"Las Delicias is a Downtown Berkeley restaurant featuring Salvadoran classics like pupusas, corn tamales, yucca frita, and incredibly light pastelitos de carne (empanadas stuffed with minced meat and veggies). They also have Mexican staples like tacos and burritos, too. Everything here is flavorful and reasonably priced for the large portions. Some must-orders: the hearty pupusas with fresh curtido, and the churrasco salvadoreño, a massive mixed plate that includes grilled flank steak, a delicious chorizo, casamiento (rice and beans), and two super thick corn tortillas. Whatever you get, don’t leave without trying their empanadas de plátano de leche - fried mashed plantain balls filled with milk, sugar, and cinnamon." - Lani Conway

Life-giving. I had the habanero bean and cheese variety and the mango passion fruit drink. Clean and neat interior also. 🦜✨.

Google
So good! $5 for a pupusa, so you can have a delicious meal for only $10! Comes with salsa and a cabbage sort of topping on the side. Really cute inside but I took it to go. Nice people and delicious fresh food :)

5 minutes before they closed, I accidentally forgot to order 2 fish so they made a second fish better than the original one. Meanwhile I ate the chicken pupusas and they were so crispy with a strong smell I knew they were delicious before I even saw them. The food was so hot it was burning my fingers holding it and when I got home it was still hot which is perfect for a to go takeout order.

Google
Such a good Salvadoran spot! If any Central Americans are craving comfort foods (and anyone else!), you should stop by. Try the churrasco salvadoreno! It was delicious! The Agra Fresca is also really nice to sip outside :)

Google
Dishes seem very comfort food and great if you don't want spicy. I liked their quesabirrieria, cheese and loroca pupusa, and mulitas, a hybrid grilled cheese with tortilla instead of bread (new fav). Much more menu to explore, vegetarian, seafood, and steak. I left with money in my pocket, definitely can afford to eat there anytime. Thanks las D!

The main entry has such nice plating and assortment of colors that for a second that I think I am on vacation! Papusas are very tasty as well!

Google
I'm delighted to write a positive review for Las Delicias, your favorite Salvadoran restaurant! Their food is truly amazing, but let me tell you, their pupusas are an absolute delight. From the moment you take your first bite, you're transported to a world of delicious flavors and authentic Salvadoran cuisine. The combination of the soft, thick corn tortilla filled with savory ingredients is simply heavenly. I ordered through Grubhub and their food was fresh and piping hot even after delivery. Las Delicias has truly mastered the art of crafting pupusas that are both flavorful and satisfying. Their dedication to quality ingredients and attention to detail shines through in every bite. Whether you're a pupusa aficionado or a first-time explorer of Salvadoran cuisine, Las Delicias is the place to be. You won't be disappointed!

Google
Some of the best food and service I’ve had at any restaurant in Berkeley. The restaurant was closing, and the employees still decided to let me and my family in (we were a party of 14.) They were all very friendly and my whole family loved the food.

Vincent D.

Yelp
Pretty fire! This is a low-key resturant with multiple seating options form tables to bar seating. Staff are friendly and quick with service. I got three pupusas for $12. Overall portions were good for the price and they were quite tasty! It was served with cabbage slaw and salsa. I would definitely come here again. The price is very reasonable for the portion size!

Jack R.

Yelp
Here goes, short and sweet. Yes on the pupusas....no on the birria taco. So the pupusa was definitely handmade and 4 stars. Service was super slow and I was one of 3 people there when they opened. Not sure what was going on. They also took forever to make my food. The birria was lacking flavor was was super chewy. Needed to be more tender.

Serina A.

Yelp
This is my new regular spot for Pupusas! I LOVE their Salvadoran horchata and I always get their lunch special with the beans and plantains (even if it's not lunch time)! Highly recommend!!!

Will L.

Yelp
OMG!! The pupusas were so good..old school pupusas recipe..the taco al pastor is best I had in Berkeley.. can't believe I never walk in before.. definitely coming back to try the rest of their menu.. FYI.. they are closed on Sunday

Bel S.

Yelp
The pupusas are so tasty and a great deal. Order at the counter but the staff make an effort to be hospitable and proactive on service

Rose L.

Yelp
Decent carne asada fries! They are crispy if eaten quickly, perfectly topped, and have okay flavor and seasoning. Their pupusas are also very flavorful and great! The outer shell is crunchy while the inside is tender and flavorful. The restaurant is pretty dark to eat in, and they do use cardboard for their fries which can be very soggy. It is also quite busy at times so the wait can be long as well-- which is why it's 4! The fries are ~$14 after tax though which is on the pricier side. I recommend eating in for the food as it is fresh and the condensation can really sober up the food. They also sometimes give a bag of marinated veggies which I really enjoyed, but I noticed that they stopped this during my last two orders. However, the red sauce and veggies were complimentary the times before. The Mexican horchata and Salvadorean horchata tasted relatively the same, both were on the sweeter side.

Yelp
Ordered delivery and was nicely surprised with the flavor and the amount of cheese in the pupusa. Definitely will order those again. The tacos come single layer corn tortilla which appears to be fresh. Chicken was good however carnitas and al pastor were a tad salty.

Judith B.

Yelp
Everything was amazing. From the food to the service. They were suuuuuper quick with the food and it was amazing. We had about 15 people in our party and everybody loved it. The owner and the workers are the sweetest people every 100% recommend ! Food was so good i forgot to take a picture !!!

Evelyn M.

Yelp
I am from El Salvador and it's really hard to find a restaurant with good pupusas and I ordered some from here and I loved them . I ordered from DoorDash, but I wil definitely be bringing my family here soon

Christina M.

Yelp
Best Al pastor mulita I have had! Super flavorful and a good sized portion. Also ordered the revuelta pupusa, which was really good and again a great portion size for the money. The pastelitos were both filling and delicious and for dessert we tried the churros which were crispy, flaky and filled with yummy goodness. I ordered online and my food was ready quickly, friendly interaction with the staff as well. Definitely will be back!

Miguel G.

Yelp
I grabbed my lunch time in this place at 11:15 the food is very nice but horrible customer service the woman with Black curly hair who served me is very despotic and at some point aggressive when she serve the food I hope you take this recommendation into consideration .. thank you

Cody J.

Yelp
Fantastic customer service, not crowded, and great food. I got a burrito and quesabirria. The sauce was perfect with the quesabirria and the steak is insanely juicy and tender. A great food spot downtown.

Andrea G.

Yelp
The pupusas here are great. Their curtido and salsa is one of the best I had so far in the Bay Area. The empanadas are a must try. I will be definitely be coming back to try other items from the menu.

Yelp
I won't recommend after what I see and heard I'm gonna report this business to city of Berkeley because it not professional at all the cook try to kill me I have a food allergy and the cook said that they gonna cooked with the tomato in it because that's how it comes so now I would be seeking legal action against this place and it's owner it not a good place to go when the cook think they in know everything and the owner don't care about the customer concern it not right

Yelp
I'm currently writing this review as I'm eating this food was delicious. Definitely satisfied my hispanic cravings. The food was "muay bien gracias" I had the steak tacos but they had a variety of good choices .My wife had the steak nachos and I got a side of the pupusas(Chicken) was worth it .Overall my experience was great and very helpful environment was welcoming would come back for sure!!!

Yelp
I decided to give myself a treat on Friday while I was in downtown Berkeley, so I ordered empanadas de platano. They are thick, dense, sweet, and very filling and a great choice if you like plantains and/or pastries or carbs in general. They were ready on time when I went to pick up and you get two pretty hefty ones which are enough to stand in for a meal. Thankfully, they come in a paper box too so you'll be able to compost it later. I saw that they also have pupusas on the menu, so if you wanted a new pupusa place to check out in Berkeley, this would be a good option too that is conveniently located near public transit and the university.

Chris C.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place but... The music they were playing was blasting super loud. It was annoying. One girl started my order but she had to do something and another one finished... AND they forgot one item. I did finally get it but was told I never order it when in fact I did, and this wouldn't have happened if 2 waitresses would have taken my order. Overall the food was bland, nothing great, and the prices were average. There are way better Mexican and Salvadorean restaurants in Berkeley with better service. I don't think I will be coming back here.

Elisha S.

Yelp
ORDER.. you won't be disappointed.. I couldn't even get a picture because I was starving.. I met the dasher at the door... ran to the table .. the food was piping hot... I ordered the cheese and zucchini and chicharron papusa.. both were good and flavorful. I was expecting the chicharron to be a lil crispy but it was juicy and flavorful.. I was upset with myself for not getn the chicharron and bean one after having a bite of my sisters.. next time cuz those beans were good .. the empanadas didnt disappoint at all .. again I was so made I should have just trusted the process and got a 2 orders.. next time. They were so good . All the food was packed with flavor. Fresh ingredients and hit the spot..

Lulu W.

Yelp
The ingredients are very fresh, all dishes are freshly made as well. Get the bean and cheese pupusa! The best Salvadoran food in Berkeley.

Cari A.

Yelp
It's been a while since I had a pupusa, so I was excited to learn that this business sells them. I ordered the cheese and jalapeño ($3.25) and also got an order of the mojarra frita ($14.99). Pros: -great service -outdoor seating was available (two small tables). There were also some benches nearby -large portions -close to the downtown Berkeley Bart station and UC Berkeley Cons: -n/a

Pam S.

Yelp
This place just keeps getting better! Be eaten here a handful of times and was never disappointed. But the most recent visit, the pupusas were better than anywhere I've ever been! I highly recommend this restaurant

Bryan A.

Yelp
Amazing service!! Food was exquisite! I enjoyed my time here in Berkeley because of las delicias.

S K.

Yelp
Delicious food and great deals for the daily specials. They do take awhile to make your food though, so if you plan on getting them on your lunch, I suggest calling in advance.

Yuli O.

Yelp
I LOVE pupusas! And this place knows how to make them delicious! I stopped by with a friend after class and got 2 beans and cheese pupusas. They took about 10-15 minutes to make my order. The pupusas were fresh off the grill and came with a side of salsa and curtido. Many places will give you curtido that is too fresh (you gotta let it sit for a while!) but this place did it just right. The salsa paired well with the pupusas and was very flavorful. The pupusas themselves were sooooooo good. They were super cheesy and warm and just literally perfect. I love when the cheese oozes out and gets crispy which you can see happened with my pupusas. The masa was well cooked and had a good flavor to it. My only suggestions are that the pupusa were a bit more oily than I like and I wish there was more beans. The pupusa was like 70% cheese and 30% bean and while that may be what some enjoy I prefer a little more bean. These are both pretty minor things and I would say the taste, price, and experience made me be able to see past that.

Gregg S.

Yelp
Yummy food. Fast service. REASONABLE Prices. First time, Came when I was in a rush because it was very close to Berkeley Rep. Back tonight with my husband because I loved it.

Victor G.

Yelp
Las delicias Salvadoran takes over Theraphu Burmese space. infrastructure may be similar. just take out, outside dining available. cash only. offerings: pupusa, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, sides. mulitas. eats: al pastor (2.75), fish taco (3.75) lime, jalepeno, radish garnishes -fish taco had freshly fried fish pieces, nice salsa. -al pastor wasn't overly fried, protein wasn't chewy -good sized potions, fresh ingredients, yummy.. -came out within 5 ish minutes.

Monika F.

Yelp
The best papusas!!!! Love this place. Great quick lunch spot. Lots of options for papusa fillings - your cant go wrong, they're all delicious!

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Awesome pupusas, plenty of curtido, and yummy Salvadorean horchata (My first time trying! Tastes like sesame and peanuts). Yum!

Karl D.

Yelp
Excellent food and fast service. Great if you want a quick bite before going to the jazz club or Berkeley Rep. Try adding Salvadoran tortillas to your dish for a tasty change. If you don't like home-in-the wall vibes (or a TV in the dining area), go for takeout.

Eliaquin J.

Yelp
Food was really good. The popusa was filled with beans and cheese. I loved it. There was more filling than masa which is what I really like about it. It was not greasy so I did not feel guilty eating them. The yucca that we got was a lot and soooo good. Overall very good food. Will def come here again.

Matthew C.

Yelp
Pupusa was damn delicious, habanero had real kick to it. Cali burrito was balanced and super filling.

Brendan H.

Yelp
What a truly amazing addition to the downtown Berkeley food scene! Affordable drinks with tasty pupusas and incredibly quality of ingredients. We ordered the típico plate with a bunch of dishes and they were all impeccably cooked and tasty. We love Salvadoran food and am so happy to find this place and we'll be back and we'll be bringing friends!

Diran S.

Yelp
I go here every taco tuesday for the $10 taco special. The service is very quick and professional. Definitely a top 5 place for any high school or college student or anyone around.

Erika H.

Yelp
Some of the best vegan pupusas I've ever had! Huge, flavorful and no lard to my understanding! It was just beans but combined with the curtido it was phenomenal! So glad my job ordered them for our professional development lunch!

Chef J.

Yelp
I stopped in for a queso birriera and while looking at the menu I also ordered the al pastor mulitas and a jalapeno and cheese pupusa. Wow, very delicious. The birriera was crunchy and filled with tender beef and melty cheese. It was served with a small cup of broth that enhanced the beefyness. The pupusa was soft and had a tender dough that was filled with cheese, a few jalapeno slices made it a little spicy and just felt like homemade comfort food. The mulitas, kind of a grilled cheese with meat and a mild salsa was amazing. The prices seemed very reasonable and I will return for more!

Ruben R.

Yelp
The pupusas and pastelitos de carne were delicious! We would definitely go back to try more!

Lucero M.

Yelp
Not to throw any shade but I was about to go to a different Salvadoran place up the road that was more reviewed, but that place was trying to sell me a SIDE of rice and beans for $16!! LOL My Hispanic roots could not handle it. Lmao Then I found this place much more appropriately priced and then I tasted the food and WOW! Let me tell you, that is exactly the way a pupusa is supposed to taste! I got the habanero, beans, and cheese and it was absolutely delicious! The rice beans were great, and the pasteles(tamales) had great flavor too! Wanted to leave a review because I feel like people should know how gem of a place this is!!

Ogami I.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite papusas in Berkeley. It's not just the great food, but the great prices (not a fan of the $4.50 per Papusa that other places charge). My usual order is 2 cheese Papusas and 2 bean and cheese Papusas. The curtido and salsa are excellent. They reheat great on a medium-heat skillet for 1.5-2 minutes each side. The tacos here are also great. I get the carnitas. I was not a fan of their burrito and only ordered it once.

Byron R.

Yelp
I am Salvadorian-American and I catered my daughter's 1-year birthday party from this place because I love it so much. The other Salvadorian restaurant (that I won't name) that my family had been loyal to for years isn't as good as it used to be, so they were all amazed at just how good this place was -- I had to show them on a map where it was. Absolutely authentic. They are trying to build up their business so the least I could do is write a great review for them. Please give this place a shot. If you don't have any idea what to order but want a true Salvadorian flavor, order two pupusas 'revueltas' with a salvadorian horchata and an empanada for dessert, and it'll all be super unique to Salvadorian cuisine. But everything on the menu is amazing.

Rebecca S.

Yelp
My new favorite place. We had Mojarra Frits (deep fried tilapia, soooo good), chicharron and cheese puppies, al pastor taco, carne asada taco, and quesabirria taco with consommé. Everything was so delicious. We are heading back there for the fish in a couple days. Can't wait. I was so good I almost forgot to take some pics

Hrag K.

Yelp
Delicious and quality revuelta Papusa's, highly recommend it! Go support them! Will definitely come back

Ken L.

Yelp
I feel inclined to write a review because I really liked the meal I had here, and I hope they do well! I ordered food to go, so my rating is purely on the quality of the food and the price. Tacos - got a plate of 4 and were tasty with a good char on the corn tortillas. Well seasoned and even better with the salsa Pupusas - the main reason I wanted to try this place as I don't know any other places in Berkeley that make them. I had a cheese and bean pupusa, and another with everything, and both were solid. The pickled vegetable and sauce that came with it paired well Horchata - these was a Salvadoran Horchata, so it had a few more flavors in it that I was used to, including peanut or sesame. Pretty good as well, but I think I like the almost too sugary standard Horchata if I were to have them side by side. All in all, definitely worth trying again!

Nathan J.

Yelp
Had lunch here on a Wednesday and got the lunch special with 3 pork bean and cheese pupusas. Delicious, very filling, and only $10. Great deal - will return again when I'm in Berkeley around lunchtime.

Laurel D.

Yelp
I cannot stress how delicious this place is. From pupusas to tacos to pastelitos, I cannot get enough of this delicious Salvadoran-Mexican hybrid. GF available, too - just make sure to ask for rice pupusas instead of the original My favorites? The picadillo pastelitos make my Floridian heart homesick for good times over similar flavors Just wait for them to cool so you don't blister your lip like I did make sure to get the Loco pupusas which have all of the fillings together. Carnitas AND carne asada made for amazing, generously portioned tacos. Honestly, I cannot wait to try everything on the menu. I'll absolutely be back and I'll be updating as we go through the menu!

Jennifer R.

Yelp
I came in for lunch and was seated immediately. The service was excellent, and the food was even better. I can't wait to try more stuff on the menu.

Marisela A.

Yelp
Delicious, fresh and authentic pupusas. Worth the 15-20min wait. The woman running front of the house is also incredibly sweet.

A B.

Yelp
This place is great. I got to go but it had lots of atmosphere; the pupusas were all excellent. My favorite were the loroco with beans and cheese and the habanero! Strong recommend :)

Cassie B.

Yelp
There food is so delicious and filling! Would recommend trying the burrito, tamal, or the bean and cheese pupusas.

Chelsea P.

Yelp
Never been to Berkeley before and have been feeling home sick for pupusas, I gave this place a try. I'm super picky with my pupusas sadly because of my grandma spoiling me. I got revueltas (pork, cheese, and bean), bean and cheese, and just cheese pupusas. I think the pork was lacking a little bit of seasoning. The beans were yummy and the cheese was stringy. I also ordered the empanadas and they were delicious. I got the plátanos and they were also great. The curtido was not as pickled as much as I'm use to. The salsa for the pupusas were also lacking some salt. Lastly I got the horchata, and it reminded me of home. It was a great experience and I don't mind coming again. I finally found my pupusa place! Will be back soon :)
