L'Artichaut

"Tucked away in a former presbytery transformed into an attractive hotel, this laid-back and stylish restaurant serves tasty contemporary dishes (snails, pumpkin cream, garlic purée and parsley; arctic char, girolles with amaretto, potatoes and coffee powder) in tune with the seasons." - Michelin Inspector

The experience was very poor. The food was ok, but no dish was worthy of being mentioned as good, or different. We ordered a glass of wine and water. If you want tap water, mention it, we made the mistake of not mentioning it and we were presented with an overpriced bottle of water. All other tables had tap water, so clearly locals know - I have to be honest, first time this happened in all my experiences in France. The waiter cleaned the breadcrumbs from other tables and not ours for some reason. We waited more than 30 minutes between the entrée and the main dish, at that point I asked the waiter if something was wrong, or if they had forgotten us. There are maybe 10 tables, to have people waiting for 30+ minutes without noticing clearly shows some lack of care, or maybe experience. At this price point you expect great, if not excellent experiences, not at all what we got.

Service tends to be very slow despite we were the first and only table. The atmosphere is somewhat cold. Perhaps because of the bright lighting or the strangely long wooden table, without and chairs in the middle of the room. The food was good, but not a wow factor.

This restaurant was everything we had hoped and more. We opted for the 6 course dinner - it was all really good but 3 courses were sublime. The egg parfait, the sweetbreads with truffle and parsnip and the chocolate and pistachio desert were totally exceptional. Lovely service too made a fabulous evening. Thank you.

It was really a nasty experience. It was supposed to be the highlight of our trip to Lyon. Yet it was one big disappointment. First of all, we were not seated in the restaurant, but in the small bar next door. There you sit at tiny round bistro tables where there is barely room for two plates and a glass. Then I want to wash my hands - but there is no soap. I order water and wine. The wine glass is so dirty that I have to return it. The same goes for the water carafe. It would actually have been the time to get up and leave. But my partner arranged it and I didn't want to be rude. We ordered the complete menu, which consists of two starters, two main courses and two desserts. A greeting from the kitchen - non-existent. The bread was sliced and already slightly dried. Butter or something similar? Not at all. The first course, an octopus, was ok. The second course included two tasteless clams. We placed them on the bread plate. It then took until dessert for the waiter to take the plate with the shells. The rest of the meal was absolutely not worth mentioning. The veal was even slightly tough because it was cut incorrectly. Dear Artichoke Team: The fact that you are mentioned in the Michelin Guide is a mistake that should be corrected immediately. Your service team simply put the plates in front of us: Fish here, meat here, dessert here. Completely incompetent. A meal at McDonald's is more fun and your place brings shame on Lyon and the good food and service we have experienced elsewhere.

The food and the staff are really great ! We have lunch the 1st of the year with a menu. Bad point, a really weird insect run on the bench seat where we sat at the end of the lunch. A bit disgusting.

Nice atmosphere in an old monastery. Professionsl and friendly staff. Good three-course menu with great wines. Especially the dessert was génial & the gin tonic with a hint of limoncello completed the experience.

We were fortunate that this restaurant was in our hotel. We had an incredible meal here, some of the best fish in green curry sauce and an endive starter that was excellent. A great deal as well, highly recommend the discovery menu for 40 euros (3 courses)
