Such an amazing value and great flavors! My favorite noodle soup!!! House Noodle soup- $11.75, comes with the bone! Lots of tripe too. My favorite! Beef Sautéed Noodles- $13.75 great ratio of veggies, beef, and noodles. Pork and Leek Pan Fried Dumplings- $6.00 for 8 pieces, so good and they are pretty BIG sized. You also get a lot of sauce options like the vinegar, soy sauce, hot sauce, chili sauce, and a few others I’m not familiar with.

Been here 3x and I'm satisfied everytime a visit. Dumplings are so good and the Hand Pulled Noodles is treat! Came here almost two years later and it’s just as good. The noodle soup portions have gotten bigger! Fresh hand-pulled noodles with seemingly endless toppings. I could come here everyday! ————————————————————————- I am in LOVE. This place is such a gem. If you want good, hearty Chinese food, this is the place to go. Not only was the food PHENOMENAL, the prices were unbeatable. The portions are more than generous. My soup was so packed with different toppings that it took me a minute to find the actual noodles. The dumplings were so fresh! You could see the chef hand-making the dumplings. I seriously can’t wait to come back here.

Lao Bei is such a nice spot to get a quick lunch or dinner! The prices are low and the amount of food you get is insane. If you are a dumpling fan, their dumplings are different than gyoza that other places have; it has a much thicker skin and definitely feels heartier. The noodles are hand-pulled and have the perfect texture, and they do not skimp on the toppings. There is chili oil on every table that you can feel free to add on, I think it adds a very nice flavor to it. They also sell packs of 50 frozen dumplings, I try to make sure I always have them in stock when I come. The only thing is that the boiled dumplings do take a bit of time to come out, which is probably because they cooked to order; not a complaint but just an FYI in case you are limited on time.

I drop by here whenever I want a quick and filling bite. The food is priced very well for the portion size, and the quality is good. Service is pretty quick, even when there's a long line. If you're looking for convenient spot for hand pulled noodles, this is the spot.

Love their noodle soups. My dads go to. Tried the steamed vegetables dumplings which were just ok. I know it steamed and vegetables. Their pork fried dumplings are much better. Nothing fancy. No waitress service but cheap and delicious.

This place is known for its hand pull noodles. It is a small place with seating with about ten tables and some side seating. We ordered spicy lamb with clear noodles, and wontons with hand pull noodles, and steam dumplings that comes with eight per order. The lamb soup had thinly slice lamb and spicy Sichuan peppercorn, and assorted vegetables, the wonton soup came with hand pulled noddles with plenty of wontons the noodles nice and chewy, the dumplings we ordered was steamed it is better if fried, found the dumplings skin was too thick, one of the dumplings had just a piece of filling, we notify them and they apologize and gave us two fried dumplings for the mistake. That was very good customer service.

11/10 What have I been missing out on all of my life? Growing up in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, I have been a loyal fan of Kai Feng Dumpling House and have refused all others -- Vanessa Dumpling was just fine, and the ones around Colombus Park in Chinatown were good, but nothing could hold a candle to that side-street hole-in the wall on 48th street. I was proven wrong when I finally made it out to Elmhurst for Lao Bei Fang. I was really really skeptical, assuming this would just be your standard fare, but I was wrong. For 5.50$, I got 8 of the crispiest dumplings I'd ever had in my life. They weren't the shape I was used to -- they were more squarish than I'm used to (I usually go for the longer kind), but the bottom of each was PERFECTLY crisp with a 5 mm layer of crunch; think bottom of the pot, burnt rice layer. Each dumpling also came with that fatty soup oozing out of it, which was the perfect balance to the succulent and flavourful meat inside. My mouth is watering as I'm writing this. Don't do what I did and stop at 8 -- go for more. You'll thank me later.

Nice, quick lunch in Elmhurst area. I went here on a friend's recommendation and because the place I stay in this time for my NYC trip is walking distance. CASH ONLY. On the menu, they have a variety of items including dumplings and noodles. While the menu has dumplings by the 8 pieces, I was glad to see they showed a price chart (price per dumpling fairly constant across quantities) and they offered a 4 piece option. That makes it easy for me to try both the dumplings and noodles without having leftovers. I got the fried pork and leek dumpling 4 pieces and the beef hand pulled noodle soup. The dumplings were good though I wished there was a bit more crispiness to it, because you can easily tell it is fried, but if there is not much crispiness and flavor, then the additional grease I consume is not as worthwhile. The noodles were very good, especially since it was hand pulled in house, but the soup needs a bit more flavor. There are subtle hints of beef flavor carried forth in the meat itself, though I'd love to see more. The tripe, tendon, and beef meat itself were solid - they might have mixed up my order as I wanted just the regular beef hand pulled noodle soup, but it is all good as I got the opportunity to try the other sections of the beef. Service is minimal - everything is self serve, which is very okay because it helps cut down on costs for a great value meal ($13.50 which included tax total, then I tipped some of my change on top). There is no water or tea in the counter, so it was a good call that I brought my own water bottle. You pick up the food yourself and seat yourself, and then once you are done, you bus your own table and place dirty dishes at the top of the garbage can area.

Love their stir fry hand pulled noodles as well as their spicy soups. Make sure you try their mixed cold appetizers like the chilled beef tendon, tripe, or pig ears. Also have a very sweet and garlicky cucumber. Their dumplings are very crispy and packed with juicy filling. The decor is a dive but the food more than makes up for it.

I love this place for its veggie hand pulled noodle soup. They have lots of tables and chairs that can be rearranged for groups, or you can share with another soul. The front counter person will assist you with your selection if you need something different. For example, I wanted a chicken hand pulled noodle soup without the brown sauce and they were able to provide a veggie hand pulled noodle soup with a side of cooked chicken breast (see pics). I lifted the chicken breast from the white bowl and placed it into the black soup bowl when there was ample room to do so. At the very end of the counter before the kitchen is where the hand pulled noodle magic happens! Sometimes you get to watch it being crafted. It looks like hard work but it certainly pays off with everyone's love of your hand pulled noodles. They have takeout and I'm not sure about delivery options. I didn't catch anything on their menu but maybe with GrubHub or Seamless or other food delivery services you can find what you're craving here. They have pictures on the menu and the wall so it's easy to decide what to get. They have a fridge with water and sodas to choose from as well. Sitting facing the windows has its perks at sundown. The sunset is visible and beautiful. A lot of cold/flu/covid sick people also come here to get soup, so be mindful if you're concerned about others' and your own well-being, and bring or wear a mask. Happy eats!

Much better than how it was 8 years ago. It did get a bit cleaner and the decor around looked much nicer. I had the beef noodle soup and fried dumplings and it was pretty standard and filling. Definitely will come back again.

Stopped by for a quick bite. The noodle soup portions are HUGE. I tried the spicy beef noodle soup and had to portion it out to two meals. Their dumplings are also quite flavorful. Quick service.

Took my son out to try new places and we came across this place that we haven't try yet around this area. After I tried them I wish I had tried them earlier! I got the tripe and tendon mix ramen noodle soup . My son got the veggies ramen noodle soup. First thing notice is that they give you a big portion compared to other places . They give you so much noodles !!! Which in my opinion is a plus. Further more the price was extremely reasonable considering what other places charge these days. The place is self serviced type of restaurant which means you clean up after yourself after u eat. It usually means You don't need to leave any tip if you don't want to but I still left some tip in the tip jar. The noodles came out relatively fast . Definitely a spot for cheap but good eat!!

My partner wanted some handdrawn noodles at an affordable price. So, introduced his to a childhood staple in Elmhurst. The only draw back that it is CASH ONLY. Food:5/5 Honestly, you can't go wrong here. But my favorites are: - Beef Handdrawn noodle soup - Pork and Chive Dumplings - Stir Fried noodle with Vegetables They pack in the noodles so, if you order all of the above, you will need to take some home. However, you are never paying $50 for two. Service (counter & take away service only) : 5/5 Super convenient, if you forget to get cash, there is an atm at the entrance. This is an Asian restaurant, so service is straight to the point (aka: no small talk). It's not personal. You can sit down wherever you see a seat. They are quick at making orders and just try to listen for your number to be called. I have always felt comfortable there, eating out or to go. All in all, my go-to when I am in Elmhurst and need some thick noodles.

For as much as I would love to support small businesses, I need to be honest for hopeful improvement of this place. First off, the food feels unfinished, almost like they just missed the mark with giving it that extra "mmmphf" before putting it out to their guests, which is confusing to me for several reasons. I had the sautéed chicken noodles which had hardly any flavor, despite the multiple vegetables and inclusions in to the dish. It was also strange to me how much it felt hard in my stomach after working my way through probably a quarter of the dish... and it was painful. I can't tell if it's from the grease or something, but I don't usually get these pains from these dishes, so I'm not sure what was bothering me. I hope that the kitchen staff can take these comments into consideration, since I'm really not sure if I'll returning.

This restaurant is located in a pretty busy intersection in Elmhurst. This section of town is also crowded by a great number of establishments of various sorts... guess I had seen this place but never realized what it was. The place does not look the cleanest. Has mess hall type of seating. No table service. Spice table right next to garbage can. We took our food to go. They asked if we wanted our soup packed separately from our noodles (which any respectable Asian noodle house would automatically do). We got home is less than 15 minutes. The noodles were completely cold (I figured that maybe they don't pack you piping hot noodles to go because they'd be overcooked and soggy by the time you get to eat them?). Found the dumplings a bit too salty (but the kids liked them). The "hot oil" wasn't spicy at all. I remember having this type of food in Brooklyn and even a few blocks up (in Elmhurst) and the other restaurant's broth was much tastier. I hope this is not coming across as me bashing this place. Just giving my honest opinion. And keeping with the truth, I will say that they do give you a good amount of food for what you pay. Where can you get 8 meat dumplings for $5.50?! And the noodle dishes (which btw, we ordered different ones and they all pretty much tasted the same) were just ~$10-2.

I had the pleasure of going to Lao Bei Fang today, and let me say that for 17.50, this was a steal. The pork and leek dumplings were super juicy and tasted amazing with their hot chili oil. Let's talk about the beef tendon noodle soup broth. It was very savory with lots of tendon and beef chunks. The noodles are handmade as well , definitely recommend coming her for a fast casual expierience with good food.

This is THE hand pulled noodle shop. They make the noodles in front of you; perfect "hole in the wall", "no frills" place. Ive eaten in once and gotten take out a handful of times. They PACK that box. One order is usually 2 meals for me because thats how much food they give. The noodles are doughy, with a bite and the soup is perfect. They speak minimal english but the menu is in English and you can point if you dont speak Cantonese or Mandarin. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for delicious noodles on a cold day. My favorite dishes are the beef tripe tendon hand pulled noodles and the little spicy glass noodles with beef, vegetables and tendon.

If I lived closer, I'd be there on a regular basis. Many of my other Yelp friends have given rave reviews, and Lao Bei Fang has been on my bookmark list for yearssss, but this is the first time I've actually gone. Now this place is on my "fave places" bookmark list...cause now I know, too! Superficially, from the outside, it doesn't look so special. But once you start to peruse their menu, you start to think, hmmm, this place is the real deal! (See my photo of their menu). The guy making the fresh hand-pulled noodles on the spot, seals the deal! I literally got to see him make my noodles! They were perfection. The guy's forearms were pretty amazing also! hahaha :) On my first visit, this is what I ordered: - Pork & Leek Fried Dumplings (#1) $4.75/8pcs: these were fantastic. Real comfort food. It didn't even need any sauce. - Sauteed Pork Hand-pulled Noodles (#49) $10.75: This was so flavorful and the noodles were perfection. The noodles had the right texture and chew to it. I was eating this order for 3 meals...huge portion! So satisfying and tasty! I'm definitely ordering this again. Next on my radar: Hot & Spicy Soup ($10.75) with either Beef Tendon & Tripe (#6), or with Lamp Chop (#13). Both sound delicious. Yelper GrubAdventuresD warned me not to get spicier than "medium spicy" since I may not be able to tolerate that level of spicy. And let me tell ya, I have a very high tolerance for spicy foods, but I will definitely NOT get spicier than "medium spicy"! You've been warned! Haha I was also advised that eating this soup in-house is much better than doing takeout. Customer service is very friendly and patient. This is not a waiter service restaurant. It's more self order/self serve. There is a sauce area where you can help yourself to dumpling sauce, soy sauce or chili oil...definitely get the chili oil! This place is always really busy when I'm there and it's also self service. The food is always on point, it can get a bit spicy so be careful.

Looks can be deceiving. Both exterior and interior is nothing to brag about, simply look like many other take out joint with some tables scattered but the amount of foot traffic is insane and many for their famous Pork & Leek Potstickers. They do serve noodles and such but the main event is the Potstickers These potstickers are made in huge batches and since so many people buy (sold in increments of 4), they are always fresh, hot, juicy with perfect golden crispy crust. Don't forget the hot oil and dumpling sauce. This is definitely a must try if you're in Elmhurst area. Street parking after 7pm is easier and free. There's no tipping and it's self service.

Really large portions, great value. Dumplings are pretty big and meaty. Flavor of the dumplings is on the bland side, but they do have a lot of meat and are very traditional. Lots of protein in their noodle bowls, they really do not skimp. Great and filling meal for the price in a no frills dine in experience!

This place is a staple for the neighborhood and having grown up around here I've eaten here many times. In short the dumpling quality has gone down since they moved to this location but the noodles continue to reign supreme and provide some of the chewiest freshest flavor you'll find around town. You can't go wrong with getting the beef noodle soup or some other variation of noodle soup and I also highly recommend getting those stirfried noodles. Not only do they have the chewy al dente fresh hand pulled quality but these noodles are stacked with flavor with fresh vegetables and herbs that give a good deal of fragrance and textural differences, more than your typical stirfry noodle and have thin slices of meat that are almost jerky like but mostly salted and packed with umami. When I have friends visiting I try to bring them here for stirfry noodles. Unfortunately the dumplings used to be really great from this place and they're still pretty good if you buy them frozen since they make them by hand and you can make them at home. Unfortunately it's very hit or miss with whether or not you can get them fresh in store and the last handful of times I've gone the dumplings were definitely ones that have been sitting out for a while. However they are quite chunky and meaty and if you can get them fresh they are juicy and deep in flavor - the meat must be particularly well sauced

Any of the noodle dishes are worth trying. All the noodles are homemade and you'll see the man making them from scratch from behind the counter. The pork buns are massive and delicious. the steamed dumplings are a little slippery, but fried dumplings are also an option. All the portions are very generous, especially for the affordable price. The place gets packed easily since it's small inside, but the lines and crowds clear out quickly. It's setup for more of a takeout style, but you can definitely eat inside. They take card but cash is preferred. There's an ATM at the door !

The food is great, the service is fast, as in fast food venue. The ambiance is not great. It's really a hole in the wall type of business with cheap eats, however they have the best dumplings in the neighborhood, the noodle soups are good too and very filling.

It pains me to give this place 2 stars but honestly the food was pretty poor quality. I had the fried dumplings, scallion pancakes, wonton noodle soup and beef noodle soup. The fried dumpling skin was way too thick and the filling was only okay. The scallion pancakes were way too thick and nothing like what you expect it to be. The wonton wrapper was fine but the filling wasn't a flavorful pork like you expect. The beef noodle soup was only okay as well. This place is definitely a bang for your buck place but the food just isn't good enough to warrant a visit. I had to throw some of it away because I just didn't want to eat it. Hope the quality can improve one day.

They finally had dumplings! This dumpling house has run out of dumplings on my last two visits and I was not ready for a third devastation. I went early, which makes all the difference for certain menu items. So pork and chive fried dumplings and lamb bone hand pulled noodles were ordered to high satisfaction. Get the chili oil and soy vinegar available on every table.

Lao Bei Fang is a must stop for me every time I am in Elmhurst. They make great fried dumplings, amongst other Chinese dishes. The dumplings' the main reason why I visit the majority of the time, since it's a cheap eat, but I've tried their noodle soups as well and they were pretty authentic and flavorful. The only complaint I have is this smell that I cant seem to get past when I'm in the restaurant, which is the main reason why I never dine in, but besides that this is must visit for takeout!

I really regret not trying a noodle soup. A food blog on Instagram posted about their dumplings so I decided to give them a try because it would be nice to find good food closer to home instead if traveling to my favorites in the city. I ordered the pork and cabbage dumplings boiled, the pork and chive dumplings fried, a whole scallion pancake, a pork bun and tea eggs. All of this came up to $19 and its soo much food so the value for your money is great. What I don't like is how thick and dense the dough of the pork bun and the scallion pancake were. The pork bun was almost hard to chew how thick it was, it wasn't a soft fluffy light bun at all which was a very disappointing. The boiled pork and cabbage dumplings were yummy but the fried pork and chive dumplings were nothing memorable. The star of the show were the tea eggs. They were amazing, properly salted and I was still able to taste the flavor of whatever it was boiled in. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but if I do end up in the area again, I'll try soup and get the eggs.

I took my baby boy for the first time, he loved it so much he said mommy make sure you bring the rest of the noodles home, and he's a picky eaterbut the best part of dining here is watching them make the noodles right in front of us the kids loves it Place can use a little love though!

It's been a long time since my last visit to LBF, the first time wasn't too impressed with the lamb noodle I ordered. Few days ago, I gave it another try, this time I ordered the beef stew noodle soup, surprisingly it's much better than the first time. The broth wasn't as salty. I also enjoyed their pig ears. Will definitely return in the near future.

Great neighborhood standby for dumplings and soups with hand-pulled and knife-shaved noodles. Love hearing the smack of the noodles as they pull them behind the counter. The dumplings are a great deal at 8 for $4.75 (includes tax). I got the boiled ones as they generally need to make them fresh - as opposed to the pan-fried, which they often have pre- prepared. I also love their lamb noodle soup. It's a comfort food favorite.

I haven't been back here for quite some time. I was in the mood for some fried dumplings and in the area so I popped in. The dumplings have greatly improved, the skin is much thinner than it used to be but the noodle soup was still a disappointment. While the hand-pulled noodles were delicious and perfectly cooked, the broth had no flavor and the tripe was really undercooked making them impossible to chew. The pork vegetable bun was still really tasty (I used to get these all the time) and at $1.50, you can't go wrong. I'll definitely be back to try the noodles stir-fried (might be more flavorful) and pick up a bag of frozen dumplings.

This spot is a classic that I've been going to for years! They make hand pulled noodles right in the shop so each order has a fresh batch of noodles. The prices are very affordable with prices just under $10 and the portions are definitely filling. The texture of the noodles is chewy and the broth tastes very hearty. However, I don't think that the noodles catch the flavors of the broth very well. There's a huge selection of different noodles - soup and sauteed, along with dumplings and sides. A local gem for a quick and affordable meal.

A place I wish it's closer to me, then I will go at least every other day! They have delicious appetizers, dumplings, spicy mala tang/soup, and stir fried pancake (like cut it up like noodles) sooo delicious! Now thinking of it is making me drooling~

Amazing place for hand-pulled noodles and homemade dumplings with thick, chewy skin. Portions are huge and prices are so good! The beef hot and spicy soup (#64) is extremely spicy so beware! They were super generous with the portions of beef. I will 100% come back here if in the area again! Service was pretty fast, even during the dinner rush. There is plenty of seating along the wall and some tables if you want to dine in. Remember to bring cash!

Best Dumpling in Queens! I moved here in US and this is the first dumpling I had and the taste never changed! It is cheap too! Location: It is located in Elmhurst Queens, the store is near US supermarket, so if you go for grocery shopping you can go here quick! The interior is not classy, simple and you just go here to eat. Service: I do to go here so I just order and go. Food: FRIED DUMPLINGS: they are the best and they are cheap, get the spicy condiments on the table, you can get as many as you want. The dumplings smell a little bit off but taste really good! SEAFOOD NOODLES: they are made fresh! They are very tasty and a lot of seafood in it. Price rating: 2/10, very cheap! OMG they are the best when it comes to cheap food and dumplings!

Very authentic northern noodle place in Elmhurst. The place is not big and it's self service, you choose and pay at the counter then bring food to wherever you want to sit. Hot tea also available for self service. Don't forget to clean up your table after you finishes, that's also Just like fast food joints. Cash only and you don't have to tip. They have a lot of noodle options, including hand hall noodle and knife shed noodle, in soup or stir fried. Most of them are under $10 in very big portion. They also have giant steam buns(pork or vege) for $1.5 and giant scallion pancake for 2.5/half or 4.5/whole. Boil/pan fried home made dumplings 8pc for $4.25, they are very big size. The appetizer you can choose from the counter, including pig ear, beef tender, pork, shred potato, tofu skin ect. You can mix and match. If you are craving for an authentic noodle place this is a great destination for you. You can see they make the noodles by order right in front of you. And the price is really great for the portion.

Cash only ... Note this first! So after reading fellow Yelper Jando S.'s review and $80 later, I was convinced this is the place for a great hand pulled noodle experience. Came here on a Saturday night for dinner for six people and ordered way too much food. But the prices were so reasonable, it only made sense to try more of the menu and since there were so many of us. The fried dumplings were delicious, hot and generous portions of meat. Beautifully pan seared. We opted for the noodle soup version as well. So the fun part while waiting for our noodle bowls was to watch the chef at work. You could see the man pulling, stretching, slapping and like twirling the dough to make the noodles. Fascinating to watch and better still, we had the best view because my table was closest to him and the register. BTW, no table service, they call your number when your order is ready. So you pick it up at the register and walk it back to your table. Same when you are finished with your meal, they ask all patrons to dump any excess soup broth into a steel bin. Then the single use utensils go in the garbage. Only the bowls and trays get placed on a communal collection area. They also recycle the bottles and cans if you bought drinks. We enjoyed all the noodles we chose, note: the Lamb spicy noodle was really spicy. Ordered it medium but we were in tears nonetheless. So if you like the heat, by all means - enjoy! I liked that this place was no frills and very relaxed. People come from everywhere. I was hosting my cousin from VA so it was quite the experience. Notable mentions: Beef trio - tendon, brisket and stomach noodle soup Rice noodles with your choice of meat, we choose pork. Pork bones in noodles, don't forget to eat the marrow too! Wonton noodle soup, not Cantonese style but close Gotta check it out if you're in the hood. Two blocks from the subway so it's very easy to get to.

Came try because of the high profile in the neighborhood. Looks like a hole in the wall one. I ordered the tripe noodles. The amount of the noodles is amazing and the noodles is yummy and fresh. But very limited soup as too much noodles in. Also nothing particular on the soup base. Barely found any tendon or tripe inside. Not to mentioned their side dish it cost more than $7 for a small box. Maybe the expectation is high as saw on the reviews so the disappointment is high.
