A group of friends and I came here and we really enjoyed the food! The interior is lovely - Spacious, with pretty pink blossoms and round paper balls on the ceiling. There is a brick wall, light bulbs, lanterns, candles on the table and bar area in the front. Very chilled, relaxed atmosphere.
The menu is quite large and I went for something basic and lower cost: Montague's Fried Rice, which was $14. However, thanks to my friends I was also able to sample the curry puff, coconut fried shrimp and crispy basil duck. Out of all of them, my favorite was the crispy basil duck.
Montague's Fried Rice consisted of brown rice (which I prefer over white rice), with eggs, onions, scallion, tomato and Chinese broccoli. I chose shrimp as my meat. The fried rice was so incredibly flavorful and packed with all fresh ingredients. The shrimp was large in size and very juicy and yummy!
The crispy basil duck was made with basil sauce, along with onion, bell peppers, and chili. It is labeled as spicy, but I didn't think there was too much heat. The duck was perfectly and delightfully crispy. The sauce had a strong basil flavor and was soo good!
Coconut fried shrimp was just the right amount of crunchy and the coconut complimented it well. The curry puff had a melt in your mouth, slightly crumbly outer shell and the chicken, potatoes, and onion inside was well seasoned and tender.
For dessert, my friend ordered the green tea cheesecake, which was decent. It was smooth and creamy with delicate notes of green tea mixed with cream cheese.
Service was great throughout and I would come back to try one of the Chef's Selections entree which is between $17-$29, such as the Nightingale Nest, Garlic Duck or one of the whole fish options. There is also a dessert of coconut ice cream with red bean and tons of other sweet toppings that I need to try!
