"Like the Tacos El Bronco truck in Sunset Park, East Harlem stalwart Las Delicias Mexicanas provides an older idea of birria — served as a stew with corn tortillas long before quesabirria tacos and birria mulitas became all the rage. As an added plus, this birria is made with very flavorful lamb, rather than beef. The brick-red broth is also somewhat oddly bobbing with carrots, which add sweetness. It’s up to you to assemble the birria tacos." - Robert Sietsema

SerpAPI
Food was great! Their chicken tostadas were very well seasoned. I also had the sausage burrito and happy hour drinks. Their tamarindo Frozen margarita was everything.

Jose Santiago

SerpAPI
Generous serving size, pretty authentic tasting. Needed more meat in my pozole but overall not bad, worth a visit if you're in the area and craving Mexican food.

The food, all of the food, is always on point. I’ve been ordering from Delicias for over 6 years. Me and my wife recently felt under the weather, and the chicken soup was a gift from the Mexican gods, it arrived piping hot and it’s so delicious that you forget that you’re sick, they even include lime, onion and cilantro, and tortillas to complement the soup. It’s PERFECT!

One star off the bat because no guac and chips are offered. Most places that I’ve been to have that as an option on the house. However, the food is good and so are the drinks. It’s also really inexpensive. So I guess maybe that’s why.

Scott Lloyd

SerpAPI
No frills quality Mexican cuisine. Mole enchiladas were great.

Dario Molina

SerpAPI
A four because yes, the food is great. The service is great. However, you would spare of the bat that Mexican restaurants could give you as like a welcome chips with no charge. But this restaurant doesn’t and charges you $9.50 almost ten dollars for some chips with some guacamole. And the prices for the rest of the things, if the chips are overpriced, then just imagine the piece for the rest of the stuff. If the restaurant were in midtown Manhattan, okay maybe understandable. But here, it just seemed that the pieces were just too much unreasonable. I don’t know if I would return here. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

SerpAPI
By far, this is the best Mexican place in East Harlem and on my top list in Manhattan. Excellent service and cold Mexican beer. I will be coming back for more delicias.

Very good food prices are abit high but over all good food

Yelp
I came here as part of a large work group so we were in the space by ourselves. There was an open bar and the food was served buffet style. The drink options were beer, Sangria, margaritas. The frozen margaritas were a bit too sweet for me but the passion fruit on the rocks margarita was really good. I was honestly not very impressed by the food, there were large trays of shrimp and vegetarian pasta, beef, chicken, rice, beans and salad. Both pasta options were pretty bland, the beef was chewy. The chicken was the best tasting meat option. In spite of the food not being great, I'm giving this place 4 stars because of how great the service was and the wonderful experience we had with Paloma the mariachi singer. She has an amazing voice and sang to us the whole time we were there. There was also a host that kept everyone engaged by telling jokes, and encouraging everyone to dance and sing. Everyone had a great time!

Julianne N.

Yelp
Yes baby this is my kind of spot! Authentic food good prices and friendly service. Cute decorations and awesome patio area! While I personally would never pay the $20 they charge for a margarita my pacifico con limon y sal was cold and reasonably priced. My tacos and the rice and beans were freaking delicious! The included salsas are pretty spicy but I couldn't stop eating them and covered my tacos in them to the horror of my taste buds. Will definitely be back! Hoping they add a happy hour special or something so I can try a margarita one day 0:)

Heriberto M.

Yelp
I had been there two times . The first was amazing, there were karaoke. The food was good and the margaritas better. The environment is nice . Second time no karaoke, but the food is good. I recommend this place !!

Richie G.

Yelp
Really good food and drinks fast service and clean bathrooms good ambiance. Would recommend this place and can't wait to return

Vishnu G.

Yelp
This is a wonderful choice for Mexican food uptown. I tried the vegetarian tamal oaxaqueña and chile relleno entree. Both had incredible flavor, from richness, to savoriness, to the blend of spices. I especially loved the freshly made tortillas that came with the chile relleno.

Rosa O.

Yelp
The food was amazing can't complain about that, but the service sucked. The minute I walked in I was not even greeted it took them about 10 minutes to sit me and my kids down. We was a party of 6 with my kids included the minute we sat down they gave us the only attitude and I honestly do know why? The food was good cant complain about that. Towards the end we got the check they do add the service charge automatically after party of 5. We paid I took both receipts because clearly it said no signature required so we took the tab receipt and the payment of the card receipt. I didnt expect the waitress to come to my car and ask for the receipt when she clearly gave me the same one she chased me down for. Worst experience ever honestly. I expected better. never again. those waiters need to have a better attitude or get trained better.

Diamond Leona M.

Yelp
The very best, delicious AUTHENTIC Mexican food. I've been traveling to this location a few times and every time the food is delicious.

Christina H.

Yelp
I think about the posole all the time. Can't wait to be back in New York! Gem of that area

Marta O.

Yelp
Love the food and drinks. Family oriented and now there is karaoke. All are welcomed her and are treated respectfully by all employees. My family had such a great time here.

Chris W.

Yelp
Came here after a grueling bike ride and was not disappointed. I don't know why great Mexican is so hard to find in New York but this place really itches a scratch I have had ever since living in Los Angeles. I ordered the pozole rojos with two tostados and it was an awesome GIGANTIC meal. As I was leaving I noticed the family next to me enjoying some Mexican Cokes which I really wish I had ordered. Oh well. There's always next time! I've read that the sausage torta is absolutely amazing if you want a non-soup related recco.

Lucy M.

Yelp
I enjoyed my meal here. The chicken thighs in green sauce were tender and flavorful, and just a little spicy. Grilled scallions are always a winning choice. Service was friendly.

D.j. D.

Yelp
Service is good friendly and courtesy all times even in the phone for take out orders just little disappointed on the food cemitas pata and Milanese res really flat flavor and for the price mmm not really worked also I order French fries and really greasy no salt and portions uff not good sorry but Mexican food is not only just cook. is the flavor

Yelp
Las Delicias Mexicanas is a fabulous gem of a Mexican restaurant in Harlem! With great portions, friendly service, and decent prices, it makes it worth stopping by (especially if you're in the area like a lot of people headed to Costco or target). I was there on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty busy by the time I left, but not to the point where there was a wait. The menu has a wide variety of food options include burritos, nachos, quesadillas, tamales, flautas and more. After much internal debate, I went with the Chorizo con Queso Burrito ($10.95). After a very short wait, which flew by since they bring chips to the table, my massive burrito appeared. It was delicious, and absolutely stuffed with chorizo. There was so much there I couldn't eat it all even if I tried. Next time I'm in the area I'll certainly be back to try more of what they offer!

Belen G.

Yelp
Ordered from here a few times and it's the best Mexican food I've ever had in this area. Slightly pricier than the other restaurants around. They have an extensive menu with huge portions. The food is absolutely delicious. I wouldn't get a mangonada here again as it was just plain blended mango&ice with chamoy. I wish it had more going on and was a bit sweeter. But the tacos and burritos I've ordered are perfect.

Sean M.

Yelp
Excellent service and the food was amazing. We had breakfast and the tricolor omelette really hit the spot. Restaurant was very clean and the atmosphere was authentic. Highly recommend.

Leandra P.

Yelp
She brought chips and salsa right when we sat down, perfect! Enchiladas were a bit pricey, and they used dark meat... friend ordered the veggie torta, he said it was delicious. Guacamole was fantastic!

Jasmin D.

Yelp
Went into this place with the hope to enjoy a great experience, left disappointed and still hungry. The service was slow in spite of being the only customer there . Once the food was brought it it was not good. The chicken was over cooked , we asked for food without onions and that was ignored almost killed me. The tacos was dry and the meat not tender. We asked for a drink in which served with a big straw and not strong at all. They kept playing the same song over and over and often times the staff conversations where overhead. This has been one of the worse food I have experience.

Irma C.

Yelp
The service is phenomenal, the food in general is delicious but the Cemitas are very dry. The happy hour drinks are very good and worth your money.

Paul H.

Yelp
First, I just want to say that I love the burritos at Las Delicias Mexicanas. The insides are delicious, they grill the outside perfectly, and it just tastes superb - my favorite burrito in the city. I also love their chips and salsa, which are delicious. With that said, today I went to dine in the restaurant. I ordered the burrito (of course). After a couple minutes I asked about chips and salsa, which used to be complementary. They informed me that chips and salsa were now $6. $6! For just chips and salsa! And they used to be free! (Granted, that was pre-pandemic.) Then, when my bill came, the burrito was $16.95. I looked at the menu, and it was listed as $13.95. I asked about this, and they said they had raised the prices but not yet printed new menus. However, at no point did anyone mention the price change to me before the bill came, something they should do if prices are magically going to be over 20% higher when the bill comes. First, this is very dishonest, and is almost theft - they trick you into only telling you the real price until after you have eaten. I would never have eaten there if I knew a single burrito was $17! (Over $21 with tax and tip for a single burrito!) Second, $17 is a crazy price for a burrito! There are burrito places almost as good for $7 a couple blocks away! My normal meal there (burrito + chips and salsa), which used to be $12.50, would have now been $23! (Around $30 with tax and tip - for one person!) That's ridiculous! I am very sad about this, because Las Delicias is my favorite Mexican food place, but I won't ever be eating there again because it is too crazy expensive! Ridiculous!

Meghan S.

Yelp
Very delicious!! Nice hot and spicy soup with lots and lot of chicken. White and dark meat. Very flavorful and served in a large portion!

Stewie V.

Yelp
Good Mexican food and the waitress was very nice. I came here to avoid overspending on food and avoid unhealthy eating. Ended up buying $16 of food all for myself. Got a chicken taco (good liked the seasoning) Al pastor (can't go wrong also good) and the Chorizo/longaniza taco (it was good but I've had better) Also got myself a small guac and chips. Chips were meh but the guac was good and fresh. Tacos are about $3.50. and the guac is $4 for a small 1person portion. Overall nice spacious seating area so you can eat in peace. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if I'm the area and want good food and good service won't hesitate on coming back. (Waitress is very honest she brought back a dollar I had dropped while ordering food. )

Yelp
I hardly ever give a one star review but I felt the need to post a review on how my niece and I were treated and the lack of flavor in the food. First we were not brought any water but we're asked if we were ready to order. We asked for the cocktail menu and some water and chips and salsa. Once she brought the cocktail menu and no waters she asked if we we're ready to order. We said no that we wanted to take our time and chat and that we ate really slow. She took our cocktail order. Cocktails came and still no water or chips and salsa. She asked again if we wanted to order. I looked at my niece and told the waitress we will order but please don't put our order in yet since we want to have our chips and salsa and have a drink or two. Well after 10 minutes she finally brought the salsas but no chips and no water. We asked for chips again and she said it's a 3 dollar charge. Then all our food came out and no chips or water still. After 35 minutes our chips came but never no water. The food was bland and Luke warm. I have lived in California and am married to a Mexican and can cook authentic food. This was the worse service and mediocre food I've had in a long time. I feel bad for my niece who paid so much money for horrible food and service.

Yelp
Yummy food, real Mexican flavors, friendly staff, I've been here a few times while in the area, my favorite meals are enchiladas de mole and the mole de olla too. You can tell it's real mexican because as soon as you come in they serve you free of charge real salsas and chips, they serve real refried beans not from a can like other places I've been. So happy to be here, keep up the good work ¡Gracias!

Penelope L.

Yelp
Favorite Mexican place in this neighborhood! I've ordered both takeout and delivery several times, all positive. Super yummy. Great tamales, my partner loves the chicken burrito, rich flavorful sauces. I'd add a picture but I always devour my food once it arrives..

Yelp
So i have to say im very mad and disappointed about my experience from tonight So me and my family always come to this place Everything is always good ,service up to par, food is always fresh and hot.but tonight wasn't the case,I came in at 10:40ishh ,and i had googled there restaurant closing times and it said for saturdays they close at midnight so i came in very comfortable and me and my family started to order ,my mother had order a mexican stew called huasmole and when she got it and tried it ,it tasted very sour and this is a food my Mother knows well so you cant really fool her So when we told the waitress if we could get something else she was very doubtful and came with a very rude tone and fine she was like what else can i get you then?my mother said and order of Tacos arabes so she leaves and comes back saying that the front kitchen was closed and we can only Order from the back . At that point i was very annoyed everyone was cleaning and in a rush to leave so i asked her what time you close and she said at 11pm So i told her online it stated that at 12 midnight they close She looked at me and said we've never closed at midnight So this became an argument back and forth So i told her to just drop this argument since she looked like she was never going to stop, give me my check and pack my food to go Since everyone is in a rush to leave This waitress did not care about making things right And making things better in my end Instead she kept talking back at me and all the cooks were all annoyed and being noisy now that they had seen me very upset and calling out every single one of them I don't know what kind of management you guys have but you have alot of improving to do We've been customers since day one but this has gone to far Much luck running a business with employees that don't care about customer service

Andy B.

Yelp
The best Mexican food that I've had in many years. Delivery was on time. I had fried calamari, chicken enchiladas, rice with black beans.

CJ D.

Yelp
This is my second time coming to this place. First time was 2 or 3 years ago. Once I walked in, I remembered that the food was ok but not the best Mexican food I've ever had. So I decided to stay and order anyway. There was a pretty decent size of us there and everyone ordering different things. I got the Chicken Enchilada with Mole Sauce. It was ok but I've had better. If you guys want really good Mole without having to go to Mexico. I would recommend Rosa Mexicano. So good. Still dream about it today. ::mouth watering as I write this.lol.:: Anyway, like I said food was ok. Back to the story, when waitress put all the food down. She also put on the table a plate of chips and salad. I was so hungry that I didn't even think to ask if anything was extra. I knew the chips were free but didn't think to ask if the salad was free too. Just assume it since she brought both out at the same time after everyone's food was served. Should have. We ate from the salad but not all of it. Come to find out that they charged us for the salad but no one ordered it. At this point we were stuck paying for it since we ate out of it.. Not only that, but they charged us for our to-go containers.. What restaurant does that?!! And if you are, you should tell people that it's an extra fee.. I could have brought my own containers from home if that was the case. I have plenty. Don't think I will EVER go back there. Food wasn't worth the hour long ride back and front to get there.

Mizan R.

Yelp
i've gotten the tacos and they are simply amazing. the nachos are real good too. they really know how to season and they use good quality ingredients on some real talk.

Javier C.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in East Harlem. You have to visit this place for real Mexican food, this place and Taco Mix are my spots. If you come here during the weekend try the "menudo" you will not be disappointed. I think they are called the Vikingo and Chilango taco those are also great options. The service is also amazing. Great place for a Saturday or Sunday hungover with a michelada

Arlythea T.

Yelp
ordered dinner via seamless and it was decent. I ordered birria tacos and they were lacking in the flavor. I've had birria many times and this one is pretty underwhelming, overall it was a great value and size for the cost, I just will have to explore the menu further

Sam R.

Yelp
Superb. So happy with the smoothie and The aguacate enchiladas. So grateful to have had such a splendiforously enjoyable lunch break. May god continue to eternally bless y'all. Can't wait to come back! :) thanks so much!

Jiho S.

Yelp
Quality Mexican food is hard to find in Manhattan, we know this. This place isn't the best I've had but I give it the Manhattan discount since relatively it's pretty good. Decent tacos, large portions, and reasonable prices. Clean place to boot. Wish they had a wider variety of tacos though such as beef tongue etc. They ask if you want lettuce on your tacos, don't be a gringo and just say no thank you!

Logann L.

Yelp
Hefty portions with shockingly good take-out pina coladas. The meat isn't the highest quality, but it's hard to beat the price and the portions. Plus did I mention the deliciously creamy pina colada? I hate frozen drinks that are mostly ice, and this was both creamy and survived the delivery well.

Erica L.

Yelp
Well even though I ordered delivery and am literally around the corner I expected better for some reason then the experience I got. I ordered on a Tuesday at noon. Ordered shrimp quesadilla with rice and beans and side of fries. Quesadilla wasn't cut which is normally how I'm used to receiving it. Shrimp was overcooked and rice was bland. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day but I won't be ordering again considering the plenty of authentic Mexican spots in the area that have tasted delicious.

J R.

Yelp
Good food good prices and good staff. Quality food in The 116th neighborhood. They currently have outdoor dining as well

Zachary S.

Yelp
A wonderfully tiny gem in the heart of East Harlem. It doesn't miss a beat! The food, ambiance and helpful service seems to be consistent each and every time I come here. Im hoping they get more popular because they certainly deserve the attention. Although, the boost in business might drive their affordable prices up. Even if, I'd still make it here as often as possible.

Giacomo C.

Yelp
I just came back from this place and I wonder why people like it so much. I had lunch here with my gf. She's Mexican, so we know what good Mexican food tastes like. Despite the inspiring neighborhood, not here. She had a torta with grilled beef, and I had 3 tacos. The grilled beef in her torta and in one of my tacos didn't even taste grilled. It was low quality, very fatty and filled with cartilage. The second taco I ordered had roasted pork, and it made me sick. I don't know which part of the pig they selected, but it tasted gross. My last taco had intestines, and it was actually tasty; at least it seemed fresh. We were quite surprised, because we had to wait a while before being served, which made us think that the food served had to be fresh. We were sad to be wrong. Their jamaica (agua de ibiscus) was great... not too sweet. The service was very warm and kind, but with so many better choices in the hood, I have no reason to go back to this place.

Lex C.

Yelp
Was given the recommendation by the Chef at my job as he lives in the area and I trust his opinion. Food was good and plentiful. I had the Enchilada Rojas and it was a perfect amount of spice to my liking. The beans and rice were a little bland, though. Chips and guacamole were good!

Jenny L.

Yelp
Food is good . Marisol is super nice and kind. I told her I'm allergic to cilantro and Marisol personally called me and asked if I'm allergic to oregano or any other things? Thank you Marisol

Loren R.

Yelp
Ordered the Birria Tacos . It was phenomenal. Probably the best Mexican I've had in NYC to this day. Ordered in the evening and the delivery was prompt. Definitely worth a try if you appreciate authentic Mexican food.

Andrea D.

Yelp
The Mexican is local and I love it! The guacamole is delicious they don't spare any ingredients the salsa is delicious with a kick. The bean burrito is a nice size. The beans are creamy and delicious. The margarita could use another shot but that's just my personal taste... enjoy

Tiffany C.

Yelp
Live in the area decided to try this place . First time here was a month ago. I had the mango margarita which was too sweet to drink, second time here was today! I decided to give them another shot and it was horrible steak taste extremely old and so does the chicken . I'm not sure if they are using low grade meat , however it doesn't taste fresh at all and left me with a stomachache! The happy hour frozen margarita taste like old ice that's been in the freezer for too long. So I decided to get a second drink this time asking for the happy hour margarita on the rocks. The waitress had the nerve to go to the back to make my margarita when the bar is directly in the front of the restaurant! Which was extremely disturbing to me. Food is bland and needed lots of salt, pepper and hot sauce! I will no longer be returning to this restaurant, horrible low grade meat and old tasting margaritas. I will give zero star if I could! And the nerve of the waitress to have an attitude after I told her I didn't want a drink that came from the back of the kitchen!

Suzie L.

Yelp
Oh my god. So good!!!! Tacos are so flavorful and huge!!!! I got the carnitas, cecina and enchilada tacos with rice and beans on the side, delicious!!!!!!!! Literally have a food baby atm. I'd def come back here when I'm in the Harlem area.

Anel L.

Yelp
Recently order the Soup Pancita, and my mom really enjoyed it. Was very delicious with lots of flavor. She also order the tamales Oaxaqueño, and as a Mexican, I knew that something was wrong with that tamal. First the size of it was like a brick, in thickness and height. Inside of the brick was a full size chicken cutlet. It was dry and no flavor. Really disappointed.

Julie B.

Yelp
As many others have stated, the tacos are really great. But my boyfriend and I love Delicias for their fresh juices and bacon egg and cheese sandwiches on authentic, fresh-baked pan Mexicana. I'd like to thank my former hungover self for making this life-changing discovery that has made me return again and again on lazy Sundays for the past two years. My fitness studio would also like to thank Delicias for the eight pounds I've gained, which has undoubtedly translated into more business for them! ;)

Hillary M.

Yelp
If you want authentic Mexican food in Spanish Harlem make sure to come here !! I've ordered almost everything off the menu from tacos to burritos and sopes !!! The food never disappoints here and I truly recommend this place. The staff is friendly here as well as fast ofc!

Yazmin G.

Yelp
My experience in this newly renovated restaurant was POOR!! It had pricey Margaritas for $15.00 for a regular size. Not like it is an upscale restaurant. The Cemita gave me stomachache. My daughter ordered Enfrijoladas where she found chicken cartilage!! Unbelievable. Not coming back, Never again.

Michelle A.

Yelp
It was fast service and the music was lit. I order tacos de chorizo and a agua de jamaica. The chorizo was not spicy but the salsa verde was and trust me, I love spicy! We ordered a margarita and a mojito. They were both good. The posole was good too. I highly recommend this place.

Kaysha N.

Yelp
I came here a few days before the new year for breakfast. I am from CA but live in VA and wanted to get some tasty Mex while I was in a metro zone. This did the trick. I got the tacos al pastor, birria, pozole(blanco), and horchata. The price was a bit high, but I think it's fair because the ingredients are fresh and of high quality, they are well prepared, and the portions are generous. The al pastor was the only thing that I was not particularly fond of, because it had pineapple in it, which I am not used to. The soups were to die for, the salsa was pleasantly picante, and the horchata was not overwhelming sugar water but rather a creamy spicy delight. The restaurant was clean and modern looking. The service was courteous but not overbearing. I did not use the restroom, so I cannot comment on that. I would recommend this to anyone looking for honest home style Mexican food.
