Best Restaurants in Seattle’s Green Lake Neighborhood | Eater Seattle

"This neighborhood staple has been championing local brews since 1987 and has an incredibly well curated rotating tap list. It’s maybe best known for its Earth Day “Keg Walk” event where Seattle breweries bring kegs to the bar without using any emissions-causing vehicles. But it maybe should get some more love for its food, which is a step above standard pub fare. Try the umami miso clam chowder for dinner; for lunch you can opt for the juicy Latona burger. Kust make sure the smoky house aioli is part of your plan" - Harry Cheadle

Went for Wednesday trivia night at 8pm and even though it was packed, service was top tier!!! Really slim but actually quite decent wine selection (Sauvignon Blanc was great - they gave me a generous pour) and the food looked yummy even though I didn’t have any. Seems like a good place for catching up, date night, whatever else, family time (idk). Great bar. $20 for 2 drinks???? Yes please

Google
The perfect neighborhood pub! I love coming here for Wednesday trivia, even though my group is always terrible at it we have a fantastic time! Great beer and cider selection, wonderful staff, and a lively and fun atmosphere. It's perfect for a nice summer evening or a dreary winter day and I always look forward to coming back.

Although I no longer live close by, I make the trip as often as possible to enjoy the best burger in Seattle, exquisitely diverse tap list and flavorful overall vibe. Things have changed over the years, but the food, beer, local music and friendly environment is always exceptional. Everything on the menu is succulent, but the burger is my go-to. Love that it comes with a salad (amazing vinaigrette dressing) rather than fries. Duck confit salad was also something so special. Cocktails are also notable as is sitting at the bar and chatting with the other friendly folks that patronize this long-running gem. I miss the previous cooks that seemed to be family and the riffraff that was always going on in the cozy little cooking quarters. Super secret upstairs seating and newer outdoor limited seating is also a fave! Yum!

Google
Best shrimp I’ve had outside of Louisiana, no doubt. We stumbled upon this neighborhood gem today on a weekend trip to Seattle and are already planning our return for dinner Sunday night. Local ingredients that you can taste and made-from-scratch meals with friendly service you can’t beat. Beer choices are also excellent. Don’t skip!

Google
Ok, first off, I have never been so fortunate as to live in this neighborhood, so I haven't been to the Latona as often as it deserves, but I have been going there for 30 years. The beer selection has always been top notch. The staff has always been friendly, the vibe is great. What I have noticed over the past few years is the food has been seriously leveling up. This is what pub food dreams of being. Approachable, perfectly executed, delicious, with always-changing specials. I keep walking in torn between getting the burger or the pork nachos, and keep being lured away by yet another incredible special. Excellent place for a Negroni as well, I might add.

Google
In an era of disconnected, isolating self-consuming bullshit, Latona Pub is a real neighborhood pub. Lively, delicious, active, inviting, friendly, and damn good food. An amazing tap-list(changing constantly) and specials board. And the coolest staff. Makes me happy :-)

Google
So Someone decided to do the mussels up in a mustard/cream situation. Good god / man alive, man! Never ever have tasted something like that, before. So good. So nice. Then you get the live jazz?.... As well? Whoooooooooo. Weeee. Ok. Alright.

Maia Hammy

Google
Outstanding service and creative, yummy dishes. Not a huge menu and you'll find a variation of the main offerings during Happy Hour (4-5:30 & 9-10pm). We had the Pulled Pork Nachos with beery cheese sauce and our favorite Juanita's chips. A little spicy: jalapeños and pico de gallo (on the side of you ask). Loved the Busty Lush nonalcoholic beer, She's Divine Stout. Impressed with the dark beer (alcoholic) offerings too--a rare find.

Yelp
Cool little pub with good selection of drinks and pretty reasonably priced food that's actually good. Live band playing jazz while you eat. Looking forward to coming back for more.

Yelp
Atmosphere was so chill on a wednesday around lunch time. Super clean, i'm always turned away from eating in a pub/ bar environment but not here. I came with my girlfriend and a buddy, All the food was stellar, Cajun Turkey club was smack, Lotoda Burger was Smack, And the streak sandwich to die for. Honestly someone back in the kitchen genuinely cares about food, or keeping a job. Server was blunt chill not overbearning which i love. Great great experience and I never leave Yelp reviews unless the place GENUINELY deserves it.

Yelp
It's the neighborhood pub! We went in for the coveted gourmet crunchwrap supreme and stayed for the banter with locals. It was a really muggy no good wet November day. We went for a misty walk around Green Lake and stopped in for crunchwraps after seeing the Seattle Times article. We were greeted with a classic warm wood pub, fit with plenty of neon. The bartender was an absolute good neighbor and super friendly with us and shared his stories in bartender fashion. The Crunchwrap was sure gourmet, with steak innards, pickled onions, truly a crunch wrap for for a king. Given how the local TB Crunchwrap (ahem LCA TB) is like 10 dollars I'd say this dude is well worth the moola. Along with fun convos of locals at the bar, a hot toddy lifted my spirits on the gloomy day. The ambiance at this place sure feels like the Old Days. I'll be sure to come back, even on the nice weather days!

Yelp
This place has FANTASTIC ambience and some delicious, creative cocktails. My friends and I came in one evening and there was a nice jazz trio playing in the corner. The lighting was perfect -- warm and dim but still light enough to see people's faces. We were led up to an upstairs corner booth that looked over the bar like a birdcage. It was super cozy and cute, but didn't feel cramped. One of your staff who brought us our drinks chatted with us a bit, and he was really funny. We asked him for some puns and he gladly obliged. Dude was awesome. This is a great little spot I'll come back to next time I'm in that neighborhood!

Yelp
The food , it's pretty good but I'm giving 3 stars bc I ordered my food to go over the phone then they tell me that there's an 18% gratuity for to go orders. Like what?! All ur doing is bagging my food?! Let me do it then! Lol I'll bag my own food ‍ I couldve said "nevermind "but at that point I had already ordered our food and to top that off we were too hungry to find another spot to get food from and that's how they get away with it. It's a shame bc they food is quite tasty but charging ur customers gratuity on a TO GO orders left a very bad taste on my mouth and I won't be coming back.

Yelp
Met friends at the Latona pub for dinner on a Tuesday night and it was quite busy. Great ambiance with lots of windows and it was bright and vibrant. Waiter was great and beers came out fast. My wife and each ordered burgers, I ordered the blue cheese burger Nd my wife the cheese burger and a side of coleslaw. The burgers were $19.00 and you get nothing with them but the burger. The service for the food was very slow, 40 minutes and when we got the burger, they were way overcooked and had no flavor whatsoever. I should have sent it back, but we had already waited 40 mins and didn't want to have to wait more than we had already waited. The coleslaw was with purple cabbage and no tang and not even sure any dressing at all. I have been to the pub in the past for the music and enjoyed myself.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and a great location! This spot is one of my favorites. A fantastic place to take a break after a day at the lake.

Yelp
LOVE IT HERE the staff is the sweetest ever!!! I love coming here and the food is absolutely amazing. Drinks are always great too. I love it here and it's always a great ambiance. I come here weekly! And if I don't I get withdrawals.

Yelp
I've gone to this fine neighborly pub since it opened some 25 years ago. Yesterday's nachos were the best I've ever had--anywhere. Creatively designed and flavored. Wow. As always, great staff too.

Lauren P.

Yelp
I want to like this place so bad! The food and drinks are pretty good and they have live music. But it's uncomfortable- unless you score one of the only 2 small booths - it tends to be overly cramped (2 person tables 12 inches apart)- and, the place is so busy the wait staff seem focused on just turning tables (which kills the otherwise friendly vibes). Many people don't seem to mind- but something to consider if you like a little more breathing room.
google avatar

Giorgio P.

Yelp
Classic neighborhood pub in green lake. Casual outside seating if you get there early. Good music most evenings.

Yelp
This place is amazing! I came because a friend saw an ad for the Mario Kart tournament so of course I had to go for moral support. We arrived early for dinner and drinks. It was super busy on a weeknight (not sure if this is normal or if it was because of Mario Kart night), but we were able to find a table. A server came by quickly and gave us menus. We weren't sure how to order so we tried to go up to the bar and order, but our server actually tracked us down and told us to sit back down! All the food and drinks we got were amazing and all of the staff were awesome too. I'll definitely be back again another time!

Yelp
Anyplace with live jazz gets a 5 star. Didn't eat but the beer flowed freely and the music on Friday is always some of the best musicians in Seattle
google avatar

Indrani S.

Yelp
We just shifted in the neighborhood, so this was our first visit to this place. It's all you ask for in a pub- TV, music, right food and just the right variety of drinks. The place is beautiful and the staff was super friendly. She suggested to try out the flight of beers and it was the best decision made :) The concept to rate anonymously served beers was something new and exciting. The food we ordered was adequate for the two of us. They do have a wide range of food and it's not super expensive. Highly recommend! We will definitely come back soon :)
google avatar

Michelle A.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about Latona Pub. We're new to the area and happened upon the pub. Everything we ordered was delicious and special. Highly recommend a cold pint of Old Schoolhouse. You gotta try the beer cheese too!
google avatar

Cat Z.

Yelp
I've been coming here for 13 years. There's a new chef and a new rotating menu that is surprisingly excellent. The staff is always kind. The vibe is what you want it to be: cozy booth, talkative bar, or in-between table by a giant window.

Yelp
***SUPPORT THIS NEIGHBORHOOD INSTITUTION*** We all love our neighborhood pub. You can support them in these difficult times buy buying a gift card here: https://ko-fi.com/latonapub/commissions#buyCommissionModal

Yelp
Totally fine, totally serviceable. It's "good", as in not bad, but not great; not special, but not a letdown. If you're nearby and feel like a pub stop, it'll do the trick -- this place is exactly that, no less and no more.
google avatar

Lee A.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Although the food menu is a bit limited the food is great! I'm not much of a beer drinker, but I really liked on of their sours. This looks like a local hangout for many regulars. Only thing I'm not crazy about is the seating. It's a little uncomfortable This is a good place to chill with friends.

Yelp
We live very close by but just went here for the first time last week. Their draft selection varied, the staff were helpful and friendly, and their food was extremely tasty. Oh my word. I think that we all know bar food can be very hit or miss, but this place definitely lived up to their reviews. We had the Brussels sprouts, chicken pot pie, and grilled cheese. Everything was made to order, came out piping hot, and was very satisfying. It was a great spot to grab a drink and catch up with an old friend without being disturbed, but definitely was not slow in business. Next time we come back I really want to try the jalapeño bacon dip!
google avatar

Jared M.

Yelp
Decent spot for a bite and a beer. I had a sour and an IPA and both were tasty. They had a couple options of a number of types of beers (IPAs, sours, ales etc.) and good breweries on tap. The food was simple but good. I got the bratwurst plate and would definitely do it again. The skin was crisped lightly, sauerkraut was not too vinegary and the beer cheese was fantastic. Knowing that I probably would get the beer cheese next time. The reason for 3 stars is that the waiter missed my order so my poor date had to sit there and wait for my food which we didn't realize was not on the way. The guy was nice about it but her food got somewhat cold by the time my food came out. I expected him to give a discount because it threw off the meal but there was no discount on the meal.

Yelp
Honestly there is so much I love about this place it's hard to get start but here we go! 1 If you like amazing food that's both comfort style, tastes like it's chef home made and also is made sure to have a interesting detail or twist that makes the meatloaf not the one you grew up on but it's fancy uncle who just adds pizazz to an already delicious recipe. 2. If you like a relaxed vibe, a neighbors hangout vibe, the same amazing staff seen regularly and amazing service to top it all off, then I don't know why you haven't found this spot till now! 3. I saved what I believe is the best of bests at this place for last. LIVE JAZZ FRIDAY NIGHTS during happy hour. I can't even describe the happiness, the ease and content feeling you have sitting upstairs looking down on that upright base and sax just swooning to the beautiful music feeling like this is exactly where you should be and your heart is full. Clearly I love this place on another level but it's no accident that it's always busy and that the first timers become regulars so often. Moral of the story, if you want to enjoy an amazing meal that has home cooked comfort while being cooking show level crafted, you want to bask in the happy, easy going and entertaining atmosphere, AND IF YOU LOVE LIVE JAZZ, get your deserving self to this spot. I would be surprised if you didn't love at least one of my top three reasons this place is divine. Ps. I didn't go into their amazing beer and cider options their constant rotating phenomenal deserts and salads and soup specials that make you actually want soup and salad because it's that good. Their is so much more to love and obsess over with this spot but I encourage you to go find out your favorite parts if you fall hard like I did! Cheers!

Samantha H.

Yelp
Such a cool environment when you want a bar vibe but clean and cute and AMAZING food. Such fast service too! Our server Matt was great super friendly. Saw 3 other things on the menu I can't wait to try! Will definitely be back soon!
google avatar

Yelp
On the day that I went, their beer selection looked nice and local... but, sadly all of it was too dark for my tastes. To be fair, I enjoy wheat beers the best... so it's rather easy to go "too dark for my tastes." On that day their selection included Immersion Amber (by Two Beers Brewery) and the Pike Dry Wit (by Pike Pub & Brewery). Their menu appears to have some very appetizing options, but we were feeling peckish and ended up sharing a couple of appetizers (hummus and the cured meat plate) and not going for any entrees. Those were good but not amazing. I think their other menu items (especially: Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Tomato Basil Bisque, Chicken Pot Pie, Oregon Country Meatloaf, Cider Cured Pork Chop, Portobello Sandwich) sound a lot more promising! Oh and I love that they use bread from Columbia City Bakery!
google avatar

Yelp
Maybe the best burger in town! At least a full 1/2 pound of fresh hamburger meat locally sourced, great meaty flavor on a hard bun. Comes with a healthy salad and I find it very filling and satisfying. Already have been back twice in a single week ordering the same thing. So, it must be good. Check out my attached photo for the prove!
google avatar

Yelp
Solid food, great drink selection. I am a huge fan of the weekly Pasta Fresca feature on the menu. All of the regulars here are true Seattlelites. Or, at least, that's how I perceive them because it seems only people who have lived here for a while know about this gem. It is my goal to become a regular here so that I, too, can pass as a Seattle native. I'll break down this review by meals ordered and update every time I try a new one. If you want a review on the drink selection, go look at someone else's review. No I'm kidding, don't leave me. Just know you will be in good hands at Latona no matter your tastes. Fair warning, most of these meals are going to be the Pasta Fresca features as I can't turn away from what I know and love: Macaroni and Cheese- It is well known that I base my overall rating of a restaurant in large part due to their mac&cheese dish. An American classic, if you don't have good mac&cheese, can I really trust you to satisfy my desires? Well have no fear, Latona. Their Mac is awesome. Sophisticated penne noodles with a yummy (but oily) cheese sauce. I love adding bacon to this meal because they are not stingy. I swear I had 6 full pieces of bacon in my Mac last time. Maybe that's why there was a lot of oil. Oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ **Pro tip, this meal is pretty large, I usually can have dinner and tomorrow's lunch out of it. Still tastes good after reheating it in the microwave. Cheese Plate (appetizer)- MM MM MM. Ok the honey on this bad boy is delicious. Cheese selection is done well (some sharp, some soft, some creamy, some slightly smelly) and has nice nut and fruit accompaniments. Crackers were good but cheese was better so I found myself foregoing the cracker and just eating the cheese+ selection. Turkey Club- Have to put this in as an honorable mention. While I have not had this (what looks to be) delectable sandwich, they are switching it off the menu in early October. So go get one now before it's gone! My roommie swears by this sandwich and orders it every time. Clams/mussels- Their broth is to die for. Thank goodness they bring bread or I would have been forced to drink out of the bowl. Super fresh and super scrumptious. You have the option of getting clams, mussels, or a nice mix of both.

Yelp
A really great place to grab a beer and a bite. We went on a Friday night and loved listening to the jazz trio they had playing until 7. We were with a group of 6 and were seated quickly because we had called ahead. Everyone in the group ordered beers and burgers. The server was nice and knowledgeable, and the service was quick. They also have a good variety of cider options for non beer drinkers. Overall, it's a nice neighborhood spot that I would definitely go back to for a beer, music, etc.
google avatar

Nicole O.

Yelp
Average to subpar service. We arrived when it was nearly empty to celebrate my first day at a new job, and sat at the bar. The bartender could barely pull herself away from conversations with locals long enough to give us menus and take our order. The food was the same - average to subpar. I ordered the southwest salad specifically because it was all romaine with lots of yummy toppings. There was almost all mixed greens (which I personally am not a fan of) the toppings were sparse and dressing was a little disappointing. It was a gorgeous day and the inside had great light and a good vibe from the music. There are also a few tables outside to enjoy a sunny day. I probably won't come back.

Katrina R.

Yelp
Best crabcakes I've ever had! The food is always fantastic, consistently high-quality ingredients are used and the drink selection is good to. You can have a great IPA, wine or a cocktail. It ticks all the boxes!
google avatar

Jen V.

Yelp
Loved this neighborhood bar for years. It's a great place to go whether it's after a hike or after getting a new tattoo. They make one of the best veggie burgers from scratch and the smell of the grilled cheese almost makes me float like a cartoon character. The beer list always boasts some interesting beers, ciders and sours. The mixed drinks are delicious - super excited about the sangria being back and the Very Chill frozen sips. The staff is super nice, back in pre-Covid times my friend and I were being bothered by a drunk creeper tried to kiss us and they made him leave. Fingers crossed everyone keeps masking up so we can go back to Jazz Nights and more big beer release parties!
google avatar

Lelaina V.

Yelp
A classic, relaxed pub with better than expected pub food. Don't skip the street corn, and the duck sandwich is tasty as heck! The ambience is great under a Seattle sunset. The beer list is local but should have something for everyone (especially lovers of sours and goses). Don't miss out on Latona's chill!
google avatar

Yelp
Only 21+...i didn't get far enough down in the reviews to read that. I did look at their website beforehand and it doesn't say that. Maybe publicizing that a little better would be good. We were on family vacation, and coming from the zoo. The lady met us at the door and was super nice, but yeah.
google avatar

Yelp
Love coming to Latona. Their food is good; however, their service is not always good. Sometimes you'll go in and get service immediately and sometimes you'll go in and get no service until 20 mins after sitting down. This is during busy and down times. Why should you wait 20 mins for a menu and another 15 for drink order at 4pm when there's only 3 other tables. The staff isn't even busy, just doing nothing.

D B.

Yelp
Went with a friend for a late lunch. Very uninviting, (even with COVID). All their bar stools seats removed and the staff needs to go! Sadly I have always come here for one of their menu items that is no longer on the menu. The one person working there is as rude as they come. The person I was with told me later that they almost jumped over the counter at the guy because he was being such an ass. On top of that, there is automatic tipping. Any tip to that server is too much!!! Sorry Latona Pub, I will never come back. With the attitude of some of your employees, your business may never come back, when this virus plays out.
google avatar

Yelp
I just moved to greenlake and latona pub is super close by my place. I've stopped in a few times over the last couple months for a couple beers and I have to say their service really rubs me the wrong way. A couple of the bartenders are cool, but there's a few that are just plain rude. Last time i went there, I wasnt keen on spending $7/pint for a beer, so i drank a cheap canned pilsner. The bartender makes her way over after I'd finished the first beer and says "can i get you another ... canned ... beer?" In this super smug, condescending tone. After some sketchy service before, that was really the cherry on top. I hear their food is good, but i couldn't tell you and probably won't be going back with any frequency. There are much better bars within a mile of here; I'd suggest you try those out.

Yelp
amazing food, trivia, and ambiance ! always fun to grab a local beer here and enjoy a cozy evening.

Yelp
- Locale Destination - It's on Latona Ave and 65th St in NE Seattle. (Green Lake) I'm not sure about "Seattle Hipster Bar" - I'm from OC, CA. I don't know about Seattle. This IS NOT a hipster bar for me. This is more like the "nice and cozy pub to hangout with your friends". Totally casual and chilled. Bunch of small tables, which are great for getting comfy and catching up with your friends. Nice little outside seating area. They got a TV - for your game! Many people complained about the staff. They were friendly to me. - Gluttony Expedition - FYI: $.25 to taste a beer. It was only a few sips. I'm just saying.. They also have wine (red, white, port etc.) and desserts. Check out the board! Ale- Liance IPA : It got a bitterness but no body - watery. Meh. 25 th anniv Latona IPA : Nice bitterness. Medium body. Smooth. Good. Better than Ale-Liance IPA ! Sierra southern harvest : Smooth bitterness with a good body and floral nose. Good! Portobello sandwich: Mushrooms were like a steak - meaty, juicy and flavorful. Goat cheese was a great accent. Nicely toasted buns. Great dish! It comes with a simple green salad. - Conqueror's Deduction - This place is cozy and great! Good beers and good food unexpectedly. Food got a quality and a reasonable price. Definitely I'll come back!

Yelp
Bomb dot com food! Awesome rotating beers! Cool live music! Latona Pub is our favorite neighborhood bar in Greenlake! The restaurant is tucked away in the corner of the neighborhood next to a few other businesses, so there is plenty of free street parking. Yay! The restaurant is well lit with tall windows, so there is not a bad seat in the house. Hello Sunshine! It is a smaller space with a bar and only about 10-12 booth and small tables. I wouldn't come with more than a group of 2-4, so get ready to get intimate. We have visited for weeknight dinner on multiple occasions, and never have to wait more then 5-10 minutes. Love love love the entire menu! Generous portions. Talk about quality yum! Sonoma County Duck Confit - amazing!! Leg of duck confit on top of a fresh mixed green salad with roasted beets, pecans, Humbolt Fog chèvre and cranberry fig dressing. If you enjoy duck as much as we do, then get this dish. Steak and Mushroom Salad - they do their steak salad well! Painted Hills sirloin with sautéed mushroom, served with a refreshing baby spinach salad with pears, caramelized shallots, and Gorgonzola. Latona Burger - Painted Hills beef, lettuce, tomato, onion and chipotle mayo. Perfectly moist and well cooked to perfection, served on the heavenly Columbia City Bakery bread. Side of refreshing greens and balsamic vinaigrette. Grilled Cheese and Tomato Basil Soup - they can even make something so simple so awesome. Toasted walnut bread with sharp white cheddar and tomato. The tomato basil soup is sweet and tart, with a delicious consistency. I have also ordered the soup and salad combo with Columbia City baguette. Painted Hills meatloaf - one of my favorite menu items, their meatloaf is an ultimate comfort food and does not disappoint! Bacon wrapped meatloaf, caramelized onions, red wine gravy, chunky Yukon gold mash potatoes and mixed greens. Did someone say bacon? Chicken Pot Pie - delicious chicken with carrots, peas, celery cooked in rich creamy white sauce. The flaky pie crust tops it off with amazing and satisfying crisp. Great dish to warm you up on a cold day. Def one of my favorite bar food choices, and they do it great here. Macaroni and Cheese - the classic favorite! Penne noodles, white cheddar beer sauce, fresh herbs, Parmesan, all baked into an ooey warm melted goodness. A side of refreshing salad and baguette. Their rotating beer menu does not disappoint. Refreshing and goes perfect with their great food. Service is friendly and prompt. They will make sure you are taken care of here. I love the live music available some evenings. The last time we visited, the visiting performers even handed out raffle tickets to all guests, and gave away prizes every 15-30 minutes. I got lucky and won a really cool graphic men's hoody for the hubby! Um, best night ever! Winner winner chicken dinner! Thanks for the great nights, Latona Pub! We will definitely be back soon.

Yelp
My family rented a house just up the street for the Thanksgiving holiday. I had read the reviews that said they did not allow kids which is unfortunate but I respect and understand the policy. So since we couldn't eat in I got takeout for my family and had a nice easy drinking pale while I waited. The food (kale salad, chicken sandwich, Mac & cheese for kids) were all outstanding. A great neighborhood spot.

Yelp
A craft beer lover's home away from home since way back in the day. This place has been serving craft beer since there were only a couple dozen microbreweries in the whole country. Back then, four of those couple dozen micros were right here in Washington: Hale's, Redhook, Pyramid, and Grant's (R.I.P., Herbert). Along with the original Red Door and Cooper's, the Latona poured their kegs and slowly turned drinkers of fizzy yellow industrial alco-pop into people who enjoyed the real thing, brewed locally from fresh ingredients intended for brewing. Today, guess what the Latona does? Pours craft from all over, still. They have a little kitchen next to the bar, little tables next to each other, and little stacks of empty kegs next to the bathrooms. Not much has changed. Maybe nothing. Except for the fact that there are bartenders in this town who weren't born when the Latona opened its doors. And there are now over 2,000 craft breweries in the U.S. That's an increase of over 10,000%. The Latona seems intent on offering a faucet to as many of them as possible. They had locals, west coast beers, nationals, and imports pouring last night. What they didn't have was the clam and mussel appetizer, which is a bummer, because it's always a great dish. But it got me down to Plan B, which was the cheese plate, which turned out to be pretty spectacular--nuts, honey, apple slices, fruit relish, three cheeses, and the softest, freshest bread you can imagine. Very filling, very flavorful, reasonably priced. The place is spotlessly clean, and full of the character that only comes from sticking with a neighborhood and a philosophy for more than a generation. The staff is friendly and cool; they know how to make everybody feel welcome and put smiles on faces. There's a piano in the corner, and a well-thumbed copy of today's New York Times at the end of the bar if you're lucky. It's a proper place to bend an elbow. I'm so grateful it's here.

Yelp
One of the reasons I chose to go to Latona's was because of indirect comments from other reviewer. I was originally looking at reviews for Mona's Bistro in which reviewers kept saying they gave Mona's a shot because Latona's was already packed. We arrived around 6pm on a Thursday in the hopes of getting a table. We scored the last 2-top just before the bar seemed to double its' occupancy. While the bar is small the high ceiling and large windows help the space feel less cramped. The atmosphere was lively and friendly. Most of the customers looked like neighborhood locals. I don't know the ethnic bent of the bar but it sure seemed like there were a lot of Irish in the house. Early St. Patty's revelry? Food/Drink: Cheese plate special - Generous portions of three different cheeses served with apple slices, blanched toasted almonds, truffle honey and a pear chutney. Individually and combined, everything was delicious. Two of the three cheeses were pretty crumbly so it made it difficult to slice, spread or in some other way combine with the apples, bread, honey or chutney. I finally just started doing things like dipping the bread in the honey, taking a bit and then biting off a piece of cheese to enjoy the flavor combination's. Portobello Sandwich - OMG. I took a couple of bites when the sandwich first arrived and thought, okay this is pretty tasty. As I sat a while, talked, swigged on a delicious pint of Shakespeare Stout and munched on the cheese plate the sandwich magically got better and better (and no I don't think it was due to the Stout). I have this idea in my head that it is something about the mushroom having time to rest, like a steak, and the juices getting reabsorbed. One way or another by half way into the sandwich I was making noises of enjoyment out loud, savoring every last bite. I was already getting full, but man could I really let it go uneaten? Southwest Veggie Burger - My partner had the burger and was pretty pleased. Because of another reviewers complaints I later asked him about the texture of the patty and if it held together. Like this reviewer said, it sort of fell apart though he said he has pretty much come to expect that from any well made, good tasting veggie burger in a restaurant. I totally agree. While I would love for them to hold together a bit better I also think about how much crap is put into the ones we buy in the frozen food aisle and how much less flavorful they are. I can deal with a tasty veggie burger that is barely head together by the bun and a satisfied grip instead of a hockey puck made of sawdust. I chatted with a table next to us who highly recommended the Barbeque Beef Brisket and the Burgundy Beef Pot Pie. Service: The service was quick and friendly. Our server was knowledge about the beers and made recommendations based upon our likes and dislikes. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Honestly, one of our all time favorite places in Seattle. This is a locals haunt. Great tap list, and easily one of the best menus around. This place is synonymous with best grilled cheese and tomato bisque, two things I don't even like or order elsewhere. The duck salad is other worldly, as is the meatloaf, Mac and cheese, ... basically everything I've ever had here. Nice to sit outside with the pups on a nice day!

Yelp
Went once to meet some friends from out of town. Weird and rude waiter. Got mad when I touched a chair from another table to move it to our table. Made me sit in a small, uncomfortable folding chair. Proceeded to stare me down from a corner. Very uncomfortable, didn't want to order anything.

Yelp
I was just there standing outside at five minutes after they are supposed to be open and the door was locked and the woman that was working looked up at me and then started looking at her phone like I wasn't there. Kinda disappointing it was pretty cold. Just wanted a couple beers before my appointment. I'll pass on this place

Yelp
This is one if my favorite places to come and get a mimosa. I love the atmosphere and the staff has always been very friendly. Tonight I ordered the Brussel sprouts, a side of bread and a delicious mimosa. The food came quick and it tastes delicious. I adore the neighbourhood charm and overall experience I get here every time I visit.

Yelp
Here's a story about service my girlfriend and I received this afternoon. We went in to order food and a beer. Everything was completely normal until the waiter walked over and asked if we knew what we wanted. My girlfriend ordered one item from the specials board, and the waiter said that the specials on the board were not available. None of this is that noteworthy, except that I didn't hear him say that all of the specials on the board were gone. I thought he had told my girlfriend that the one item on the board was gone, not all of them. So, God forgive me, I ordered another item on the specials menu. The waiter looked at me and said, "Like I said, none of the specials are available." I apologized, but before I could finish ordering something different, he cut me off and said he'd be back with our drinks in a minute. 10 minutes went by as he floated around us helping other people, and I was a little grossed out by the previous interaction, so we decided to leave before our drinks came. I would have told the guy to cancel the order if he had paid any attention to us in that time span. We left the bar, walked down the street to another restaurant. Dude FOLLOWS US down the street, barges in the restaurant that we are already being seated at, and shouts "So, I guess you want me to cancel the beers?" And storms out before I can reply. Legendary bad service. I won't subject myself to it again.

Yelp
I have literally never had worse service than I did tonight at the Latona pub. I went in and was seated at the bar and the bartender asked if I needed anything. I asked to see a menu. After giving me the menu the bartender went and made drinks and chatted with some dudes for 20 minutes while me and two others near me were completely ignored. I tried to get her attention and she said "hold on" and then ignored me (and others near me!) for another five minutes. I finally gave up and left.

Yelp
This place was adorable! We stopped in for drinks after getting tattoos around the corner. The drinks were good and the food coming out of their tiny kitchen looked delicious. If I'm ever in the area again I will certainly stop in for food.
