L'Arlatan

"The flamboyant, Instagram-worthy interior designed by Cuban artist Jorge Pardo makes an immediate impression. Your attention is then drawn to the seasonal, Mediterranean-inspired menu. Delicious, well-crafted dishes that make the most of local produce to conjure up bold and appealing flavours: think Camargue oysters, beef marinated à la provençale, Camargue red rice, pistachio millefeuille to share." - Michelin Inspector

The French Riviera Is an Art Lover's Dream — Here's How to Plan Your Perfect Trip

"Our base in Arles is the excellent hotel Arlatan. Designed by the Cuban-American artist Jorge Pardo, it opened in 2018 and is a mood improver, a joyous mix of colors and textures. The floors are decorated with swirling tiles, both Moorish and mod. Its lights and wall sconces are laser-cut plastic — a bit floral, a bit like underwater creatures. I love the feel of Arles. Human-scale, warm, friendly." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Amazing location and uber chic hotel! The most vivid and inspiring interior design. Our only complaint was that the pool was closed the first day, but the staff was so sweet and apologetic and made up for it in other ways. Make sure to get croissants next door!

We had the most amazing experience at this hotel during our recent stay. We don't typically splurge for hotels when traveling, so we found this to be actually very reasonably priced. Service was great and everyone was so helpful. Location is a bit away from the main roads, but was never a hassle. We are OBSESSED with the designer and were in awe of how gorgeous the hotel was. So glad we made the choice to stay with you.

An absolutely beautiful and inspiring hotel. Jorge Pardo’s artworks throughout the space are truly amazing — they made my stay feel like living inside a piece of art. The hotel was clean and very well maintained, and the staff were consistently kind, helpful, and professional. I spent three peaceful days here, and thanks to L’Arlatan, I was able to enjoy the artistic and tranquil atmosphere of Arles to the fullest. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Arles.

Another place that I have never taken the time to write a review about. Centrally located but away from the crowds in a little side street, you discover this beautiful « Hotel Particulier ». It is an absolutely unique place , the pictures will help you understand… a wonderful combination of old and new … rooms are spacious and wonderfully decorated, now if you don’t like color this is not for you 😂. The restaurant serves lovely dishes , I have been there many many times and have not once been disappointed.

Overall a great experience. The hotel and the rooms are without a doubt beautiful and unique. The pool outside in this heat was also refreshing and nice. For improvement, I would suggest training the front desk staff a bit more as there were several moments of confusion with them. First when we arrived we asked for parking directions and were told there are 2 garages nearby. We just picked the closest one but upon arriving it said maximum 10 hours so we weren’t sure if we could park there overnight. We came back to the hotel to ask and the older lady at reception said no its okay they dont charge overnight here. Would have been nice to know at the beginning. At checkout my bill had a confusing addition and removal of the same charge and the girl presenting it me didnt understand what it was until I pointed out to her its a negative not plus. Would make sure your staff understands how to read the bill before showing the customer. Lastly, I was surprised they did not have a scale to weigh our luggage as most hotels do… this led to difficulties at the airport. For a boutique stay and especially if you are not driving to Arles this is a good option.

While L’Arlatan is undeniably beautiful and thoughtfully designed, with a warm atmosphere, my overall experience was unfortunately marred by a major issue that went unresolved. During my stay in Room 3, I was kept awake for much of the night by loud, persistent banging noises and disturbances from adjacent rooms, heavy foot traffic around the stairwell, and additional noise from outside the building. It wasn’t an isolated incident or limited to a single disruptive guest—it was a consistent and widespread issue that made it nearly impossible to get any rest. I brought this up at checkout and followed up by email to formally request a partial refund, as the disturbance significantly impacted the comfort and quality of my stay. The hotel responded politely but declined any compensation, stating that the issue should have been reported during the night so that staff could intervene. I find this response unreasonable. It’s not realistic to expect guests to get dressed and come down to the front desk in the middle of the night, especially when the noise is not caused by one identifiable source. At a hotel of this level, soundproofing, night staff attentiveness, and basic guest comfort should be prioritized without requiring guests to escalate situations in real time just to be acknowledged. Sadly, despite the charm of the property, I wouldn’t return, knowing that valid guest concerns—even when respectfully raised—are met with hollow apologies rather than meaningful accountability.
