The 22 Best Restaurants In Houston's Chinatown

"What to order: Lao sausage, cracky belly, and any laab Lao’d District is one of the few Thai-Lao spots in Chinatown. Like a few other restaurants in the neighborhood, Lao’d District doesn’t employ servers, but rather uses QR codes. Grab some Lao sausage, chicken laab with sticky rice, and crispy pork belly along with some sake cocktails. Roll up here if you enjoy loud hip hop and want an easygoing meal packed with flavor and spice." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

Lao’d District - Review - Chinatown - Houston - The Infatuation

"The restaurant Lao’d District serves up classic and new school Thai-Lao dishes in a chill, casual space in Chinatown. Pull up the menu on your phone and choose between dishes like sour Lao sausage with jeow bong chili sauce, tangy steak laab, or crispy yet juicy pork belly tossed in sweet and sour sauce. Grab a couple sake cocktails and food will seamlessly find its way to your table (behold, the power of technology). While Lao’d District doesn’t have servers, plenty of human staff members dart around dropping off food and being generally attentive, so you won’t feel abandoned. Roll up here if you enjoy loud hip hop, sticky rice, and want an easygoing meal packed with flavor and spice." - Chelsea Thomas

Delicious food, worth the visit! We really enjoyed our meal here. The spring rolls, drunken noodles with chicken, sticky basil fried rice, and Mekong wings were all full of flavor and generously portioned. A standout touch was the crispy basil leaves served with the wings—such a tasty detail! Spice levels are spot on, so definitely order with your heat preference in mind. One thing to note: Roger was handling the dining area solo during our visit, which meant that used dishes lingered a bit and we ended up grabbing our own drinks to save time. That said, he prioritized what mattered most—getting orders in and food out promptly, which we appreciated. All in all, a great spot with flavorful dishes and a kitchen that delivers.

Stopped by around lunch. The food was so so good! I had chicken drunken noodles, eggs rolls, and washed it down with the mango passion fruit juice. I loved the music and atmosphere. Super clean and tidy. The service is great. I like the menu system, how u can order online, pay and the food is then brought to u. I would definitely be coming back.

I enjoyed the meal. Came during lunch so took advantage of the deal. The server took the time to explain how it works to order and was very friendly. Food was flavorful. Didn't enjoy the papaya salad but to be fair its my first time trying it so maybe I just don't enjoy papaya salad. I ordered the chicken basil and it was a good portion. Furthermore when eating it was not greasy or heavy so I felt good leaving. Food came out fast as well. Cons is the parking but otherwise I am willing to visit again.

Google
Ordered the drunken noodles ( spicy) and roti, papaya salad (spicy) and res curry. All was very delicious but the papaya salad was very spicy! Made my nose runny kind of spicy.

Walk in, seat yourself and scan the QR code on the table you're sitting in. You have to order online and you pay online at the end of the meal. The staff is very friendly and will bring out your drinks and food. Clean location with a medium sized dining area. The food has great taste and portion sizes.

Google
Portion sizes were small for the price except for the Papaya Salad. Crack belly was too sweet and Mok Pa was fishy. Best dish was the Steak Tiger Cry. Sausage was okay. Won’t be back.

Google
Wow- I’m actually in the middle of eating lunch here but HAD to make sure I came here to write this review. I don’t spend a lot of time in the Chinatown area but I will definitely be coming back. The food and ambiance is AMAZING! The flavors and the creativity of the dishes are out of this world. I ordered the Curria tacos and my husband ordered the Thai basil beef. Highly recommend. There’s so many places to eat here in the area but I’m glad we chose Lao’d district. See ya again real soon!

Google
All dishes were great! I was really surprised since I never heard or tried Laotian dishes. The“steak tiger cry” and “nam vaan” were especially amazing. We ordered it medium rare and it was perfectly cooked with a savory smoky flavor. The papaya salad has 3 spicy levels. The medium level was really spicy even to my son who loves spicy food. So be careful when you choose spicy levels. All in all I highly recommend! :)

Yelp
Order from the app on your phone- pretty quick and easy. Here's what we ordered: Chicken skins3/5 crispy but no flavor in and of itself Steak Tiger cry 5/5 meat was tender and flavorful Crispy pork belly- 6/5 tonight's protein fav Drunken noodles with shrimp5/5 noodle texture was perfect but next time I'd get the medium as the spicy was SPICY Morning glory 10/5 I loved this dish -so flavorful and crunchy- yum- mix the sauce in your rice. Writing this I want it now! Spice level medium Recommended by my son and it was delicious! We shall return!

Yelp
This was an interesting place. Had a very minimalistic vibe to it, but the staff was really friendly. You basically just have to order from your table using the QR code, and they bring the food out to you. But when they see you walk in, they do bring water and plates to you. I ended up getting the roti tacos. Sooo delicious! So it's kind of like a twist on birria tacos since they have the cup with the curry meat sauce on the side. Really enjoyed this, and my partner did too! I also tried the pad Thai, not bad. It was pretty standard as pad Thai goes. I can't wait to try something else here!

Yelp
Interesting place, I'm definitely not a fan of the ordering process. Everything appears to be through the phone, which would be okay, buy I have a lot of questions and not really an opportunity to ask because literally the minute I sat down and settled in, the empty restaurant with jus6 me got 3 more tables... what the heck?? There is also something going on at a neighboring restaurant, a line formed outside for ... ice cream and or candy? No thank you. I'll take spicy food over sweet food anytime. I ordered a spicy vermicelli noodle soup with Ricky's help, *thank you Ricky ! It's delicious. I will post them name of it soon, but its delicious! I didn't notice cilantro in the description, I would have preferred no cilantro, but easy enough to pick out. The soup is served/garnished with a nice crispy cabbage mix, the combination of the crisp cabbage and the spicy soft vermicelli is above expectations, really elevates the soup. Khao Poon is the name of the dish. Highly recommend. Reminds me of Tom ka soup, minus the mushrooms. I will say, I can't help but notice that Ricky seems to be taking more orders in person than guests ordering via the phone. I think this would be the preferred method, especially if Ricky and his counterparts expect a tip. I tip on service and ordering thru the phone would not garnish a tip from me. Lucky Ricky stepped up for this old lady and took care of me personally, good man @

Yelp
We took a short trip to Houston and decided to stop by this spot before heading back home. My husband and I are always on the lookout for authentic Lao food, and when we found this place on social media, we were so excited to give it a try. On the drive over, we browsed the menu and were even more thrilled to see so many traditional Lao dishes that you don't usually find elsewhere. The restaurant itself is super clean and modern, with a great ambiance. One small note--the booth seats were a bit lower than the table, so as a shorter person, I had to sit at the end to be more comfortable. The service was quick and friendly. Since it was our first time, the server walked us through the menu and helped explain everything, which we really appreciated. Here's what we ordered: Crab Papaya Salad (Tum Mak Hoong)- The portion was generous, and we loved that it came with *khao poon* (vermicelli noodles), so you could eat it like "Tum Khao Poon". That's something most places don't offer unless it's a separate dish. That said, the flavor was a little mild for our taste, we were hoping for more of that punchy, bold Lao flavor. Tiger Crying Steak (Suea Rong Hai)- This was a hit. Really well-seasoned, tender, and definitely worth ordering again. Lao Sour & Spicy Dipping Sauce (Jeow Som)- We weren't quite sure about this one. It tasted and looked more like a sweet chili sauce, almost like what you'd get with egg rolls. Not sure if it was a different version or a mix-up. Lao Sausage (Sai Gok)- It was just okay for us. A bit dry and lacking the depth of flavor we usually expect from Lao sausage. Sticky Rice (Khao Niew)- Simple but good. We appreciated that it was served in a traditional bamboo holder, which helped keep it warm. Thai Tea Flan- I didn't get a picture of this one, but it was alright. I expected it to be a little softer and jiggly. It had a strong cinnamon note at first, but the aftertaste leaned more toward the sweet, creamy Thai tea flavor. Overall, we had a great experience. The place is definitely worth checking out, especially if you're craving dishes that are hard to find elsewhere. We do wish there were more Lao staff or representation, it would add an even more authentic, local vibe. Still, it's a solid spot and we're glad we made the stop!

Yelp
A friend recommended Lao'd District. There were plenty of parking as well arrived early (6 pm). Please was not full and had our choice of seats. Staff came over and explained everything can be ordered online via QR code and paying via the app/website as well. We started with the Roti with curry sauce. It was tasty. We also ordered the Lao's sausages. Sausage was well seasoned. The "sauce" is one the spicy side which we liked. It also came with sticky rice that offsets the sausage's spiciness . Definitely worth trying out. We also ordered the drunken noodles and Steak Tiger Cry. Drunken noodles was good... noodles was cooked just right. Tasty as well. The star of the show was the Steak Tiger Cry that our friend recommended and did not disappoint. It is cooked rare. The meat was tender and seasoned well. Good size steak. The sauce is like chumuchuri and complements it very well. Definitely will come back to have it again. Place is clean and tables are well spaced out. You can see the kitchen behind the counter. Staff is friendly and recommended the dishes we ordered. There is also a giant display highlighting the best sellers.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite lunch spots! I always order the Tiger Cry Steak every time I come here, and it never disappoints; always cooked the way I like it. For lunch, they also include papaya salad with your meal. Today, I tried some of my friend's Thai Basil Chicken, and it was so good! I love that it includes a fried egg on top. My friend told me her roommate is also Thai and Laotian, but the food here is better than what he cooks haha. I brought my friend here for her first time, and she's now so excited to bring her other friends here, too.

Yelp
Food here is amazing and service great too! I had the lao'd pho and it was extremely flavorful. Will be back soon. Great music in the background while you eat. Looking for date night options, try this place out!

Yelp
This place has entered my regular rotation because it's so good and consistent. Have since tried the curria tacos (5/5), which is made with their roti and some phenomenally spiced ground chicken. Never seen this version of birria tacos, but loved it. So flavorful - definitely recommend! Crispy pork belly (4/5) - well prepared but the tiger eye still wins for me. Service is still 5+/5. I asked the waitress about the mocktails and she insisted that I try a sip to see if I'd like it. Really appreciated that because I ended up getting the kiwi cucumber lemonade (4/5), which was unique and refreshing. Would have preferred it less sweet, but these drinks are pre-mixed so couldn't adjust. Bonus we got two complimentary strawberry covered chocolates in honor of Valentine's Day.

Yelp
I had the Curria tacos with curry sauce & It was sooo yummy. The staff was great and very attentive. Great music & I will definitely be back .

Yelp
Overall, good food, but some dishes are hit and miss. I do love the fried rice with crispy rice pieces in it. But papaya salad, soups are kinda a miss for me. System is easy, place order and pay for it on phone, staff brings food ordered to table.

Yelp
Server was nice. This was my second time dining here. The first was with my family. This visit, my diet was a bit limited, and so were my personal choices. I decided to get something different and ordered the green curry, mild. It was still a bit spicy. The Thai roti with red curry dipping sauce was great.

Yelp
Stay tuned - I gotta eat. Sooooo good! I'll need to come back and finish this review later! Ok I finished it up! Burp! Yep! This place is yummy good! Burp! We ordered a hodge podge of stuff! I got the Tiger Steak and it was the bomb! Come here. Eat! You will like it! In health and happiness! Cheers!

Yelp
We visited Lao'd District for a weekend lunch and left feeling, "OMG HOW HAVE WE NOT COME HERE ANY SOONER!!" The food was absolutely delicious. Everything had a wonderful balance of flavors and everything was perfectly cooked. We enjoyed the cream cheese egg-rolls, pork-belly, steak, and fried chicken skins. The service was great and ambiance was very urban and relaxed. We will be back!
google avatar

Lauren K.

Yelp
The service is friendly and quick, whether you order ahead or eat in. My friends were all happy with their various dishes, but I'll be talking about the curria tacos for a long time. It's a fusion dish that feels like it could only come out of Houston!

Yelp
I've been really busy recently to go out and eat in person, so I've been ordering a lot of foods to-go or through delivery. I've ordered from Lao'd District so many times so far, and all the foods have turned out so good every time. I really can't wait to eat here in person when I have the chance. So far, my absolute favorites are the Tiger Cry Steak and the Lao'd Sausages. I really think they have the best Tiger Cry Steak out of all the ones I've had so far everywhere else, and the Lao'd Sausages, which come with sticky rice, are perfect. I also really love the Crack Belly and the Mekong Calamari, and both of those always super flavorful. I've also tried the Nam Khao (Crispy Rice), and it was pretty good as well, especially the cured pork that comes with it. I also really love their Thai Tea, which is pretty concentrated and does not taste watered down. I was not a big fan of the Thai Roti Canai; it was just not as fluffy and light as I'd expected it to be, and I've had better elsewhere. I've also had the Khao Piak Sen (Lao Chicken Noodle Soup), which was not bad, but the chicken was dry.
google avatar

Siena B.

Yelp
Food was excellent but ordering can be a little challenging. You're unable to see the list of the dishes until your first order goes through or you put your payment info. Other than that, we enjoyed everything we ordered from Lao'd District.
google avatar

Brandon D.

Yelp
My friend and I tried going to mensho on Sunday for lunch but we didn't realize that they only open for dinner lol. She recommended we go to Lao'd district instead. Ordering here may be confusing but there is a QR code on the table and you order from your phone. We got the tiger cry, red curry, lao'd jerky, and roti canai. I originally wasn't going to get the tiger cry but then I saw that it was a sous vide picanha cut steak. I remembered how good picanha was at Brazilian steakhouses and just had to try it. It was soo soo tender and if you like fatty pieces of meat as well then this is for you. It comes with a sweet and savory like sauce that adds a little tang to the steak. My friend really liked their green curry but they were sold out of it so we got the red curry instead. It was made with bell peppers, coconut milk, onions, Thai basil bamboo shoots, and chicken. It had a good coconut flavor and goes so well with the rice. At first I thought the slice wasn't that bad but then it eventually hit me and was lingering as well. The laod jerky came with jeow bong sauce and sticky rice. The jerky was tender and sweet and savory. The jeow bong sauce didn't taste like what I expected, it is a spicy and sweet tamarind sauce but I didn't think it was that spicy. The roti canai was pretty solid as well. The roti wasn't as flaky as others I've had but it was solid and the house red curry sauce it came with was Soo Soo good, I loved the coconut flavor.

Yelp
On a blustery winter day after a trip to the dentist, I was craving some spicy foods both to warm myself up and reawaken my taste buds. Taking advantage of lunch time timing to avoid the crowds at Bellaire Food Street, Mom and I hit up Lao'd District for some good eats - here's what we tried: Khao Poon - This beautiful curry noodle soup revived me from the first sip - you can imagine it as somewhere on a spectrum between laksa and khao soi, with a focus on the fresh herbs and cabbage crowning the bowl to add texture and zest to the rich, warm soup base. The portion itself was large enough to feed both of us, but YMMV. Nam Khao - This delightfully crispy and savory dish is well balanced here, encompassing nutty morsels of browned rice, salty specks of sausage, and green herbs. Do note that temperature-wise it is more akin to a salad than a fried rice - the the lettuce leaves to wrap up spoonfuls of the rice, then chow down! Papaya salad - A side portion of papaya salad accompanies all lunch specials, balancing heavier meat dishes with much needed fiber and acidity. I loved the sweet, tangy dressing and the sharp crunch of green papaya, though a customization choice to up the spiciness would be nice. Thai Cafe - Similar to cà phê sữa dá, this delectably sweet and highly caffeinated beverage is a smooth yet bold salve to any spice you might encounter during your meal. It also comes with your lunch special! Ordering is quite efficient through the QR code on each table, but don't sleep on the service staff here - we were frequently attended to with drinks, napkins, and to-go containers as we needed. In a city with a glut of great Southeast Asian restaurants, I'm proud of Lao'd for staying true and standing out - I'm already looking forward to my next visit so I can try the khao piak sen, "curria" tacos, and sticky basil fried rice!

Yelp
Met a friend for lunch and we finally tried Lao'd on a Friday afternoon. It wasn't too crowded and we took a table by the window. I liked the oversized chairs. Very comfy! The server greeted us immediately and advised to use the QR code on the table which connected you to the Toasttab ordering system. All transactions from ordering to paying are done on the site. Even though the server only brought us water and our food, he still came over to check on us. I ordered the pad Thai and it was some of the best I've had in Houston. The chicken breast wasn't dry, sliced thinly, and the tofu added texture. I can't eat bean sprouts so I was able to add a note to my order. I normally have leftovers but I finished my entire plate! They have lots of other items and drinks that I want to try next time. Can't wait!

Yelp
Horrible!!!! I did NOT receive what I ordered!! I ordered the crab papaya salad, beef pho and drunken noodles. What I got was just a basic papaya salad and the crispy pork. I hope the correct this and reimburse me.

Yelp
Their crack belly dish is absolutely amazing. Wonderful service and super authentic Thai food!

Yelp
I was excited to see a lao restaurant in Houston! However, it wasn't that good. Not like what I grew up on. The server was nice. I did not see any Laos people at all in the restaurant. We shared the Laos chicken noodle soup lacking depth and chicken flavor. The papaya salad was fresh and good. But the Laos sausage so so. I was expecting more and bold flavors like moms. But not here. The ambiance was young and hip.
google avatar

Ivy L.

Yelp
There's a place in Seattle that serves the best Laos food. I have yet to find a place that serves dishes like that in Houston. I was hoping Lao'd District would, as it's one of very few true Laos places in Houston but I was disappointed to see they didn't have the specifics I was looking for. Their papaya salad was more Thai style than the brown shrimp paste Laos type papaya salad I was looking for - though I know they also have a crab papaya salad. The fried fish was battered and I was looking for a true fried fish with a spicy basil sauce with sticky rice. Now for the dishes I did try - papaya salad was a bit sweet and not my favorite. I was hoping for a more funky shrimp paste Laos style papaya salad, The Khao Poon had amazing flavor, but it was lacking protein! I literally got a bowl of just noodle, greens and soup! The chicken was barely present, maybe just small scraps. I think this dish could use some meat, quail egg, just something! But I would order it again for the flavor of the soup! The chicken soup on the other hand was salty and actual lacked much flavor on its own - the noodles I got for a to-go order was overcooked and stuck together in one piece. It was hard to break up, even in the soup, and ended up being little scraps of noodles afterwards. The chicken was there but just dry. I would like to maybe give dine in a try here.. maybe it'll be a better experience being presented the meal as it's suppose to look, and maybe the khao poon would have more substance played at the restaurant. Overall, I liked it but there's room for improvements!

Yelp
Lao'd District is a cute eatery situated in a busy shopping center in Bellaire. It is neighbor to one of my favorite, pop up dessert bars - Pop Fancy! Parking in the shopping center can be pretty horrendous, especially on the weekends so plan to spend a little extra time hunting down a parking spot. Something unique about Lao'd District (that I loved) was their ordering system. Patrons can scan a QR code that allows you to order and pay directly through your phone, which makes splitting bills a breeze! The service was quick and friendly. The food was pretty good. None of these dishes struck me as exceptional, but everything was prepared well and had great flavor. The Pad Thai was good but, honestly, it was nothing special (I've had way better). The steak tiger cry was very flavorful but a little overcooked for my taste. The laab was quite tasty and very fresh - plus the portion size was very generous! Lastly, the roti was incredible - flaky, buttery, soft but with a crisp and served with an amazing curry sauce. YUM! I will definitely order the roti again. Overall, my experience at Lao'd District was a great one, and I would absolutely return!

Kathy V.

Yelp
The food was great and the service was quick. I love how the restaurant uses Toast Tab for order input. Customer can just scan the QR on the table and pay for what they order, without having to ask the employee can we split the check. The restaurant was spacious and chill. Highly recommend for this place for group gatherings. My Table Order - Thai Roti Canai: Very Fragrant with coconut, but unfortunately more on the sweeter side. 6/10 - Pad Thai: Basic and could hardly go wrong. 7/10 - Chicken Laab: Delicious, light and refreshing. 9/10 - Steak Tiger Cry: Deliciously cut into nice size slices, but more cooked than I like. Wish it was medium rare, instead of medium. 8/10 Tips for improvement: Serve the Chicken Laab with Shrimp Chips for a 10/10. Overall, I love this place and would come back again soon, if I'm in the area.

Yelp
We ordered three dishes tonight and overall, everything was tasty! The Steak Tiger Cry had great flavor, but about a third of it was quite chewy. The pork belly was especially good and of course a vegetable dish to balance our meal. We will definitely bring some friends over next time.

Yelp
I've been sleeping on this place y'all... I always drive past here and never thought to try it until now. Very authentic Southeast Asian experience here! The roti canai was what you'd expect, the roti was buttery and flaky while the curry dip was full of flavor. I tried the crispy rice salad (nam khao) for the first time and I quite liked it. It was very limey and fresh. I think if it was crispier it'd be perfect! The crying tiger steak was solid. The steak had a nice sear and was tender. I loved the sour dipping sauce. The papaya salad with raw crab was my favorite. There was a generous amount of crab and sauce. The crab was so tender and sweet while the papaya was spicy and limey! Every dish I had was amazing and I love seeing Lao food being showcased in this area of town!

Yelp
Great service from staff and food is delicious! Staff was very helpful and attentive even with counter service. The interior is clean, modern, and welcoming. Loved the interior design aesthetics. I really enjoyed my Khao Poon (curry soup). It was seasoned well, everything was fresh, the flavors and textures were satisfyingly good. I did add additional spice to it, and it was perfect. I wasn't feeling well that day and the curry soup had me back to myself in no time. Really made my day

Yelp
This place is amazing. Will definitely go again. I just wish that the laab would come with more lettuce.

Thao N.

Yelp
You can order and pay online through the QR code placed on each table. Service was a bit inattentive if you need anything during your meal. But the food definitely made up for it! Food was great! Especially the Tiger Steak so tender and perfectly cooked to medium! Really loved their Drunken Noodles & Lao'd Sausage too!! Chicken wings were really bland though so not recommended.
google avatar

Alice X.

Yelp
The service was great! The team there was very attentive and kept checking in and refilling water. Pad Kee Mao: 4/5 the noodle texture was great but it felt more sweet rather than spicy Curry Noodle: 4/5 huge portion and noodle was good and broth was tasty as well. Not the biggest fan of the shredded chicken as it was slightly dry
google avatar

Darian C.

Yelp
The food was really good! I think they cooked the Steak Tiger Cry well and the basil fried rice. I enjoyed the roti canai but I had better before. I thought the sticky basil fried rice was interesting in a good way. It was sweeter than I thought it would be but worked with the dish. The restaurant had QR codes on the tables, and you could order yourself and pay there. So the waiter did not come around to our table as much, which makes sense.

Yelp
I finally stopped by for dinner one day after months of bookmarking this spot. This restaurant is located in one of the busier strip malls in Bellaire that I usually like to avoid during peak times but I think this plaza has gotten a little less busy in general. Roti canai: 4/5 soft and pillowy, sauce was solid. Would eat while it's hot Khao piak sen (chicken noodle): 3.5/5 decent chicken noodle soup but nothing that blew me away. I would probably get it again if it's super cold outside Tiger cry steak: 4.5/5 well priced and good portion of steak that was cooked perfectly. Drunken noodles: 4.5/5 very flavorful, no complaints Crack belly: 5/5 the pork belly is sooo good and juicy, reheats well in the air fryer but you probably won't have any leftovers Thai basil steak: 4/5 a solid stir fry dish, meat was tender Thai green tea: 5/5 not too sweet w a good tea taste, not watered down Jackfruit ice cream: 3/5 I don't love durian and it tasted like durian to us Overall, this is a very solid spot for Lao/Thai food. The flavors are great and they have multiple dishes that I really enjoyed as opposed to some places that only have a few good dishes. I have basically enjoyed every dish that I've tried here. They are also priced well and have great service which you can't always find in Bellaire.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant was surprisingly delicious! The ordering and payment process were so easy. You scan the QR code at the table, order in the clover app, and pay in the Toast app. You can close out your tab or keep it open. It makes it so easy to split checks as well. The jasmine green tea was good but a bit too sweet for my taste. Same with the strawberry lychee mocktail, The Thai roti was warm and flavorful. The cheese rolls were burning hot. They had cabbage and other veggies in them which was unexpected for cheese rolls so I didn't love them. The red curry was one of the best I've had. It was so full of flavor. The crack belly and steak tiger cry were also so good. The morning glory was tasty as well. The drunken noodles were a bit disappointing for me. The beef was not very tender and the noodles weren't as soft as I like. The service here was great. The server was attentive and friendly. There is a nice mural on one side of the restaurant. It's weird that all 4 tv monitors are on one wall. The restaurant is very bright and clean. Will definitely be back again.

I had high expectations for this spot due to a high rating on Yelp & Google, unfortunately the food was just okay. It definitely was good enough to finish but I didn't leave satisfied. The service was good & the owner checked on us a few times so that's why I'm giving them a 3 instead of a 2. The ordering system is easy, you scan the QR code, order & pay on there. I don't think we should've given a 20 percent tip but we did. I say that because it wasn't really full service. We decided to order a few items to try out. We got their Thai roti canai, Lao'd Pho, Sticky basil fried rice & Lao'd sausage. I'll start with the roti, it was pretty good. It came out warm. The texture was nice, it was soft & fluffy. The dipping sauce was very boring because the curry flavor was weak. Visually the pho looked good and flavorful but it tasted pretty basic to me, it really lacked in savoriness & richness's. What I can say is that the meat was tendered. The sticky basil fried rice was also okay. The rice came out kind of cold & dry, but flavor wise it was not bad. The sausage was my least favorite, I do think they make their filling in house but it was just alright to me. For $12 I wouldn't order that again. Overall, the food was subpar but the service was good. I will come back another time & try their other items. Maybe there's something on the menu that'll satisfy my taste buds. The decor is nice & the restaurant is clean. I'll give them another chance.

Yelp
Decided to check this place out after seeing some good reviews and I'm glad I did! I looove thai curry and their red curry ($12) did not disappoint! It hit the spot with the rich flavor, abundance of rice, and the perfect amount of heat (I got medium spicy). The chicken in the red curry was a wee bit bland but honestly I'm here for the curry more than the chicken. We also got the Mekong Wings and they were crispy, had good flavor, and had a good amount of meat on them. I'm always so hesitant to get wings at restaurants because sometimes the wings are tiny, but these met the price expectation ($12). For dessert, we got to try the Thai Tea Flan and it was decent - I think the thai tea flavor could be stronger, but the texture of the flan was great. Smooth and creamy as opposed to more jello-like. Our server, Ricky, was awesome - great energy and informative. Would love to come back sometime and try their other menu items!

Yelp
5 Stars!!! I am SO happy that a Lao restaurant has opened here. By far, hands down the best customer service by Johnny! The food? Let me say, YUM YUM YUM!!!! The prices are REASONABLE, you get to choose your spice levels, and the quality is SUPERB! Once you enter, you're sat down at a table and everything is electronic by choosing what you want on the menu and paying it thru your phone! What a smart concept! Love it! The variety reminds me of my family's Lao cooking from back home. I highly appreciate the experience when I went with my friend. I'm recommending it to all my friends and coworkers so I will be back next week. Thank you for the exquisite cuisines and warm atmosphere. I will definitely come back as a regular client trying the other items on the menu! Here's what I ordered: Drunken Noodles Lao'd sausage Laab Beef Nam Khao Papaya Salad Nam Vaan Strawberry Lychee Drinks Sticky Rice

Yelp
I love this place! Everything we've tried so far is either good or okay but majority of it we enjoyed. The food portion can be on the smaller end for the price you're paying for. But overall the quality is great. The service is always good too.

Yelp
So when it first open, I came and the food was good but great. It felt like it was missing some components and trying to figure things out. So, when I first ate there, I gave the place a 3/5. I recently went again because my friend posted the food and I was like let me give it a try and my Thai friend was in town and so I wanted her to try it. I didn't take pictures of everything bc I was so hungry. Drunken Noodles: 4.5/5, it had a the right amount of spicy, it was delicious, the noodles was mushy at all and well cooked. It was everyone's fave. Nam Khao: 3.5/5, it was good, it need more spice to it and not enough cured meat. It was like speckle of meat and it felt like I was only eat rice. It was good though, I would have made it spicer. Crack Belly: I got extra crispy. It was a fave of mine. Tangy, sweet and overall a good addition. Beef jerky:4.5/5 it was good. Not too chewy and it was tender! I loved it and it had so much flavor in it. Salt and pepper wings: 2/5, very bland, was not worth it.

Yelp
First off, my husband is lao-hmong and we finally came out to eat this on his birthday. It was truly a big hit because he loved everything we ordered. Not many places serve kaopoon so we were excited to try. Of course nothing beats mama khang's kaopoon back at home but this definitely is close when you want a taste or get rid of the craving. I ordered a bunch of other things for the table and I absolutely love it all. Everything was delicious. Prices are a bit too high for the portions that they served (compared to other thai/lao places but we won't complain since everything is so delicious). We will definitely be back to try more!

Yelp
Amazing Lao/thai food here. Very clean and spacious restaurant in the new complex in Chinatown. You scan a QR code to place orders. I love their sausage w sticky rice. I do plan on coming back here soon. Staff was very friendly and gave recommendations if you don't know what to get. Everything I ordered was filled with flavors! Out of my dishes I ordered, the wings were my least favorite but still good!

Yelp
Good service. Good, authentic food. Clean. This place is great for when you're craving Laos food. If you look at the photos, you'll see that we tried (almost) everything! First thing I'll say is that if everything I ordered was mild, you better BYOM (bring your own milk) if you opt for spicy! It was the perfect amount of kick for me (non-Laos), but you might want to try it before you feed it to the kiddos! My favorites were probably the Tiger Cry and beef jerky w/ sticky rice, and my least fave was was maybe the fish. I didn't get to try the chicken wings bc we had so much food, but keep in mind these aren't your BW3 sized wings. The noods, sticky basil rice, crack belly... were all delish too.

Yelp
Saw the great reviews and decided to give it a try during the weekday. Thank god they had parking at the food center it's located in because it's usually always packed there. This location is definitely a newer addition because this is my first time seeing it. The staff is friendly and you can easily do everything from your phone. The staff is there to help incase you have any questions. Food came out quick and it was really good. Our absolute favorite had to be the roti, it was hot and flaky and we could not get enough. The wings are also a huge hit! Will be returning to try more things from the menu!

Yelp
Glad to have this Thai/Lao spot in the hip new Bellaire food street plaza (Parking can be pretty busy and you may have to go to the upper level of garage during the plaza's busier times) Place looks very clean, a more modern décor. QR code menu and pre-paying is an interesting concept, pretty much a self-service experience. I liked the selections of traditional Lao/Thai dishes and the pictures with detailed descriptions on the menu. (you can get anything from the traditional Papaya salad to curry to various noodle/rice dishes) The food came out promptly. Got to try out the Khao Poon (curry) and my friend had the Pad Thai. I thought the curry was decent, very generous portions and doesn't have a strong spice which was fine. It could be a bit more bold in the flavor part but I was happy with it. Ordered a mocktail as well and a overall good experience for my first time. Would love to try some other dishes like the pork belly and Tiger steak next time.

Yelp
With so many chinese and vietnamese restaurants in the area, I'm glad to see a Laotian restaurant! I had my first fixing of Laotian food in OKC at Ma Der Lao and fell in love with nam khao. I got takeout because i was in the area and wanted to get something for dinner. Ordered the nam khao, red curry and sticky basil rice. I wish I had eaten there because the nam khao rice would've been crispier but the flavor was delicious! The red curry had great flavor but the chicken was a little dry. The sticky basil rice was a great change from typical basil fried rice. I forgot how much I love sticky rice. We will definitely be back and eat there next time!
