I recently toured Nashville for the first time. An experience that was full of wonderful discoveries and amazing experiences thanks to a few amazing insider tips. But my favorite tip might just well be Las Palates. Because the south has a love affair with popsicles. Ice cream can be found here too. But if you look around, you'll notice that the humble popsicle--that simple summertime treat from childhood--has been pushed to more exalted heights in places like Georgia and Tennessee. And one of the very best examples is Nashville's own Las Palentas.
As you've no doubt read among the glowing reviews here on Yelp, this place is known for its variety. An abundance of delicious and unexpected flavors. So many that I would argue that you must try more than one. But for me, what sets this place apart is the quality. Because freezing things is easy. But creating a treat the can balance the subtle favors and textures of these ingredients without an overbearing sweetness, and in a form that is sturdy without being an ice cube, is what makes Las Palentas great. Fantastic execution is the hallmark of a great cook. And Las Palentas nails it.
Finally, I encourage you to try something unexpected. Because, while the fruity and refreshing flavors are terrific. The real treat for those in the know is Avocado. Which is sublime, as is the Golden Milk. So given 'em a try. But event if that isn't your speed. Do try Las Palentas.
