The 13 Best Pizza Places In London

"If it’s good enough for Julia Roberts in Eat Pray Love, then it’s good enough for us. This Soho restaurant is one of two London branches of the famous pizza shop in Naples, and serves tasty Neapolitan pizzas with the perfect ratio of marinara to cheese. You can get them topped with whole balls of burrata, or king prawns and fresh mussels, but our favourite is the margherita with buffalo cheese. The pizzas are simple, with lightly charred crusts and a puddle of tomato sauce in the middle. With two levels and cushioned seating, it’s the kind of spot you’ll happily spend a couple of hours in.     " - rianne shlebak, heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, daisy meager, sinead cranna

L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele Soho - Review - London - The Infatuation

"If it’s good enough for Julia Roberts in Eat Pray Love, then it’s good enough for us. This Soho restaurant is one of two London branches of the famous pizza shop in Naples and serves tasty Neapolitan pizzas with the perfect ratio of marinara to cheese. You can get them topped with whole burratas or king prawns and fresh mussels, but our favourite is the margherita with buffalo cheese. Simple, with lightly charred crusts and a puddle of tomato sauce in the middle, you’ll understand why the original Naples spot made it to the big screen. L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele Opens New Naples Pizza Restaurant in Soho | Eater London

"A Naples pizzeria that became a worldwide phenomenon after appearing in Eat Pray Love, it is opening a new London restaurant by taking over the former patisserie premises on Old Compton Street in Soho. The brand already operates a London site on Baker Street and previously had a Stoke Newington location that was later separated from the franchise following a protracted licensing dispute between the brand’s licensing company, Michele in the World, and the franchisees. Its classic margherita is celebrated for using the same tomato and mozzarella as in Naples and for the “famous stretch”: the dough is pulled and pinched over a wooden paddle until the base is almost paper-thin, then baked for about a minute to produce a charred, misshapen pie that’s often too big for its plate or box — a rustic randomness that fans consider central to the experience. There is no confirmed opening timeline; the announcement leaned into playful branding by grafting John Lennon onto its imagery." - James Hansen

The sourdough pizza was nice but there was a lack of structure, possibly due to amount of oil, and you had to eat with a knife and fork. The pizza options were good but considering the price the taste wasn’t all there but the size was. The pizzas were massive. The meat on ours didn’t have too much of a taste. Service was decent but had a confusing interaction with a waiter. If you like big pizza that is on the oily side, this is for you.

Absolutely amazing Pizza! We know this Pizza from the franchise in Dubai so we came twice late in the evening when all the other restaurants were closed and this was so fantastic! Absolutely fabulous Pizza! Probably the best Pizza ever. Service wasn’t bad at all either, quite friendly service. Obviously a very relaxed and chill place that we wouldn’t choose on date night but fabulous for a late night bite. Wouldn’t recommend the dessert or anything besides the Pizza actually. One very nice touch is that almost all the servers actually spoke Italian here.

Service was rubbish Asked for truffle fries, got regular fries and the server who looks like a South Asian/Middle Eastern member of staff just came over and dumped truffle oil on our remaining fries instead of making a new one. We asked for two takeaway boxes, gave only one. I asked if this store uses San Marzano as the menu did not specify, to which the same server said yes, but it does not taste like it. I have eaten San Marzano tomatoes and tomato sauce many times, this is bland and sour, the server doesn’t seem honest. No where near the one in Naples.

Was curious to try L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele in London after having discovered this restaurant in Bergamo (IT) - the pizzas were nearly as good (esp. the Siciliana), and the tiramisu was delicious. Food & atmosphere: 4/5, the service 5/5.

One of the best Neapolitan pizzas in London. Tasted better than their branch in Naples. We just walked in. We didn’t need to book it online.

Pizza and service were good, we shared a pizza between two for lunch which was perfect as the pizzas are massive. Owner chatting away in Italian and was friendly when we arrived. Good spot to pop into when I’m Soho.

It seems my previous review has been removed so I'll review taking my two visits into account. FOOD The pizzas are some of the best in London according to my Italian wife. We still prefer Napoli on the Road, Vasiniko, Crisp and Alley's Cats but this spot ranks at a solid 5. The USP here is really the size of the pizzas as they are huge, rarely seen a bigger one. Now I'll caveat that they are light so you can easily still order one per person. I feel like they could make a better effort to have toppings across the entire pizza instead of us counting how many pieces of aubergine is on the pizza. But overall taste is a solid 9/10. SERVICE/STAFF They don't do bookings but we managed to get a table for 5 within a few minutes. The 1st floor has a nice amount of space. First time I went, service was quick but the second time I went, we waited 45min for the pizza. Staff are not Italian which removes from the experience in my opinion but they are fairly friendly.

This pizerria has some of the best pizza you could ever try. Very similar to its conterpart in Napoli. The flavours take tou back to Napoli where it all began. The staff were very warm welcoming and accomadative, specially Roberta. I think she said she was new there but she had a very kind heart and was very helpful. The only issue was that it was a small place and we were a big group so found it hard to get a table but thanks to the wonderful staff we managed to. Wouldn't recomend for large groups
