"As Ktown continues its evolution into the best eating and drinking neighborhood in the city, Escala quietly keeps chugging along. The longtime staple has a solid Colombian-Korean menu and a cool, relaxed atmosphere. Deal: $26 mango chili and passionfruit mimosas with purchase of entrée. Weekends 11:30am-4:30pm." - brant cox, nikko duren

"La Scala’s was probably an upscale place at some point, but now it’s more of an Italian diner, with mirrored walls and TV’s that are usually playing whatever game is on. Their menu is pretty much what you would expect from a classic Italian place, and your best bet is sticking with the pizzas and pastas, which are all delightfully great. Use LaScala’s when you’re in the area and need a spot for a weeknight dinner, or when you’re wandering around Old City on a Sunday night looking for a place to watch the Eagles." - Sydney McElwee

The service is top-notch, super friendly staff. The food quality is good, it’s not oily or salty which is perfect but it can use a bit more taste. The atmosphere is amazing, specially outdoors

Google
Beautiful restaurant right near cooper river ! Awesome views! Food , drinks & dessert were amazing ! Highly recommend!

Google
Not bad for my first time here. This is a moderately expensive Italian restaurant with a small selection of pasta dishes, pizza and appetizers. I was expecting a more upscale atmosphere and dressed as such but even though it had modern decor and a great view of the Cooper River and park, there is no need to get dressed up. Our appetizers and drinks were served promptly after ordering and our meals followed shortly after and were hot and fresh from the kitchen. While the food was good, we probably will not go out of our way to come here again as we can get a similar meal at an Italian restaurant closer to us.

Stopped here after walking at Cooper River. Great place for a cold drink and great food. We ordered the pear and gruyere pizza, it was delicious! The bartender was very sweet and friendly. Will definitely stop by again.

I had my baby shower here (about 40 people) and the service was amazing. Everyone was raving about the food! I highly recommend for a more intimate shower/party/gathering!

Google
Friendly service, food is great and the Cooper River Park is a nice place to take a little stroll before or after. Can't wait to come back in the Spring/Summer to sit outside considering they have covered and uncovered patios!

My family, a party of seven, just left La Scala, la birra in Pennsauken. It’s not our first time there. We love the food! We were celebrating my brother & sister-in-laws birthdays. Rebecca was our server. She made us feel so welcomed from the moment we sat down. My husband is a kidder and was giving Rebecca some humorous banter & she was giving it right back to him! lol The restaurant was packed with some larger parties with ONLY two servers including Rebecca. She was so accommodating with all of us & especially with 2 of our diners with special food requests. Also, she was very efficient & so pleasant with a smile on her face the whole time! We will definitely go back & ask for Rebecca! Thanks for making our special dinner so fantastic !

I really like LaScala’s. I’ve been to the South Philly location, but the Pennsauken location is better - more space and better ambiance. The restaurant has a classy vibe. I came in around 8 for an outdoor reservation and was seated right away. Our server was very patient and didn’t rush us at all. Loved the Birra Wings (great flavor and spice) and my pizza was good too! My only critique would be the live music. Great musicians but a little to loud to have a conversation. Otherwise very good establishment for the price. I’d also recommend wearing decent attire for dinner. Expect most patrons to be dressed

Yelp
Ambiance: this is a very nice spot with great decor. It doesn't have that sad vibe, but more of an upbeat type vibe. it bright, and the furniture it up to date. It is also kid friendly, so you can get a high chair for your little one. Food: anything that you choose on the menu is good. This is one of those places where you can get everything on the menu and be happy. I am a fan of a good meatball, and they had an appetizer that was amazing. There cheesesteak egg rolls were also good. So you will not be disappointed on the food. Service: our waitress was very attentive and ensured that we had everything that we needed and even was able to entertain our little. we will definitely be back

Yelp
Party of four last night for dinner, appetizers, a couple of beers our check was $200. and not worth it at all! Server was so-so. We had a women buster for table constantly stopped at table and asked to take away plates while we were still eating. Our plates weren't even empty and two minutes later was back. It was annoying to say the least. All of our food was cold and tasteless. It seems they forget to add any seasonings to our dishes. I has Veal Francaise which was cold , I couldn't cut it with my knife, it was hard and chewy tasted like it was microwaved. I could even eat my meal.At our table we also had clams and spaghetti, cold and no seasonings, Chicken in vodka sauce with chicken, shrimp, cold and no taste to it. No one finished their dinners, and we didn't take left overs. Server never asked how was dinner. I will never go back. I should of asked for a refund! no manager at location.

Yelp
beautiful place and great staff. The pizza was fine- we got the truffle and short rib pizzas. They're both white pizzas and they tasted fine. we asked for a side of mariana sauce to dip in and it was good. It was a nice place to sit next to after a walk at copper park. I love cooper park so it's good there's decent food nearby!

Yelp
Shout out to Chelsey and team for their excellent service and delicious food and drink. Always a pleasure to spend time at LaScalas Birra on the Cooper River. See you soon :)

Yelp
Love visiting LaScala's when I'm in the tri-state area. Service is always so friendly and welcoming and the food is good. Good food, delicious drinks and even better company! I mean what more can a girl ask for lol. This visit was for happy hour so we enjoyed truffle fries, crispy zucchini, and the birra wings. Next time my friend wants to meet for drinks in Jersey I'm going to be sure to let him know the only place I want to go is LaScala's.

Yelp
We had my daughter's bridal shower here and it was absolutely perfect!! The food was served right on time and everyone loved it. Big portions! Also the staff were wonderful, very attentive and friendly to all the guests. Great views, Highly recommended!

Yelp
I patronized LaScala's Birra a few weeks ago and had a wonderful dining experience! I would recommend friends, family, and strangers to enjoy a meal here (but don't all sit together). The atmosphere, when I dined, was quiet and relaxing. Check online for specials and happy hour - when I went, there were some patrons sitting at the bar and some seated at the non-bar dining area. No matter where you sit, you can enjoy a nice view of the river. My server (sorry, the name escapes me) was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and specials. He took the time to explain to me how the kitchen operates. Happiness is all about managing expectations! My appetizer was arancini. Wow, it was so creamy and delicious! My mouth is watering, even now, thinking about how tasty it was. The arancini was plated beautifully. My entree was chicken francaise over linguini. Honestly, I have had better chicken francaise... I feel it was a tad undercooked and needed more fresh lemon in the sauce. Please understand this was not a deal-breaker for me: I will visit the restaurant again as this was my first time there. The menu has so much variety I am looking forward to trying something else. There are many pizza, seafood, and salad options. Of note: I ordered a to-go eggplant parmigiano for a friend - she was very pleased with this meal. The portion was ample and she said it was delicious. When she opened it, it looked very appetizing to me! Overall, I left full and happy, with a desire to return and see what else LaScala's Birra has to offer me.

Yelp
Great food, nice presentation. Fun atmosphere with nice external views. Perfect spot for a family dinner/ birthday celebration. Recommend the truffle pizza and the antipasto platter.

Megan S.

Yelp
I really dislike writing poor reviews, but the experience that my friend and I had last night was meh at best. We came for a drink and a bite before walking the beautiful park path. We both ordered premium wines ($13 glasses, not the happy hour wines) and the glasses served were dirty and smudged with fingerprints. The wine itself tasted spoiled but the bartender never once checked on us to see how things were, so we couldn't rectify it. There were also a handful of flies that camped out right at the bar, and we constantly had to swat at them. Worse, the fried zucchini that we ordered came with bits of calamari rings, remnants of another order. Luckily neither of us had seafood allergies, but this is a huge red flag. The zucchini itself was greasy and limp. We still tipped 20%, but over $40 for a glass of wine each and a shared app that was an unpleasant experience leaves me reluctant to ever return.

Yelp
We indicated on the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday with you. We confirmed the birthday again with the hostess. We again told the server. The birthday friend's dessert arrived with no candle or fanfare as expected. Disappointed for our friend since another guest was celebrated by their server. Food was good. Cocktails were refreshing. View was nice.

Pat G.

Yelp
Dinner for 4. The place is LOUD! Server was so-so. Asked to have my table wiped after dinner before dessert...never happened. Coffee came 15 minutes later, dessert and the coffee was gone. Server NEVER came back to check if we wanted more coffee. It was also extremely COLD in there...uncomfortably cold. Helpings were large. Food was good. Not going back though.

Yelp
Heard great things about LaScalas. This location is close to the water. Seeing pictures on their social media was a deciding factor in checking this place out. The mac and cheese pizza was something that I've never tried before. The pizza was not overly cheesy, but needed a little more flavor. The burrata pizza was tasty too. My favorite part was the ricotta board. The ricotta was served with honey and a homemade bread.

Tatiana W.

Yelp
We arrived at our reservation time of 7:30 pm on a Friday. The restaurant being busy was very noisy. Many people were seated outside since it was such a beautiful evening in April. The restaurant is is located with a park and along side a river. The ambiance was nice with low and high marble tables. It took a good while for our server to acknowledge us and bring glasses for the chilled water and offer drinks. I chose to have a cosmopolitan,. When it arrived I sipped and then realized their was a tiny bug in it. No problem it was replaced after a short wait. Came to realize our server was also bartending, which could explain the delays. We ordered two appys, the Salumi and cheese board and the ricotta boards. The Salumi board offered up four meats including, salami, prosciutto, speck and Sopressata(?) . The cheese were fresh mozzarella, sharp provolone, fontina and Parmesan. These were accompanied by Kalamata olives, roasted red peppers and a smear of fig preserves. Delish! This was soon joined by the ricotta board with their 48 fermented dough bread. This drizzled and mixed with clover honey. Again delish and that bread was outstanding. For an entree I had the Prosciutto pizza with arugula and shaved Parmesan cheese. There was not very much flavor to this pie. Was disappointed. As were dining guests with a tasteless margarita pie and the four cheese pie. There was an ok on the short rib ravioli and I personally tasted the gravy on that and it was really yummy, portion could have had a couple more on the plate. For dessert we tried the banana bread pudding with caramel sauce and ice cream. Again this should have been so much better! It was dry and not flavorful at all. The service unfortunately was not to par, we could understand when they were busy but when it died down there was no excuse. If you want good appys and drinks then try it. If looking for dinner go elsewhere.

Yelp
I have previously raved about this place. I still want to. I really do. But when I order saucy delicious comfort food, I want bread. So I can get every bit of that delicious sauce in my tummy. If you come here, a side of bread is an app and it costs you. Not even Olive Garden is so cheap that they charge for bread. He'll- the diner a half mile down the road gives you bread with your meal. I don't know who is in charge, but that's a shitty move. You will forever be known as "good food but they are too cheap to give you bread"

Rich J.

Yelp
Usually like this place but last night was an exception. Ordered the most expensive item on the menu, "Fusilli Seafood", a pasta dish at $28.00, which promises shrimp, Bay scallops and "jumbo lump crab meat" in a vodka sauce. In all fairness, the sauce was tasty. There were bay scallops. And there were 3 large shrimp, which would be an okay amount if not for the crab meat problem. As in, there was virtually none. I occasionally tasted crab, but there was nothing in that entire dish that looked like crab meat. I did find one tiny morsel of crab at one point. I should've sent it back but I don't like to do that sort of thing. So instead, here is my review. Service was very good by the way.

Sammie D.

Yelp
Stopped in for a conjoined birthday lunch! The food is fantastic! The homemade sauce is amazing but the highlight of our meal had to be the ricotta board, it's warm bread with ricotta and honey and May be one of the best things I have ever tasted! The portions are perfect for sharing for they have a gorgeous view of the river!

Yelp
TLDR: A nicer version of Olive Garden. My family's been here a few times and I was finally able to join them for dinner tonight. Everything about my experience here was average. Food: We ordered the La Scalas fries, wings, chicken marsala, chicken parm, lobster ravioli, brownie, and bread pudding. Everything was perfectly fine- nothing stood out. My favorite was probably the bread pudding. All of the apps and entrees were good, but I've had comparable meals from the frozen section of Costco. I love Costco so this wouldn't be a bad thing if each item didn't cost $15-$20. Service: The service was good! We didn't have a reservation but were still seated within about five minutes. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Vibe: Basically a nicer version of Olive Garden. Good place for large groups and/or a casual dinner out with the family. I probably wouldn't come back here. I have nothing bad to say, but there are better Italian places in the area.

Gregg C.

Yelp
Went in for a late lunch on a Thursday, not very crowded and I have to say the place was absolutely spotless and clean. Our server was friendly and attentive and I can't say enough about the delicious wings! Crab fries were loaded with crab, bacon and longhots--also delicious. Then had the short rib pizza that my wife and I thought was truly amazing! Portions are so large that we had half the pizza as a leftover the next day!

Artie K.

Yelp
Sunday dinner with the family. Ordered apps: calamari, mussels ricotta flatbread. Just fair. Entrees : eggplant parmigiana, chicken franciase and veal Marsala. The menu stated that each came with a side of pasta. This wasn't quite accurate. It should read pasta with a side entree since all three entrees were kid-sized portions on a heaping mound of linguine. Very disappointing. The service was friendly and attentive. The decor is minimalist. I suppose everyone comes for the river view. For me food trumps ambience.

Kimberly S.

Yelp
Such a shame because the food really is amazing, but Kaitlyn the server had a real attitude problem- that started at the beginning of our meal and only got worse when we said we weren't ordering dessert. She refused to give us refills or clear plates. We brought in cupcakes and beware- there's a $2 fee per person- she decided to make a huge announcement about how she was going to waive the fee this time but charge it next time- my parents told her to charge it. Absolutely unnecessary behavior, especially since we didn't request any additional plates, forks or knives (nor were any offered). I could see if we were requesting a cake be cut. It was my birthday dinner and I chose this restaurant for the good food- but the terrible service is a huge turn off- there's absolutely no excuse to act that way. I hope management sees this and addresses it with her so other customers have better experiences. She came back at the end of the meal and basically threw the check in the table- too many other options for behavior like that. Maybe she was just having a bad night- it's a shame it had to happen on my birthday.

Yelp
What a great place!!...we had the appetizer fries that had cheese, bacon, peppers, crab and old bay seasoning...we also had the whipped ricotta with honey and it was AMAZING!...the chopped salad was really good too!!...the entree we shared was rigatoni with vodka sauce and added a chicken cutlet...it was all delicious!!...I want to go back so we can try the pizza!!!....great spot!!!...BOOM!

Yelp
The place was empty on a Wednesday night. Our server warned us that they have this exclusive method of serving each patron as his meal becomes available. We started with cheese steak rolls, which were really good last time. This time, they were swimming in some type of bland cheese sauce that overwhelmed any steak flavor. Certainly not Cheeze Wiz. Not enjoyable at all. Partner got her salmon in about 10 minutes, it was delicious. 10-15 minutes later I get my buffalo chicken pizza. Partner is half way done her meal by now. My pizza was nothing like the other LaScala Fire in Sagemore, which are awesome. In fact, it was terrible, and I should have sent it back. It was barely warm, in spite of my asking for well done, and they added raw celery chunks and diced blue cheese on top. Neither was melted in like a pizza topping should be. The cheese was not melted, and the chunks and celery were actually cold in the middle! The celery did not go well as a topping. They also overdid the siracha sauce, which overwhelmed whatever little flavor the pie had. Worst pizza ever! I asked the server if she had ever been to a restaurant that serves the food to each individual as it is ready, she thought for a minute and said "No, I haven't". What if we had a table of 6? It would be awkward, as manners dictate to not start eating until everyone was served their meal. Our server was excellent and the venue very nice. Fix the kitchen please! We will be back to enjoy the beer selection in the garden outside after hiking by the lake, but skip the food.

Yelp
Stopped by La Scala's because I was starving and in the area. The restaurant is beautiful and in a cute neighborhood. The waitress was nice and helpful with determining what to eat. My friend ordered the short rib ravioli and I had the shrimp pasta. I tried the ravioli because the concept of braised short rib in the form of ravioli sounded great. It wasn't. The texture the short rib was grainy and the "ravioli" didn't have ricotta instead it was a mound of what I guessed was some sort of cold bland cheese cream. I then tried the shrimp pasta. That was bland as well. I dumped Parmesan, crushed red peppers and oregano to give the dish some flavor. It was still pretty bland. The calamari was decent but not amazing. The blood orange margarita was ok. It tasted like a premade mix of a concoction of orange juice. Overall nothing was amazing and I won't be back to risk spending money on anything else.

Yelp
Avoid ordering delivery from here if you can. They are so expensive and only on Slice. The downside to Slice is that if you want an adjustment to your order because you find bones in your food or your food is lacking any seasoning, the rep only calls the restaurant to speak to them and if the manager doesn't feel like authorizing a refund, you are out of luck. I would recommend sticking to places that offer delivery via the big delivery apps (so, avoid LaScala Birra). We have eaten from here many times in the past and after a recent poor experience, probably will never do so again. We spent $76 on one entree, a salad, a pizza and dessert. We had ordered everything before (and loved it!). We were celebrating a new job and thought this would be a good way to do that without going out. Our mistake. Let's start with the entree. The short rib ravioli tasted bland. Like they forgot salt or any seasoning at all. To top it all off, my spouse had a thin long bone somehow in one of her ravioli which completely ruined her appetite. The salad. I got a spinach & goat cheese salad which comes with a "Smokey bacon vinaigrette" and the dressing completes the salad. I even paid for an extra dressing. Usually if a main ingredient is out of stock, a restaurant with GOOD customer service would call you and say "hey, one of the main ingredients is out of stock, did you want this other dressing?" And if they had done that instead of giving me yet another bland ingredient "white balsamic vinaigrette", I would have said please refund the salad (or change it to a different one) because that is one of the main reasons I order this salad. Like when I ordered from a local burger place and they only had Turkey burgers left, the restaurant reached out to let me know and I opted for a refund. The pizza. How do you make a bland pizza that includes broccoli rabe, fontina and long hots devoid of any flavor other than the occasional spiciness from the long hots? Ask LaScala's Birra. Even the crust was bland and tasted like paper. Finally, the dessert. I read a review on yelp that said that the crust of the "Birra Zeppoli" was chewy. I thought maybe that was just a one-off and chose to (foolishly) ignore that review. It was so chewy it was hard to swallow. I tried heating it up and that helped a little bit but not much. In the end, all of it got thrown out because that food was not worthy of feeding to any living person. What really made me upset though was the response from the restaurant. How are you not even going to refund the salad which you didn't include all of the ingredients to? If I were there in person, I could have sent it back and you would have had to make it again. Or do you refuse to correct your mistakes in person too? Avoid LaScala's Birra at your peril.

Esther L.

Yelp
I can't believe I hadn't been here sooner? I've been looking for great outdoor spots now that the fall season is approaching. The beer garden area was really cute with the lights and it's nice having view of the water. It didn't feel like Pennsauken? I ordered a bunch of apps and they were all good- esp the ricotta board and mussels. Loved the bourbon mule. Our servers were great and attentive and ending our night with the tiramisu was perfect. Thanks, I'll def be back!

Emily W.

Yelp
I really want to like this please more, but I cannot get over the lack of correct timing on food delivery. This is my second time coming for dinner. Both times we had waited more than 5 minutes for someone's meal to be delivered after everyone else had received their entree. The food is great and the ambiance is quite nice. However, small details like this make the dining experience much less enjoyable.

Jeff D.

Yelp
LaScala's Birra has a lot going for it: Great views of the Cooper River, a menu full of Italian favorites and a full bar. We started with an order of arancini. They were very good - fried to a golden brown, full of flavor and served atop marinara. If you can't decide on an appetizer, you can't go wrong here. We also ordered a margherita and carbonara pie. The margherita was good - golden crust, nice sauce to cheese ratio w/fresh basil. I could have done without the wedged tomatoes on top - I felt it was unnecessary and weighed the pie down. I enjoyed the carbonara a bit more - mozzarella and fontina cheese topped with pancetta, peas, and black pepper. These flavors all worked very well together which had me reaching for these slices a bit more. I enjoyed an IPA from Tonewood brewery. I agree with a former review - A place with birra in the title should have a bigger beer list. Our server was super attentive but did not rush us. He even asked me how I was liking my beer. Thank you sir for caring. From this experience alone, I look forward to a return visit.

Joe B.

Yelp
If you like Lascala's food this is what you would expect. The views of the river are nice.

Lilly B.

Yelp
I was really excited to try LaScala after hearing about them and seeing all the amazing pictures on Instagram! The inside is absolutely gorgeous with light colors and black and white vintage photographs. The dining room overlooks the water and there is a nice outdoor space. The menu is not huge which is nice. They have a great selection of different pizzas, appetizers, and pasta dishes. The ricotta appetizer with honey was interesting and tasty! Extra bread was definitely needed for the portion size. The muscles were very delicious and served with herbed bread. The mac & cheese pizza was a little bit dry and under seasoned. I asked for salt and pepper but would've loved pepper flakes or even some old Bay. The burrata pizza was great! There were generous portions of burrata and the arugula really took it to the next level! Overall a great experience! Happy that they have a location in Philly as well!

Steve R.

Yelp
Went here a while back with my daughter. The place overall was clean and the service was great. We both ordered appetizers which were good not great. Part of the reason we chose to come here was my daughter saw something on the online menu which wasn't on the actual menu. So that was a huge disappointment. The beer selection was very limited because their lines were frozen. My dinner was over all good. Extra spicy and the pasta was good perfectly and the seafood was also cooked perfectly. The issue I had with my meal was the linguini was cut super short and it kinda ruined the meal a little. Why would you cut the linguini in 2 inch lengths. All tho just 3 stars I will give this place another shot. We just won't select food until we get there and hopefully the beer isn't frozen. I'm betting it was just an off day for them.

Kathleen D.

Yelp
I booked a reservation here for this past week via OpenTable, but we were only one of four tables throughout our visit. All were properly spaced out. I moved away from the area before this LaScala's opened a few years ago, so I was excited to see that they had expanded their footprint into New Jersey. When I lived in Philly, I liked ordering delivery from LaScala's Pronto. I also recall a great flight at Birra in 2015 during beer week. They're presently only offering electronic menus due to Covid, which is nice. We were seated right away and our friendly server was extremely patient while my mom tried to decide on a drink to order. I eventually asked if they could make her a French 75 off the menu, and the bartender agreed. For my drink, I ordered the Blue Point Toasted Lager, which was only okay. For a restaurant with the word beer in it, I expected a better list. They should consider fluffing out the local selection, adding styles like sours, and perhaps even adding an Italian beer beyond peroni. I felt like their website was a little misleading on what to expect drink-wise. But my critique ends there. The food more than made up for the lacking beer list. Oh my goodness! My mom ordered the arancini app and I selected the ricotta board. I was torn between that and the fontina, but our server said the ricotta is their most popular app. I tried a bite of my mom's rice ball and it was great. But the ricotta with perfectly prepared bread?? Heaven. Pure bliss. I ate so much of it that I had to box up most of my pizza! For my meal, I chose the alla carbonara pizza. Since I was super torn and wanted everything, I also ordered a four cheese pizza to go. My mom had the truffle pizza. Verdict? All delicious but the four cheese stole the show. My mom even liked it better than her pizza, and she's the person who has always claimed to "not like cheese." I also didn't want to pass up trying their dessert, so I ordered a slice of limoncello cake to go. Ate it later on and it too was delectable. I would for sure return for their pizza when I'm in Jersey visiting family again. I so wanted to try the mac and cheese and the spinach and artichoke dip pizzas. Such inventive pies!

Paulene C.

Yelp
All I have to say is order the lobster ravioli. I have literally come here just to get the lobster ravioli. I live closer to La Scala in Marlton but the menus are a little bit different. I like to come to the location of Pennsauken because they have great food and my favorite appetizer the ricotta and honey board.

Bernice K.

Yelp
We love, love, love this place. We go here so often I feel like a fixture there lol. We had my daughter's baby shower there and everyone loved it.

Michelle P.

Yelp
Oh how great is LaScala's Birra! Gorgeous, clean riverfront dining! That's something you can't even get in Philly! If delicious Italian food with a view isn't intriguing enough, they also are on delivery apps so you don't even need to leave your house. I'm pro-LaScala so having a scenic one that delivers floats my boat. Note, there is no on-boat dining, but you may see a small boat. I hope to spend many outdoor, scenic meals at LaScala's Birra next spring and onwards.

Carol E.

Yelp
Great date place! Ambiance outside in the evening is awesome as you look at Cooper River Park. The outdoor bar and dining has very attentive servers and bartenders. The food is great too. Food can be a bit more on the pricier side than other places but it is made up for with the terrific servers and the deliciousness of the food. Calamari, long hots, truffle fries, truffle mac & cheese, short rib ravioli, and San Remo were all winners . The beer selection was pretty standard, nothing too exotic. I didn't like the 1 specialty cocktail I ordered (cant remember name either) as it tasted like mop water (not that I know what mop water tastes like). Beware tho, even if you go with a reservation, they may still cap you at a 90 minute timeframe if the establishment is busy. My group of 6 got to stay for about 2 1/2 hours since the outdoor never got to fill up. Def a place worth checking out especially in the summer and if you wnat the nice outdoor experience.

Yelp
Came here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised! Such a great view indoor or outdoor seating right by the water. We got the Caesar salad, cheesesteak egg rolls and ricotta app. All were tasty and no complaints! We got a couple pizzas to share but my favorite was the one with sausage and pepperoni. Great spot to grab drinks and lunch with friends. Would definitely come back!

Yelp
We were initially meant to go to another spot, but this was a rare find! I genuinely loved the spacious interior, and I can only imagine how pretty it is in the summer outside. The location is on the water, and it's tucked in an area where you would have to drive in the area to discover it intentionally. I loved the ricotta board. I think that's their signature appetizer. It was unique and the highlight of everything we ate. The calamari was good too. I liked the jalapeños in them. I was slightly disappointed with the tiramisu because it lacked flavor for the ladyfingers. I love the coffee taste in a tiramisu, but this version was a bit bland. The service was also great and our waitress was helpful and inviting. Oh! But I regretted getting the margarita pizza. There was a whole slice without mozzarella and the bottom wasn't crispy enough for me. I wish I would have got the grandma one instead.

Yelp
A couple of us were heading here for a little celebration and turned out to be a great spot. First off happy hour is totally worth it here. You do have to sit in the bar section, but I love a high top table so it was a win win. The water view is beautiful and I can see this place in the summer getting packed. Think I saw a fire pit outside but don't quote me on that. Happy hour wine, house white or red, 5 bucks, big pour. Few appetizers on that list too, and we went with the arancini, cheesesteak egg rolls and truffle fries. I wanted to try the brussel sprouts but got that on my pizza instead. The arancini are fantastic. Crisp shell, cheesey delicious center. The truffle fries needed more truffle and more parm and maybe add a bit more parsley on top. It's all about the presentation. The cheesesteak egg rolls, good flavor but the wrap part was a little thick for my liking. The ladies at my table got some salads for their main dishes, one got pasta and I got a pizza. Burrata, Brussels sprouts, prosciutto, balsamic, great pizza and crust. I was able to save a few slices for the next day. Big menu and large portions, I'll be back to try more.

Yelp
Great selection of deliciously made pizzas. Have been a few times and plan on going back! Also great location right on Cooper River. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Relaxed atmosphere.

Yelp
LaScala's Birra on the Coopers River was a nice dinner takeaway after a candlelight concert at the Adventure Aquarium. The ambiance is casual and has an indoor and outdoor seating areas. I sat outside on the outdoor seating area and it was nice and spacious. It's right by the Cooper River and in the evening, the fairy lights create a nice spacious and more intimate environment along with a musician to perform in the outdoor space. The Crispy Calamari was delicious as it was served with parsley, green peppers, and the right amount of crisp. I ordered the Shrimp Pompeii and the pasta noodles, shrimps, grape tomatoes, and peppers were prepped right. However the pasta sauce was very vinegary, which most likely meant the white wine was not cooked properly. Customer Service was mediocre and nothing too special. I enjoyed all that I ate there but will most likely try something else and not Shrimp Pompeii if I was to return to LaScala's Birra.

Yelp
There are multiple lascalas around the area. This one is very scenic along the cooper river. Definitely a good spot to sit outside and enjoy a meal. Our server was a little distracted with all the tables, but things came out quickly. The food was fabulous, though expect a lot of cheesy goodness

Yelp
Reservations are meaningless. Came in with a pre-scheduled reservation and was told it would be a 45 minute wait. Location is nice. Don't know that we will make it to actually eating the food at this point.

Yelp
Food was good, waiter was awesome, dessert and coffee were good too. Even though I asked for decaf and I'm pretty sure I got regular because I was up all night. thank you for that. there were no bread or salad to start us up it was just the meal and that's it, or even bread for sauce. Oh and we were asked to leave. I guess we over stayed our welcome. lol. Not sure we'll be back. thanks.

Yelp
Our book club arrived on a scorching hot day. The location was perfect for our group - super easy parking, nice view of Cooper River, a bright and airy interior with tons of windows, and most importantly, air conditioning! Our server was very good at handling our group and after we asked, provided separate checks. They provided really, really good warm rolls with bread. I could've eaten all of them if no one was looking - LOL. I ordered the goat cheese salad. It was fine. Not remarkable, but fine. HEY MANAGEMENT. I'm not sure why TVs are necessary in a restaurant like this. I'm not a fan of eating and looking up to see a MME fight in progress and men beating the crap out of each other and bleeding. Almost lost my appetite.

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised with our meal at LaScala's Birra. We stopped in on cold December Friday before Christmas. There were only two other tables of customers for lunch and we were more the adequately distanced from the next table. The COVID protocol procedures were very good. The interior is bright and open with nice views of Cooper River. LaScala's did a great job with the space. We had muscles, pizza and a salad. * Our Famous Mussels - Peroni beer, herb butter, fresh garlic and shallots, zesty red sauce and arbole chili served with Italian bread. * Arugula Salad -Radicchio, grilled red onions, sundried tomatoes, grilled eggplant, Gorgonzola cheese, and toasted pine nuts in a white balsamic vinaigrette. * Prosciutto Pizza -Prosciutto, cherry tomatoes, arugula, mozzarella, and shaved Parmigiano. Everything was very good and our service was great. We will definitely return and try some other items. Great location and food!

Yelp
This place has a great location off from cooper river lake. I happened to be driving by with my daughter and noticed the decent park and children friendly opportunities. After enjoying the area decided to stop in for a bite. You will enjoy the scenery especially on a warm summer day they offer outside seating. Inside is just as fine as that's where me and my daughter sat. I ordered my of my favorite bites calamari but to be let down here at LaScala's. The calamari was served with marinara and some sort of sweet sauce I can't recall the name at the moment. The calamari itself was very dry and bland. Had no flavor to describe other than taste of cardboard as they say. Very unfortunate I always look forward to a great calamari dish from every restaurant that offers it. I was let down here. I ordered my daughters dish from off the kids menu which has about 4 items. I decided to go with the chicken tenders and fries. To no fail my daughter seemed to enjoy hers. Mostly the fries for what ever reason this kids love those damn things! Lol I had a few bites off her plate and enjoyed the fries and tenders as well. I liked how they played her food on a flat plank like surface I recall it looking like. Also ordered some pizza which was a margarita pizza. Came out with 4 slices of tomato placed on every other slice. Which surprisingly I liked. When you bite in to those slices it burst with lush flavor savory and juicy. I shared the slices with out the tomato cuts with my daughter. She devoured it with a smile on her face and her hands reaching for more fries! This place has great pricing very cheap I was expecting to pay $80 out eating and ended up being less then $50. The atmosphere is perfect for any company you'd like to impress. I look forward to stoping in for more pizza and will keep this in mind for a place I can go on daddy daughter dates. Just hoping for a switch up on calamari and this place could see me once a week!

Yelp
Went on Easter, the food was delivered cold. I'm certain our waitress forgot to put in our main dish order as well as only half our dinner was delivered. It's a nice location but I won't be back.

Yelp
Had the chicken marsala, was just ok - pretty bland. The fried zucchini appetizer was great though

Yelp
We decided to try this place for a late lunch. I was pleasantly surprised. It was a very nicely decorated place and right off the water. It has a beautiful view of the water. Our waitress was very attentive and nice. I will be going back! My food was very tasty.
