"Is it possible to scientifically prove that something is delicious? Apparently not, but at Lashevet, you can eat very good Middle Eastern food conceived by a former food scientist. This charming little spot is great for a spontaneous cup of Turkish coffee under a kaleidoscopic Moroccan lamp. Their menu changes from fully vegetarian cafe stuff during the day to a meat-heavy dinner in the evening, with influences from Israeli, Lebanese, and Moroccan cuisines." - willa moore, neha talreja, will hartman, sonal shah

"This small, charming UES restaurant changes its menu from cafe fare during the day to a full dinner service at night, with influences from Israeli, Lebanese, and Moroccan cuisines. Omnivores pay special attention—while there’s meat all over the menu at night, the daytime menu is fully vegetarian, with things like avocado toast on pita and fresh, colorful mezze. Super cute spot, super delicious also. Had a really good day date with my lady here. We ordered the Taste of Jerusalem, the hummus felafel plateand a couple bourekas. Everything was super fresh and amazing. Also the Moroccan style tea was seriously one of the best teas Ive ever had. Would definitely recommend this place. The vibe was real chill and the server was super attentive and gave us great suggestions. The pita, also fire af.

Lashevet is a fabulous Mediterranean restaurant. Friends invited us to join them for dinner and everything we ate from their homemade hummus and tabbouleh salad to delicious salmon and chicken kabobs were outstanding. They have great wines, beers as well as “ House Cocktails “ all reasonably priced and served in a very intimate dining area. We LOVED our dinner and look forward to returning soon.

Google
Lashevet was disappointing. I really wanted to like this place. The ambiance promised a real Middle Eastern experience. The waitress was really nice and the prices were reasonable. Unfortunately, we did not like the food. The Jerusalem bagel was dry, the vegetables did not look fresh, and we did not like the kebbe. The only item we enjoyed was the Lafa with chicken.

I have lived in NYC since 1994 and I have eaten in many restaurants all over the world. My husband discovered this restaurant recently in our neighborhood and I am so happy he did. I have already been there twice and can’t wait to go back. Not only the food is delicious and made with fresh ingredients, but the service and hospitality are outstanding. Our whole family enjoyed our dinner so much, my grandchildren asked for seconds and loved the delicious bread. If you want to eat food that tastes like homemade, not to mention the amazing desserts this restaurant has on their menu you must try it!

Google
A charming little restaurant with very friendly staff. The decor was very middle eastern and warm/inviting. The food was fairly good and was served on colorful dishes. We waited for 45 minutes for our drinks and had to ask for them after our food had already come out. The food also took a while to come out too. Service was overall slow. The seasonings they had out on the tables were very nice; za’atar, salt, and paprika. Hope this helps!

Very delicious! Service was great too! The mint tea is a wonderful start. Both soups are excellent

Google
It’s an AMAZING place! The food and the service is so good. I come there often and all waiters are always polite to me. The food at Lashevet is terrific! I’ve never tried such a good New York steak before. I also tried their Salmon dish and now it’s my favorite dish. I am usually not into fish, but this dish was cooked perfectly. I just enjoy the food and atmosphere every time I dine in Lashevet.

Google
Fantastic food. Pita was excellent- fresh out of the oven, perfectly seasoned, fluffy with the perfect pocket. Each dish was made with care by someone who truly understands the food they are making. Service was personable and warm as well. My only critique is the hummus could have been a bit smoother when I had it, but the flavor was great. Going to come back often!

Yelp
Great little restaurant tucked into the upper east side. No frills type middle eastern restaurant serving up good grub. The owner was there talking to tables. She was really nice. Other staff was kind, too. Menu offerings were solid. Something for everyone. Came with my girlfriend and ordered the following: Tabbouleh salad - must get. So good Tagine Moroccan lamb meatballs - solid, but not as much flavor as we were expecting. Cooked well. Heavier than anticipated too Mehayam - excellent salmon with a ton of good sides / dips. Would definitely order this again. Big price of salmon. It was a little hot in there. Needed to drink a lot of water to stay cool. May have been a one off thing. Would come back (or at least get takeout)

Yelp
I the really cute little space with fairy lights and light rock playlist. The menu isn't huge but has a good variety. Food was really good and fresh, I especially loved the spicy dipping sauce that can with my sandwich. Service was a bit slow though. We waited for our food for a long time.

Marina S.

Yelp
This is the excellent Mediterranean food! So so good! I would definitely come here again. The place has an amazing vibe. I absolutely loved the food and the service.

Yelp
What a great neighborhood Middle Eastern spot! We ordered the baba- the reason for not giving 5 stars is because each mezze does not come with free bread unless you order 3+ mezzes. So if you don't separately order and pay for a bread basket, you won't have anything to eat with each mezze. That being said, the baba was delicious and I could have eaten two bread baskets alone, the bread was that good. The chicken kebab plate is a well-balanced meal and comes with 1 skewer; I thought the sauces (one tahini, the other a spicy jalapeño) were delicious with the chicken. My friend said the tagline Moroccan lamb meatballs with saffron rice was pretty tasty too. We made a dinner reservation via resy just to be on the safe side. By the time we left, all tables were filled. Service was friendly and not rushed. One thing to note- the noise level does get really loud so you'll end up shouting across the table.

Yelp
Terrific dinner tonight at Lashevet! My sister and I devoured the mezzes (especially the hummus)! I loved my chicken with Brussels sprouts, and my sister loved her salmon! Desserts were wonderful, especially the textbook-perfect creme brûlée! Lovely and comfortable decor. Service and hospitality were excellent. Definitely plan a return visit!

Yelp
Wow. For what appears to be an unassuming restaurant, this place deserves five stars and rave reviews from the New York Times similar to ones written in the past. What initially feels like a speakeasy spot in a sleepy upper east side neighborhood, Lashevet dazzles customers with simple yet rich, and abundant Middle Eastern preparations that have you begging for more. On Thursday evenings, happy hour specials are allowed for their wines with half off deals. They have your traditional tabouli sandwiches, Jerusalem plate platters, and vegetarian options. Plus apparently their dinner menu is amazing. Inside you'll feel comforted by upbeat music, brick walls, and friendly staff. A+ experience!

Yelp
Authentic Middle Eastern cuisine in a cozy, homey atmosphere. I ordered the Big B's Lamb Burger ($25), which was decent, but did have a few minor areas for improvement. I asked for medium and it was more like well done. Also, the pita on top and below the burger were a bit burned. The sweet potato fries that came with the burger were very good though- soft but not too soft. For dessert, I got the Basbousa ($12), which is like a blueberry cheesecake. This was delicious and not overly sweet. It had a nice creamy consistency with fresh blueberries on top and within and also some crushed nuts to add a bit of crunch. The prices of the food were maybe a tiny bit elevated but fair. The owner of the restaurant was there interacting with all the customers and she was very friendly. There was only one waiter and he was very friendly and attentive as well. The food service speed was kind of slow though. The restaurant is a bit small with a cozy atmosphere with red brick walls and middle eastern style decor. There is a home-cooked meal kind of vibe with each of the dishes on aesthetic plates. There were a decent number other people there on a Sunday night but still a couple empty tables. Overall, Lashevet is a very good option if you are looking for good authentic Middle Eastern food in a cozy environment with friendly service in the Upper East Side.

Yelp
4 stars for the entrees. I think they are new and still working some things out, so I don't want to be overly critical, but everything else (appetizers and service) was sub-optimal. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated, but a bit cramped and I don't know if they have AC. The service was quite slow, they had 3 people waiting on tables for the whole restaurant and one runner from the kitchen. The appetizers were disappointing. We ordered the hummus, baba and spicy beets and carrots and I would only eat the beets and carrots again. They had a nice vinegar/spicy flavor. The baba had no taste and was the texture of a thick paste. The hummus had better flavor than the baba but was also not the right texture (too thick, should be creamy and smooth). As others have noted, the bread comes free if you order 3 salatim, otherwise it is $6. The entrees were great! There were four of us and we had the chicken kebab, lamb burger, lamb kebab and chicken breast. Everyone loved their dish and the portions were generous. The spicy sauce (horseradish with tahini?) with the kebabs was fantastic and the rice and meat were nicely seasoned. We liked that it came with veggies and a little greek salad as well. The lamb burger was also a hit (as were the fries it came with) and the chicken was fantastic. Great sauce and the chicken was cooked nicely (comes with brussel sprouts). Overall great flavors and serving size (and fair price) for all of the entrees. The only issue with the entrees was the timing they got to the table. Two of us got their dishes, then we waited a full 5 min for the third entree and another 10min after that for the last entree. 15min between entrees is not okay. I think they are just getting settled in and hope they work it out in the future. I would go back for takeout and only get an entree.

Yelp
In a single weekend where I had the opportunity to eat this same kind of cuisine 3-4 times, Lashevet was the dining experience that easily shined the brightest. The decor in this small restaurant is simple, yet charming. They have colorful lamps hanging from the ceiling that give a soft glow at night, and small string lights pinned onto their wall. We got the zaalouk to start. My friend got the shakshuka, and I got the Lola lamb. We both also got a glass of red wine. While I don't remember anything in particular about the wine itself, I do remember being tickled by the glass they gave me when I asked to sample some. They had tiny glasses dedicated to sampling, and our server gave me a generous pour to try. The zaalouk was incredible. This was my first time having zaalouk, and I was blown away. Even the pita on it's own was perfection. Normally pita is purely just a vehicle for some other delicious goodness, but I would have been happy to eat this pita on its own. Hot, crisped on the outside, soft on the inside, steaming, and topped with garnish. This zaalouk is the kind of dish that teaches you just how delicious veggies can be when prepared right. My friend and I literally stopped mid sentence to focus on the bites of zaalouk we were taking. We gushed about it when we were done, and got excited for our entrees. My friend's shakshuka was equally beautiful. Her eggs were beautifully nestled and runny, just like you'd hope. The bite she let me try was A+. My lamb kebab was tender and juicy. I was so happy to have a bit of salad on my plate, and the sauces they gave (tahini and something else) were perfect pairings to the plate. To top off the all the delicious food, our server was also incredibly sweet. I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
This place has the most charming owner and beautiful decor. The silverware, the outside patio, the conversation, everything is perfect! Highly recommend the four types of mezze. Very homemade and they give a complimentary bread basket along with it. They also have these tiny spice bottles on the table. We got the lamb, the chicken, the falafel and the beef lashevet plates. We also ordered a plate of the jewel rice. Portions are on the smaller end as compared to other Middle eastern places fyi. Definitely order one per person! Food has a very homemade feel to it. Not heavy and greasy at all. We got the blueberry cheese cake for dessert. My mom (who's bday we were celebrating) loved it although I'm not a blueberry fan

Yelp
WOW! My wife and I ate at this cozy and delightful new restaurant that recently opened on First Avenue on tbd upper Eastside ( just north of 86th St. I looked at the other reviews and was surprised by the few negative comments and can only say that everything we ate here was delicious. The chicken kabob's and salmon were flavorful and cooked to perfection . Their hummus, babaganoush and other appetizers tasted homemade and were better than we have had at other Mediterranean restaurants. I think we should be appreciative when new restaurants are trying to provide outstanding meals and provide great service, when it's a real challenge to get people to work in restaurants. We were impressed with the attention we received from the moment we sat down until we ate our tasty desserts. While Lashevet is a relatively small restaurant, they have come up with a very creative way of storing our coats. Every seat has a cover that can be removed and we can place our coats and bags inside and then sit, knowing exactly where they are stored. Lashevet also has a great wine, beer and great cocktail menu!

Yelp
Taim meod! Delicious! i came for brunch - had the chicken laffa and a salad, and really enjoyed both. Food was really fresh; good flavors, good quality. ate outside in a little courtyard - really cute and peaceful. attentive service. i'd definitely come back again!

Sabrina P.

Yelp
Ambiance inside the restaurant is very homey, cozy, and nicely decorated. The service was very friendly the moment you walk in. My boyfriend made a reservation but there was definitely some table availability even without a rez. We got the hummus but since we are a table of 2 you have to buy the bread separately. The bread basket itself is a combo of bagels and pita bread. I preferred the pita bread. For the main dish, I got the shrimp kebab and it was good but for some reason some bites of my salad tasted like something was sour (maybe the feta cheese?) but I ignored it. Overall, a good Mediterranean restaurant in the UES especially for date night!

Latha P.

Yelp
Really sweet place. Their lunch and dinner menus are vastly different. Lunch skews vegetarian while dinner skews towards meat lovers. Just a heads up. If you dine in the patio, know that they don't serve alcohol there. We got falafel, lamb kabob and jewel rice. Excellent food. Great addition to my neighborhood.

Susan L.

Yelp
Great food and great atmosphere! My friend really liked this place and I finally got to try this new spot. I do luv Mediterranean food! All the glass doors in the front were open, so it gives good air flow, plus there's an outside patio with a few tables in the back. Staff were very friendly. We had the chicken kebab that came with rice and side salad. Great plating and presentation! It does look small but is quite filling. If you're a big meat eater, you might need to order more. The salad was plain on its own but good with the chicken. Also had the baba (ganoush). That dip is really good. The bread basket was extra though. There's about 6 pieces of different types of breads. They come warm. Delicious! Although I probably shouldn't eat a whole basket of bread at once. It's definitely shareable. My friend had some wine, which she enjoyed very much. I had the hot Moroccan tea. Always a good choice. Great with the meal. For the dessert, we shared the Basbousa with mixed berries. They ran out of raspberry but made a mix of banana and blueberries. Probably an occasional availability so you can't order it. It was warm and quite good. It's a big piece and shareable. Don't forget to dip it through the almond cream on the plate. That is really good cream.

Kathleen C.

Yelp
Great service, delicious food, and tasty drinks. We had the chicken breast and Brussel sprouts. It was perfectly cooked chicken and the brussel sprouts were delicious. The bread was amazing as well. I definitely recommend the mojito.

Evan R.

Yelp
I just ordered GrubHub delivery from here, and this terrible restaurant decided when they ran out of Falafel Pita, to not bother to call me to see what substitutions I would want. So now for dinner I am getting a Tabouli Salad - how stupid. It is a shame as the Tabouli Salad is pretty good, but it would be pointless to ever order from there again. First order and last order. Clearly, they have no idea how to communicate with customers. Instead, they left it to GrubHub to call me a few minutes before the delivery to tell me I was out of luck. Big woop I am not being charged for the not delivered Falafel Pita.

Glenn C.

Yelp
I went here a while ago with one person having gone to a museum somewhat nearby. The food was on the lighter end overall (not surprised as I tend to find Israeli food lighter than the countries nearby) but it was tasty with a couple particularly good dishes. The prices are on the high end but it's the UES so what's not to expect. The woman who served us was very friendly and we met the owner who was also very nice. We started with the spicy Beets & Carrots for $6 from the Salatim (or Hebrew for salad) menu. These consisted of rainbow carrots, beets, lemon juice, and mescal vinegar. Nice mix of flavors. A good amount less spicy than the Lebanese version but no real complaints. I personally think they should do a mix of these as an appetizer or main dish and it would be a hit and this appears to be on the morning menu which makes a lot of sense. We also got the fava beans on skillet from the normal appetizer section. This was $12 and it had fresh tomato sauce, shallots, jalapenos, and a boiled egg. The presentation wasn't as I expected as there wasn't tomato sauce or jalapenos and the egg was more poached. The latter is actually preferred while the former meant it felt like the dish was missing something. It lacked spice and I wouldn't recommend it much unless you really love lentils. I'd swap it for the shakshouka entirely especially if you make really good poached eggs or just turn it into a soup. My main dish from the Entrees was the Shipudei Lashevet. Shipudei refers to skewers and in this case, I went with the lola lamb for $17. This consisted of one (whyyyyyy) skewer served with basmati rice & shepherd's salad. The skewer was tasty but of course tiny for the price. The shepherd's salad was excellent and the rice was cooked properly. The other person had Big B's Lamb Burger for $25 which was much better. This consisted of pretzel buns with labneh gruyere cheese, pickled red onions, cornichons, and served with your choice of fries. The burger was juicy and wonderful and the sweet potato fries were outstanding. He got a side of Brussels sprouts which had an almond fig reduction for $7 which were outstanding. I had just been to Ilili(lilililili) recently and they reminded me of those and I would highly recommend them. All desserts were $12. We got the Blackberry basbousa (they also had a few other daily flavors and a fig tart. The basbousa was a bit different than I expected. She described it more like a cheesecake rather than the usual semolina cake and it did remind me of that. The fig cake had a wonderful texture to the pastry dough and ample amount of fig. I have no clue who makes the desserts but they are outstanding and all were worth it for the price. The food here has a mix of quality. The top dishes (burger, sprouts, all desserts, salatim) were all really good while the main dish I got and the other appetizer were just alright and a bit overpriced. I'd prefer the spices be knocked up a tad but that's part of the thing with this cuisine. If my dishes were more worth it, I'd probably give it a mid 4 and round up for the friendly service. Upper 3 for now. Morning menu also looks spectacular

Luiza A.

Yelp
Lashevet was amazing! The service was incredible and the food was as well. I had the falafel kebab and my friend had the lamb - both incredible and a great size! The chairs you sit on also act as storage which was a nice touch. Would definitely come back again for the delicious food and attentive service :)

Miranda F.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop style restaurant with several middle eastern dishes. Wish the servings were a little larger, bc everything was so tasty. Really nice ambiance, prompt service. They serve Turkish coffee, which is always a nice change from the usual NY cup of joe.

Chanda A.

Yelp
Lashavet is a casual Middle Eastern cafe with a 100% vegetarian menu during the day and a cute outdoor seating area in the back. Turkish Coffee - Strong and piping hot in beautiful glassware! Turmeric ginger latte - First time ordering one of these, and while good, I missed the taste of coffee. Lashevet Shakshuka - Smallish serving, but delicious and really fresh. The pita bread is warm, fluffy and soaks up the tomato sauce perfectly! Moussaka - As far as I can tell this is the same as the Shakshuka, but with fried eggs instead of poached eggs. This is a new neighborhood favorite, and I will definitely be back. Highly recommended when you're in the UES!

Dan D.

Yelp
The Moroccan tea was the tip off. One of the best concoctions we had ever tasted. It looked simple, just a little lemon and ginger in hot water. Since one of the owners is a chemist, it's NOT that simple. Evidentially a fastidious 'masala' forms its base. Then we learned that all the culinary elements are especially curated for maximum nutrition and taste. The focus is Levantine like Ottolenghi was in the kitchen. The beets in the house salad were otherworldly. Lunch is light and dinner more complicated. Exquisite ambiance and service. Everything is wonderful.

Alicia P.

Yelp
My partner and I came here for dinner. Ambiance is lovely and staff are very amicable. We got the lamb kebab which tasted great and the tabouleh salad was exceptional! They were willing to accommodate us asking to switch out the rice that comes with the lamb kebab for more vegetables which we appreciated. Would come again but is a bit higher priced than other similar places in the area for the food quantity however the quality was very very goods

Ryan H.

Yelp
Try: Taste of Jerusalem, Moussaka, and Falafel Pita Sandwich Why: Great new Middle Eastern restaurant on the UES! The Taste of Jerusalem was a perfect appetizer with hummus, baba ghanoush and tahini. We also split the Moussaka and Falafel Pita Sandwich, which were both delicious. The Moussaka came with pita, which I also enjoyed dipping in hummus, baba, and tahini. My friend also got a Turkish coffee and loved it. Notes: Cute small coffeehouse and restaurant. Friendly staff. We went at 11:45am on a Sunday and they were already packed with most tables already reserved. We got lucky they had a small table for 2 towards the back. You order and pay at cash register. Had a great dining experience!

Marissa F.

Yelp
Lashevet is a cafe/coffee shop by day and a restaurant by night. I walked by it with no plans to grab food or coffee in the area, but came back a few hours later because it looked so inviting. I sat at a spot facing the window that's perfect for reading or getting some work done. The waiter who welcomed me inside was very kind and showed me their daytime menu - they serve shakshuka, moussaka, salads, soups, and sandwiches that all sound delicious. I ordered a pita sandwich with falafel, eggplant, and hummus. The pita was thick and fresh, and the falafel & eggplant tasted incredible together. I also ordered a slightly sweetened Turkish coffee, which was lighter than I expected but very refreshing. Looking forward to coming back for dinner!

Gitansh B.

Yelp
Such a great addition to the UES restaurant selection especially if you are craving some Middle Eastern food. I've heard that they serve a vegetarian menu in the menu and include non-vegetarian options in the evening. I came here with 2 friends on a Sunday afternoon for brunch. We got a ton of food and everything we got was fantastic. I got the Turkish coffee which I would highly recommend. I also got the following 2 items: Mezze Plate with Sesame Ka'ak Bread: Really good. I am not a fan of beets at all, but these beets were tolerable; if you like beets, I'm sure you'd really like these. The bread was fantastic! Both hummuses were good. Taste of Jerusalem: Would 100% recommend this. Every item on my plate was fantastic. Couldn't have chosen a better item on the menu in my opinion. Very happy with the selection. Can't wait to try the dinner/non-vegetarian option at some point!

Alden K.

Yelp
I was quickly seated by a super friendly waitress. She helped my with my order by giving useful suggestions. The inside is very nice. This seems like a great quick spot for a table service lunch. But the vibe could easily be a good date spot. I ended up getting the lunch sandwich special ($20). I chose the chicken, beets with carrots, and it comes with fries wrapped into the sandwich. It tasted delicious. It was not something that I would say can be commonly found around, it was very tasty. I would come back and order the exact same thing when I'm in the area again.

Michael C.

Yelp
First off, I think Lashevet is a beautiful and cozy restaurant with attentive service. However, I think there's work to be done. We started off with the dips and bread. I enjoyed the hummus which was on the thicker side compared to other restaurants. The bread was brushed with olive oil and light. Both complimented each other well. The tabouleh was fine-- I felt like I was eating mainly parsley. For our main dishes, I had the chicken kebab and rice. The chicken was, for lack of a better word, quite succulent. The rice with peas was pretty bland and required self salting. My partner got the salmon which was recommended by the staff. It was really fishy, with no acid to cut through. The center was also quite pink and squishy, a bit on the rarer side than I'd prefer. And the accompanying pepper puree sauce was so light, i couldnt really taste much of anything. Contrast that to the perfectly crisp and cooked cauliflower! In sum, cute date spot but the flavors need a bold boost!

Paul O. W.

Yelp
I can't believe they're closed. I went here 3 times in the last few weeks. No hint of closing. Oh well....

Lauren B.

Yelp
If you're not dining at Lashevet then you're just plain missing out. Cozy UES spot with warm and inviting decor. Every dish is delicious (flavorful and filling without being heavy) and the staff here are always so friendly and welcoming.

N S.

Yelp
I have been here twice : First time when it had just opened - We tried taste of Jerusalem and the shaksuka. They were both ok. It's a nice cozy chic place to sit, enjoy a meal and chat. The condiments are stored in cute bottles and taste good ... but the food itself tasted just ok but looked great. Second time was yesterday : Stopped by for a Bureka. Got a cheese one which is huge and cost $7. However it tasted oily and just bad ! I was looking forward to it because the cashier said it was really good. I wish she hadn't said that especially when I hadn't asked her how it was. I prioritize flavor and quality of food over ambience and overly friendly staff. Won't return.

Yelp
Visited Lashevet for the first time this past week. Bae and I arrived around 5:30pm and the restaurant wasn't busy, so we were able to get awesome seats by the front where the door / window opens. Our waitress, Pearl, immediately brought the menu and greeted us with a friendly smile. She provided her recommendations and allowed us some time to decide. I ordered an Alhambra Reserva to drink and the Shrimp Kebab as my entree. Bae ordered a Moroccan Mojito to drink and the Lamb Kebab as her entree. We ordered the Zaalouk and Crème Brûlée to share. Let's start with the drinks - my beer was good, but the Moroccan Mojito was the star for sure. I don't drink cocktails much and I didn't even order the mojito, but I became a believer and almost drank all of Bae's drink. I don't want to hype it up too much, but it was damn good! The Zaalouk was delicious! It was light and flavorful. Everything about my Shrimp Kebab was amazing. The salad wasn't some leaves that they just put together, it was carefully made. The salad tasted like every ingredient was carefully measured in order to produce perfection. The shrimp was cooked flawlessly (if you dip it with the aioli sauce they give you I promise you'll have dreams about it). The Crème Brûlée was Bae's order. It was also good, but I'm not much of a Crème Brûlée person. The owner, Lola, greeted us near the end of our meal. We had a heartfelt conversation where we learned a little about herself, her team, and the restaurant. We also learned that Pearl was the one who made the Mojito! Good food, good vibes, amazing staff, and jamming music. What more can you ask for?! 5/5 Yelp stars!

The eggs and avocado toast took me by surprise since I was expecting the typical basic fried egg over smeared avocado on a loaf of toasted bread. It's instead served as layers on top of two pitas. It was good, just different. Wish I had ordered the shakshuka. Service was great - they're so nice. Came on a Friday morning and it was empty and quiet.

Yelp
A very cute morrocan/Israeli/Lebanese inspired restaurant. The food was incredible! I really enjoyed the dips we got (hummus, babaganoush, zaalouk) and my lamb kebab entree was incredibly tasty. My group really loved the traditional Moroccan tea service as well. So happy to have Lashevet in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Sleepy service, poor food quality, and when we asked why it was like this they stated that their kitchen was backed up, yet the restaurant was damn near empty. Took an hour to get food. The food was dry and not cooked well and the restaurant was so dark with no lights, meaning the ambiance was terrible as well. I Had to pay about $10 more just for lousy bread! They are trying to be fancy, but worst service I have ever experienced. In conclusion, Go ANYWHERE else. STAY AWAY from this restaurant.

Yelp
The feeling of family might be slippery but can be found and experienced here. This meal reminded me of what sharing meant to me as a child, not as an adult.

Yelp
Lashevet was an accidental find one morning during my walk. The employee was so nice he came outside to give me a menu. He didn't mind me taking my photos. He was very knowledgeable and showed me the patio seating in the back. I would never have learned so much about this new business if he was really busy with customers. I'm sad that the place was empty but I felt special getting a complete tour. I liked the Boureka that comes in two sizes. Naturally I go for the Spinach. They open too late for me to have coffee. I will return to try more of the tasty food. The place is beautiful and clean. The employee friendly and the operation is handled very professionally. They close for an hour between morning and evening shift. The menu tells their story and has a comprehensive list of menu items. I can certainly see why everyone on Yelp is rating Leshevet Five Stars. I know I'll be back. Sophia's Salad is calling my name.

Yelp
New place around the corner from my sons apartment. No liquor license yet. Food was fresh and prepared with care . We had an assortment of appetizers and it was delicious. Mediterranean food is one of our favorites and this place did not disappoint.

Yelp
Yummmmmmmm! Lashevet is such a good restaurant. I'm so happy I got to visit there. I hope that I'll be able to go again the next time I visit!!!

Yelp
We enjoyed dining at Lashevet tonight. Lashevet is a welcoming and cozy antidote for the harsh New York winters. The owners are deeply involved, waiting tables , taking orders and taking time to chat with each table. It is the type of business you want to see succeed in this tough city because of the clear compassion the owners have for bringing people together. The bread and hummus were the best we'd ever had. By the end of the meal, there wasn't much to clear given we had all cleaned our plates. I was especially excited about several dishes which featured fava beans prominently.

Yelp
We went on a Wed at 5pm when they just reopened for dinner. Not busy at that time. It's a little place so I would get reservations just in case even though we didn't need to. Nice decor and good service. I started with a Pomegranate Martini which was great and my husband liked his Lashevet Cosmo. We got the hummus with bread basket for a starter. The hummus was good but alittle underseasoned. I did like that it wasn't over-lemony which I have found at some places but needed alittle salt to perk up the flavors. I did like the sprinkle of fried chickpeas for some crunch. Bread was very nice. I had the Shipudei (Kebab) chicken and my husband had the Shipudei (Kebab) lamb. Both kebab's were outstanding. My chicken kebab was so moist, tender and flavorful. It was the best chicken kebab I ever had. I also loved all the accompaniments - basmati rice, roasted tomato, cauliflower, brussels sprouts & shepherd's salad. Super fresh and delicious. We would definitely come back.

Yelp
Ambiance- small, but efficient and cozy. Nice decor with fresh flowers constantly being placed. Food- babba ganoush tastes authentic, excellent. Chicken and beef skewers with basmati rice very tasty. Service- this is the only reason why I'm giving 4 versus five stars. She was not the best in terms of service. She said when ordering that the bread basket would not be charged if we order babba ganoush(comes with bread) appetizer but ended up charging us at the end $8 for the bread basket in addition to the babba ganoush. She should've accommodated us for the misunderstanding but she didn't when mentioning it to her for we didn't even touch the extra bread.

Yelp
I live two blocks away from this restaurant and have been meaning to try it for a year. Let me tell you, I am upset that I waited this long to come here. The staff is super accommodating and recommended great options. The owner Lola is so friendly and makes you feel like you are eating at a best friends home and she is taking care of you with love and food. We were three people and ordered the dips with fresh bread. Normally at a Mediterranean restaurant dips are what they are but these served with the warm pita and pieces of Jerusalem bagels were special (highly recommend the hummus and baba). We also added a tabouleh salad which we liked so much that we finished it within minutes. The real stars of the show were the entrees. The two meat eaters at the table shared the chicken kebob and the lamb burger. The pescatarian ordered the shrimp kebab. The kebabs were awesome and served with rice, and some great vegetables. Highly recommend dipping in the house made jalapeño aioli that had a nice kick to it. The lamb burger was extraordinary (was so good I texted my other friends in the neighborhood about it as soon as I left). We ordered it rare and It was perfectly juicy and the pickled onions and yogurt sauce added some great flavor and texture. This dish will make it in to my monthly rotation 100%. We were very full at this point but we're so impressed with the food that we ordered dessert. The desserts change everyday but everything that was coming out of that kitchen looked spectacular. We will definitely be back, and I am already dreaming of my next meal at lashevet!

Yelp
This place has been across the street from the church where I work every weekend and somehow I only just tried it - kicking myself that I didn't do it sooner! I actually went there two days in a row - first for dinner with my mom, and next for lunch with a friend - it was that good. For dinner I had the succulent chicken breast, which was honestly one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Meat was tender and beautifully seasoned, the sauce was stunning, but the star was the Brussels sprouts/kale/almond/shallot/fig concoction on the side - simply out of this world! I always find that when a restaurant clearly cares about their vegetable sides, it's a good sign. The next day for lunch I had the Taste of Jerusalem, which was perfect for someone like me who wants to sample a bunch of items on the menu - all of which were excellent and accompanied by a generous basket of delicious breads. Oh, and the mint/ginger tea is a MUST! Our waiter remembered me from the night before and brought my friend and me a complimentary dessert - a sumptuous crème brûlée - as thanks for being a recent repeat customer. So overall, top-notch service, incredible food (with plenty of options for vegetarians and gluten-free folks, both of which I have in my family), and a beautiful, intimate, warm ambiance. I will absolutely be going back many times - lucky me that I work so close by!

Yelp
Delicious food, friendly staff, beautiful atmosphere. We celebrated a colleague's relocation here. Perfect. The mezze and bread were heavenly. Every item was delicious and sharing was fun. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Tried Lashevet since it's a local spot for me. Nothing blew me away but the meal was solid and enjoyable. I wish they had draft beers but bottle is better than nothing. Ambiance inside is cute and intimate. One of the male servers kept touching me when he passed by which was odd and unwanted but I guess I get it because it's tight quarters.

Yelp
Cute cozy restaurant with plenty of healthy food options. A few things on the menu are priced a little too high imo, but overall very satisfied with our meal and dining experience!
