The 10 Best Margaritas in San Francisco, Ranked

"Drink: House Margarita The name of this Mission bar pretty much gives it away: this is the best margarita in the city. This low-key spot is easy to miss, with just one small sign hanging over the entrance. But inside, you’ll find a $10 margarita that’s perfect for starting any kind of night. Served on the rocks and in a classic scooped glass, it’s sour enough to make your lips pucker, has a strong kick, and features just enough sweetness on the end to smooth everything out. Las Margaritas Bar Review - Mission - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Slightly hidden next to the 24th St BART station, Las Margaritas Bar in the Mission is big enough to host an impromptu tequila-focused birthday party. There’s no menu, but that’s okay, because you're here to order the best margarita in the city. Expect a classic margarita served on the rocks with the right balance of sweet and sour, and a few blended margaritas made with fresh fruit juice like mango and watermelon. The only question is whether to go classic or ask the bartender-owner what fruit flavors they have that day. And at $10 each, these margaritas are practically free by SF standards." - Ricky Rodriguez

Visiting town, stopped in for a quick drink. Stayed for six. Great drinks, good prices, nice spot, and the bartender Francisco is both an excellent bartender but also an absolute class act with how he treated another patron that was having a hard time. Would’ve stayed longer if I could have. Will be coming back next time I’m in town.

The best margaritas in town, you can't just order one! Get the blended mango margarita and thank me later. Francisco is a stellar bartender and makes everyone feel at home.

My wife and I had our first date at this location while it was still 24th St Bar years ago. Recently went to check out the new place under the new ownership, and it was fantastic. The bartender / owner was super friendly, and the drinks were both delicious and great value! Highly recommended.

Google
Agree with all the other reviewers… the margs were great, not too sweet, and they have every option. Bartender really makes the experience, best service we’ve ever had a bar!

Yelp
What a lovely little bar! I wanted to eat and/or drink after getting my brows done in the Mission and Las Margaritas caught my eye, given the name and high ratings. I arrived around 1pm and was the only patron for a bit. The bartender/owner couldn't have been nicer and got me started with a mango margarita and a basket of pretzels. As others have mentioned, there are a few big tvs and the music, at least this afternoon, is a nice mix of Latin and jazz, which is my jam. My two drinks (mango and classic margarita) were both delicious. I would kill for some street tacos but it looks like you can bring in outside food. Next time Will definitely return!

Yelp
Where can I start! The bartender was really sweet and shared us some recommendations for the next sweet treat place around the block, or the next brand to purchase for whiskey or tequila! Ambiance was really nice, as there were TV's playing various sports on the walls. There were two clean bathrooms. Ooh, and there were great veggie chips to share!

Yelp
I don't give out a lot of 5-stars. So I want to emphasize how knowledge the bartender was to me and my s/o. Not only that, he provided great service by answering our every question in regards to the drinks', chips, as well as recommendations as me and my partner don't drink a lot! 5-stars also because the ambiance was welcoming and just warmly-lit inside enough to keep you feeling cozy.

Yelp
I'm sure it's been here for months, but I only recently noticed the sign as I was strolling 24th Street. A guy walked out of the bar, and I was guessing it was the bartender getting some air. He looked at me looking at the bar, but I wasn't ready to commit. After collecting more of my daily steps, I came back an hour later, entered the bar, and lo and behold, it was that guy. His name is Francisco, and he's the owner. He immediately charmed me by saying he was glad I came back. Of course I was also the only customer at 3:30PM, though it started to populate soon after my arrival. I thought for my inaugural drink I should go with the namesake. I ordered the $11 Peach Margarita, and it was quite a delight (photo: https://yelp.to/Et6xePppkQ). No more so than the conversation. It turned out he was involved with the running of Regalito Rosticeria, one of my favorite Mission eateries (review: https://yelp.to/rLGmHqZfeA). He also ran the Spitfire Rose bar in the Outer Mission over a decade ago, so he knows a lot about the greater neighborhood. Certainly enough for another round, this time the even fruitier $11 Mango Margarita (photo: https://yelp.to/pVKyuv3_JD). I think Francisco has me hooked on his libations and good company. DRINKS - 5 stars...margaritas for days in all flavors possible AMBIANCE - 4 stars...nice space, fairly compact but convivial SERVICE - 5 stars...Francisco is a font of local knowledge and good vibes TOTAL - 5 stars...it's more than margaritas but start with them RELATED - Exploring the Mission? Yelp
If you go the mission and don't go here you are missing out. Francisco is the best bartender. So happy and the service is amazing.

Yelp
Love this place... kind of a hidden gem! Came here after Portola (near the shuttle stop) and it was the highlight of the weekend! Ended up coming back the next day before the fest. The bartender, Francisco was so friendly and he made the best margaritas I've had in this town. The vibe is divey ... but not dirty/ sticky floor/ plastic cup kind of vibes. It also has TVs so great spot to catch a game too. They don't have food I think, which is fine... because I wasn't trying to eat, but my friend asked for chips and we got Ruffles (which is my fav chip)..lol. I also liked that the margaritas came in a glass cactus glass. It was very cute and I appreciate things like that! Thank you Fransisco for the good vibes and good drinks. I appreciate him even taking the time to also share some travel tips. Really made me wish it was my local bar, but unfortunately I live in trash LA :( .... Till next time!

Yelp
The new best place in the Mission! Friendly and affordable! Local family man and business owner, Francisco, is very knowledgeable of his neighborhood, fellow businesses, and patrons! Welcoming for everyone! Came here to celebrate finishing an exam with my parents! Friendly conversation and great drinks!

Yelp
So glad I tried this place out! Very friendly bartender, Great drinks at great prices... I had a mango margarita, that had a tajin rim... yum! Then I had the classic, and it was delicious. Balanced. Very cozy, nice atmosphere, and easy to have a conversation, as the music was not too loud. It's a nice addition to the neighborhood!!

Yelp
Great place to have drinks. Frank, the bartender is awesome. Super attentive and makes a hell of a margarita. Easy to have a beer and catch the train across the street. It is the quintessential after-work spot.

Yelp
Four of us stopped in late Saturday evening for a nightcap after dinner at Dojani, where they serve no hard liquor. So we really needed a good margarita to chase down the excellent enchiladas mole from Dojani. Walking up 24th Street, the neon sign at Las Margaritas was all we needed to get us in the door. Despite a busy bar, Francesco quickly welcomed us and stirred up some very tasty Cadillac Margaritas. The ambiance was perfect for the four of us, ie, no blaring music so we could actually have a nice conversation without shouting, and while there are three TVs, they're high up enough on the wall that they're easy to ignore if you choose. We'll definitely hurry back, this is destined to be a great addition to the neighborhood.

Yelp
Surprised to find the bar location open yesterday afternoon after being dark for so long. Francisco the owner/bartender warmly welcomed me in. The decor hasn't changed much since its last incarnation as 24th St Bar. While talking with him, found he's a fellow SF native (there aren't that many of us). Nice time while sipping my cocktail. My suggestion to Francisco is that he put together some signature margaritas for the bar (considering the name), touting the use of fresh juices, top shelf tequilas displayed prominently, perhaps initially using a "sandwich board" to drum up business. Hopefully these suggestions will solidify the bar's standing in the area & community. Glad to see this establishment refilling an all too prevalence of empty storefronts in the Mission.

Yelp
Francisco was amazing and the margaritas were on point! Would recommend this place to anyone in the missiom

Yelp
What a hidden gem! The most warm and welcoming staff, and Francisco makes a killer margarita. Bring your friends.

Yelp
Great new place with amazing margs! $10 skinny margs - can't beat the price! Francisco was such a nice guy. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
I like dive bars and I live in the Mission. Las Margaritas is not a dive bar and I hope it never becomes one. Its actually very surprising to have a simple cantina like bar where its never a "scene", so far not loud or rowdy. This is a very nice, clean comfortable place in the Mission, and although you won't find craft cocktails here or an extensive tequila/mezcal list, Las Margaritas offers good beers or basic shots and great service. Francisco is the owner of the business and the only bartender. He's friendly and kind and he treats everyone with such respect. He is a real gentleman! True to its name, Las Margaritas offers frozen margaritas! I honestly have not had a frozen margarita in over 10 years, but I decided to have one in the spirit of the bar's name, and I really enjoyed it!! He can also make a strawberry version. On my last visit some people ordered a watermelon margarita which I didn't know about! Frank has a couple of large TV screens, so it's a great place to watch a game even though I wouldn't call this a sports bar per se. I hope more people will come here because it's a real gem in the Mission.
