Las Palmas Hotel

A literal crack den, with dirty rooms, bed bugs, and bad service. This motel is paid by the city to shelter the homeless, and attracts primarily a clientele of violent drug addicts and the mentally ill. There is an encampment outside the hotel on the sidewalk with fights, fires, and blasting music at all hours - the operators of this motel have no incentive to get this encampment moved, as whenever they have an empty room, they just pull someone in and give them “shelter,” billing the city for more than $2000 a month. They also advertise their rooms on sites as “beautiful, clean, and quiet;” your mileage may vary.

Stayed here during Pride weekend with my family and it was a great experience. It felt centric and I could walk to mostly everything down the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The front desk was helpful and made sure that we had a good experience. I stayed in the Suite with 1 single bed and 2 double beds - no ac but the fans and windows kept the room cool. They make this very clear from the start. It was also recently updated which was a plus. Would stay here again!

I've stayed here more than 5 months total. It is a decent hotel if you aren't too picky. The management is not rude as others have said. Usually it is the guests that are rude and demanding. Things that could be improved: It is difficult to keep the floor clean. The room service / cleaning crew is barely ever around. The room seems to fall apart very easily. You can't take a bath unless you plug the drain yourself. The air doesn't circulate very well unless your door is open. The hallways are usually dirty Fridge is too small

I'm so surprised by all the negative reviews for this place. I had a really nice stay and would call this a hidden gem in LA. The price is fantastic for what you're getting, but you have to expect the accommodations to reflect the price. The room was completely fine and I checked really carefully for any signs of bugs and there were none. I also checked for any signs of hidden cameras since I'm really careful about that kind of stuff. There was nothing out of the ordinary. The man at the front desk was nice and I was charged properly. It was a really nice stay and I'll probably be back again. The security of the property, the cleanliness, and the price really made it an awesome deal. If you're looking for a luxury hotel, this isn't it, but if you want a cheap safe and clean place, this hotel is great.

This place is getting only getting a decent rating for location, and you obviously get what you pay for. The lack of stars is due to the horrible service from the woman working the desk. We checked into the room, left to eat, returned, and within minutes a stranger entered our room. He brushed it off as if WE did something wrong, and when I called the front to confront the issue, she brushed me off as if I imagined it, claiming there was only one key and he must've just "tried" to get in. She said she would look into it and never even got in contact with us again. Absolutely disgusting they would make me feel at fault for their atrocious mistake. If my stuff had been stolen... And none of this includes the state of the room or thin walls.

Where they filmed that last scene of pretty woman....but low key they do have roaches.

I am absolutely appalled by having to write this, but it needs to be said straight away. Not long ago, a dear friend of mine went to a concert for the weekend and stayed at this exact hotel to relax. It shouldn't come as any surprise that someplace as good of a reputation as this shouldn't be bad, right? Well, as it turns out, the room reeked something horrible and the bed they laid on was covered in filthy, filthy lice!! That is absolutely not okay!! Not only did this place have the nasty creatures scurrying on their sheets but the folk at the front desk were completely unmoved by it and held themselves unaccountable for such negligence. The hotel manager was informed and he had avoided responsibility by claiming that the sheets weren't property of the hotel, and had refused to refund any credit to my friend! How absurd is that! I can't believe that a place with a four star, positive rating through Google may I add, be so disrespectful and dirty. I am not at all pleased by their poor acts of service and refuse to visit here, ever. So, in close, I think I may just step away from this hotel and take my money elsewhere. Ugh!

Good, affordable place to crash for a night! Extremely bare-bones, but clean and had everything we needed for one night. Felt pretty safe and was more quiet than I would have expected for that part of town. Staff wasn't super friendly, but that wasn't a big deal. Seems like a lot of these negative reviews are unnecessarily harsh.

Upstairs we had loud neighbors. Literally they're the loudest people in the building and nothing was done. They had music at unreasonable hours such as 1AM or 3AM. Nor the security guard or manager did a thing. Had the worst sleep in my entire traveling career and really was craving coffee cups at the end of each night. I don't mind music but at reasonable hours would make sense such as daytime. Im a traveling night shift nurse and Im used to working late but this was horrendous. I wanted to save money but it wasn't worth the discomfort of loud music and horrible noise. If youre like me and needs a cheaper option and want decent rest.. this isnt the place. I hope they can address this issue in the future because it will just put off stays.

Parking is $10. NO A/C or Heater. Shower was busted. Only stayed 1 night. Service was adequate, but in this area its only Indian owners and the hotels all smell of curry. These types of owners arent known for hospitality or friendliness. Ive stayed at many of these types in this area and its always the same mood with them. Adequate as long as you dont require much or anything. Checked in and the lady was abrupt. Wanted my friends ID as well. For what reason? I was the one who paid for the room. It seems i could have just as easily brought him in through the back door. Also, they say no visitors to the property. That much didn't bother me but it seemed silly. The rooms and bathrooms and flooring are renovated. The bed was simple, but the bed frame had an annoying squeak to it. The fan on the wall made it cool enough in the spring but i dont know if i would stay here in the heat of an LA summer. Parking and check out were simple enough. There is a small ice machine at the front lobby but theres no scoop. I wouldn't stay again if there are similar options around.

Wow, everything about the room was just perfect. Despite the neighborhood being absolutely trashy, the room and service in the hotel was really fine. Had a great stay during Covid quarantine..

First, I'll have to agree with the previous review which says the place smells of curry. True yet probably the best thing about the place. Everything looks like it's about to fall apart. No curtains in the windows of the bathrooms, no ac, doors that don't shut properly. The website says they have free parking. Do not believe this. Their parking lot is "temporarily" closed. Not sure what I expected from this area and the price but I was still very disappointed. If I could rate this place less than one star I would.

First off, the carpet is filthy. It looks like it's never been clean. The first room that he placed me in the sheets were dirty. So we changed rooms and it was better but the room was small and there is no air conditioner. The owner told me that there was a fan in the room lol. That was incredible. The owner claims that it is listed in there description but I looked and it's not listed in their description. It looks like a prison when you first drive up with the high Gates and the only way you could get in is if the owner lets you in plus they charge for parking. There is one plus they are only about a block away from Hollywood Boulevard.

Please stay away .. it's been advertised at 3 1/2 star hotel.com ,,,it's the worst ,dirtiest hotel I've ever been there liars fake pictures Booked for two nights I checked in a late night and I had to leave first thing in morning

No AC in any of the rooms, the beds were rock-solid, a weird smell in the rooms, soap provided is in dispensers which cannot be sanitary, and there were stains on the walls and the bedding. Guess you get what you pay for. Was supposed to stay another night but checked out early to stay at another hotel.

This is a great value for this location! The management and staff at the hotel are very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. The hotel is clean, quiet, there is a walk in closet in the room, HDTV with Direct TV, and the WiFi is super fast. I will stay at this hotel again really soon. This is an older style building, that's kept up very well. This is also a famous movie filming location (The Fire Escape scene from the end of Pretty Woman was filmed here) Centrally located to Hollywood, everything is within a few miles at most, but there are shops, restaurants, cinemas, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Pharmacy, Grocery Store, and convenience stores, all within walking distance. I highly recommend to anyone staying in Hollywood, for their trip to LA, to definitely check this place out

I stayed for another week at the Las Palmas Hotel. Because of the guest rooms pleasing decor, the plum location in the heart of Hollywood, the fine job housekeeping does with Makeup Room and Turndown service, to the managememnt and staff's friendly, always professional customer service; I'm surprised that all of this comes at such a low price. Lastly, I've stayed at quite a few Los Angeles and The Los Palmas Hotel is the only one where I have never seen a roach or been bitten by a bedbug. There's a lot to enjoy on your next stay in Hollywood and this hotel is definitly one of them.

This place is horrific. DO NOT STAY HERE. No parking, no AC, disgusting rooms, hard as rock beds, everything looks like it's falling apart and the area is not safe at all. Front desk was extremely rude and not helpful. Can't believe we even paid $150 for this crap hole. We stayed for 15 minutes and then left to stay at another hotel. STAY AWAY! (Getting our refund right now)

Great place to stay real close to everything had a blast. It is perfect location if your partying in Hollywood. It's literally walking distance to all the clubs and bars. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I recommend it if your looking for a affordable good time.

I was supposed to stay one night but because it was affordable and in a somewhat decent location. I stayed only to find out the pimp who lives in the hotel had been watching me the entire stay. My last day he approached me on the street while out walking. When he mentioned we were staying at the same place I felt I had to be nice cause he clearly had been watching me otherwise I wouldn't have given a stranger the time of day. Throughout the day he proceeded to knock on my door and every time I declined his offers for future shelter, money, drugs or food you name it... he kept coming back trying harder and harder to recruit me to be one of his hoes. I told the front desk and asked if I could be moved to a new room although he'd probably find that one too, they said no because "then there will be 2 rooms to clean in the morning" are you joking!? The next morning I called for a later check out to avoid him since as soon as my lights went on he was knocking pn my door again and outside my window the night before, the women at the front desk said NO more than 20 mins! I'm just calling the cops next time. Very disappointing cause despite the broken heater and freezing room, dirty and stained towels and no surfaces and handles wiped down, I was actually willing to stay longer since I needed a place to stay for a few more days and for the price and low deposit I was able to look past that . However, I left very disappointed that I didn't feel I was safe at all from someone who supposedly lives there and my deadbolt didn't lock entirely and there's no extra lock. Be aware single/all young women.

I was in LA on a business trip with a colleague on Friday and we decided to stay overnight then head out to our final destination in the morning. My Colleague booked a room with a different hotel than I and we split up. We still needed to finish preparing for our meeting we were required to attend the following day so my college came to Las Palmas Hotel to meet me. When he arrived I greeted him in the lobby and we proceeded to head to my room when two people behind the glass rudely yelled out to us and told me he was not allowed and no visitors are allowed at all. This took me by surprise because at check in, the woman who took my money and handed me the key never mentioned anything to me about visitors. Nor did I see any signage. I tried to explain to them that he is my colleague and there was work we had to do on our laptops. The woman and man clearly didn't care that we had to finish preparing for work and only allowed him to stay for 10 minutes. The disgust on their faces at me and my college who is unmistakably gay, left a really bad taste in my mouth. Understandably I was hurt, shocked, then angered by their blatant look of disapproval at us. The staff were extremely cold, unwelcoming and unpleasant. The level of customer service and hospitality at Las Palmas Hotel is seriously lacking or very poor at best. The WiFi is free yet constantly stops working. The bathroom sink didn't have hot water and there was no air conditioner in the entire building,according to the older man. My intuition tells me that those staff members were the owners of the hotel considering how authoritative they made themselves appear. If there was a negative star, I'd rate them -5 . My experience at this establishment is one of the worst I've ever had while traveling. Awful! Just plain awful!! Will never step foot back into that place.

I've read the other reviews on here and I can't say I've had the same experience. I'm not a woman so I had no trouble with the manager. I've stayed at the Hotel Las Palmas a few times, and the next time I'm in town I'll stay again. I always got a receipt when I payed, it was a carbon copy of the ticket he filled out. I never, and I repeat never had a problem with bed bugs. I wouldn't have stayed there if they had bed bugs. Bed bugs are a huge problem in Hollywood. I eventually ended up living in the Alexa Artiste the next street over for a few years, and I would often see a mattress or a couch on a street corner with a warning sign taped to it, "BED BUGS". The fact that I never encountered bed bugs at the Las Palmas is a huge draw for me. The first time I stayed there the manager was somewhat distant and impersonal, which doesn't bother me, as I am the same way. The next time I stayed he was friendly, and mentioned that he remembered me. (I suppose I'm hard to forget). He even helped me carry my luggage out to the taxi. It's not a five star hotel, but for that price in that area it can't be beat. I never had anyone knock on my door as another review posted. Except the maid. I was irritated by the no guest allowed rule, because during one of my extended stays my wife flew out to L.A. for our 11th anniversary, she had to book a room in a dive motel across the street from Hollywood High School, (Budget Inn) I asked the manager if I could have her to my room since she is my wife and he refused. He explained he is worried about prostitution, so he has a strict no guest rule that applies to everyone. The motel she stayed in allowed me in her room, it was disgusting, and she paid $20 more a night for it. I didn't even take my shoes off for fear of walking on their carpet with my bare feet. After seeing her room I was glad I was staying at the Las Palmas. So in closing, if you want a 5 star hotel, then pay for it. If you want a decent comfortable place to stay, for a reasonable rate, then stay at the Las Palmas. As I've already written, I know the next time I'm in town, I shall be staying there.

Well for starters that the groom was very small there was no air conditioner it was hot all they have is a fan it didn't rotate the people who run the place or the business are very disrespectful and they don't like gays or transgenders so don't go there if you're gay or transgender because you will be discriminated against I recommend them shutting down this entire facility or establishment because of the way that it was I don't know if this is the worst day I've ever had in my entire life I don't know how they are still up and running but it was so humid and hot and there is a no guess I know guest visitation rules so even if you did have a motel or you just have a room you couldn't bring anybody in with you so you're trapped in a hot box her however long you have the room for so don't go there it's a waste of time completely waste of money

Do not be fooled by the old yucky exterior in the photos. This place is almost entirely remodeled inside. I wasn't visiting Los Angeles; I live here. But my date and I needed a place to crash out after a New Years Eve party in Hollywood before I drove her back to OC and myself back up to the Valley. To be honest, given the low price and the poor reviews, I was worried this was gonna be ratchety "crack hooker hotel." To my delight, the room was fully modernized and totally immaculate. I mean it was operating-room-level clean, including the sheets, bathroom, towels, etc.. It also had a really nice HD TV and free WiFi. We didn't use the WiFi, but the TV worked fine. A lot of the other reviews complained about dirty carpet. Well, those most be out of date because the floors were all newly installed handsome laminate tiles. The only place there was old carpet was on the stairs. Parking was ample and convenient. Though be warned, they charged an extra $15 to park, which I thought was kinda unfair, but still worth it. We weren't there long enough to judge the customer service. But all in all, a huge bargain. I really don't understand some of these other reviews, especially the recent ones. Maybe the remodel and modernization was extremely recent, or maybe the bad reviews prompted a change? I don't know. We were super happy with the room.

Inexpensive. Great Location. No frills. Leaving your wallet fat! Stay here...cross the street to the Hollywood Roosevelt...beach it by their pool...pay the $40 minimum on fabu food and drink...sip champagne poolside...and STILL be paying less than half of what you would pay in any hotel in the area. Suggestions: Bring Towels and your on Toiletries. I used a sarong to black out the window. Cable is OK. HBO.Internet. NO guests. They are hindu -I get it...trust me if you saw some of the folks that "live" here...you would be happy for them not to have guests too! I got the tip about this place from a friend that works security for Paramount.It ain't the Ritz. Just a crash pad that leaves you with more money to enjoy the good food,drink and entertainment you will have within blocks!

This "hotel" is a huge disgrace... do not spend a dime on staying here, the heat & a/c don't work, the place smells of food as previous reviews have said as well... the owner or whoever works behind the desk, is very rude, and has no manners, or I should say lacks people person skills. This place really has nothing to offer other than it's close to a lot of dope spots & right by the Hollywood walk of fame, and the Blvd. but other than that, it's a total disappointment and waste of money.

awakened at 630am by construction crew working on a new highrise apartment on new years eve 2018 10 feet away from las palmas hotel room was not a happy experience on the southside. Before you rent a room from las palmas hotel first look at the room first check for working heating thermostat, working refrigerator that works bed that has new sheets plastic cover over the mattress before you agree to stay at this residential old Hollywood district hotel this overpriced Hollywood dump on las Palmas ave just south of Hollywood blvd . in reality a fleabag bedbug dust filled hotel where you might get pink eye from using the pillows red bug bites on your body also there is ongoing construction noise 6 days a week of a new hi rise apartment on the south side ten feet from the hotel waking you up at 6am with jack hammers dump trucks this hotel has gotten tons of money from the builders of this high rise to for this to update their hotel & sound proof wear your clothes when you get into bed without plastic cover over the mattress bed it's been advertised at 3 1/2 star hotel.com its not its not even a 1 star , The manager Peter who lives at the hotel most of the time thinks its funny to tell regular returning guests that first floor rooms are not available when they are he sends regular returning guests into rooms on the second & third floor where most rooms have not been updated with new beds like the first floor or scrubbed clean dirty carpet where the long term creepy residents live since las palmas hotel has been on hotels.com greedy salespeople from booking.com talked this dump into charging $150 a night hotel when it is a $65 a night $275 a week longstay hotel with permanent residents cheap monthly rates it has unheated hallways this winter no air conditioning at all in the summer. the Indians who have been longtime managers of this overpriced Hollywood dump on las Palmas ave just south of Hollywood blvd. some hollywood history of this hotel call girls , prostitutes lived in this hotel in the 90s their dated would roll by in ther cars to pick them up just like movie pretty women a reason to never believe TripAdvisor.com priceline.com they are all owned by the same company make sure you bring your noise cancellation head phones highrise apartment construction 10 feet away from las pamas hotel going to going on for the next two years

stayed here for a month. no bed bugs or problems but the parking park next door is pretty loud. Not unexpected since it is nearly right on Hollywood Blvd.

Great place, clean rooms serves it's purpose. Management keeps the riff raff out so security is never a concern. Would definitely recommend at these great prices!

i have never felt compelled to write a yelp review until today. I called in to check availability for a friend, and arrived ahead of him by 4 minutes to surprise him by pre-paying his room.The owners treated me like a criminal, and shouted at me when i said i wanted to pay for his room, telling me that only he could pay for his room (cash only) and cutting me off over and over as i tried to tell them that was fine. i wasnt trying to stay at the room myself, i own my own building in the area, i was just trying to be efficient and generous. i explained that i would just wait the few minutes for my friend to arrive so he could check in himself. 30 seconds later they literally came out of the office to escort me out of the gate physically, telling me they were 'all booked up' suddenly. I dont know if they thought i was trying to stay in the room with my friend, but it felt like they were discriminatory to LGBT guests... because there was simply no other reason for them to treat me so horribly in the few minutes i was there. Absolutely not worth the poor treatment, no matter how inexpensive the room. i rent my own building out, so i am also in the hospitality business, and travel ALL the time (47 cities last year worldwide) and i have never been spoken to with such disdain. This place needs new owners and some respect for their customers. Dont support their behavior by patronizing this hovel.

Don't go here. I stayed here and had bed bugs. I told the manger and he said I brought them and refused to give me my money back. He is dishonest and I won't go back.

Amazing!! I want to just carry on going back , it was such an amazing experience. Having travelled all the way from the UK i had no regrets. The facilities were great , literally 1min walk to hollywood boulevard (walk of fame) so much literally near you , everything is walking distance and beaches are only 30 mins drive. The family who run the hotel made me feel so comfortable , cant wait to go back. I highly recommend! its first come first serve so its fair as you dont have to worry too much about booking high in advance.

I recently stayed at this charming hotel with newly painted rooms Portland style. The room was cute the bed large and comfortable with cotton sheets tiled shower en suite.At the incredible price of $45 i give it five stars.
