"The oldest restaurant in Tannersville opened as a purveyor of cheese and antiques all the way back in 1971, expanding over several generations to include a well-stocked whiskey bar, live music room, and local treats store, offering chocolate, gifts, and more than 100 cheeses. Second-generation owner David Kashman recently expanded the restaurant, the charm of its typical American-style burgers, pies, and steaks revealed in the details: grilled brie, locally sourced meat, 300 specialty beers to drink, and organic vegetables from just down the road at Fromer Market Gardens. With most prices between $10 and $15, this is an agreeably affordable option with something for everyone." - Robert Rubsam

Google
Great experience! It was a little pricey, but the food was worth it. Service can take a little bit, but that's fair, especially when they're busy. The fondue was legit and to die for, though it wasn't really worth adding the charcuterie. The French onion and chili were awesome, though the chili had large chunks of jalapeños that I wasn't a fan of. The french onion needed a tad bit more salt but it tasted great. The burgers were also delicious. The fries were flavorful and crispy. Definitely recommend especially after a long day of winter activities.

this place was a great spot for lunch! the cheese board and food selections was wonderful. Not too heavy, an excellent menue for after a hike

Google
The chicken pot pie is so unique, light, flaky and absolutely delicious. I generally don't even like pot pie. But this was a flaky crust that was stuffed with chicken pot pie like stew into it. The store is super cute, great food and cheese!

Google
Got the goat burger and the knish-which - AMAZING!!! Great flavorful food, def going back. Was super speedy with the order - we had take out. Also great selection of beer, especially local beer - they even have a special made IPA that is specific and exclusive to this store!

Google
This place was amazing. I walked in and was greeted by a friendly face who was walking out and noticed we had a dog with us and said I’ll let them know you’re outside. Come to find out it was the owner and his son. So sweet. Our waitress Stacy showed the same kindness to us and brought our pup water in a bowl. The food was also very very good. Highly recommend.

Google
We stopped here after hiking kaaterskill falls and had the cheese fondue and some after hiking beers. The fondue and the service was great. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

Google
Good service , food is normal -Cheese fountain have in ingredients Cherry liqueur which was too much for me -Shrimp scampi very spicy, I turned it back - Steak Salad , normal , i also cant see somewhere in menu that it have blue cheese ( i dont love it)

Google
The macaroni and cheese was as pure as it comes, truly homemade taste and authenticity. The cheese platter was top notch as well as was the service. Very kind and shows that small towns remain. The atmosphere and variety of the menu could also not have been better. The only comment I have is the price, but yet again, a touristy area, so it comes with the territory

Yelp
After cancelling a hike nearby due to incredibly heavy rains and thunderstorms, we managed to scramble on over the Last Chance to avoid the rain and grab a quick bite. Last Chance serves up some GOOD sandwiches. I wasn't expecting much of this little restaurant based on its name, but I thoroughly enjoyed their French Dip & Mozzarella sandwich, and their chili. The roast beef, garlic bread, and dip paired together were *chefs kiss*. The horseradish aioli packs a punch for sure, but it went perfectly with the roast beef. I was most surprised by the fries, which came as potato wedges. I'm usually a bit of a wedge hater, but these were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They also don't skimp on the portions here. Thankfully I shared my meal with a friend - it was more than enough for both of us. Food took a little longer because we were a party of 7 (super understandable) and we came at peak lunch hours. The inside of the restaurant is interesting - many tidbits to look at while you wait for your food!

Char R.

Yelp
A group of us had lunch and cocktails here. The food was so good. The cocktails were too! A bunch of us ordered one of their cocktails - a blueberry drink - and it was so good! There are a bunch of shops nearby you can walk to as well. Great little area!

Yelp
Was a little concerned about the name (antiques and cheese?!?!?!) but this is a full service bar and restaurant. Got the Greek salad with chicken (veggies were fresh but chicken was a bit dry) and a chicken Caesar wrap to go. Friendly service, but realized part way out the door we had no utensils or napkins in the bag so had to go back and grab some. Nice amount of indoor and outdoor seating if you're eating in.

Yelp
Great service from our waitress and the bartender. They have live music there, I went there on a Saturday night and the live musician was very good. Unfortunately the food wasn't that great and was very underwhelming. The drinks were pretty good and had a large variety of beers.

Courtney F.

Yelp
We were in town for a staff retreat nearby and came with a large group (around 30 of us) for dinner. I am so impressed with the level of service that we received - Last Chance really knocked it out of the park. They have an extensive menu with plenty of vegetarian options. Everything tasted great, and came out super fast! Considering what a large group we had, their team was amazing and did a great job. I definitely recommend stopping by and checking it out - and make sure to get the fondue!

Eileen O.

Yelp
Beautiful atmosphere with interesting bits of local history decorating the walls. Food and service is excellent and the newly added bar is a gorgeous space. I took away a star, only because the windows are old and drafty and we were freezing on a cold February night.

Mala L.

Yelp
Happened in here while exploring Tannersville to grab a quick drink and relax for a bit. This is a cheese shop, but also a full service bar and restaurant. We sat at the bar and ended up staying longer than planned and ordered coffees, beer, an espresso martini, and a meat and cheese board. Our server was so kind and friendly. The cheese board was substantial and exactly what we needed to hold us over until dinner. Not the fanciest looking board we've ever had but the 3 cheeses were delicious! I regret not getting some cheese to bring back home. Would definitely recommend and stop in again next time I find myself in the area.

Yelp
WARNING! UNWELCOMING TO AFRICAN-AMERICANS! I visited here twice during a short getaway . As a person of color I did not feel welcomed and the service was awful both times. I felt discriminated against. 1st Visit: arrived at 9:20PM and was told by some ladies that the kitchen was closed around 8:30pm, however, after that we called and another man told us some food was available at the bar. 2nd Visit: We came in around 8:45/9 and it kinda crowded. One host greeted us and said she would be back with seating options. She didn't return and we waiting about 15/20 minutes to get some service. We even went to the bar and the bartender never made eye contact. We saw 2 white females come in after us and they were seated promptly. After being ignored we left and decided to spend money elsewhere.

Yelp
Great Food and Service. The ambiance was perfect and the mini- general store kept the kids occupied while we waited for the food. Some of meals were a little over-priced and not up to expectations, but it was an overall nice experience.

Yelp
It is my pleasure to review Last Chance Cheese. They have been owned by the same family for 30+ years, oddly enough, the same amount of time I've been coming up to Hunter and this area of the Catskills. Surprise, they have an amazing bar with a great homemade bloody mary mix, other fun, well-priced cocktails, and an extensive beer list with lots of local finds. Their Chicken Pot Pie is a career top seller, with good reason. I was a bit surprised when it came served sort of like an openface sandwich, but that flaky crust and filling are truly next level. My mom and I shared the steak sandwich and duck pate and both were delicious. The service is great, super small-town friendly. You can't go wrong here, and truly, nothing beats Last Chance after a day of hiking or snowboarding!

Yelp
Excellent choice for typical apres-ski fare. Pulled pork nachos were delicious. French dip lacked salt, but once it was salted it was good. Pastrami on a knish with Swiss (coleslaw and Russian dressing) was very good - thought texturally was a little off - if you don't have an issue with textures but like those flavors you're thoroughly enjoy. Menu is vast with something for everyone. Dessert list sounded amazing but we were way too full! We'll be back again to try more of the menu.

Blake G.

Yelp
Great apres ski location. Cozy dining room and good beer list, correction, GREAT beer list! We opted for a couple French Onion Soups oozing with cheese. Soup was hot, tasty and heavy on the onions. We also ordered the chili nachos that were just right for an afternoon bite. Some fresh lettuce on top was a nice touch. I ordered a local IPA that was out of stock. Without missing a beat, the waitress suggested a beer from the same brewery that was canned exclusively for the restaurant. It was delicious so mark a win for me and the waitress. Parking can be tricky on street but there are a few local lots that are convenient as well. Friendly service and good buzz of a crowd for 2pm. Appears kid friendly but I didn't investigate the menu for kid options. I guess I'll have to go back to finish my recon.

Will N.

Yelp
The best restaurant in Tannersville! I love this place! The food is delicious, the staff are friendly and the place is very exotic. Lots of antiques on the wall. They have a long list of beers. I do recommend the Pulled Pork Nachos, Cheese Fondue and the Black Angus Ribeye Steak.

Spike R.

Yelp
This is a nice little shop that is also a restaurant. We were staying at an Airbnb nearby and we had to get the cheese board. We were not disappointed in the amount of the assortment that we received. I cannot remember what cheeses they were but they were all delicious! The shop had a lot of snacks and candies to buy so we had to pack our bags full of those for the drive home. 10/10 would come back.

Ryan G.

Yelp
I love this place and will always stop in. Great Reuben's, beer selection, cheese selection... also a nice selection of other chocolates/sauces and souvenirs.

Alan J.

Yelp
We were starving and came here after leaf peepin fall foliage for the day. Last chance brought a wide selection of food for the meat eaters and the vegetarians of our group. We got beers and bloody Mary's, wings, Reuben's, nachos, split pea soup, cheese!!!!! Will be back, was so cozy!

Allison D.

Yelp
We hiked the Devil's Path in the morning and arrived here around 12:30 for lunch. The wait to request a table was long despite only 2 parties waiting, of which we were second. The wait to be seated wasn't much shorter. The hostess handed us our menus and gave us directions to the table. The wait to then give our drink & food order to our server was quite a bit longer than I am accustomed to, as well. It's peak leaf peeping season and a busy Sunday, however, so we chat about our hiking and review photos we took etc while we await our hot teas. The chili cheese nachos were delicious. Crispy chips, decadent cheese, and meat & red kidney beans made it's very welcome way to our tired tummies. Our sandwiches were each a bit lackluster but the flavors were good. My major complaint with my portabella sandwich was how undercooked on the inside it was accompanied by a taste of burnt oil from being cooked too fast on too high a heat. These were minor compared to the overall kind staff, pleasing ambience (there's a fireplace though we didn't sit near it) and good flavor profiles of our meals. Another companion joined us late and ordered the Reuben which was similarly almost-great. The dressing came on the side and the sauerkraut was nearly non-existent.

Carly R.

Yelp
The array of collectibles around the restaurant leave you constantly in awe. I ordered the French Onion Soup. It was hot and extra cheesy. I would have loved a little more bread in my soup. There was a great selection of beer. We ordered tbe fruit ale raspberry and it was refreshing and fruit-forward. It almost drinks like a cider. We would have loved a little more conversation with our waitress. She was not very inviting.

Paul W.

Yelp
I moved up to the top of the mountain for years ago. This was the first place that I had dinner, as my very good friends loved the place and thought that we would like it to. They had full bar service, so my wife ordered a margarita while I had a large sweet tea. I ordered the meatloaf And the three women I was with ordered various salads. The ambience of this establishment is really cool. Lots of antiques everywhere and there's a candy store upfront over by the bar. A candy store. A real one. With real candy. From like, a long time ago. Good candy. So before you leave, make sure you have a little extra money because you're gonna want some candy. The drinks came, and they were well prepared and presented. The waitress was quick to bring me back an extra straw and extra sugar, and she smiled and asked if there was anything else she could do before our food came. "No," I replied, "you were very helpful." She smiled and off she went. She returned with a huge platter of food. My meatloaf was a very large portion with very brown gravy, some delightful, looking mashed potatoes, and various vegetables as a side. And taking a fork full, I was not disappointed. It was very good. Better than mom ever made, and I'm really sorry mom, but that's true. You made horrible meatloaf, mom. This place more than makes up for it. I'll send you a Mother's Day card but it's the truth. I met the owner, who was friends with our dining companions, and he was very friendly as well. He made great pains to learn our names as he knew we were new residents. I excused myself to be able to go and buy pounds and pounds of delicious gourmet candy. I did mention that they had good candy, right? The old stuff along with locally made gourmet stuff. You know: salted caramel's, chocolate, covered salted caramel's, oversized peanut butter cups, that were made of all natural ingredients. Good stuff. During the pandemic, this was the only place I would go in order to have delivered to car service, and I would always get the meatloaf. The owner would deliver it out to my car himself, because he knew I loved his food. I can tell you certain things. There is food in this world that is very very fancy. There's a place for it. There is food in this world that is very very inexpensive. There is a place for that as well. There is a place in this world for comfort food, the kind of food that makes you just feel good, the kind that tastes good, that fills you up. This is that kind of food. The good kind of food. Unpretentious, but well-made of good ingredients and well plated. I give it my highest recommendation. Eat here. Early and often.

Jay C.

Yelp
Excellent food and very friendly staff. Highly recommend this hidden gem. Cheese board was to die for.

Sam Z.

Yelp
Yup, last chance does not disappoint! I stopped in once again, this time to try their Roast Beef over mash ($19). And again was not disappointed, large hearty portions, and delicious flavors. I can't wait to come back to Tannersville Ny. Service was great! Very friendly and attentive as well as Covid precautions are in effect. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Bryan W.

Yelp
The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was really good. Our waitress dropped the ball on a few things but it was very busy during lunch time.

Lissa C.

Yelp
This is such a late post as this was taken in November 2021, however as I reminisce on photos I was reminded of the delicacy of Last Chance. If we did not live two hours away, my fiancé and I would be at this spot so often. We are huge cheese lovers and this vintage 70's vibe of a restaurant really made us complete. The cheese fondue was so fresh and you can order additional meats for an extra price. The burger was cooked to perfection and we had a nice dessert to end it off. The staff are so sweet and kind, and this place deserves much more appreciation especially during the the pandemic. So if you're a huge cheese fan like we are, I highly recommend this place. Please note that they are only open on the weekends , for now.

Amy B.

Yelp
Possibly the worst meal I have had in years. We ordered a NY strip streak with baked potato and the meatloaf with mashed potatoes. The steak came smothered in spinach and onions and cold mashed potatoes (not baked). When we told the server she laughed and said we can scrape it off the $31 steak! The meatloaf was dry and flavorless and when the manager stopped by to see how we were doing he didn't care a bit when we expressed our issues. Please save your money and go elsewhere!

Cat B.

Yelp
First, the food was amazing which I'll get into in a bit but to be honest, I'm on here to rant about how much some people suck & it has nothing to do with the restaurant. My husband & I were here on a Friday afternoon on a holiday weekend in October. Wait was 10-15 minutes. No big deal but apparently to others it is. The poor hostess running around kept getting harassed by 2 impatient families wanting to sit. They only had 2 waitresses which is not her fault so stop harassing the workers, wait patiently, or sit outside at one of the patio tables that was offered if you wanted to sit right away & keep your coat on, or get in your car & go somewhere else. The food... Buffalo chicken wings were well sauced & crispy. The Mac & cheese!!!! The absolute best I've ever had! Creamy. Had a mild smokiness. Used shells which is the supreme noodle of choice for Mac & cheese. It was a crisp day so I got the hot afternoon coffee. Came out topped with lots of whipped cream & the addition of the alcohol really warmed me up. Highly recommend Last Chance

Anna O.

Yelp
... well we all got a craving for espresso martinis and since this was one of the only places open we went in! The servers were super friendly, considering how many of us there were. but I have to say these espresso martinis were so hard to drink. They were extremely sweet and no cream at all which even made it bitter bec I think they had espresso sitting around for a long time. My friend got the margarita and she said it was a two out of five as well. as for presentation of the drink, I thought it looked very pretty but like I said, I literally needEd water to drink this. We also got chicken wings and those went pretty quick so I'd say they were about a 3.5/5.

Sharon S.

Yelp
I had THE MOST DELICIOUS French dip sandwich for lunch! Wow-the bread was so fresh and the roast beef was so flavorful. The sandwich was appropriately sized-not too big, not too small. As Goldilocks would say, it was just right! The Restaraunt is cute and kitschy-My little nephews would love all the candy! They are open on Monday and Thursday. We will be back!

Francisco E.

Yelp
Local cheese shop and restaurant that offers some quality cheeses and wines, but the restaurant's service and dinner food left me disappointed. Food: My (3) pros are the Buffalo Chicken Salad, they have a cheese shop with what I assume are quality cheeses, & they have Cakebread wine which is a fave of mine. The chili was okay, the french onion soup needed actual caramelized onions, and the portobello and goat cheese sandwich was good but nothing to write home about. Service: When we entered the restaurant we saw their sign that told us to wait to be seated. We were then handed menus and told to seat ourselves in a less than welcoming manner. We were constantly waiting for our waters to be refilled and the restaurant was at around 30% capacity with half the staff congregated at the service station talking. Location: Quaint small ski town vibe with available street parking about 9 mins from Hunter Mountain.

Eric M.

Yelp
Happily surprised! Wonderful meat loaf and Mac & Cheese we're great! Recommend. Service also great!

William M.

Yelp
Very welcoming, great vibe and the people who work here are friendly and warm. If you have children, they have a candy bar that's not huge, but reminds me of a throwback to another era

Michael P.

Yelp
We loved this place. So much that on our two nights in Tannersville, we ate here both nights. First of all, they have great gluten-free options and a gf menu. Secondly, the service (from Kayla B both times) was OUTSTANDING. She was on top of her service game, and it's not just about the technical and mechanical aspects of service, but she was also really fun to talk to, and she really knew the menu and the dishes quite well. On the first night, she made great suggestions for the local cheeses, and even offered a combination of regular and gluten-free crackers so that my wife and I could share the cheese dish. And her service was great both nights, acknowledging us quickly, bringing drinks and checking on refills, checking on our food (really no need to do that anyway since it came out in very reasonable time), and she was just a fun server to interact with. The food, though, was excellent. The first night I wasn't all that hungry so I just had some cheeses/fruit/sausage (by the way the sausage was just as good as the cheese). But the second night, I had the chicken pot pie I'd been eyeballing. And it was every bit as good as it looked and as good as the other reviewers said. Man, that was the flakiest, most delicate crust I've ever had, I didn't scald myself on the inside of the pot pie, the cubes of chicken were awesome, tasty, and the ratio of sauce/chicken/vegetables to pastry was absolutely perfect. I highly recommend this dish! Oh, and the breadsticks were great, too. My wife had the bison burger on gluten-free bun the first night and it was also very good. And the gf bun didn't fall apart like so many do. The mashed potatoes were really good, too. The second night she had the grilled chicken with vegetables - excellent again. The rice was quite good too. She also made great drinks - the Old Fashioned (with maple syrup!) for my wife, and the espresso martinis for me. Both were EXCELLENT drinks. Sometimes the espresso martinis are too sweet, not in this case, they were just perfect. So she's not just an excellent server but also an excellent bartender. I liked the ambiance, too. We didn't opt to sit outside but it looked really pleasant. And the music choices were great, too. Mixture of classic and current/alternative. Nicely done. Hard to beat this place. And it was really close to where we were staying. Would return in a heartbeat!

Sally M.

Yelp
The best split pea soup, beer selection, atmosphere, and more great memories over the years than I can count!

Michelle D.

Yelp
I'm so glad this place still operates in COVID. This is a small cute restaurant with adorable vintage shops selling various sweets, preserves, chocolate, and cheese. We went there after a nice easy walk on Caterskill Area (to see the waterfalls etc). They had HUGE selections of beers. For the meal I tried buffalo wings and brie for appetizers. The buffalo wings are tender and succulent, but I guess they could have been more saucy. I like the sour kick of the buffalo sauce though. The brie tasted amazing over soft bread, accompanied with crisp green apples on the side. Had goat cheese and portobello sandwich for main, in which they use pita bread. It was lightly flavored but I like the strong scent of the goat cheese. The bread was a bit too dry and tough. The staffs are very swift and friendly, so service was good. A couple of friends then bought the various chocolate and sweets product that they have. They said the unsweetened dark chocolate & almond bark was really good

Anastasia T.

Yelp
After hiking in the Catskills, my wife and I were quite cold and hungry so we decided to check this place out. The beer list was pretty extensive giving the area and I appreciated the local options. Their mushroom and goat cheese sandwich was delicious -- just make sure you give the mushroom some time to cool down before eagerly biting into it like I did and burning the roof of my mouth. Worth it though. Would definitely come back if I were in the area.

Genevieve M.

Yelp
First review ever and I'm glad it's for Last Chance. Came in on a busy Saturday night, Owner told me wait was 5 minutes and he kept his word. He opened up an area for me and my dad that had this beautiful grand piano that caught my eye. The owner told me "it's tuned for you" and I was honored to play it. The food is delicious, the environment is clean and homey, the staff is amazing. 6 stars from me!

Dan D.

Yelp
What an amazing place to go to whether you want drinks appetizers or a full meal. Kat is an amazing bartender in the tavern. Friendly and full of options of local drinks. The owner Dave was the best. Very down to earth and even let us bring our dog Vegas into the tavern. The cheese there is on another level....... if coming to the area stop here and you will feel like a regular.

Tom H.

Yelp
Ordered for curbside pickup. Looked like they have both indoor and outdoor dining available. Placed order online, website is pretty good but a little confusing selecting options for each meal but love the ability to customize. Wife ordered the spinach quiche and I got the French dip. We split a tomato and mozzarella appetizer. Food was really excellent. The dressing on the tomato mozzarella was out of this world. Wife's quiche was great, my sandwich was great. Everyone masked up, saw lots of cleaning and safe activity which is hugely appreciated these days. Will be back for sure

Sue S.

Yelp
came here because it was on our list to eat places while we were here on our getaway near our hiking trail. we parked on the street and walked over. it gave me old small town cozy vibe which was nice. the staff was nice and helpful when it came to making food decisions. their liquor drinks were a bit strong but not bad. we got the cheese sampler which my sister liked. my mom , sister and i absolutely LOVED their chicken pot pie - soooo crispy flaky on the outside and soft inside - definitely recommend 100%! the burger was okay (nothing special) - the sauce they use (chipotle i think) was delicious with the fries though!

Penelope T.

Yelp
Favorite first stop on the mountaintop! Love the Buffalo Chicken sandwich, the meatloaf and the shrimp cocktail. Herbal iced tea is my go to. Can't forget to stop at the cheese counter to buy cheese and chocolate before leaving!

Samantha D.

Yelp
The food itself here was very average, nothing was a true wow factor. Which was fine at first for a place to eat in the town. But then as we were eating lunch we saw a MOUSE run across the floor! When we told our waitress staff they said "oh yeah, I'll tell my boss" No one did anything and really cared. As we walked out we noticed MANY mouse traps around the cheese and candy area. I would absolutely avoid this. Do not eat here unless you want a real like ratatouille meddling in your food!

Paulina L.

Yelp
Got a pull pork sandwich and it was delicious! Well sauced and very tender. Wait also was pretty fast, considering many other restaurants in the area were booked up for the night or had long waits.

Jody B.

Yelp
It's been a few years since we've eaten here. It used to be a destination spot but sadly after tonight's terrible service we will not return. The waitress who kept calling us her " friend" with the blue green hair was just a terrible server. Food was ice cold as it sat on a tray close to our table but was not served. Forgot to bring a spoon for our now cold soup since she disappeared for a while and another server helped out. She was disorganized and never brought our check. Get proper help or your business is going to die.

Kate R.

Yelp
Super cozy inside. Lovely waitress. We had sangrias and a cheese plate with local cheeses that was delicious to start the meal. Then my husband and I both picked one of their burgers and they were out of this world. 10 out of 10 will go back next time we are in the area

Trista R.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! So glad we've decided to go here. Amazing cheese collection and beer collection.

Yelp
Came here after a 2 hr hike at Kaaterskill Falls. Menu was normal. Large brewery selection. Decor was definitely antique - low light. I give this establishment much respect for following social distance guidelines. Overall the food hit the spot!

Sarah G.

Yelp
Last Chance is certainly unique with a small shop within the restaurant primarily selling cheese and candy (catering to both the indulgent adult and kid). Antiques are everywhere - including decor on the ceiling. The food is just like the decor, comforting. Perfect for brunch or lunch and very reasonably priced with various options. I appreciate that there is a vegetarian section and enjoyed my veggie pita (minus the cheddar).

Yelp
Went to dinner at Last Chance Antiques & Cheese Cafe on Saturday night. Did not find the charm described by many others in this spot, instead experienced poor service and below average food. Quality: Ended up at Last Chance Antiques & Cheese Cafe based on the recommendation of a local at a brewery we visited. And while items such as the fondue sounded like a treat, nothing we ordered was noteworthy. We started with the Duck Liver Pate. An underwhelming iteration that was too pungent for my taste. It also came with more crackers than any one would ever need. I was very excited for the Cheese Fondue with Sausage, but it too was not very good. They used a Swiss cheese, that I felt was too mild and sweet. I think adding in some other cheeses would have led to a better and more balanced flavor. We ended our meal with a Brownie Sundae, the highlight of the meal. It is hard to go wrong with this item, and luckily they did not. Quantity: The Cheese Fondue is large and is made to share between a whole table, but it can work for a meal instead of an appetizer. Value: $11 for the Duck Liver Pate. $21 for the Cheese Fondue with Sausage. $7 for the Brownie Sundae. Ambiance: Last Chance Antiques & Cheese Cafe is a large complex in the Upstate New York town of Tannersville. It has a restaurant, a shop, and an attached bar. I get the sense that this place was originally just a cheese and antiques shop and with popularly expanded with a restaurant and then expanded again with a bar. That would explain the strange, cluttered, and uncoordinated space. When we finally ended up sitting, it was at a table in the very back trapped between oddly placed walls. The music was all over the place, and many of the tables sat empty and dirty. There just seemed to be no coordination, which is badly needed at a multi-layered business. Service: Poor. After checking in with the host they directed us to their adjacent bar. The bartenders were a complete mess, unable to locate drinks, completely overwhelmed by the small crowd, and extremely rude. By the time they got to us, our table was ready and they could not figure out how to handle the check quickly. The restaurant itself was better, but not by much. No coordination with our order and unbelievably slow. Also, the amount of dirty tables sitting empty was frustrating for folks being asked to wait at the bar. Parking: Street parking along the busy main road.

Yelp
The food is delicious, the service great, and the atmosphere comfortable. Great for a snack or a mean, or even just a drink and some cheese shopping.

Yelp
This place has a very nostalgic look and feel. From imported beers, large array of cheeses, to gourmet candies unfortunately the food is sub-par. If they brought focus on a stronger quality menu and the food was better then average, the place would be a real winner.

Yelp
Last Chance Cheese is a long time staple in Tannersville. The food is always good and the staff are always friendly. I've been coming here for years and will continue.
