"Lately is a take-out window in Chinatown that serves weekday breakfast and lunch. For now, it’s a very simple set-up as they work towards opening a full sit-down restaurant later this year. You'll order at a window, take a seat at one of the few shaded picnic tables, and eat quick, tasty breakfast classics like doughnuts, waffles, and egg sandwiches. They also have a slow-cooked yam topped with a fried egg, and a fantastic fried green tomato sandwich. The lunch selection is a little smaller, but it includes a simple and delicious kale salad. They’re only open until 1pm and are closed Tuesdays and weekends." - Jess Basser Sanders

I visited this cafe yesterday with a group of about 20 friends, and we had a fantastic experience! We used the private basement space, which was perfect for our gathering. At just $30 per person, the food portions were generous, and everyone was really satisfied. The salad toast was particularly delicious – the vegetables were super fresh, and the flavor was spot on! Also, their minced meat rice was hands down the best we’ve had in New York. It wasn’t overly sweet, with a hint of acidity from vinegar that really suited our taste. The private space made it feel cozy and undisturbed, which is pretty rare to find around here. Highly recommend for gatherings and small events!

Absolutely LOVE Lately Cafe! They have very unique latte flavors and fun seasonal drinks, and the food is always great. The indoor space is really cozy, and perfect for work or a chat with friends. The outdoor courtyard is a great space for any events and small gatherings!

I had lunch at Lately Cafe and tried their new steak curry over rice—it was such a comforting meal, especially in this freezing winter! The curry was flavorful, and the steak was tender and perfectly cooked. A great spot for a warm, satisfying meal. I’ll definitely come back to try more of their dishes! If you’re in the neighborhood after visiting MoMA PS1 or SculptureCenter, I highly recommend stopping by for a delicious meal.

We got our food and coffee at 10:54am and the male waiter started to kick us out at 11:17am, despite the sign clearly said dining time limit 1.5h, there are still 10 empty tables, and that we haven't finished our coffee. He had an attitude since the very beginning when taking our order - probably a bad day for him? I hope he finds a job that he likes.

Nice pastry and coffee!!! Since I was sitting in it would have been nice to have a proper cup, instead of the paper kind. Overall, lovely place and great service.

This place is an absolute gem, perfectly located right next to the subway station. Whether I'm heading to work or coming back, I love stopping by for a coffee or a glass of drink, paired with some light and healthy snacks. The atmosphere is always inviting, as they also host fantastic events like live music nights and fun game gatherings, making it a vibrant hub of activity. The owner is incredibly friendly and welcoming, which adds a personal touch that makes this spot feel more like a community than just a café, bar, or restaurant. It's a wonderful place to meet interesting people and unwind. Highly recommend!

I ordered the spicy pork rib & duck feet hotpot today, which is part of the new menu. The hotpot is very tasty. It is not that spicy but very flavorful. Also the service was very good. Definitely will visit here again and try other courses.
