so many options for seafood. We really enjoyed all the dishes down to dessert. the wine list was extensive and impressive. But I would generally rate this restaurant a 3.5 because the service was horrible. We’re well aware that we have our table for only 2 hours but each dish we had, we were practically rushed to eat. My companion was even still enjoying the sauce of the shrimp with the bread it was served with (as suggested by the other server) but the one who kept clearing our table kept standing by and hurriedly would remove our plates. This was so frustrating and caused such a negative experience for me. Trying this ONCE was enough but I can’t say it left a good impression for me to want to go back. Many other restaurants in Milan that would match great service for the price you’re paying for anyway.

Returning to Langosteria after ten years, I was once again deeply impressed. The service, hospitality, and quality of ingredients remain top-notch, while the atmosphere has settled into an even more refined calm. It may not be as bustling as before—perhaps a sign of the times— but it’s still the finest seafood restaurant, with the finest ingredients.

Google
Incredible upscale restaurant in Milan. Our friends who live here said it’s the best Milan has to offer. It was our first time, and we tried the tasting menu which was 7 courses and gave you a taste of everything. Would definitely recommend and look forward to coming back!

This restaurant offers a refined setting with a clear focus on high-quality seafood. It maintains a sophisticated yet understated atmosphere, suitable for both business dinners and special occasions. The menu is centered around fresh fish and shellfish, with a mix of raw and cooked dishes. Execution is precise, and the quality of ingredients is evident throughout the meal. The wine list is extensive. Service is discreet and professional, contributing to a smooth and well-managed dining experience. While the price point is on the higher end, it aligns with the standard of food and service provided. All in all, I find it a solid choice for those seeking an elegant seafood-focused meal.

Google
Recommended by a friend, we showed up without a reservation and were lucky to get two seats al banco, which turned out to be a great experience. The place was absolutely packed on a Monday night, a clear sign that this is currently the place to eat in Milan. We enjoyed a fantastic selection of dishes: the Polpo Galizia alla brace, Tiepido di mare, Tagliatelle di mare, and Capesante alla brace. All beautifully prepared and full of flavor. We finished with the Meringa con panna e fragole and a classic Tiramisù, both excellent. The decor is elegant and lively, the food was delicious, and the service attentive and professional. Prices are on the higher side, but expected for a place of this quality in Milan. We had a great time and will definitely be back. To be repeated!

Google
We had a lovely dinner. Very high quality establishment. Pricey but you get what you pay and more. We had to try the a Langoustine dish. Buttery sweet. Also had a smoked squid pasta which was perfection layers and depth of flavour with the just right balance of pasta to sauce.

Google
Much of the restaurant is perfect. It’s sumptuous and buzzy with exemplary staff. The fish (there are other options) is fabulously fresh. It’s on the pricey side for Italy - but probably worth it. My only niggle is that when we arrived late they did make a big song and dance about releasing the table as required. This would have been fine had the restaurant actually needed it - but that was far from the case, as they had abundant table when we left. Complimenting the niggle was that we had been placed in a busy table, when a secluded and calmer table 2m from us remained vacant all evening. So -1 for this. But still well worth the visit.

Yelp
Great seafood!! First of all, there's multiple restaurants under this name. We went to another one at first and they directed us to the right one. We got the seafood tower for two and two dishes. Everything was super fresh and delicious! They do give you lots of sauces (something quite rare in Italy) lol. Also comes with free bread and they'll give you oil and vinegar if you ask. Highly recommend the seafood tower and the toro!! Even the cauliflower under it was delicious. Got the passion fruit mousse for dessert & loved it as well! I'll definitely be recommending this place to others!

Yelp
This place needs to re-invent itself. We were told that "don't leave Milan without going here". The food is sophisticated but WAY overpriced, crowded and not enough space between tables. And the food didn't taste good enough to justify the crazy prices. They made a big deal of showing us the fish they were going to cook us. I still left hungry. What about a simply grilled piece of fish?

Yelp
5 star experience. Pricey but worth it . Great for a special occasion. Excellent staff & food plus a terrific wine list. More of a date place or for special occasions.

Yelp
I am biased because I am a big fan of all Langosteria's restaurants but they are just all simply fantastic: the food is amazing and the service is even better. This is the flagship, original Langosteria and is a really big restaurant (the manager told us it seats more than 150 people) but because of the set up it feels really cosy and the staff makes you feel like you are in a family dining room. A family dining room with really good food that is! I wondered if they put crack on the dishes because all of them are simply fantastic. From the seafood tower which contains the freshest and best variation of shrimp, clams, bulots and more over the absolutely scrumptious mains to the great desserts. I am not really a dessert person but their tiramisu is airy, tasty and very pretty. I am a believer, highly recommended and will certainly go back!

Yelp
My favorite Milan restaurant for atmosphere, service, presentation and incredible food.

Yelp
This was the worst dinner that we have had in our 2+ week Italian vacation to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary from Rome to Florence to Venice and now Milan. This place was highly recommended by every fine dining website yet It was just SO mediocre in every way from the service to the tasting menu (that we only eat half of) and decided to leave because we were so disappointed. DO NOT GO HERE!!! Very overrated!!!

Yelp
The service by Milton and Shoid was just outstanding in every way!!! Milton, our server, brought the cuisine quickly and recommended a Norwegian lobster and pasta dish in a tomato cream sauce that was absolutely delectable!!! He was very genuinely friendly and courteous! Milton answered all the questions I had about the menu. He brought us a delicious complimentary appetizer with clams and fresh tomato sauce. My husband ordered large fresh prawns from Sicily. I practiced my not so good Italian with the server, Milton. The beauty of the Italians is that they welcome you speaking their language even though Italian is a very new language for me. The bread was complimentary and also yummy! Milton made sure that our anniversary dinner was just amazing!!! He served us complimentary chocolates in a box and Italian gelato that were in the skins of the original fruit-wow for taste sensation! The ambiance is both romantic and ready for Christmas. The lighting is dark but one can see their meals. Kudos to the chef!!! Enrico, one of the managers, was very friendly as well!!! He was very welcoming. The head manager was thrilled that we throughly enjoyed everything about this intimate restaurant in Milan. The hostesses were so very friendly as well!!! Make sure to make a reservation months in advance. You should take a taxi to this Michelin restaurant. All in all this is the best seafood ristorante that we have ever dined at for many reasons!!! Langosteria Ristorante is my new favorite place to dine!!! Thank you so very much, Milton!!! Grazie!!! Please ask for Milton as your server because he was amazing at his profession as a waiter!!!

Yelp
The staff were rude and seemed annoyed when we asked questions regarding the menu. There was a $10 cover charge that we were not made aware of when we made the reservations to begin with. The charge would have been fine had we been made aware of this but there was zero transparency here. The only thing that was good was the spicy margarita, the tomato based soup with clams that was supposed to be "compliments of the chef", and the doorman. The atmosphere was upscale however the food and service did not reflect this.

Yelp
Food was excellent- service was terrible, tne waiter has too many tables and is unable to refill a wine glass, respond to a request, finally I asked for my bill to tne waiter several times and noting, I asked the manager nothing, the only way I could get a bill was to attempt to leave. While the food is worth the effort for the reservation the service is not. Having spent 5 weeks in Italy this was the worst service of any restaurant in any city I visited.

Mike R.

Yelp
There are things to like about this place. The atmosphere is intimate and clubby, almost New York-ish. The fresh fish display that greets you when you enter is impressive. From there, it's all downhill. A seafood restaurant with one white wine available by the glass? Really? I had grilled Dover sole and my wife had prawns. Both were OK, nothing special. Neither came with any accompaniment of any kind, not even a garnish! We ordered a bottle of wine, which our server ignored throughout the meal. We served ourselves, as did other patrons having wine. The worst part was the service. Shouldn't your server guide you to the best dining experience the restaurant can offer? Our waitress was an order taker, and an unsmiling one who treated our lack of Italian as an enormous burden. At one point, my wife leaned over and said, "I don't think she likes Americans very much." Milan is a great restaurant city. There are many, many better choices than this.

Jason L.

Yelp
One of the freshest seafood restaurant in Milan I've tasted so far, not even too expensive compared for what you get and the service is just at Michelin level.

Yelp
DO NOT EAT HERE. I got the worst food poisoning imaginable. If I can spare one person the pain and hassle I went through, this review is worth it. I had to see a doctor and spent the first three days of my honeymoon sick and in a hotel room. I am still not recovered and am on antibiotics just to fight off the bacteria carried in their food.

Yelp
Overprice. If you don't mind spending a fortune for your food, is the place to be. Good for business meeting. Good food, excellent sea food. Great wine. But definitely you can fin something cheaper with great quality as well, in Milan.

Yelp
Small but upscale restaurant in the Design District of Milan. As the name suggests, it is a seafood place. It s narrow restaurant but extends pretty far since the restaurant kept expanding - a good sign? Wine cellar is visible through floor-celing glasses. Went and had dinner for two and we had about 4 different type of tartars, all of which were amazing. They start with lighter fish and we even had a white fish with fois gras on top. The servers are very knowledgeable and definitely recommend the courses to you - which I seriously appreciated. the portions are small but after 4 different tartars it was hard to get through all of the white sea bass we ordered as the main (salt-baked 'branzino' which is common in most milanese restaurants). The oysters were also fresh. Overall an amazing place for a date night, family dinner.

Yelp
The food is beautiful but the service was horrible and ruined our night. They made us very upset by not allowing us to have our table when we were 15 minutes late. We sat at the very uncomfortable and awkward bar at the entrance instead and finished two courses well ahead of the time limit. I have not complained to a restaurant in over 5 years but I did so on this occasion and it took me two tries to get the service charge removed. How classy. They are ridiculous and lacking in emotional intelligence.

Yelp
Small but very nice restaurant in Milano. Obviously, the preferred food is seafood and their sprcial is oyster as starter. The courses are not to big and it is therefore possible to have three courses without being completely full. Also the seafood pasta dishes are fresh and good.
