Vast mezcal & tequila selection with unique cocktails & tacos

"This bar on 6th Street is dark and divey, and has some good $5 draft cocktails. Happy Hour goes until 8pm, so it’s a great spot to grab a drink while you wait for the line up the block at Kazunori to calm down. The Deal: $5 draft cocktails, food discounts When: Weekdays 5 - 8pm, Weekends 1 - 8pm" - brett keating
"The conversation’s been pretty good, but as the check comes you both discover your mutual passion for obscure Olympic sports. Time to take a walk to Las Perlas, a mezcal bar with excellent drinks and a low-lit, divey atmosphere. Order a couple of margaritas (or the Spiced Daisy), find a dark corner, and continue that debate on the best badminton player of all time." - jess basser sanders, amy clark, brant cox
"I remember Las Perlas, billed as the city’s first mezcal bar, as one of the early Los Angeles spots that began stocking the new wave of artisanal mezcal producers around 2010." - Bill Esparza
"Los Angeles-based hospitality group Pouring With Heart, which runs downtown Austin bars Half Step, Seven Grand, and Las Perlas, shared Instagram posts stating its intentions to donate to NAACP’s Legal Defense and Educational Fund." - Nadia Chaudhury
"Following a widely shared video showing bouncers roughly removing two transgender women—Jennifer Bianchi and Khloe Perez-Rios, who say they were targeted and harassed by another couple—Las Perlas, a downtown mezcal bar at 107 E. 6th St., Los Angeles, has faced protests and boycott calls. Bystander footage captured one woman being dragged with an arm around her throat and others pleading “don’t touch me like that,” and protesters later gathered outside with signs and asked customers to refrain from entering in solidarity. Owners Pouring With Heart and CEO Cedd Moses initially characterized the episode as an “escalated verbal altercation” before issuing an apology, firing the bar’s outside security company, announcing an internal investigation, retaining outside counsel to review footage, committing to hire a new security team that has received sensitivity training, and saying they will work with the community to address the situation; police are also investigating the incident as a potential hate crime. The group has said the incident is “not in alignment” with its values and is still planning to open a second LA-area location in West Hollywood before the end of the year." - Farley Elliott
